now on cnn this morning one america gets knocked down, we get back up >> president biden, rising to the occasion the burning a fiery state of the union address. did he do what it needed to do to convince voters that he's fit for a second term and >> president biden just doesn't get it >> republicans responding to the state of the union address painting a dark picture of america under the leadership of president biden and the clock is ticking on tiktok, a bill that could lead to the app being effectively banned in the us is gaining traction in the house after a move by ticket talk, we'll tell you about it is 05:00 a.m. here here in washington. a live look at the white house, the washington monument behind clearly there's still sleeping it off after last night. good morning to all of you. i'm kasie hunt. >> it's wonderful to have you with us. president biden was fiery and focused on fighting donald trump last night, one of the most political state of the union addresses we've heard in recent memory his performance sharpened by the incredibly high stakes of a historically pivotal election year adding to the energy the president's frequent freewheeling exchanges with republicans on the floor >> republicans can cut social security and give more tax breaks to the wealthy i that's the proposal you guys don't want another $2,000,000,000,000 tax cut. >> oh, you don't like that bill? that conservatives got together and said was a good bill i'll be darned. that's amazing >> biden's approach was a clear response to widespread concern as voters tell us in polls that he is too old for another term. he also tried to parry that with a couple of self-deprecating jokes i know you don't wanna hear you more, lindsey, but i got say a few more things i know it may not look like if i've been around awhile >> when you get to be >> certain things become clearer than ever now, the president was clearly focused on donald trump, but he never said his name. he warned that his opponent poses a serious threat to democracy how mark predecessor predecessor, a former republican president, tells putin, quote, do whatever the hell you want. my predecessor on some of you here, seek to bury the truth about january 6. many of you in this chamber hi, my predecessor, a promising to pass a national ban on reproductive freedom. >> all right, let's bring in axios political reporter stef kight to kick us off. steph. good morning. thank you so much for being here. good morning. let's talk a little bit about how this speech was received, because i gotta tell you, the democrats i talked to were absolutely a static with how it went. they said to me, this is exactly what the base good to hear. >> republicans. i have to say their initial reaction was like, okay, we're not getting the guy that we thought would play into all the things we've said about president biden. but they also by the end, were criticizing how divisive they said the speech was. what were your takeaways and what's your latest reporting? >> i mean, we've been hearing similar things. democrats really felt that but this was a strong performance from biden and it was in a moment that biden needed a strong performance. they wanted to see biden feisty. they wanted to see him ready to fight. they wanted to see him energetic and we got all of those things. last night, we saw a repeat from last year where he engaged with hecklers throughout the evening and that was really something democrats wanted to see. this was a speech that really was geared toward motivating the democratic base, reminding people that biden is the best option for them as we move towards november and drawing that comparison with trump, of course, republicans are always going to find something, something to criticize. but the fact that they really have focused on the divisiveness of the speech is interesting that that was really all they had to go on. >> it is pretty interesting. what do you think biden did last night to appeal, if anything, to the independent voters that he's going to need to win the election. people who've been voting for nikki haley, you know, one issue that i thought was really important for biden to address was immigration. we've seen time and time again that that is one of his worst issues and the pole polls that's an issue that more and more americans are hearing about. we see so many polls indicate that americans view immigration as one of their top two priorities going into november is an issue biden has not wanted to talk about for years. now. he's not wanting to address the border and we saw him actually go on offense and i pause you for second on that actually, because one of the interesting moment last night was of course, marjorie taylor greene put on a make america great again, hat and handed biden a button, which she took and which suddenly became an impromptu moment in the speech that we can show you. watch what president biden had to say last night about laken riley? >> mike laken riley. an innocent young woman who was killed why? i'm illegal? >> that's right. >> but how many thousands of people being killed by legal to her parents, i say my heart goes out to you, having lost children myself i understand a pretty. >> stunning >> moment, especially the fact that he used the word illegal, which