Transcripts For CNN CNN Newsroom With Jim Acosta 20241002

Morning. Youre live in the cnn newsroom. Im Jim Acosta in washington. We begin this hour with Breaking News. The White House is preparing for a chilling new threat that iran could be about to launch a Missile Attack on israel were covering all the angles at this hour, their correspondence around the world. Lets begin with the White House and what theyre saying in cnns are arlette saens. Arlette, were just getting this word within the last hour or so. What can you tell us yeah, jim, this is a pretty stunning warning coming from the u. S. Senior white House Official tells us that the u. S. Believes that iran is preparing to imminently launch a ballistic Missile Attack against israel. It comes at a time when the u. S. Has been watching with great concern to see what irans a posture might be and whether they might try to launch any type of retaliatory attack against israel amid the heightened tensions that have arisen over the course of the past two weeks. Now, in this statement from a senior a white House Official, they note that the u. S. Is actively supporting defensive preparations to defend israel against this attack. And said, a direct Military Attack from iran against israel will carry severe consequences for iran. Now, its unclear what exactly the scope of this possible attack might be. Ben exactly it will occur or where in israel they will be targeting. But us officials have been prepared for the possibility that iran could launch some type of retaliatory attack. Officials have gone as far to say that if iran or any of its partners are proxies, tried to use this moment to target american personnel now or interests in the region that the u. S. Would respond to defend their people. Now, youll remember back in april, the u. S. Lead this multinational coalition to help israel defend itself in the wake, or as they faced a barrage of drone and Missile Attacks by iran. Many of those drones and missiles were intercepted by that effort. And a us official tells us that the u. S. Is prepared to help israel in a similar way. Now, we do know that the pentagon has noted they have significant capabilities in the region, including a carrier strike group. So we will see how this situation unfolds and how exactly the u. S. As comes to israels defense. If iran does in fact, launch this Missile Attack. And of course it comes at a time when President Biden has said they need to avoid an allout war in the region is something that white House Officials are monitoring very closely at this moment. Yeah, im sure they are or let me go to Jim Sciutto, who is in Tel Aviv for us. Jim, maybe this is a very stark warning from the White House for the White House to put this out at this at this juncture is significant. What happens now . Well, we just heard from a spokesperson for the idf acknowledging this white House Warning and saying that as of this moment, we do not identify, we the israelis any aerial threat launched from iran yet, but they are certainly looking and watching and listen, this is exactly the escalation direct conflict between Israel And Iran that so many had worried about, including the u. S. President and other white House Officials when they were making attempts for a ceasefire between Israel And Lebanon prior to that strike that. Killed Hassan Nasrallah and prior to the events of just the last 24 hours in which you now have israeli boots on the ground in southern lebanon. Yet one more escalation from the israeli point of view. Its a natural Security Step to take. Theyre trying to push back hezbollah forces so they cannot threaten northern israel. But the concern from us officials and some here at israel had been that might tempt a response from iran, which we should note has largely been holding back in recent weeks and months going back to the killing of the Hamas Leader inside tehran is my all haniah killed in tehran or in recent days following the killing of nasrallah. The question had been was iran keeping its Powder Dry was around worried about directly confronting israel because the costs that it might incur from doing so, including potential threats to its nuclear facilities. But if, if iran acts on this warning that it does indeed launch these missiles, that the u. S. Says theyre preparing for. Were in a new phase of this Conflict Flex because you could then imagine as so often happens, one Strike Sparks and other retaliatory Story Strike and you can imagine, as israel is warning right now that they might strike back directly against iran right . I mean, theres this warning from the White House, a direct Military Attack from iran against israel will carry severe consequences for iran. That is a direct quote from a senior white House Official in this statement, im going to Colonel Leighton Colonel leighton is also with us if you can dissect what that means, i think its very clear what that means, but what would a Missile Attack look like at this point . Would iran go after civilian areas . Potentially causing high casualties of civilians . What do you think nothing is definitely a possibility . Jim andrew, when you look at the way in which iran does, its targeting, it is not generally very precise. Generally what they do, they will say that theyll go after targets like lets say the intelligence the quarters of the mossad in israel, or Idf Headquarters or something like that. But i mean historically, all, many of their missiles that have been lobbed into israel, israeli airspace have basically gone there indiscriminately and thats the big worry that they could, in Fact Hit Hes civilian area in quite frankly, they may deliberately targets civilian areas because in irans view that is something that gets