In the year since, everything has changed. Schools have been closed for much of the past 12 months. Businesses have shut permanently, temporarily, or adjusted to face masks, social distancing and queues. Public finances have been crippled as the infamous “money tree” has seeded an entire forest to support individuals and businesses forced to stay at home. And there has been unimaginable loss. A total of 220 people have died where Covid-19 is recorded on death certificates. Thousands more have been infected but survived everything from mild to severe symptoms. Even more might have had the virus but never know. The mental health toll may never be fully known.