most democrats don't use anymore is true, and that phrase and illegal is certainly something that is >> upset some democrats. i heard from one democratic lawmaker who said, you know, that's not the term that i prefer to use that sure. maybe it's in in us code that term that's not they prefer to use. there has been blowback to that phrase, but his willingness to engage with marjorie taylor greene in some sense, green actually handed him one of his most iconic moments of the night. it's something we're talking about now and people will be talking about moving forward and again on this issue that has been so tricky for democrats to navigate and to see the president not shy away from the issue two of immigration and the border, not just let former president trump take that issue as his marquee issue, but a see him actually go on offense and punt this back to congress and say, look, we came up with a bipartisan border deal. where are you on this >> yeah, i wonder you a little bit of how republican senator mitt romney reacted to the speech we heard biden column of him, amanda integrity as he was on his way down to the de as swatch romney >> i think the state of the union address has become more and more political and other chance going out of the chamber the president obviously making a very strong on political pitch. and i would rather go back to having a actual address at a doctrine about the state of the union, but he pass the first test, which is a shouting get up there and speak a lot of energy and i'm sure he feels good about it >> really interesting to hear an outgoing republican senator say, well, he passed the first test, you know, he showed up, he didn't screw it up. i hit a little bit of light criticism form. what do you make of that? >> i mean, i think his comments about the political nature of the speeches interesting and very in line with romney's whole, whole thing. recently. >> and it's right. i mean, it was certainly a political speech to count the number of times that biden reference his predecessor. think it was more than a dozen times throughout the speech, he was clearly drawing lines between himself and the former president quoted trump on multiple occasions. you know, this was certainly this was a speech that was all about 20:24, november election. and he even referenced specifically the 2024 november election in the context of reproductive rights. so there's certainly a political undertone here. and, but romney had a good point. this was all about showing that biden is fit for office, that he has energy to push back on some of those concerns around age and he did that are cleared, or it's stef kight of axios stef, thanks so much, great to have you here. >> thanks for having motion. i really appreciate it. >> all right. up next a us army sergeant charged with terrorists, goop call hamas, as you all know, israel has a right to go after hamas. there's also as a fundamental responsibility though to protect innocent civilians in gaza the war in gaza played a pivotal role in the president's state of the union address last night, he announced the us >> military will begin establishing an aide port in gaza that could receive large shipments of critically needed food and medical supplies and in some of his most forceful remarks about the humanitarian crisis since the war began. >> biden sent a message to jerusalem >> leadership israel, i say this humanitarian assistance cannot be a secondary consideration. more bargaining chip protecting and saving innocent lives has to be priority as we look to the future. the only real solution to the situation is a two-state solution over time >> cnn international anchor max foster i'll start joins me now, live from london. max. good morning honestly, i'm really interested in your big picture takeaways before we talk specifically about this gaza port, i mean, how did you see by the state of the union address from your vantage point, how is this going to be received overseas? i felt it was really interesting that the very first thing the president biden talked about was that freedom was at stake at home and abroad. and that his predecessor, as he kept referring to him was going to threaten nato. they sat the swedish prime minister in the first lady's box clearly that was a very strong message that they wanted to send yeah. i think i'm on israel basically was calling for change in strategy, wasn't he? he has been working towards this for some time. a very clear probably the clearest point yet in front of the biggest audience that israel needs to change strategy perhaps uncomfortable for netanyahu. the two main elements of it you saw in that soundbite get more aid into gaza. the other one is a two-state solution. i think that his government are quite probably, i don't know. we'll have to wait to see how they respond properly to this. but they'll probably be comfortable with the idea of a port being built by american in gaza to get aid in if they want to pay for it and they want to bring the aid in, then it perhaps take some pressure off the israelis to get aid in on the two-state solution that's a really difficult one because netanyahu is is not looking to that. and it's very clear from biden that's exactly what he wants a change in strategy in israel will be awkward