CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Saying there’s nothing in Charlottesville’s credit card spending policy that can be enforced, Commonwealth’s Attorney Joe Platania in a letter to City Manager Chip Boyles writes there will be no criminal prosecution of Mayor Nikuyah Walker’s use of a city credit card. Platania writes that he addressed this issue two years ago with city leaders that credit card spending policy is vague, and oversight is inconsistent. This was after prosecuting former city chief of staff and clerk of council in 2019 for failure to return an Apple Watch and IPhone purchased with city funds.
