We recently went down to mandalay bay, i can tell you we are days away from processing that room. We are getting very close to the completion of processing the site. We have a significant time left there as well, however the southbound portion of las vegas boulevard is now completely open. We are also working diligently as we speak. I believe we just opened two of the northbound lanes and the completion of the northbound lanes should occur sometime this evening. So bearing in mind the investigation is continuing and i do not have a lot of answers for you yet, i clearly understand nobody wants answers as to why this happened more than the victims family and the police. We have responsibility to get it right and that is why we are. Oing to take time at best, interesting reporting about how long the shooting lasted and how long it took to get into the room. The first question, how long did the actual shooting last. The first call came into our dispatch center at 10 08 p. M. About shots being fired. The suspect i can tell you now he fired off and on for somewhere between 9 11 minutes. We know 9 11 minutes. We know firing by the suspect stopped at 10 19. The first minute the police were aware of shots being fired at 10 08 p. M. And it stopped at 10 19 p. M. And that is a remarkable response by this police department. Another question, how long before Swat Team Member descended on the suspect room. You heard over 17 72 minutes and ask why so long. As i mentioned to you, as the ship mentioned previously, we had officers working another event at the mandalay bay who heard the shooting and took it upon themselves to form into a team, entered the stairwell ascending the floors and a vacuum hotel guests. These what time had to arrive the swat team had to arrive first. There was a relic Security Guard who was shot during the search. He went up to the room, was advancing to the room when the suspect fired through the door and struck him. He was able to provide Additional Information to the police on the room we were looking at. They shooting had stopped at that time. The shooter was barricaded. No longer an active shooter. Were not hearing any shots. The floors had been evacuated of guests. The suspect was evacuated and contained in a room. We made our decision based on when it was appropriate to enter. I want to be clear, while there was a slight delay, the suspect was no longer firing into the crowd. There was a question about the validity of the crime scene photos. I can confirm those are in fact photographs from inside of the room. They are in fact photographs of our suspect. As the chef mentioned previously, we have opened up an internal investigation to determine the source of the links of the voters to the public. You asked what we found in the suspects room and the sheriff spoke a little bit about cameras being located. To qualify, there were two hallwaysocated in the of the suspect could watch as Law Enforcement or security approached his room. Another camera was placed inside the hotel room people so he could see down the the whole hole so he could see down the hallway. Special agents from the San Francisco field office responded. Others from other locations within the division as well as those from los angeles, dallas, phoenix, and boston have been working on this investigation. Questionsu have many regarding the firearms in this case. There have also been unofficial information being reported regarding the guns. We would like to clear up any conflicting information regarding the number of firearms and the current status of the information. Please understand the investigation is ongoing. I will not be taking questions at this time because were still working through our investigation findings. I will give you the facts we have as of this time. Currently, 47 firearms have been recovered. These firearms were recovered from three different locations. Those locations where the hotel room as well as the pretty and mesquite, nevada. They were purchased in nevada, utah, california, and texas. The gunman purchased rifles, shotguns, and pistols. At this time, none of the items appear to be homemade. There were 12 identified firearms in the hotel room. The Technology Division provides the determinations on things like bump fire stocks and their legality. It depends on whether they alter the firearm to fire automatically. While simulating automatic fire, they do not actually alter the firearm to fire automatically, making them legal undercurrent federal law. It is still being determined which firearms were used in the shooting. All firearms have been traced. We are still awaiting results from some of the firearms at the residents. Investigation continues, we continue to hear stories of her relics by police officers, First Responders, and average citizens. I commend your actions as it shows tremendous courage in the face of extreme danger. One of those brave people were a police officer, officer hartfield. He was at the concert with his wife when shots rang out. Even though of the server hartfield was at the concert even know officer hartfield was at the concert, he took action. He ultimately gave his life protecting others. He was an 11year member of the police force and leaves behind a wife and two children. We are very grateful for his sacrifice. There will be a vigil to remember officer hartfield. It is at a park located on academy weight and is being hosted by our police protective association. As this community has become accustomed, when we do provide information in regards to our local incidents, we release body cam footage to you. Significant amount of bodyworn footage we are going through. I am going to play a clip on our ary large monitor for you of compilation of a number of those cameras. You will see the officers were uncooperative citizens at times, at all times they were trying to locate the source of the gunfire as well as a vacuum those citizens that work as well as evacuate citizens in the line of fire. Particularly those with family and friends. I would like to provide updated information on what is happening at the convention center. We are fully operational all evening, all through the night, and tomorrow at noon we will make a determination on whether we will be open 24 hours moving forward. At minimum, present time until 5 00 p. M. Tomorrow. We are still fully operational to answer any questions the families might have, any friends of the families. I would like to clarify we are not releasing property at the Family Assistance Center. As the sheriff said, they are developing a plan to release property in the future and i am certain that will be put out at a press conference. I would also like to discuss some of the numbers we have been dealing with over there. I had that question earlier by multiple media outlets. We have served over 1000 friends and family members at the Family Assistance Center. We are including treatment services, and our staff at the Clark County Coroners Office has been meeting with every family that comes in there. I would like to thank them. They are an Amazing Group of people doing an amazing job serving these families. I think everybody except for the amilies would consider this big success at the family center. The reason the family may not is if they are waiting one minute longer for us to provide information, that is one minute too long. I appreciate them. I want to send them a message we are doing everything we can do communicate with them and get them the information they need. If they want to come down to the Family Assistance Center we are there to communicate with them and assist them. I would like to provide a phone number that has been previously published an that is within the 211, outside,a, we have call takers standing by to take missing persons reports. I believe that has tapered off quite a bit. 3000ve received over missing persons reports. I would like to clarify what that means that means of people do not misreport the intent of that number or the intent of me giving that number. That by no means means that we have 3000 people missing. We believe that all 59 of the deceased are identified tentatively. We are working on positively identifying the rest of them. We believe that will happen by the end of this evening and p. M. N 9 0010 00 that is normal for us to receive an excessive amount of missing persons reports following an incident like that. That by no mean means we have outstanding missing persons. We have very detailed manifests and we believe everybody involved from the decedents standpoint are accounted for in we are waiting to communicate that with the families. We believe we know who every single one of them is. We are not at liberty to make mistakes, we have to get it right as the undersheriff mentioned earlier. We have to get this right so we need your patience and we are going to work through the night to get the right and i am hopeful we will have all of those confirmed [indiscernible] i believe so, but again, i cant confirm that right now. I believe that because the Security Guard approached the room, he took time to fire on the Security Guard, and then please prefer to the room police approached the room. Decide im trying to learn that information through both rated medication and body cam information. The swat team is not your normal swat team, it was made up of both swat officers, patrol officers, and a k9 unit. He metric into another hotel the day before he checked into mandalay bay .
