Is Prime Minister Justin Trudeau living the last of his seven lives? He can wear ‘Blackface’ and get away scot-free; declare his admiration for China’s dictatorship and get re-elected; and embarrass himself on the India file and get away with it all.
To top it all, Trudeau’s failure in adequately providing COVID-19 vaccines to Canadians caused murmurs of anger and astonishment that a G7 nation had no capacity or capability to produce any vaccine, but no outrage. Not even when he dipped into an international vaccine-sharing pool to secure doses typically reserved for developing countries.
Trudeau’s arrogance and self-righteous attitude generates no negative reaction. It is also reflected in recent poll numbers. On Feb. 19, Ipsos put the federal Liberals at 33%, ahead of the opposition Conservatives under a nondescript Erin O’Toole at 30% and the NDP with 20% support.
