We thought this would be a different way of having a dialogue about our Republican Values and to get to know kellyanne a little bit better. First off, thank you for being here. Let me first say thank you to you. You are a fantastic state Party Chairwoman for the state of ohio. Thank you. [applause] thank you. We all beginning with the president and Vice President appreciate your leadership in ohio, and i want to remind everybody here im in my personal capacity of Kellyanne Conway. We dont want any of those ethics people to get crazy overnight. I got a little more dressed up than usual because its date night. It is saturday night and we are all in ohio. I did want to thank you and senator portman and misses portman for being here. I know the Lieutenant Governor is here. We have other statewide officials state what elected officials, local elected officials, people who just want to have a great time and support what i call the freedom agenda, so thank you very much for being here and for being part of a movement in the 21st century that protects freedom and liberty. Thank you and god bless each and every one of you. Thanks for that. One thing i talk about a lot is encouraging women to get involved in public service, if its running for office or working on a campaign. I believe it is important to have more women involved in the political process. What do you think we as a party should do to empower more women to run for office or to get involved in politics . Its really a terrific question on the number one impediment for many women not running for office is that nobody has ever asked them to do it. Guys, i love you, but you wake up every morning and you see a senator in the mirror. Women have to be asked. They have to be told, you know, you would be really great for that open Commission Seat or you would make a fantastic mayor or you should run for the school board. What about congress . Have you thought about ever upping your game from volunteering or driving seniors to the polls or getting involved in Public Policy and actually running yourself . I think it is very daunting for some people to run. They already have full lives. You wonder how to fit this in the neverending to do list. I already have a full life and im trying to do the best i can. Youre already staying up worrying about the issues facing the world an ohio and ohio, so you might as well take all of that angst and those beliefs and those ideas and action and put it into greatness. I dont mean to be presenting to people something that i myself would never do, but there are many ways to get involved. Donors. Get involved as obviously, you can get involved as a volunteer, but i think women have a very important special voice at the policy table, and i can say and our Republican Party, especially given the president that i work for, our president , women absolutely have a seat at the table, and we are not just told, but i think a lot of women have been told, which is you can only talk about the she cluster of issues, social issues, health care, education. We can talk about the we issues as well, war, economy, and the like. One important thing is to say to women in your peer group, i can understand why you might hate politics, why you say politics is an awful game. Its toxic. People are just mean to each other. They get nothing done in the state capital or an washington, d. C. I think youve got to admit to people, to women that you can i hateand why they say politics, but they dont hate Public Policy, and politics is just a means to the ends they care about. Women do not mean you do not care who runs the School System because they do. I dont care how much you tax me because they do care. I dont care if the government runs health care now and runs it into the ground they do care about that. You have to have faith in women to be able to take all those Public Policy concerns and the knowledge and put it in a place encourages them to run for a state party chair or run for elective office. I dont think women should run because they are women. I think women should run because they are strong, strongwilled, intelligent thinking human beings who have a lot to add to the Public Policy conversation. Let me add this because i talked about a lot in 2016 to just give a contrast, let me say what i poster of as a decades about female candidates. This is not true of all. It is in overgeneralization, but female candidates often have three distinct advantages. They are seen as fresh and new. We have never had a female congressman from this area. We have never had a state party chair female. Jane is the first one. Here you go. [applause] have four or we five men on the council. It would be great if a woman ran. Women are seen as fresh and new very often. That is attractive to many voters, to the system. Second, women are seen as sometimes they are seen as sort sayess corruptible i incorruptible, more ethical not more ethical than men, but more ethical than the system they would be entering for the first time. A is not a gender comment but comment about inside the system, outside the system. You have never heard of the Old Girls Network because there isnt one. Thats ok. Happen in downs ballot races where you had a scandal, a man leaves, and a woman comes and says she was not part of the scandal and does not know any of the people involved and would not even know who to call to do that. That is important. The other thing is women are seen as negotiators, consensus