more bang for the buck, so to speak. Then just striking military targets. So they are not averse to striking a civilian area at all. And thats think the biggest danger here we could see some pretty big casualties if the defense systems dont work Jim Sciutto, let me go back to you. Might this potentially look like what we saw back in april . Its possible that April Attack was significant and it was dozens of missiles and drones, but the combination of israeli Air Defenses and Missile Defenses, us assets in the region, but also other partners, including a partners such as jordan. They together shot down the vast Majority Jordi of them and listen, it comes down to a game of numbers, right, jim, because if iran were to attempt to overwhelm those defenses, it might fire a great number of them at the same time are quite quite close proximity with the intention of overwhelming those defenses. Its not unlike frankly, what what russia attempts to do in ukraine, right . It is to overwhelm its Air Defenses and get some through but its also possible, jim, that there could be some calibration here, right . Where you fire a smaller number of missiles, still significant, but less likely to impose severe damage or that iran chooses to attempt to strike military facilities as opposed to villian ones listed a range of options, right . And we dont react, but we do know this given the warnings from the u. S. And israel that iranian leaders know that such an attack would that spark a reaction and they would have to be preparing themselves for if they choose to what are such a strike, preparing themselves for the consequences and colonel leighton, correct me if im wrong here, but back in april when we saw that Missile Attack from iran, there were some speculation at that time that it was done in such a way that the of those missiles would be repelled, would be shot down and so on. If we see something like that, again, could it be the iranians trying to send a message without trying to spark a global conflict here. Now an act of war that might provoke a response from washington yeah, jim, thats exactly right. That is a very distinct possibility. And the winds are pretty good at calibrating some of their responses in diplomatic terms and as far as their weaponry is concerned, yes. We thought to and many of us thought when we were looking at the April Attacks, that that was really designed to send a message, but not really inflict great to damage is of note that one of the missiles did strike a runway at an israeli airbase back in back in april, and they could do have that happen again but to theyve in essence make sure that they telegraphed enough of their intention that the Area And Missile defense systems could actually pick up and stop with that kind of an attack and our Alex Marquardt is with us. Alex. I know you were at the United Nations General Assembly last week. I mean, what were seeing right now appears to be the fallout from all the diplomatic talks, really just going nowhere in New York last week. And now were just sitting on the edge of what could be a very serious event yeah, jim, i think one of the things that was really highlighted last week was the u. S u. S. Failure to get to any kind of ceasefire. Both in gaza and in lebanon and so with this escalation by israeli forces into lebanon, where certainly weve all been saying on the edge of something that may be something much more dramatic and much bigger. There has been a sense jim, throughout this conflict of the past year, that iran does not want to engage in an all out war, that they dont want to get dragged into something, but they are more than happy to have their proxies do the attacking for them, whether its against israel or against american interests across the region. One criticism you often hear of iran is that they are willing to fight to the last palestinian lebanese houthi. You choose your Proxy Rebel but right now, i believe that is still the sense right now, but there have been three distinct moments in this conflict, jim, that have really raised concerns that iran would respond or was expected to respond to the first was back in april when those revolutionary guard figures were killed in damascus, we saw that incredible huge response by, by iran on April 13 with hundreds of ballistic Cruise Missiles and drones. And then there was the killing of the Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh which has not prompted a real iranian response. The iranian and so said they wanted to give time for the ceasefire talks to play out. They did not want those ceasefire talks to be derailed, but what was clear after Hassan Nasrallah was killed is that there would have to be some kind of iranian response. I really think that it was a question not of if, but when and how and now we appear to be on the cusp of this onion response. So really the Big Question right now is going to be scale is it going to be designed to really carry out too really inflict real Destruction And Pain on israel, or is it meant to send a message saying, were not going to sit quietly after the death of Nasrallah Jim all alright very good. Thanks to all of you for being with us. We should note our Mj Lee over at the White House saying that the u. S. Anticipates that the forthcoming attack from iran against israel could be similar and Scale And Scope to the one in april. We were just talking about a few moments ago that might be a preview of what were going to see here in the coming hours. But the israeli military said as no aerial threat identified from iran, just yet, were watching all of this, everyone. Thank you so much for the news analysis. There will be right back wait is over. S. Believes that iran is preparing to imminently launch