Cumberland County schools address students' mental health amid COVID

A Mental Health Awareness Proclamation was approved by the Cumberland County School District Board last month.
“The mission is to celebrate mental health to show support for teachers, for scholars and to strengthen the community in terms of educating all parties, and all stake holders in the awareness of mental health,” said Tara Bratcher, principal of Loyd E. Auman Elementary School.
Mental Health America first dedicated May as Mental Health Awareness Month in 1949.
“Metal Health does matter,” Natasha Scott, executive director of student services, said, “And we need to take good care of it — just like we take care of our physical health, we have to take good care of our mental health as well.”
