When i speak to strategists in organizing in georgia, they tell me that voters tell them that they wish that candidates would often campaign more in their areas. And not only focus on atlanta. The incident happened while the former president was visiting section 60, the Burial Site for recent u. S. Now, we had heard the Trump Campaign had said that someone who had worked at the cemetery had blocked members of Donald Trumps campaign from joining him in that moment where he was laying those flowers and part of this Donald Trump had argued stem from the u. Now, trumps campaign and Donald Trump himself have been circulating a statement from some of the Family Members of some of the soldiers who were killed during the withdrawal from afghanistan, particularly those who were killed at kabuls abbey gate. In that incident. They said that they had given permission to the Trump Campaign to film some of this. However the Arlington National Cemetery in a statement to cnn, said that that doesnt matter, that their rules are that you are not allowed to have any sort of political event or have any sort of partisan campaigning taking place within army national military cemetery. A lot of backandforth here and i think, you know, what . I think the bottom line is that even in a moment like this everything becomes political and that theyre different opinions on both sides of this. I think we will learn more. We are told that the Arlington National Cemetery has filed a report on this, but the Trump Campaign has really been a pretty harsh and pushing back and saying that it was inappropriate for members of the Cemetery Staff to try and prevent them from moving forward with their plans. And so for now, i think we have to wait and see how this gets resolved. Im sure to the folks that work there have a job to do as well. We will wait and see how this works out In The End Donald Trump did an interview with dr. Phil. Hes done this before in the past a very friendly interview. Hes very calm and talking about a lot of different things. But then he said something about Kamala Harris and Joe Biden concerning his attempted assassination. What did you hear in that interview thats right. He was asked about the attempted assassination on him in butler, pennsylvania last month, and Donald Trump, hes said two things. One is something that we have heard both from the former president before, but also from republicans, more generally that both harris and Joe Biden have some sort of responsibility in that attempted assassination given their rhetoric toward Donald Trump, particularly, weve heard Donald Trump himself really focus on him calling him a threat to democracy, but then he also made a claim that perhaps the democrats and again, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris specifically may be affecting his Secret Service detail. Take a listen to what he said when this happened people would ask, whose fault is it . I think to a certain extent its Bidens Fault and harris as well and im the opponent. Look, they will weaponizing government against me they brought in the whole doj to charge i didnt get me. They werent too interested in my Health And Safety i would be if i were in their position, but they werent very interested, but they they were always making it from what i understood and i could feel it. They were making it very difficult to have proper staffing in terms of Secrets Service okay. But this rhetoric about them having some responsibility is something we have heard before. I think the question that youd have to ask is, did Donald Trump in his, in his team, are they an agreement between themselves on how we should approach this debate . Because we are in agreement with Donald Trump. If he should be live and unmuted microphones. If there are muted, if theyre muted, will she go . Yeah. Listen, we fully intend to debate. Were going to be there. The question is, will Donald Trump commit to the terms that hes publicly agreed to or will he let his team overrule him. So i guess well see if and when he shows up on September 10, which decision he has made we i think everyones very excited that the Vice President and Governor Walz are sitting down for an interview. We want to continue that progress into her her first term in office here. And again, i think whether its energy policy, economic policy really large, that you have a fighter in Kamala Harris who is actually keeping these interests of the american people front and center coming together to bring people together in search of solutions that actually improve Peoples Quality of life, improved our economy, improve Energy Production. I think that stands again in stark contrast to Donald Trump may, say one thing when hes in pennsylvania, may say one thing out on the stump but frankly, if you look at the totality of his economic agenda, is project 2025 Agenda writ large. The only solutions are those that benefits people with the very billionaires, rich folks like Donald Trump, the wealthiest corporations, nothing for the american Worker Nothing to actually improve the lives of the american people and our consumers. So i think the contrast is pretty clear. What do you think of all of this . And are you surprised that this sort of thing happened at such a solemn in a moment no, im not surprised anymore. Im not im in this is Donald Trump. I think these are all things that we should be looking for that how much will these Answers Matter . Well, obviously, if she makes a big mistake, Itll Matter a lot. I think if she answers it. Well and kind of put some of these questions to rest. I think it wont have a huge impact on the campaign. But these moments can pop up. And so far one of the most remarkable things about the Harris Campaigns since it became a Harris Campaign just over a month ago, is that she hasnt really made a mistake. She has performed brilliantly in basically every for them that shes been in her campaign is hitting on all cylinders and so there is risk here and everybody understands that. But its also part of the process and you have to do it. And i think they were smart to get them to see him, cnn and do a hard News Interview with both candidates and matt, what about the debate . And im not focused so much on the gamesmanship muted microphone or not muted microphone because that will get settled one way or the other but when they take the Debate Stage together what are the stakes there . Again, for the most part, people dont remember that much about debates when they go to vote unless theres a huge mistake or a huge blow landed. I mean, people can remember the big lines from past debates decades ago and they remember how nixon looked 60 years so there is some risk and there is some possibility rewarding debate. But i think what youre going to see here is that this is harriss strong suit she is a prosecutor. She stands up in court and prosecutes the case against bad guy, and shes up against a felon. Lani, how much validity you see in that well, i think the direct contrast that the Harris Campaign is willing to draw, it strikes me that they have been much more willing to confront the Trump Campaign on all sorts of different issues. I do think that their reaction time has gotten better i think theres a number of ways in which the campaign is being run with a Little Bit more pep in his step and i think that matters, but certainly the direct contrast of seeing those two candidates, Harris And Trump on stage together talking about hopefully issues will see i think that will be really impactful for voters just in terms of creating an image, i agree that the specifics of the debate probably get lost with time, but it really is about the imagery, the contrast, the degree to which theyre able to confront one another, how they react when theyre confronted. These are the sorts of things that i think do stick and they do matter. And thats why i think this debate is going to be very widely watched. You know, its interesting now that i have both of you here a romney republican and a democrat whos worked for years to pull the party a Little Bit more toward the middle. So the rule doesnt apply in any case, and its just guidance in any event, i have to learn now the word superseder, so im getting, im going there this also though means that a lot of people will not, if it does indeed go to trial, will not be able to testify, correct. Is that was one of the big things that Supreme Court did, which is say you dont have complete immunity, but anything you did while in the White House, anybody you talk to those people, those potential witnesses are not allowed, right . Or not . Dont have to testify. Yes. So theyve taken out of the indictment a lot of evidence. So for example, during January 6, when trump was watching what was unfolding on televisiOn And making comments its to his aides, all of that is now out of the indictment and those aides who previously after the first indictment may have testified about what trump was saying and doing will now not be able to so thats why it does take some of the evidence out of the case, weakening it a bit. But again, theres still a lot of evidence, a lot there as we creep up to the election, there is no chance. Im assuming that this goes before the election no Way Judge Chutkin has to say whether or not she agrees that they have properly excised everything that need its to go trump, of course will object and say no, theres still more that needs to come out.
