Transcripts For CSPAN2 Charlie Kirk The MAGA Doctrine 20240713

I see a lot of young faces in the crowd which means we have a lot of young conservatives. [cheering and applause] so thats really great to see. I would encourage all of you after the event today to walk around the library. Its one of my Favorite Places for obvious reasons. Its the birthplace, its beautiful. We just redone exhibits. Theres a lot of new stuff to see. If you come back, you can visit the archives and even to research into my grandfathers presidency. Theres so much to do here so im so happy to have you here today. Of course, today, we will begin our program by honoring our nation as we always do. But first, will you please welcome our special guest today, charlie kirk [cheering and applause] [applause] and ladies and gentlemen, please remain standing for the presentation of colors and the singing of our national anthem. [presentation of colors] [national anthem]. [national anthem]. [cheering and applause] ladies and gentlemen, please give another round of applause to the Troy High School navy junior rotc colorguard in the Jazz Ensemble for that beautiful tribute to our nation. [cheering and applause] there are a few rare moments in life when you realize how old you are getting. Ive been coming here for decades actually. This is actually the first time i will be introducing someone who is significantly younger than i am. This is a new experience for me so im excited about that. We are very happy to have charlie kirk with us today. Hes a Great American and a great thinker, offer, political figure, if i can call him that. Thinker, author. He is the founder of turning point usa. Im sure many of you are aware of it. [cheering and applause] i would call it the preeminent Educational Foundation for our children, teaching children the values that made the United States great. [applause] and that is what is so needed on our campuses today. Not just at the College Level but the High School Level and even the Elementary School level. Thats the greatest danger is whats happening in our School System and we need the voice of people like charlie kirk to show kids there is another option that what is being taught in schools. That option is actually the right way to live your life. In the right way to support your country. And that is what is so exciting to see people get involved and teach our kids about what is important about the conservative movement. Thats why its so great to have charlie here today. When turning point was founded in 2012, i was actually at the convention with charlie kirk. I remember forster freeze said you should come to this meeting. Im really interested in funding this organization with charlie kirk. You should come with me. I said, i have to do a couple other things. Maybe i wont. That shows why forster freeze is a successful builder and i am or i am today. He made a really good decision to back charlie. Maga doctrine is not only a great defense of President Trumps records, keeping the United States say. He will be known as a Great Peacemaker around the world. Its a great defense of that. The book is forwardlooking. It says how the United States and people can defeat socialism that is growing too strong in the United States. [applause] but this is what i admire most about charlie. Its not just policy prescriptions. He weaves philosophy into this. He talks about edmund burke. One of my grandfathers favorite authors. And my favorite book, the conservative mind. He also compares Kathy Griffin to the elites in rome who murdered cicero. This is heady stuff. [laughter] thats the wonderful part of his book. On a personal level, i was very drawn to parts of the book that talked about how President Trump has broken the stalemate between the republican and democratic parties in washington. Has taken a sledgehammer to the elites that ran washington from both parties. And the reason this is so personal to me is i feel my grandfather did the same thing in the 70s but he didnt have allies like fox news and charlie kirk to defend them in the 70s. Thats why i am so honored and so happy. To welcome charlie kirk here today because we need his voice. Cant wait to hear what he has to say we are thrilled to have him at the nixon library. [applause] thank you. Hello everybody. Great to be here. Quite an honor. Thank you to the whole Leadership Team at the library. Its tremendous. As i said earlier, its been a long month of this week. Weve crisscrossed the country a couple times. Vero beach, florida, lynchburg, back to florida yesterday. Woke up in florida this morning and here we are. Weve got a country to save and weve got to act like it. Its been amazing. Thank you. [applause] i want to thank you for getting your copies of the book. It still number one on amazon, which is amazing. Very pleased and honored by that. Overwhelmed honestly by the response. I really want to dive into whats in here and whats important and what i think the media is missing about President Trump. Whether missing about why hes doing what hes doing. For those that dont know, i run turning point. The largest Student Conservative Organization across the country. [cheering and applause] thank you. Fighting for american exceptionalism. Our whole philosophy at turning point usa is left has been winning far too much and we will go where conservatives have really been losing the last couple decades and making sizable gains. You see that what with what weve been able to do. That will be the legacy of turning point, when you see sizable change in the next generation. Thats part of why i wrote this book. Ive been blown away by the successes of the Trump Presidency. Its important