Those who enjoyed downtown Jamestown events pre-COVID-19 might like them even more post-COVID-19 thanks to a new planning coalition.
In October, the Downtown Jamestown Event Planning Coalition was created, which includes 45-50 organizations and businesses and around 70 community stakeholders, said Todd Tranum, Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce president and CEO. He said the coalition was created to analyze events that take place annually in the greater and downtown Jamestown area to make sure they are having a strong economic impact for local businesses.
“We are making an inventory of current events to make sure everyone has the information they need by sharing the coordination and planning of efforts with downtown businesses,” he said. “We’ve taken some basic partnership concepts, similar to what happened in Fredonia for the Small Business Revolution with multiple organizations, volunteers and businesses involved in initiatives. So we are applying some of the same concepts downtown. People working on a regular basis on a define agenda to move efforts forward.”
