[applause] good morning everybody. [applause] [inaudible] i want to start out by thinking the social center. Thank you. [applause] i want to thank a whole bunch of family members that are here. In the back come up front come over here. Back, up front, over here. I want to thank my wife marge. [applause] briefly but i do have to do it, its her birthday today. [applause] [laughter] happy birthday to you happy birthday dear lauren happy birthday to you [applause] as if i wasnt enough trouble already. So, lets get this out of the way right away. Im here to announce that im going to be a candidate for United States senate. [applause] it is so, yes buddy . [inaudible] [laughter] it is extremely meaningful to be able to do this and announce this here. 1848, a few steps from where this building is today, my fathers family first arrived here in this country. Came fleeingdy oppression, starvation and arrived here with literally nothing. He married a woman named bridget murphy. She ended up getting a store just on the road here on porter street. They built a family. Patrick passed away young from cholera. And theer force of will help of a community, she kept that family together. Owned a local saloon, served in the state senate. , my greatgrandfather, was born a few blocks from here on meridian street. Neighborhoodd this in congress. He went on to serve as president of the United States. [applause] my dad had the honor of serving this community as well in congress. [laughter] [applause] at a certain point, you have to give up and realize you arent going to compete. Thanks, buddy. Because my family has always appreciated that story. Meant to beat it from a place and believe in the promise of this country. To know that their own history meant that not every barrier was broken down, not every hard path cleared. America, therein was that shot for any striving family. Andchance to build a home make the most out of your dreams. Family, hat, like my there are millions of others that are here now believe in that chance. That strive for that moment to build a Better Future for the place they call home. Fate, what, through choices madehrough by this government, those barriers have been erected, not taken down. That far too many dreams have been blocked or deferred rather than realized. That, for the first time in american modern american history, we have a president that is actively trying to make it harder. We have a senate that, instead of trying to harness the opportunity of every person in the country, they are trying to plus back. Pull us back. Im running for the United States senate to tear that down, to fight back. [applause] ladies and gentlemen, donald trump has forced a reckoning in our nation, without question. To meet this moment requires more than just a feeding him. Defeating him. It requires taking on a broken system that allowed him to win in the first place. The daily acts of oppression and injustice that enabled 63 million americans to think that he was a better steward of their dreams and hopes and aspirations. Better. Try deserves we deserve more. Our people deserve an Economic Justice were a hard days work means an honest days pay. Where you can provide for your family. [applause] mean Health Care Systems that you get the health care that you need when you need it. Where people can afford to live in the city they call home. The cities they power. We have an immigration policy that is reflective of our humanity and makes our nation stronger. Where we have a Healthy Planet for our children and their children. [applause] this is that moment. This one counts. For us and for the generations that come after. The challenge is far too urgent to wait for somebody else to take it on. Ive traveled around this country over the past several years and every corner of it. Ive asked people to do more, to hold on, to give every bit that theyve got. So i will, too. I hope that you will join me. [applause] to prove that the way you fight back against the politics of doubts ofu cant, what we can do as a country, is to bring every voice in, to believe that if you have a country as good as the people it serves, nothing will get in the way of what we can do. [applause] im going to close with one final thought. Community, massachusetts, has been with my family for an awful long time. You have stood by us in good times and through some tough times. You throughouto fortunateign, if im enough to serve in the United States senate, is that i will show up. I will be there for you. [applause] i will be there for you. [applause] i will fight for your voices, for all of our people. Spanish] we all count. We will make that happen. Join me. Join to this race. Fight for your future, its worth protecting. Thank you so much. I look forward to the race. [applause] [inaudible] inaudible] one, two, three. Wait a minute. Selfie yeah all right. Thank you. Inaudible] it means a lot. Inaudible] inaudible] thank you so much. Fantastic. Inaudible] thank you. Inaudible] inaudible] one, two, three. Woohoo inaudible] thank you. Thank you. Inaudible] im very excited for you. Inaudible] inaudible] thank you for coming. Im running for the United States senate. Donald trump has forced us to look deep inside us to find how strong our country is. [inaudible] the underlying structures are broken. Veryday oppressions. If were going to get through hat, i believe that inaudible] policies are focused on important goals. Uality schools, education. Racial equity. Inaudible] we need to fight back. Fight in washington, turning our ountry around. Inaudible] promise to show up. What does that mean . Bringing those voices that i hear down to ashington. Inaudible] how important that that to epresent the generation . [inaudible] the things you want to trying to make sure that we live up to the values. Inaudible] primary to resources from the main getting trump out of office. What do you think about that scenario . I dont think that at a time ere so many people have president out trump continues to roll right people who are trying to say this is going to urt resources. Into the democratic process. The entire system. A democracy. Made your case every two years. Hat is what this is about. [inaudible] inaudible] inaudible] inaudible] im very impressed. And i wish washington and congress would work on infrastructure. Every other generation of american leaders have funded airports or subways or roads and bridges and were failing to do our part. This will be the first generation of elected leaders where we left our infrastructure in worse condition than we got it in and we should work and emand that our leaders in d. C. Invest in infrastructure. Thats the great thing about investing in infrastructure in this country, putting people to work. One of the bigest issues is he use of credit scores. They determine autmotive insurance rates, life insurance, housing and employment. It has more to do with your credit score than your driving record. If you apply for a job, your credit score is pulled. If you a fresh graduated College Student with zero credit and a lot of bills, your credit score is going to be low. And access to apartments, not because of your credit history, it determines everything and that is putting everyone out. I would like to see discussed more in washington, d. C. Is the importance of bip. Think bipartisan. I would like to see us talking about the importance of reaching across the aisle. The only way we can move the nation forward is to work together.