to recount those and focus on how hes been able to succeed. Also, i equally anxious because i dont want to see the Republican Party go back to big double amanagement. Silly immigration policies and bowing down to china. I think that President Trump has positively recalibrated the Republican Party for generations. I think its important to learn from it so that our generation continues to successes at the Trump Administration for the better. I wrote this book partly for that reason but most important, i was watching cable news and reading newspaper and a cap coming across leftwing prognosticators and pundits telling me what President Trump believe it i said to myself, you hate him. You hate us. Im supposed to listen to you . Theyre saying President Trump is doing this because he wants to enrich his businesses. He has no guiding philosophies. Hes in unguided missile. Hes shooting off tweets in the middle of the night. I said, ive spent time with him. Ive spent time with the first family. Ive seen what hes been able to deliver why is no one articulating what the doctrine of the Trump Presidency is . You dont stumble accidentally into justice or search, cavanaugh, energy independence. Solar out of the paris climate accord, weve been able to put our enemies on defense. Thats not an accident. If you dont do but you dont stumble into that because if you did, every president would have a track record of success. A common question i would get is, what have these people been doing the last 20 years . Looks like this guy is running circles around conventional wisdom. Thats when i went to write the book. People said who did you interview . I did talk to the president. I went to rally after rally to wait that is where people would weigh out for a chance to see the president speak. Then i went to minnesota where people waited in 10 degree weather. Im sure you appreciate this. That is not normal. Theres no band. Its not bon jovi. Its not beyoncc. Hes so much funnier than the latenight comedians ever will be. Seriously. Do you ever notice that at the latenight comedy shows that they are applauding in the audience. They are not laughing . Because theyre not funny. Its like a political talk show at 11 00 at night. I asked myself, what is it that drives these people to wait so long at these rallies to take days off of work and feel as though theyre part of something . Then it hit me. He goes back to the federalist papers by our Founding Fathers. Which is citizen government. For the first time in many decades, the people finally believe theres a vessel that listens to them and that delivers for them. The great irony of the whole thing, you wouldnt be able to write this in a novel. It took a billionaire businessman whose supposed to be as disconnected as anyone from you in the kingdom of washington d. C. The moment he came down that escalator, he changed american politics fundamentally for good. When you talk to these people, heres the consensus. I felt like i was losing my country. That like both parties were participating in it. Like the Republican Party talked a good game and did nothing to fix it. I was so sick and tired of of politics as usual. I wanted someone with a sledgehammer. A brooklyn brawler to go blow it all up. So thats kind of special. I said it was kind of poetic. Of course people say, i dont like his tweets. I will address this one time and one time only and heres the best way i can address it. America was drowning in the middle of the ocean under the managed decline under both political parties. Both parties contributed to Big Government management and the venture is broad while our country is crumbling. Finally in the middle of the night when we are gasping for air, a rescue helicopter brings us up for air and we are able to breathe in. The first thing you say to that person is, i dont like your tweet history. We are breathing again. Its totally irrelevant. Its like the heart surgeon. Thank you for the triple bypass, by the way, hate your tweets. But im glad were breathing again. Not to mention, i can make an argument that the twitter feed sets the cadence and is a public northstar for every Single Person to understand what the president is trying to accomplish and keep people accountable for it. Traditionally you need to hold a press conference. Now theres a realtime accountability measure for everyone to see exactly what president is thinking and doing. I think hes hilarious. I like a politician thats out of the Cocktail Party say one thing and do another thing consensus in washington d. C. I dont care if you offends people here and there. I like that he punches back twice as hard because i feel like our politicians havent been fighting and theyve been perfectly okay with this managed decline. So i said thats the thesis of the Trump Presidency. First and foremost, when you go into the doctor and you say give me the bad news first. Tell me everything going on thats bad. President trump basically was pretty brutal. He said we are losing. Our borders are wide open. Our trade deals are stupid. China is laughing at us. Obamacare is a disaster. The court is corrupt, the deep state. This was in the first 30 seconds. Thats the first part of his doctrine and his philosophy. I will tell it straight. Im not going to sugarcoat it. Not going to tell you one thing when its the other. The second thing is what ideas are actually rooted in a renewal of a nation. Understand the historical significance of what President Trump has done and is trying to do. Hes actually trying to revitalize and resuscitate a country that was in that managed decline. Its so historically improbable to do what hes doing. When you have a superpower the likes of america. 