a ballistic Missile Attack against israel. We were talking about this in the previous segment. Want go back to jim Sciutto And Colonel leighton. I mean, jim, what do you make of the israelis at this point saying, well, we dont see anything yet. I guess the yet part is the key word well, it appears that the u. S. Has intelligence shared with the israelis that they saw preparations for launch, us has enormous capabilities to do that via satellite, as well as what other assets in the region doesnt mean that theyve launched yet. Now, you have some time after launch, though, less depending on the munitions itself, a ballistic missile. Best estimates takes about 12 minutes to get from iran to here in Israel Drones take several hours. Cruise missiles take a few hours. Its all about speed, right but the fact that israel has not seen one yet does not mean that they wouldnt, theyre not going to see one in the coming minutes, hours, or days and depending on the number and the quality of each munition, theyll have a certain amount of warning time here listen, this is this is significant. I think the most significant piece of Information Weve gotten last several minutes is that the u. S. Believes this would be on a scale like we saw in april, because that was dozens, dozens of missiles and drones. And again, us intelligence is such that it would therefore, if its making that assessment, it seems to me have intelligence that they see multiple preparations at multiple locations to fire. Doesnt mean that iran fires all of them. But they at least have the capability to do so. And then if and when they do, you have varying amounts of warning time, right. To act and shoot them down the ballistic missiles being by far the fastest of them and colonel leighton, i mean, just to jump off of what Jim Sciutto was saying, if the u. S is anticipating that this attack could be similar in the Scale And Scope of what we saw in april is as jim was saying, dozens of drones and missiles and nearly all of them were intercepted i suppose we cant i guess overcorrect here and think, okay, well, no big deal. Theyre just sending a message, right . I mean, it could be different this time around in the us has to prepare for all options yeah thats exactly right. And one of the keys to a successful defense of israel, jim, would be to make sure that you consider all possibilities here if theyre just sending a message thats great, but you really have to prepare as if theyre going to legally stroke give you and thats from a Military Perspective as Jim Sciutto was saying, there are very key indicators that weve clearly picked up in this particular instance, where theyre getting the launch sites ready, theyre doing the kinds of things that you would expect to be taking place in a case like this in a situation like this, and when you look at the totality of all all of this back in april on April 13, they were sending around 300 missiles and drones in israels direction the fact that over 90 of those were intercepted thats a major win for the israeli air and Missile Defense systems. And of course, the allied Missile Defense systems that helped with that the issue of oversaturation of those defenses is a real one. And so it really depends on what kind of preparations the iranians are engaging in. And for israel and its allies, it depends on the warning time when you have two basically use all are indications and warning capabilities to determine not only what the arrangements are doing, but when its likely that they would engage in a launch sequence. And once they engage in that launch sequence, that then makes a real difference in terms of how well you can prepare, how much you can actually do to defend yourself and currently and thanks so much. We appreciate it. Let us know and to all of our teams there on the ground in that region doing amazing work. Keep us posted on any new developments. We appreciate it. Again, the Breaking News the White House putting out the warning that iran is believed to be preparing an imminent Missile Attack on it israel, were going to stay on top of this, bring any developments. Were thrilled cnn Special Event, the Vice President ial Debate Tonight at nine Debate Day in america in just hours from now, democratic governor tim walz and republican senator j. D. Vance going headtohead and the first and only Vice President ial debate with just five weeks to go until Election Day lets discuss now with cnn political Commentator Shermichael Singleton and Bakari Sellers also with its publisher of the conservative site, the bulwark, sarah longwell, shes with the republican voters against trump. Sarah, let me start with you i do Vice President ial debates matter. I know im doing a great job of promoting all of the coverage that i but do they sway some of these voters who may still fence . What do you think . Yeah, this one matters a great deal. And one of the main reasons that it matters is that Donald Trump at 78 is a very old man and the oldest person ever to run for president. And so j. D. Vance as a potential Vice President is somebody that the american people need to know whether or not they think hes up to the job of being president. And j. D. Vance, i do focus groups all the time with Swing Voters and voters across the political spectrum. I cant remember the last time there was a political figure that was so unanimously disliked as j. D. Vance. And so it will be interesting tonight whether or not j. D. Vance can sort of turn the perception of himself around with these voters, especially because i think tim walz, who might not be maybe as strong a debater on points as somebody like j. D vance. Hes much more likable in general. And so having them stacked up against Each Other will be