Apr 14, 2021 The Minnesota police officer who fatally shot Daunte Wright during a traffic stop earlier this week has been charged with 2nd degree manslaughter. The Washington County attorney announced his intention to file the charge against Kim Potter, a 26-year veteran of the Brooklyn Center Police Department who resigned following the shooting. The police department claims Potter meant to fire her Taser but mistakenly grabbed her gun instead. The medical examiner has ruled the death as a homicide. In Minnesota, a 2nd degree manslaughter conviction carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. (Axios)
