Baker Principal Mike Martello opened the floor for the students to ask questions. The first question was directed toward Evanchyk, asking her what her role was as a School Board member. She responded with two main functions: to make sure the policies they pass are in line with state statutes and act as gatekeepers for the funding in the School District. “We really want to be in a support role,” Evanchyk said. “Support our workers, support our employees and make sure that they are aware that we realize — particularly in the last year — what they’re up against. By supporting them, we support you. And you and your fellow students are the most important thing.”
