Cops to step up compliance operations in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: City police will increase compliance operations after several districts in Selangor were placed under a movement control order starting Thursday (May 6).
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said while Kuala Lumpur is still under conditional MCO, it borders Selangor.
"We cannot afford to let our guard down.
"We have 89 compliance operation teams involving 433 officers and personnel. They will be deployed more as we step up operations.
"So far, the number of roadblocks in Kuala Lumpur will be maintained," he told a press conference at the KL police headquarters on Wednesday (May 5).
Between March 18 and Dec 31 last year, Comm Azmi said a total of 15,150 compounds were issued, while 4,125 individuals were detained for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
