Over to biden for President Campaign cochair and congressman from louisiana to talk more about tonight. Congressman . Tonights theme is we the people. It is the saying we the people 160,000 family members. It is we the people that have been impacted by coronavirus come over 5 million infections. A showt it does tonight working people that we understand their plight. That we understand the real dilemmas that people face. The hardships of getting back to work. The hardships of schooling. And it lays out the biden harris vision for america, and that is putting American Families and American People first, to make sure we do everything in our power, in the richest country in the world, to protect our people. And that we will do it with integrity, with honesty, and with transparency. And i think that that is a very stark difference. I know i was omitted, but i might as well add myself. I think i do speak tonight also. I did mention you, congressman. [laughs] that is it. That is all i have to say. Sure. Ok. So we are going to take a few questions here. We have a couple people raised their hand here. We are going to go first to abc news. Hey guys. Can you hear me . Yes we can. Thank you so much for doing this. Two quick questions. I was wondering if you had any response to some of the frustrations that we have seen that some gop members have a longer speaking time than some progressive members of the party like aoc. I was also wondering if you can expand what we can expect to see from the former Vice President this week ahead of his remarks, or any information on what you expect to hear from him on thursday night. Sure. I am happy to start with the second part of that. I can do the first part. In terms of the Vice President , i think you can expect him to make some surprise appearances throughout the week. I think you should expect to see him at certain points throughout the week. We obviously are not sharing the details of those just yet, but you should not be surprised if you see him appear at some points during the week. I think in terms of his speech on thursday, you are going to hear about his belief that we can unite this country, that we can come together. That the way to get through these unprecedented crises we are facing in terms of both the hubbub the Public Health crisis and the economic crisis, obviously the Racial Justice crisis is not unprecedented in this country, sadly. But that we can come together in this country and the way for us to move forward is to be able to Work Together to get things done. You are going to hear him talk about the importance of leadership. You are going to hear him talk about his belief that we can restore the soul of this nation. That in this incredibly divisive time in our country, that it is possible for us to restore the soul of our nation, to restore civility, and to Work Together to get things done. So i think those are some of the things, a ming money among many others, that you will hear from him on thursday. I would just said that this is a two hour convention. It is not the normal convention. It is the complete opposite of it. It is very concise, and its abbreviated speaking roles. I think Bernie Sanders speaks for eight minutes, which is one of the longer speeches of the convention. No one else speaks that long. Is doing the introduction of Bernie Sanders. And i think that her time is consistent with that. I would just say that we are making sure that every segment of the country that supports the biden harris ticket has a chance to express why they are supporting it. That includes gop members, gop people that are supporting the Vice President , because there are a number of them around the country. And so if we are just going to compare time, look, i am a cochair of the campaign. I do not have a keynote speech, nor do i want one considering the timeframe. This is about winning the election. We are fighting for the soul of the country. It is not about we, it is about we the people. I think that is what tonight shows, and i believe that when it is all said and done, people will see the spirit in which tonight is done, and that is to make sure that every segment of the population understands that there are leaders just like them that are supporting the biden harris ticket, and those leaders want to tell them why. Will he be on later . I am just wondering what is happening there. So, i can take that. I think you although see that today we gave you a full lineup of who is participating today. We look forward to, over the course of this week, laying out in advance of the Evenings Program who will be participating on that particular day. But as you will note, i do believe that mayor pete has been announced that he is per dissipating. I think i saw that he is participating. I think i saw him in one of the mockups. So we are looking forward to hearing from mayor Pete Buttigieg at some point this week. But today, we the people, our theme, will highlight individuals such as senator Bernie Sanders, and john kasich. But those are not the only people. And also just to add on to simone, we have mayor Pete Buttigieg speaking on thursday with the theme, americas promise, along with a number of other former 2020 candidates. Great. I just wanted to know, i was wondering if you could talk a little bit about why there are these additional republicans speaking tonight . Originally i was just going to ask about what value there is to you guys and having john kasich speak. But while i was waiting, you added meg whitman, christine whitman, and more. I was wondering if you could explain a little bit sort of what the thinking is behind giving them a speaking platform. I sort of alluded to it, but there are a bunch of people out there, silent biden voters, republicans that want to vote for biden, or that will be voting for biden. And it is important to let them know that they are not alone. And its ok that there are Republican Leaders that are voting for biden harris. And so, just as any segment of haveopulation that you support from, you make sure that support is known. Interview, i forgot which one, i called them the silent bowen silent biden voters, who are those republicans who feel bullied, who feel that they will be isolated because they support biden, and feel that they will be picked on. So this will show them that they are not alone. And that they do not have to worry about all of those things for showing support for the Vice President and next president of the united states. Because remember, the theme tonight is we the people, not we the democrats, not we black people, not we white people, not we republicans, but we the people. It is we the people who are in pain right now, and this pandemic is crossing every line. Before we did not think it was going to affect young people. Well, young people are dying from it. It is affecting white people, republicans, democrats, asians. You go down the list. That is why we led with we the people, so tonights program will look like we the people, the country of america.