55 Million People on food stamps but thats hard to turn around as people will vote themselves benefits. The Founding Fathers warned against this. One of the things i think is one of the most amazing accomplishments that never gets mentioned is 10 Million People are now off of food stamps since President Trump got inaugurated. [applause] for the first time in our countrys history, in modern american political history, we were able to turn that around. That was the demise of the roman empire when people can vote themselves stuff. President trump convince people and the electorate, theres not dignity and just voting for benefits for yourself. How about we create the greatest economy and bring dignity back to forgotten america . So then he runs on this in the historical improbability is so amazing. You see whats happening on the democrat side. It should make everyone kiss the ground and thank god President Trump was able to defy the odds. Senator sanders will probably get screwed because the establishment doesnt want to be the nominee. For good reasons probably. Usable civic and besides that, a really nice guy. Joe biden, confuse your wife with your sister. Dont know what state youre campaigning in. Tell people not to vote for you and then call them pony faced dog soldiers or whatever he says. Finish fifth or sixth in the first couple of contests. Meander into topics no one cares about. Have rallies that are only a couple dozen people. Its going to go down as one of the most puzzling political strategies in american history. A lot of it was because of Mike Bloombergs failure, essentially the worst politician in american history. How that guy made 61 billion let alone run a board meeting. It allowed biden to essentially be the economic equivalent or the political equivalent of what a treasury bond is. A flight to safety. What is the one thing i can put my money in. I dont care if it has no return. Its just right there. Joe biden, got it. I actually make the argument for those that support President Trump and this is a minority opened, i would much rather run against joe biden the bernie sanders. I would much rather run against corrupt and confused than authentic and free stuff. I dont want to elevate a sinister ideology. I would much rather run against someone who is half socialist, half not and completely corrupt and the most current Vice President , which was joe biden. Some people disagree but definitely with the target audience idea with, senator sanders has much more appeal than joe biden. But you see whats happening and you see the establishment on the left. The fact that President Trump was able to defeat 16 republicans, be the bush dynasty, the media complex and all the attempts to destabilize him. I talk about this in my book. I was a supporter in that order. From the midwest. I had my understandable doubts that this guy would deliver the conservative agenda. As soon as he was the nominee, it wasnt a question. I put everything on the line and said theres no choice. Its over. But from the moment, i spent more time with donald trump jr. And eric trump. For those that were they want from supporters, you deserve a huge amount of credit because it took a lot of courage to have that. [applause] the fact that he won the primary was remarkable. The fact he won the general was even more incredible. I talk about in this book and the media ridicules me and i will say it again because i love to bother them. I believe it was a godsend that donald trump got elected. I really do. [applause] i believe it was nothing short of divine intervention allowed america to have a second chance. He gets elected and inaugurated. 17 minutes after he gets inaugurated they say, the case for impeaching donald trump now begins. Seriously. This is so important. I talk about in this book, he very easily could have come a vanilla republican to get some off his back. The Mueller Investigation was a hoax but when they were probing mueller, it was a warning shot. They said stop it mr. Trump or we will come after you. Dont move the embassy or cancel the iran deal and maybe we wont put your friends imprison or investigate your son for a couple years. If you think im exaggerating, im from chicago and i know the way mob politics work. Thats how they run washington d. C. President trump with her was and encourage said im not going to be bullied into not doing whats best for the american people. He very easily could have done with past republican president s refused to do which was not moved embassy to jerusalem or not recognize Golan Heights were not the front planned parenthood. I wrote an entire chapter on this which i think is so important which was the Justice Kavanaugh fight. President trump could have pulled the nomination. In fact a lot of people would have said i get it. Instead President Trump is the first president and a lot of your lifetimes to put the left on the fence. To push back against them where they are disoriented and confused. We call this trumpet arrangement syndrome. There is proof of that. You saw that in the Brett Kavanaugh fight. Which is since anita hill. Especially in the Supreme Court. You have fabricated accusations that were elevated to legitimacy by the media. A man that was the most boring person in the history of maryland. The guys literally had his journals from high school. It was unbelievable. They put him on. That should have been a nomination, 100 0 vote that he still had his journals from high school. On june 18, 1974, i was at carls house. Its actually impressive. You deserve to be on the Supreme Court for that and nothing else. [laughter] [cheering and applause] and then the