Council approves grain elevator infrastructure assessment

The city will conduct an infrastructure assessment of the Leduc Heritage Grain Elevator as part of a request from the Alberta Legacy Development Society (ALDS) to take over maintenance costs for the facility.
ALDS approached the city in 2019 with a proposal to take on maintenance costs because of the society’s aging membership base.

“In 2020 they came forward with a 10-year plan as well as some idea of the operating costs. At the council meeting earlier this year we basically went to council for approval of up to $30,000 for an infrastructure assessment for the grain elevator,” said Mike Pieters, infrastructure and planning general manager.