for many in israel, particularly netanyahu. but there are those in israel who would consider perhaps a two-state solution. so he's really looking for them to take more control yeah. >> i mean max, this issue is obviously i'm incredibly difficult one for president biden here at home. i mean, this was this was the first state of the union where i've seen streets. they're trying to block the motorcade route. thousands of people waving palestinian flags, talking about the people of gaza. ilhan omar, the republican all right, excuse me, democratic congresswoman on the far left of that caucus, holding a sign on the floor saying stopped ending bombs. this is something that is really, really difficult for the president. and of course, there is this interaction with netanyahu that is on the american political clock right? i mean, if this war is still going, when we get to november 5th, here in the united states, there is a very real chance that that could very negatively impact president biden's chances. how do you think that's all playing into how netanyahu is thinking about them what the things when they say it stopped sending bombs, i think what they're referring to is the fact that obviously america gives millions of dollars a year to israel in aid already tens of millions, tens of billions more potentially on their way two israel to support them with this war against hamas. so whatever biden's words, he's not talking about reducing any of that aid and supporting the war. and that's what many on the left would like to see an america just stopped sending money to israel whilst it's carrying out the war in this way so they would point to biden saying actually he is fully these are just words really actually america is massively supporting this campaign and you wouldn't have this war in gaza and the poverty and the famine there if america wasn't sending the money over to support the war because israel would struggle to do on this level with that american support >> all right, max foster for us in london, max, thank you. as always, have all right. time now for whether more thunderstorms bringing possible tornadoes and heavy rain to the deep south today, states like georgia and alabama are bracing for significant flooding meteorologists, elisa raffa is tracking all of it and she joins us now, what do we have this morning? it's a stormy start out there. you'd feel all of the lightning strikes across the south this morning where we have heavy rain across parts of arkansas. and then notice the white, you even have some snow up in nebraska over near omaha is the storm just really packing a punch when a couple of different hazards, but we're really eyeballing here. these storms across the deep south this morning because the afternoon, as we get a little bit hotter and more humid, that could feel some strong, severe storms and some heavy rain. a flood watches in effect from atlanta back towards birmingham and montgomery there we could be looking at two to five inches of rain. now, why did this area already got two to three inches earlier in the week? so the soils are saturated and a lot of this rain too who will come on the overnight. so that makes that flooding threat even more dangerous. here's that risk for severe weather today. you see there in the yellow that's that slight risk for a montgomery back into eastern texas where we could have some large hail damaging winds and a couple of tornadoes possible as we go into the afternoon, notice the timeframe of this 08:00 friday evening. that's when we start so to find some of the heaviest rain, so the sun is already down. and then that flooding risk again is more dangerous at night because it's hard to see where that water just winds up piling up that heavy rain continues to push its way east as we go into saturday morning. and then it takes that heavy rain and even maybe a couple of snowflakes mixing in for parts of an interior new england as we go into sunday, again, a lot of the south has already had a wet start to the year making those flooding conditions just a little bit more amplified >> all right. elisa raffa for us with our weather update, elisa. thank you very much for that. have a great weekend all right. >> coming up up with us. i'm kasie hunt. the 2024 general election season is off to a fiery start. last night's state of the union speech by president biden had it all. the president repeatedly calling out his republican opponent on abortion immigration, and democracy, without actually saying the words donald trump mark predecessor a, former republican president tells putin, quote, do whatever the hell you want that's a chrome >> a former >> president actually said that bowing down to a russian leader, i think it's outrageous. it's dangerous and it's unacceptable >> with wars in ukraine and gaza. the speech had a significant foreign policy focus more than some other state of the unions states of the union addresses. but most of the stub substance was still focused here at home, especially on the economy >> america's comeback is building a future of american possibilities. bullying economy from the middle-out and the bottom up, not the top-down. investing in all america and all americans to make every sure everyone has a fair shot. we leave no one, no one behind >> so voters, of course are still skeptical. economy is really improving. but the president focused, i think probably for that reason, mainly on populist style initiative she talks about raising taxes on the wealthy and lowering prescription drug prices and he finished off with a one-two punch, trying to counteract the idea that he's too old and also hitting his predecessor issue facing our nation >> how old we are. it's how old are ideas hey, anger, revenge, retribution are the oldest of ideas but you can lead america with ancient ideas only take us back. the lead america, the land of possibilities you need a vision for the future and what can and should be done all right, joining me now or for new shamir congressional reporter for the associated press and mariana alfaro, politics breaking news reporter at the washington post. ladies, thank you so much for being here for news. you've told me that you have not slept since covering this speech, so i'm very grateful to have you here. i'm not able to pull those all nighters. i have to say i need at least a couple our year but what, i mean, the president, let's, let's just talk big picture. i mean, the washington post goes with a fervent biden takes on trump. biden. >> biden >> says trump poses a dire threat in new york times, the wall street journal, biden paints a stark differences with the gop in the state of union. it's very clear this was an incredibly political speech, more than many state of the, state of the union in addresses that we have seen in the past, but also that biden very clearly hit the bar that i mean, republicans had set the bar very low for him quite honestly they had sort of have sort of painted this picture of someone who really can't get much of anything together, let alone stand on the stage the way he did instead this morning there criticizing what they say was the divisiveness this was a speech. take us inside the room. how did that divisiveness, the politics of this field? because it really did seem to me that there was a lot more of that than there has been in previous years. yeah. >> i mean, this is >> my third state of the union and every year the lack of decorum to use their own words is kind of dwindling, right? >> you >> expect these kinds of outbursts you look to see who the president talks to you on the right side and on the left side, he looked to see who's wearing what what pins, and this year, i mean, there's two protesters in the galleries who were escorted out. that's never happened before. obviously, we saw the back-and-forth with marjorie and president biden then and him saying exactly the words that she wanted him to say. it it was a pretty stunning evening, but like you said, the expectations were probably pad were pretty low for biden mariana, i want to talk a little bit about one issue. didn't show there, which was immigration, that of course it's one of the president's major weaknesses with american voters according according to what we see in polls, i want to show you how he, he really tried to. i mean, the big question has been as you're gonna be able to turn this issue on, republicans after democrats agreed to pass a very conservative border bill, and trump basically torpedoed it from mar-a-lago by calling house republicans and saying i don't pass the senate bill. here's how biden addressed it at some length and you'll see senator james lankford in here. he of course was the republican who really put it all out there and took a lot of heat from his own party for negotiating this watch the result was a bipartisan bill with the toughest set of border security reforms. we've ever seen >> you don't think so? you don't like that, phil? that conservatives got together and said it was a good bill >> i'll be >> darned. >> that's amazing >> that >> bipartisan bill would hire 1,500 more security agents and officers, 100 more immigration judges help tackle a backlog of two minute cases, 4,300 more asylum officers and new policies so they can resolve cases in six months instead of six years. now >> what do you again? >> so you can see james the look on james lankford space as he nods along with that, and his colleagues sit in stony silence. what what is your view of how, what the next turn of this is based on the president's performance last night. yeah. i mean, that not >> set it all and i think we've heard from lankford already that he is very aware but he stands different from his colleagues on this. i've asked him before, do you think you know that the republican demand that biden can do something with executive action like is that going to solve it on? and he says, no, we need to pass congressional legislation to address as he can't do it all with executive actions. so that was kind of a point driven yesterday, president biden made very clear that the fact that that border bill done it was on republicans and all donald trump. and so i think that he really, we know we heard from democrats. we also saw even some republicans in the background say he really nailed it there. you really drove the point across and he kind of that is the message. he's going to take on the trail that he and democrats tried to pass this bill. but, it failed because of donald trump's snap its fingers. yeah i do want to touch on the republican