gallivanting, you had senator harris and senator koons and jeff flake who was part of the problem. I wrote the book in response to folks like jeff flake. Who was pathologically opposed to President Trump. Ended up voting for cavanaugh but elevated the worst of it a we have that circus. President trump did not waver an inch because he understands what the left is trying to do. Hes been fighting the left in different forms his entire life. It didnt call itself the left but one President Trump try to build trump tower in your city and he came across the corrupt bureaucrats, thats the left. When he tried to build brink which was an ice skating rink that was delayed. That was the left. He has a playbook for this. Almost as if he was chosen for a time like this because hes one of the few people that has a track record of beating these sorts of tactics time and time again. And it takes a brooklyn street fighter to go after them. So he wins the election. Gets inaugurated and then does something that confused everybody. Actually did what he said he was going to do. We are not used to that at all. In fact, its this really bizarre thing. The aides will come into his office and say a decision is, whether we want to renew nafta. This really strange decisionmaking process called, what did i say i was going to do and thats what im going to do. We are not used to this because both parties have never operated like this. Renegotiating nafta. That alone is worthy of the parade. Us mca is one of the most amazing trade accomplishments and its not talk about. Putting china finally on defense and getting a really good trade deal. And even better trade deal if we get a second term. To continue to put them on defense. Its as if the Washington Cartel was fine with china getting limitlessly rich at our expense. He was only one with the guts to call them out. Just that alone. Core search, cavanaugh, 200 Circuit Court judges but also to care about what people before him. I think one of the most important fights is the fight for life. The fight for the unborn. I really do. [cheering and applause] you look at President Trump an , 20 years ago, if you wouldve told me a guy that donated to planned parenthood that was on the cover of Playboy Magazine that was a prior democrat would be the most prolife president in american history. I would have said, what are you talking about . Yet he comes in every decision with an open mind and rationally looks at it. Looks at the evidence before me. His story of how he became prolife was very moving. He knew a woman contemplating an abortion. He saw this could rise into us total superstar point for him, it was, that person would not exist. Hes the first president to speak at the march for life. Thats amazing. [applause] im not here to bush bash. They did not speak at the march for life. They didnt. It did not cut planned parenthood funding. It went up steadily. That should open peoples eyes because its this guy thats not supposed to be this socially conservative people. Again, we have questionable justices on the Supreme Court but President Trump did this bizarre thing. I hope everyone in this room helps and applies to their own life. No matter what the situation is. Here are the two consensus in washington, d. C. Option a. We will be triggerhappy and invade a lot of Different Countries in the middle east and try to nation build and impose our values all throughout the region. Sounded good 20 years ago when we had a balanced budget and we really believed we could bring liberty to the middle east. I think it is pretty much the consensus we will not turn libya into louisiana anytime soon. Right . The consensus was we would send more of our most prized possession into this region and continue to spend hundreds of billions of dollars to try to democratize a region that is not ready for it. President trump upended that immediately. Wait a second. I do not like that. That is the neoconservative adventurous Foreign Policy doctrine. The Second School of thought is the exact opposite and equally as bad. We will pick the worst regimes in the region and send them billions of dollars of cash in the middle of the night, bow down, validate them and send them well wishes onward towards a nuclear weapon. That is the other side. President trump said that silly and that is silly. We will do targeted tactical and agile strikes against americas enemies with deterrent response. Number two, we will not have the endless bridge building war industry in afghanistan and in a region that puts our most prized possession, our young people, where we have ptsd issues, we have veteran suicide issues, we have simulation issues, enough. We are here to win wars, not try to democratize an entire region. We always better to our veterans tend to put them in a multi decade conflict with no end in sight. What does President Trump do . He says, okay. I will end these endless wars, but if solo money goes after american citizens, i will take you out with a drone strike. [applause] liberating the generals on the ground. Isis was on the rise when President Trump took office. The destruction, one of the greatest most amazing accomplishments. He did it with minimal loss to american life, but liberating the generals to go after americas enemies on the road. On the ground. Which is incredible. Ending the war in afghanistan. We will see how that all brokers out. I think we all agree, 20 years fatigues the american spirit could be endlessly occupying a country that does not want western values, not accepting western values. When we send 5 billion just a year to the Afghan Security forces and we have hundreds of thousands of kids in our inner cities i cannot