The first crash happened shortly after midnight on Alabama Highway 269, about 13 miles south of Jasper. While trying to elude Jasper police, the driver of a pickup truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with a car, according to troopers. The truck caught fire. Troopers are working to identify the driver. Medics transported the driver of the car to a local hospital for serious injuries.
