Todays votes there are four votes but a key faceoff between the compromise crafted over, again, many weeks by 25 senators, by Susan Collins of maine, republican, joe mansion, a West Virginia democrat, plan that is basically reflecktive of what President Trump wants, which will yous Border Security plan, a pathway to citizenship for dreamer. He also wanted an end to a diversity series a visa lottery and strong redistributions on family based immigration. That alternative had a pathway to citizenship and had a 25 billion Border Security package in it. It was kind of a peared back one, and neither of those two two other proposal put forward today could get 60 itize you mentioned the common sense coalition, i think they refer to themselves . What about the one that was sponsored bipartisan from king and michael round, of south dakota . What happened there. That is the same propose sag. They had the the lead sponsors of that, and it was the one of four that came to a vote that was seen as having at least a chance of passage and what we were looking for today was to see if all of the democrats would support it even though it had a Border Security plan that wag steeper in price and many of them wanted to support, but still let them help the dreamers. Would enough republicans do go along with it . We knew going into the vote that just eight republicans would support it. We watch a few more to see if they would. Then we also saw three democrats vote against it. Including pamela Kamala Harris of canada. Why . Why did all four of these amendments fail . There simply isnt enough consensus, pulling pulling in ty directions. Liberal departmentcrats voting against its for one reason, too much Border Security, not focused enough on immigrations and then you have conservatives who want all kinds of other things like restrictions on legal immigration, and that is something that the democrats dont supportout have those ends falling off, and youre not left with a big enough middle that equals 60. This is a big problem because the lack of action in the senate theyre they say theyre not giving up but senators are looking to some that is very pared back, talking of a sixer year protection for dreamers and maybe see if they can put that in the omnibus. What a potential mess. Then somebody else wants Something Else and somebody else wants border. We just had a government shutdown, and i think everybody is not really where looking to complicate thing, and this could complicate things again when they Start Talking bat spending bill. Enough its entirely up in the air whether the house will act at all on heir oplan. They have been trying to test the waters with people or a more conservative package, drafted by Judiciary Committee chairman bob goodlatte, but they really they dont really know they have the votes for that. It could be that Speaker Paul Ryan wants to take the pressure off and wont take up something at this opinion. Maybe move on to some other issues.