interesting yeah, its going to be fascinating and i have a sense that i mean, theyre just going to go after Each Other Tonight And Shermichael trump to what sarah was saying, trump appears to be lowering expectations for his running mate. Lets listen to what he had to say theres so rigged and so stacked. Youll see it tomorrow with jd. Itll be stacked. Hes going up against a Moron A total more on how she picked him as unbelievable. And i think its a big factor. Theres something wrong with that guy. Yeah. I mean, hes going after tim walz shermichael, your sense of it i mean, look, visually, i think Governor Walz looks older. J. D. Vance looks younger. I think thats going to matter shore. Governor walz is likable, more likable than j. D. Vance . But when the Moderators Tonight asked very pointed and tough questions on issues that matter to the american people whether its domestic or internationally. Can the governor actually showcase that he has a deep and nuanced understanding of those issues. If something were to happen to the Vice President , if she were to become president , god forbid. Is he capable of leading the country forward . I think thats going to matter to a lot of people know oftentimes we say, well, voters dont really care about the issues they just want to know if they really liked the person. I think the Polling Data suggests otherwise voters do care about the issues and theyre paying attention to the issues. Now, j. D. Vance can come across as capable and somewhat likable. And someone who is able to lead the country if something were to happen to trump, to sarahs point at 78yearsold and then i think he wins this debate. I think hes going to do well, hes knowledgeable. He showcased that. He just needs to not come across as somewhat arrogant if you dont typically like to be talked down to and so if he can and accomplish that, then i think well have a good night. Yeah. I mean, bakari, thats lowering the bar. Shermichael is lowering the bar quite a bit there. If j. D. Vance, who just come across as somewhat likable yeah. I think that thats a night. Its going to be a struggle for j. D. Vance and let me just for people watching i do want to just couch my comments by saying that if you read the transcript of the Debate Tomorrow Morning it will probably look like j. D. Vance just walked away with this. If you just simply read the Transcript Scrip however, theres much more shermichael was just alluding to that goes into these debates and im interested to see a couple of things. The first is how j. D vance actually takes being asked questions from the two women in front of them well, he pushed back. Will he be condescending . What is this tone look like . Because that actually factors into his likability. On the other thing is people assume that tim walz, that the Vice President Pull Tim Walz out of the cafeteria in some random High School in minnesota. I mean, he actually has experienced governing them mean he was a united states congressman. He is a governor of a great state. And so i look forward to him actually being able to stand up there and have policy discussions. Hes going to have to defend his record, but i expect a dose of seriousness that we havent seen when we see it on the campaign trail, laughing with mascots, et cetera. And so thats, thats the thats what im looking forward to. This debate will matter. Definitely will matter. But well see and sarah, i do want to talk about helene and the politics of the storm. Trump, as you know, has been going after President Bidens response to Hurricane Helene saying governors of red states arent getting the help they need but we put together a compilation it shouldnt of redstate governors and what theyve been saying, lets watch i was in the air when president Joe Biden called. So i wasnt able to talk to him yesterday what i would say is the florida we havent handled, we have what we need the president just called me yesterday afternoon. I missed it and then i called him right back and he just said, hey, what do you need . And i told him, we we got what we need. We have been showing i have to say working well with fema they in fact were moving very quickly over the last few days for us yes, sir. I mean, trump has been lying about the federal response to this storm. I mean, what do you make of these republican governors saying that theyre getting what they need . Well, look when there are crises like this, this is a different kind of thing than just regular politics. This is a time when people who are halfway decent at governing recognize that its the time to work with the federal government to save peoples lives, to help people whose houses have been destroyed. And its not the time to just play pure policy but of course, Donald Trump doesnt care about people. Hes never cared about people and you certainly doesnt care about the truth. And so those two things are combining right now where he is both lying about the response from the federal government as well as just generally not being particularly interested in the Health And Safety safety of people on the ground and is turning this entirely into politics. And you see those republican governors behaving like grownups and saying that they are getting the help they need because right now is the time to try to help people, not the time to try to score political points. Yes. I mean, Shermichael Isnt this all part of what weve been seeing lady greatly from Donald Trump, which is hes just conjuring up this Fantasy World for supporters. And in Donald Trumps Fantasy World, republican governors arent hearing from the president. There arent getting what they should be getting. And yet theres, theres such a thing as video we have the video of these governments yeah. Sure. Ill