read, our priorities are backwards. [applause] i will summarize and then i want to get to questions. I wrote this with a sense of urgency because i do not know if President Trump will get reelected. I think he should when in a landslide based on the successes. One thing i want all of you to dismiss from your vocabulary, i say this as tough love, he will not win in a landslide. It will not be easy. I hear this everywhere i go, folks, even some people in this room, okay, it is closer than you think. Ive been to 44 states in the last year. Ive talked with a lot of people on the ground. There is a Misinformation Campaign against his president. I a lot of work left to do. I go to party after party where people think it is already in the bag. I say, okay, president hillary clinton. Okay, president mitt romney. Humble yourself and lets get to work. This thing is not over. There is no way. There is a way, folks. If google wants him to lose, he will lose. Okay. Voter fraud. What goes on this state allowed can be a blueprint for the rest of the country. They are sending the mischief that goes on here in orange county, they are teaching the memo walkie how to do the same thing in the battleground states. Vote by mail. Not to mention what the media will be against them. I believe the democrats will try to encourage and coach bad economic climate so they can defeat donald trump. Bill marr said it as much. I know that he should win. He should win in a 1972 Richard Nixon style landslide. 1984 Ronald Reagan style landslide. He should. It is not going to happen. Whether he will win electorally in a majority way, i do not know. That remains to be seen. They will not be taken by surprise this time. They just are not. Bloomberg will spend whatever he will spend. The Technology Companies will do whatever they are going to do. I want to see an engaged and worried conservative base. Not a confident conservative base. You can be quite fully certain what trump has done. You should be worried. They are working their tails off. I see it every single day. That is a sense of urgency i hope you all leave with. A year ago from today he could not be president. I want you to realize that. It is conceivable. A 5050 split right now. You know, you could be here gathering and it could be president joe biden. I see a lot of people laughing. It could happen. That is why we need to operate with a sense of urgency. I want to get to some questions. I am honored to be here. Thank you so much. [applause] thank you, charlie. We do have some time for a couple of questions. Our first one will come from one of our cadets that presented the colors. Thank you for your presentation earlier. [applause] what is your question . Good afternoon, sir. My name is ashley. I am a highschooler. As High Schoolers, we do not have a lot of exposure or experience in politics. How do you suggest that we can maintain educated and more involved in politics . Thank you for the question. If you do pursue a career in service, you deserve to be commended. Thank you for being here today. We really do appreciate that. [applause] look, there is tremendous resources out there. I know dennis will be here tomorrow. A great resource. I recommend what we are doing through our digital productions. I think it is very, very helpful. Be curious. Be hungry. Read the other side. In high school, it is not always taught the way that you may want it to be taught. I would encourage you to take five minutes a day for politics. Whether that be reading the news , make sure you read the right form of news, that is all i will say with that. Just be curious. Be open minded. Passionate about what drives you your patriotism should inform your politics. Never forget that. Thank you for being here today. We deeply appreciate it. [applause] one question i have and a lot of people probably went to college when i did. College campuses used to have debate. What are you seeing right now on College Campuses . This is why i quit my job. Right. I wrote this book as a singular project. We have a machine. 106 people running College Campuses across the country. We are working very hard. I think im only conservative to speak at uc berkeley and stanford that lived to tell about it. I have spoken all across the country. The greatest threat to our country is what is happening on College Campuses. We as conservatives need to recognize that. Less about reform and more about rebellion, to be honest with you multi dollar cartels i dont care about the students going through their halls that are not interested in teaching students core american values. For High Schoolers out there, just ask yourself the question why am i going to school, not where am i going to school. You do not need to go till four year college to succeed in our country. We need more plumbers, electricians, welders, police officers, firefighters, veterans and entrepreneurs. [applause] far less people that go to the elite schools all across the country that prognosticate and tell us about how horrible and awesome america is. A massive multibilliondollar window for people that are specifically trained in the skills for americanbased labor and that deficit needs to be filled by High Schoolers. Parents far too often push their kids on to college. I will just give you some hard truths here. Unfortunately, more times than not, its about the parents ego rather than the childs ego. Look them in the eye and say my could is not going to college and im perfectly okay with it. Its more about your ego and your kids future. I say that with love. You see that in the university of Southern California admission scandal. In what world is it okay to fabricate that your kid