Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to hold a meeting with all the chief ministers of India's states and union territories to address the worrying trend in active COVID-19 cases that has prompted real concerns of a second wave in the country. The situation is particularly worrying in Maharashtra which continues to be weighed down from a resurgence of the virus. In view of this, a detailed directive has been issued to Maharashtra and other states urging them to take measures to curb the spread of the virus and increase disease surveillance through the expansion of testing and tracing activities.