builders, genuinely interested in what theyre political opponents think and feel about a particular Public Policy issue and how they may agree and how they come together, and i will give an excellent example. We have right here in senator rob portman we are lucky to have in washington once in a while. Jane portman. I have worked with both of them firsthand as the president and first lady have on the opiate crisis, and it is their leadership and senator portmans bipartisan leadership that has led to us starting to truly the crisis. Ck of youre the second hardest hit state in the country. Overdose deaths overall are down 5 . Largest decline in 30 years overall. In ohio, they are down by more than 20 . That is just remarkable. [applause] but you have in your own senator, rob portman, for years, pushing the stop act, getting synthetic opioids out of our own mail system and getting into our communities, into our kids veins. You have the crib act, something that the first lady has really embraced as well so that these babies that are born already chemically dependent, struggling to take their first breath, that there are more resources for them and finding ways for the newborns and their mothers to stay together. Better for the newborn, better for the mother. System icovery could go on and on. We are starting to see the battleship at least turn in the right direction. I see the mcewans. Hi, how are you . Great to see you. This is incredibly important. I know yesterday, the ribbon was cut by Governor Mike Dewine on a brandnew high school, first of its kind here in ohio. Thank you so much for your leadership, and we are very sorry for the loss of your son. God bless him forever more and thank you for turning your grief into something so positive for other families. I think i just answered your question in a couple of different ways. The biggest way to answer it is i just gave an example of an issue where we need more leadership and we need more leadership of both saying, that is a Public Policy voice. A Public Policy issue that needs people in government to work with the private sector and favorite based centers and Health Professionals and Law Enforcement but we need the Government Intervention to get that funding and action that we have seen is so critical. You are absolutely right. Im a Firm Believer in more women running for office. So if any of you are thinking about it, seeing me. We will be backstage. Do you think the democrats moving further left helps the president s reelection . I think i know the answer to that. And how do you think it will affect their party in the long term . That is really the question. I dont recognize the Democratic Party. I was raised in a very party. I was raised in a very unconventional household. Some of you may have heard me say this before. I was raised by my mom, her mom, and two of my mothers unmarried sisters. You know, the italian girls that dont marry. I didnt know what we didnt know. I didnt know what we didnt have. My father left when i was young. We have a great relationship now, but im telling you, i was raised by women. At the height of the feminist year. My father left us. My mother was given a subscription to miss magazine. We were catholic, 100 italian, catholic, workingclass, nobody had gone to college. Basically, they were democrats. I should have been a big feminist democrat. But they were democrats who believed in the second amendment, who were prolife, who believed as Small Business owners yes. [applause] Kellyanne Conway as Small Business owners emphasis on small you work seven days a week. They believed that they were just trying to make their life better than their immigrant forefathers before them, and that my life would be better than theirs, and so on and so forth. We all aspire to. I dont recognize the Democratic Party. Go and find in the congress prolife democrats, prosecond amendment democrats democrats , who voted for the tax cuts and jobs act, which is singlehandedly responsible for the economy we have now. You have democrats running for president saying, i am going to ban fracking. Go talk about that in ohio and pennsylvania. They dont want any cows, gas, they dont want any gas coming out of cows. They dont want nuclear power, they are telling you how to live your life. Apart from the offensive price tag of government measures like the Green New Deal and medicare for all, Pay Attention to what they are doing. Apart from the obscene monetary cost, the moral cost of the government in every decision you make is antithetical. As Vice President pence said, as long as we are there and you are here, the United States of america will never be a socialist country. Ever. [cheers and applause] kellyanne since i am here in my personal capacity lets have a , little bit of fun with the democratic field, shall we . So, we had a woman who was running. Her big platform was women empowerment. Women were not buying it in the Democratic Party. She is out of the race. Kirsten gillibrand, out of the race already. These are democratic primary voters. These are not rightwingers getting in their way. Democratic voters did not want to hear about womens empowerment. She got kicked out of the system. Jay inslee, the twoterm governor running on climate change, he is out. Eric swalwell, first person to get out of the race, he was running on gun control. Hes out. Twoterm governor of colorado, a swing state, and a governor i had worked with like Workforce