Crown Resorts director and former AFL boss Andrew Demetriou has resigned from the embattled gambling giant after pressure to step down by the NSW gaming regulator.
He will exit the role immediately as both the director of Crown Resorts and chairman of Crown in Melbourne.
Mr Demetriou is one of three causalities in the fallout from an independent inquiry which found the company unfit to hold a gaming license at its $2.2 billion flagship Sydney casino.
Crown Resorts CEO Ken Barton is expected to formally step down today.
