UPPER THUMB — The Upper Thumb saw an increase of 70 new coronavirus cases and one death Jan. 7, as the county health department corrects the state’s announcement regarding vaccine progress.
Huron and Tuscola County Health Departments issued statements notifying area residents that the vaccine supplies were not adequate to advance to the next stage Jan. 7. The announcements were made less than 24 hours after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer made the announcement that people over the age of 65 would be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
“As of right now, we do not have enough vaccine to do this,” HCHDs Facebook post read. “When more vaccine becomes available to us we will continue into the next phase.”
