December 16, 2020 Details about a COVID-19 Vaccination Distribution Plan are being hammered out by the Knox County Unified Command. The Unified Command says they’re working with hospitals, healthcare providers, and community leaders to develop flexible and responsive COVID vaccination programs that can accommodate different vaccines. The Knox County Health Department is expecting to receive the vaccines in the coming weeks and the Unified Command is working to develop a comprehensive distribution plan that is consistent with guidelines from the Illinois Department of Public Health. “Our focus on vaccine distribution will mirror the State of Illinois Plan, which, takes into account CDC and ACIP guidelines, while working to ensure that we prioritize health equity,” said Public Health Administrator Michele Gabriel in a Wednesday press release. “We will take the time and resources necessary to educate County residents about the safety and effectiveness of this vaccine. There is nothing more important in public health than trust, and this important principle will be at the core of every effort to vaccinate our communities.”