was not involved in any athletic competition. It was apparent that were doing that. We are talking a milliondollar industry where parents were fabricating records and doing moral and legal thing so their kids could go to usc. Who cares if your kid goes to usc. I dont mean this as a way to insult anyone. My kid is an honor roll student. I would be embarrassed if my parents had a sticker. How about my kid is a good person. Right . It just does not resonate with me. Hyper fixation on who can climb the academic ladder the quickest. It is important if you want to do certain things and i hope everyone want to go to the highest level but i care much more about your character and your worth work ethic then what degree you got from some institution. [applause] i just want to thank you for being here. I feel like you are an ambassador for common sense and probably biblical prophecy, too. Congratulations on your book. My question is, as a Small Businessman, i think that one of the biggest jams we face, especially in california, is that there are all of these greatest ideas, but they come with a cost. It is actually probably considered a morally concealed. Speak a little bit about that and what it does to the economy and businessmen. Thank you. Entrepreneurs and Small Business people are the backbone of the american economy. We should be pro individual, profamily business, pro entrepreneur. California has a perfect case on how to destroy the american entrepreneur. It is protecting the corporate status quo. Tons of people go to washington, d. C. Saying we need more regulation for all of these reasons. Big business, it is a rounding error for them. They can afford more. It is a small guy with eight employees that it puts them out of business. In fact, it protects the incumbents more than anything else. What i think President Trump has done so well, we have seen a rapid increase in Small Business startups across the country which is phenomenal. I think that is sort of bottomup enterprise model that we need to get back to in our country. Not just the protection of the corporate status quo. There is a huge problem in our country because Small Business people cannot find qualified labor that they need. Part of it is training. I talk with Small Business people all the time. There are people that want to come work with me, but they dont have the skills because they got a degree, they borrow the money they dont havent study things that dont matter to find jobs that do not exist. There is a huge market out there right now. I dont know what industry you are in particular, but a huge market for applicable jobs. One of the big Success Stories of the Trump Presidency, i talked about this, this lie that manufacturing would always be dead. President trump proved that there was a multibilliondollar manufacturing opening in our country and he felt it. He felt it really well. We have seen a huge increase since President Trump took office. The final point is this. I kind of go back to the college argument. I encourage everyone in this room to take this to heart. We as a country treat people that go to college far more intelligent and wise than people that did not go to college. The media propaganda, do you notice how they do it . Public approval poem. Approval rating of the president for collegeeducated people is this an noncollege educated people as is. What are they really saying . Heres what the smart people think and here is what the dumb people think. One hundred people that did not go to college in 100 people that did, my experiences people that did not go to college are much more humble. College should be about career preparation, not about ideological preparation. If you send your kid to college you will play russian roulette with their values. They may come back is somebody totally unrecognizable. Thank you. Next question. A new member of the republic women. Thank you for being here. I had the great pleasure of meeting anthony of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of california. It was so amazing to hear his story. I know that he has been traveling the state working to gain the latino vote and confidence in the Republican Party. I think he is doing a great job. We need to support him. Also the africanamerican vote. I am just wondering what you have seen on the campuses. I am the proud motherinlaw of an electric lineman up in sacramento. That is exciting. He is in the skilled trade. I want to put in a plug for those things because it is amazing. Thank you. How we can get the vote and the confidence and how that has been going. A couple of thoughts on this. Virginia was a deep red state until they allowed outofcontrol immigration policies into their state. That is a big problem. I will say that california, you have seen it turn in the wrong direction the last 20 or 30 years. I do think that the latino vote can be one specifically over the life issue, in particular. A very prolife community. They have been propaganda by the left and right. I see something really happening in the black community. I really do. Someone got her political start at that. Very proud of. Very proud of her. We really believe that there is an ideological revolution happening in our country. We need to engage. President trump should be a champion for School Choice. School choice is one of the most important issues in the entire country. Five words i could get President Trump reelected a School Choice for black kids. I really believe that. A massive issue. Charter schools allow parents to choose better educational options. The black community has been so horribly treated by the Democrat Party over the last many decades horribly treated. Especially