leave that for sara to opine on. I mean, yesterday, the former president was in valdosta, Georgia South Georgia for a reason and for the most part, the scripted remarks were i would argue pretty spot on. You dont typically hear those types of remarks from trump. And a part of the reason the former president was there is because the Harriswalz Campaign is spending a lot of time and atlanta those spending a lot of time and other parts of georgia where theres a large African American population to increase turnout there, thus making the state a little more competitive. Now, in Valdosta At Trump brought trucks of things to give out to people are a few, trump and Vice President harris was assessed city in these types of night. But my point is, again, i dont want to get into the semantics of that. My point is politically speaking. I think a part of the Reason Trump was there is because you recognizes georgia may be a little more competitive than what some folks may believe leave as well. I think the campaign recognizes that and wanted to put more president and a place where he was there physically to make the case that, hey, i am here with you. I understand what youre going through and that may benefit him. The other stuff thats typical trump noise. People are used to it. Those who dont like will say, this is why i wont vote for him. And those who supported were going to look at it very differently just quick final word from bakari, but i got to keep a quick because i got to go but yeah. No, i think that he was in valdosta sucking up resources. My heart and prayers go out to the people of western North Carolina, eastern tennessee, entire cities have been wiped off the map i hope that regardless of who you praise, who you love, or who you vote for, people can come together, make sure you donate the governor of North Carolina has a great Donation Link on it on the site because you never know with this Global Warming and Climate Change, you could be next and so my heart and prayers go out to all of those. Thank you, Henry Mcmaster as well. Governor South Carolina for making sure we got restored power and thank you to governor in North Carolina as well. Governor cooper. Yeah. Now is the time for a surge of supplies, not disinformation. All right. Bakari, sara and from michael, thanks so much. We appreciate it. Just beginning supplies are scarce. Its been pretty emotional inability to contact your Loved Ones and kind of the uncertainty of knowing when well be able to get out, even or just be able to have the option to go anywhere to contact anyone has been really tough. He havent seen my kids. Im tired hungry, still have no power no gas to get to my kids i dont know where to get gas so theres that so far fema has delivered 1 Million liters of water and 600,000 meals just in North Carolina, officials and organizations are trying to get supplies in any way they can, including a look at this by mule, a rancher more than 200 miles from asheville brought a dozen mules and supplies to deliver to remote areas and from breweries to arch studios. Many of the local businesses that make asheville, North Carolinas a vibrant and unique are closed indefinitely right now, they face an uncertain future joining us now to talk about this as adam charniak, he is the cofounder of ashevilles hi wire brewing. Adam, good to see you. Im so sorry for everybody in what theyre going through and asheville right now, such a great town had been there so many times. Give us a sense of how youre doing and whats going going on there well, i hope you visited our brewery when you came to town yeah. But what sense how its going. I mean, its its its chaos. I mean, where its like trying to take care of your Home Life your community, your family, your Loved Ones are buried community which is part of our extended family. And then trying to deal with the Company And Kind of the practicalities there how are your employees doing . I have to think that your employees are going through things on an individual basis that we just cant imagine, a huge mess trying to figure it out. The honest i mean, we think is on site you have basic necessities and stuff that you take for granted water, electricity, Cell Phone Coverage is all kind of out the window. The 1990s Clock Radio that you use in your second bedroom . Or you know, you talked away in a drawer somewhere is about the most advanced piece of technology in order to i mean, as far as our employees are concerned, we on sunday, we sent out a text message, text out. We were able to find some Cell Phone Reception and texts. All of our employees and just yesterday, we were able to confirm that everybody is safe we asked what needs they have and we get what we can to provide those needs. And working internally to a crowd, some different resources for some of our employees that are in needs and weve seen all of these horrendous pictures of the damage to asheville and roadways full of mud. I mean, whats it like walking around outside . How is your is your business going to be able to get up and running soon . What about some of the other businesses in your area theres a whole part thats called the river Arts District and, you know, it was sort of arts it started as an artist community, sort of this old industrial area that had kind of been downtrodden and then sort of artist started moving in and it started to last several years. And thats where one of our facilities was low. Mission cousins and dozens of other businesses and i mean, i dont know what the future holds. I mean, its its so early in this process, but i mean, a good majority are either it probably certainly stated quite likely not to return. We have three facilities to breweries and Distribution Center. That