Development and the drug crisis, john hickenlooper, out. The mayor of new york city who , had about as many people in a rally in iowa than i had around my sunday afternoon dinner table this is called sunday dinner in an italian girls house, not a president ial rally. Out. Just embarrassing. By the way, if their issues and policies were cohesive and coherent and compelling and conservative, they would still be in the race. People simply arent buying what they are selling. We are the democrats, we are for generational transformation, we will nominate the first female president of the United States we already did that. And we beat her. We are going to get the first female president of the United States who by the way, will be a republican. They say all that, and their top three candidates are white career politicians in their 60s and 70s, which i have nothing against, except they certainly do. Kamala harris, where is cory booker, where is Amy Klobuchar in the polls . That is the Democratic Party electorate rejecting them. I dont know why the heck the Democratic Party electorate is so racist and sexist, i cant figure it out. [laughter] Kellyanne Conway they seem so beholden to the extremes. They seem like they will say anything. That is truly scary. When they were asked in the first debate, show of hands how , many of you want to give Health Care Benefits to Illegal Immigrants . They all raised their hands. They wouldve put their foot up in the air. It is that, it is the Green New Deal, government taking over health care, and joe biden, he doesnt sound coherent half the time, but he doesnt sound like joe biden anymore. This is not the joe biden who represented delaware in the senate, or the chairman of the Foreign Relations committee or the chairman of the judiciary committee. It is not that joe biden. We will see what happens. I think the negative effect of the Democratic Party longterm should look, ohio was an outlier in 2018. You furnished a number of republican statewide elected officials and members of congress, and that is really terrific, because it was a rough year. But you did it in ohio, and i think part of that is leadership, investing in grassroots, believing in voters, registering voters, getting the message out. I think it is also because in 2016, you had the transformation going. Think about how Many Democrats voted republican in ohio in just the past couple of cycles. In the president s rally in new mexico, they had 30 hispanic there, 40 democrat, i just read it online. They are already reaching over across the aisle. The people who believe in the freedom agenda, who dont want the government to get between them and their doctors and pocketbooks, between them and their kids, between them and their churches, schools, health care. Who wants the government in the Doctors Office with you . I do think longterm, they are going to have a problem, but the transformation you started here in ohio is a true model that i use all over the country. You can roll the tape. We went from plus three with president obama in 2012 to plus eight for President Trump. That is an 11point swing in one election cycle. That is remarkable. Remarkable. [applause] Kellyanne Conway that is not a squeaker. If you look at the raw vote, i believe president obama beat governor romney by about 100 some thousand votes, maybe 132,000 votes, may be higher. Then you have donald trump beating by 433,000 votes in 2016. The woman who lost the election, whose name i never say anymore, her, she lost i have a million votes here in ohio. She won eight out of 88 counties. The difference is the combination of methods and delivery. The difference is a Democratic Party that seems out of reach and out of touch so many ohioans and americans. Delivery is no longer a style, wearing a certain color, that is fine, Everybody Knows that. Delivery is a system. We now have somebody in President Trump that communicates directly with the people. I think that is transformative for the electoral process. What do you think are the three accomplishments of President Trump that will impact the Election Campaign most significantly . Kellyanne conway that is a great question. I will go with if i am picking three i will say these. It doesnt mean there are only three and it doesnt mean numbers four through 90 were not important. Certainly, the economy. Let me Say Something about the economy for a moment. You heard all the statistics, and you know here in ohio, you are about 4 Unemployment Rate also. When you think about the economy under President Trump, under the Republican Leadership here in ohio, yes, it is the Unemployment Rate, but look at ohio, you now have the lowest number since 1976 in uninsurance claims in employment insurance claims. Unemployment insurance claims. That is huge. Other leading indicators the deregulatory agenda has kicked out 13 regulations for every new one in. And those 13 are not clean air those are duplicative, onerous, invasive, expansive, expensive ways the people were getting into your property, your pocketbooks, into your schools, into your Small Business and survival. The deregulation and tax cuts that led to americans getting a bonus, or a raise, or both we went to 21 , below the 23 average. There is no incentive for these companies. Lots of punishment for those con companies to bring it back here. They are bringing back the wealth and jobs to the country. It is also the six million plus jobs that have been created since Presi
