CONE, MODELS, UPDATES: Ida expected to rapidly strengthen as it approaches Louisiana

Hurricane Ida has entered the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to strengthen significantly Saturday and Sunday. As of 2 a.m., Ida was 150 miles west-northwest of Havana, Cuba. Maximum sustained winds are 80 mph with gusts to 100 mph. The storm is moving northwest at 15 mph. Louisiana remains in the projected path of Ida.