Distribution Center was in the river Arts District it had water probably ten feet of water that everything in there is essentially ruined. And what the future holds their were not sure where. I mean, were phase one is processing fair and were just like day two and trying to figure out what were going to do here. So its whats it like walking around . I mean, its its crazy. A lot of people left town a lot of people who have Loved Ones are whatever they need to do to get outgoing, greensboro, raleigh, or atlanta, or charlotte, or somewhere else. Its a lot of people who youre seeing, a lot of anecdotally, its a lot of business owners, lot of people really, really community the part of the community and want its a here, people who arent able to move and maybe people who dont have the means to move. So it feels real strange right now. Im sure adam first of all, thank you so much for joining us. I know in the middle everything youre going through right now, it must be just just im sure youre slam right now, but amtrak. Thank you so much for joining us. We appreciate it best of luck to you and ill try to get to asheville as soon as i can to try one of those thanks a lot all right. It is absolutely. You gotta go to have advise ill take it. Pay when you say Eva Mckend on the role with the Harriswalz Camp Cnn Barrier Islands in the Tampa Bay Area will reopen to the public this afternoon after being battered by Hurricane Helene. But officials there are urging people to stay away if they can. Heres an aerial look at this Sunset Beach Neighborhood on Treasure Island two days after the storm hit. Look at all of that sand. Its everywhere. Streets have turned into beaches, at least 11 people in the Tampa Bay Area were killed. Official say, 23,000 homes in pinellas county. Ill have some sort of damage and joining us now is the mayor of tampa, Jane Castor thanks so much for joining us. We appreciate it. How bad the damage in this area that aerial footage that we were just showing our viewers a few moments ago just tells the story. You have streets that look like beaches right now right in the tampa bay region, especially over on the beaches. There had been some extensive Beach Restoration in the last year and all of that sand was transferred down into the communities. So its taking them more time with the cleanup. Then we are having more difficult time and were having over here in the city of tampa for us, it wasnt a wind event. It was that Storm Surge. And so we have a number of homes, several thousand homes that had flooding up to four to five feet and so that that is just devastating. We have to clear out the homes and what is your youve been at this for some time. Youre experienced at dealing with these kinds of storms. What is your sense of the federal response and how that is going so far . The federal response has been nothing short of amazing President Biden sent in the resources for the Hillsborough County Area that were in. I actually got a personal call from Vice President Harris Yesterday wanting to know if there was anything that we needed in our area. So weve been very fortunate in a local level, state level, federal level, and getting the resources that we need even though we are in the position that i just saw, some of our Friends Up in North Carolina. But we have hit the street. We are providing all the services necessary and cleanup. We have mobile Permitting Stations set up throughout the hardest hit areas, so people can start towards that. They finished the cleanup. They can start towards the restoration and getting things back to normal our city and i do wonder what your thoughts are on the just the sheer power of this hurricane having been in office there in tampa for some time and knowing that part of the country well, and the storm, the Hurricane Threat that it poses to the Gulf Coast what your thoughts are on this Storms Ability to just wreak havoc across the southeast. 1020 years ago, you would worry about hurricanes mainly affecting coastal areas. But this hurricane was able to blow past florida and go up into georgia, tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, virginia. And just cause absolute mayhem right. So im born and raised in tampa 64 years, and i try not to say this out loud. Too many times, but we have yet to be hit by a direct hit in over 100 years. But these storms just in the last Year Year or so, just gain Speed And Power so quickly in the breadth of helene, i mean, the, just the sheer wit in the effect that it had it never came closer than 120 miles from our coast. And look at the devastation that you saw here. The locations that were in the direct path, or simply devastated and i dont know that Theres Anyone that can deny Climate Change, the effects of Climate Change on the that were seeing now and the quickness of them. I mean, we had three days and we were we were hit by helene. It its going to continue coming. Theres a couple of down in the Gulf Area now that we have our eye on yeah. And theres a lot of Essential Reading you can do on this and how Climate Change is affecting these storms. I mean, we used to talk about how the Gulf Of Mexico with supercharging these storms in this latest storm, helene as it went over parts of the southeast that were saturated from prerains. And because of all those high temperatures the storm was drawing strengthen that as well according to piece just out today in the New York times, but in the meantime, Tampa Mayor Jane castor, thanks so much for joining us. We appreciate it. Thank you. Just of luck to you in the coming days a storm season, not over yet and people who live across helenes five ive hundred Mile Path of destruction still need basic necessities for ways you can help go to cnn.
