A couple boating on the Hawkesbury River in Sydney's North West on Saturday afternoon have had a lucky escape after a spider spooked them so badly they crashed into an embankment, with a 32-year-woman thrown several metres.
A 30-year-old man and the 32-year-old woman were badly injured when they briefly lost control of their boat on the river at Sackville North just after 3:00pm.
NSW Ambulance Acting Duty Operations Manager Inspector Peter Van Praag said it all happened so quickly.