johnson. Telling the story and actually encouraging those forms of policies, and i talk about this in the book, President Trump accomplished the lowest ever poverty rate, criminal justice reform, millions of people lost food stamps, millions of whom are in the black community. It is far more than president obama ever did. Far more. He gets very little credit. It is also about reaching out, showing up and i think there is something changing where they are more open to it than ever before. That is part of what the maga doctrine is. Bringing dignity back to forgotten america. Parts that were just kind of cast aside. President trump has done a phenomenal job of turning that around. I am cautiously optimistic that we can make some big gains. It will have to be generational. Especially in the black community. Republicans really competed and republicans really went after the black church. You can see huge gains in those communities. Thank you so much for being here. Could you reassure us all and let us know that you have political aspirations. [laughter] very kind of you. No. [laughter] i love what i do. I had the opportunity to spend time with people that are always running of reelection of something. That is great for a lot of people. I love to empower people to do that and help them run for office in all of that. I get so much fulfillment with what we are doing at turning point usa. I can tell you that. We have seen the dial move so much and people say, well, charlie, youve got to run for congress. No. That is not in the cards for me. I think the culture war in the culture battle is far more important than that. Thank you. I think we see a great opportunity happening, you know, in our country. A lot of people rising up. In a lot of new candidates i would love to support and get behind. I am perfectly happy exactly where i am. I just wanted to introduce myself first before my question. If you look into the media they will tell you people like myself do not exist. I am a christian and conservative College Professor at uci. [applause] my question for you, an issue im really passionate about is trying to figure out how to prevent school shootings. I want to make our school safer. Im curious if you have any suggestions on that . I have my own ideas, and id love to talk to you about them. The whole discussion comes down to if you were a School Shooter would you go to a school that had armed guards are not have armed guards. It is that simple. This argument that we should not arm them, we guard our sporting events, banks, airports with armed guards and machine guns yet we do not protect our kids that way. It is silly and backwards to me. A much deeper cultural issue than that, though. Look at the parkland shooting. A misdiagnosis and a complete failure at the federal euro of investigation when it came to investigating that lunatic that did that. We cannot let that happen. We have to prevent the left from coming after our constitutional liberties. I think we have an over medication problem with our kids in schools. Pharmaceutical companies have way too much of power. We are over medicating our kids and causing all sorts of different problems. We are talking about chemically addictive substances that are really playing games with a lot of these kids. Be very careful. Just to give you an example, if i were in school today they would have me so drugged up. No, seriously. They tried to give me everything. Im a little bit type a and was always pushing the boundaries. My parents to their great credit always pushed against it. He is fine. He is fine. I worry about how many people could really change our country are now being fed these cocktails of drugs under this hes restless. He is eight years old. What do you expect. Seriously. I think they are correlated to school shootings. I really do believe that. I get a lot of garbage in that response, but i dont care because it is true. We have destroyed the Nuclear Family in our country. We have to rebuild the american family. We really do. [applause] i would like to wrap it up with a q a. We get quite a few offers that come through here. The cover of your book is one that is interesting to me. Could you give us a little bit of a background. Id be happy to. I will be signing books afterwards. If you want to get your Christmas Shopping done, the cut office tonight. You can get your Christmas Shopping done. New york list times would be greatly appreciative. I want to thank stacy phil helps us out. My girlfriend erica who always travels the country with me. Incredible. [applause] thank you guys. I love that. Socialism kills. Doing something about it. I picked the cover of this book for a reason. I wanted to find a visual image of the president , but i think that sums up his doctrine. He treats our country as if it is a child. Something he cares so much about that is willing to sacrifice everything for. I was there when he did this last year at cpac. He comes out any hugs the flag. That is a kind of protective instinct that he has for our country. Every decision he makes is around trying to say, i care about this. I am willing to sacrifice for this. They say a picture speaks a thousand words. I think it does in that sense. I think the book articulates out also. Ladies and gentlemen, charlie kirk. Thank you. [applause] heres a look at tonights prime timeline. Deputy chief Technology Officer for new york city talks about the power dynamic between big Technology Companies and government around the world. Former white supremacist looks at how hate groups target vulnerable people. Former Deputy National security adviser Katie Mcfarlane reflects on her time in the Trump Administration.