response as well, furnish because i've gotten i woke up to several emails >> from republicans actually in my inbox saying, you know, having katie britt, a woman do this state of the union from rebuttal from her kitchen table, perhaps sent the wrong message to women voters but let's set that aside and show a little bit of katie britt. she is the youngest republican woman elected to the senate. she's from alabama. she was actually a long time congressional aids, so she's very well-known on the hill. she's also on president trump's shortlist to potentially be vice president. let's watch a little bit of her address right now. >> our >> commander in chief is not in command the free world deserves better than a dithering and diminished leader >> xi has furnished, i'm >> interested in what you're hearing from your sources about her performance. i got to say this is like the toughest assignment in politics, like no one ever really comes out of this, looking a lot shinier than when they went in for whatever reason. i mean, it's incredibly difficult to follow the president marco rubio, of course, had it famously, there was a water bottle involved what have you been hearing about how people think she performed? >> i mean, the expectations for katie britt. were astronomical, especially because in a lot of ways she was handpicked by the former president donald trump and stuff. you know, he called her up and said you know, what is going on with ivf. she was the woman of the moment. she was able to get republicans over this really difficult issue, which is reproductive rights in this election cycle. and there's high expectations for i think that from what i've heard from many republican is that she seemed the tone was not maybe in line with some of the things she was saying there was a bit of drama there that maybe necessarily see that a little bit. i mean, she had to enter objective way that it didn't meet the moment. but yeah, i mean, expectations as for her were sky high. she's seen as a rising star and like you said, she's on his shortlist for the vice presidency. >> let's touch on to turn back to what we saw last night from president biden one of the things that the very top of his speech i was at the capitol on january 6. forgive me. i don't know if you were were up here yet the way to the country has shifted in terms of how republicans now talk about it from how they were talking about on that day when they were actually under attack, three years out, when the politics of it apparently have shifted and so have many of them president biden addressed it very close to the top of his address. i want to play what he had to say about his predecessor and what trump would do and just spend a second with the republican reaction to it. watch >> my predecessor on some of you here, seek to bury the truth about january 6 >> i will not do that. >> this is a moment to >> speak to truth and the bury the lives. here's the simple truth. you can't love your country only when you, win we don't have the reaction shot there, but the republican states seated for that this has become, i mean, some of the notes i got suggest that this is one of the things where people said, well, that's just a democratic base issue, which again, as someone who was there, i still find repeatedly stunning what what do you hear from people that you talked to about this? i mean, definitely not just a democratic issue. i know that it's not pulling maybe as high as other issues for republicans like immigration or the economy. but there's still a very tight group of moderate republicans who are concerned of what would happen if second trump term comes around and they are saying they might not. they're going to vote for trump, but they still are worried about what that says. their democracy. and i think we saw that slight nod from mike johnson behind biden when he said that i know that republicans didn't stand up, but there's definitely that recognition. there. a lot of these folks still remember what happened that day and they still know that that is something that at some point we'll need to be addressed, but they're rather not talk about it because again, it would benefit the former president. yeah, well, here we are. all right for new shimarri very on how far. oh, thank you. both very much for being with us this morning. >> all right. i'm next a move to ban tiktok in america effectively ban tiktok in america, gaining momentum on capitol hill. >> plus the congresswoman debbie dingell is live for us passionate, often fiery my message, the president putin, who i've known for a long time is simple. we will not walk away we will not fall down will not bow down >> president biden refused to mention donald trump by name, but he was all through this speech where he was referred to as my predecessor by president biden, at least 13 times. so the question on everyone's minds going in was whether he would do enough to calm fears that he's too old it's a gift for more years joining us now to talk about some of this is the democratic congresswoman from michigan, debbie dingell, congresswoman. good morning to you. thanks so much, everyone here. >> we were talking before the speech. and you had confidence going in. i saw him give you a kiss on the cheek on his way down the aisle, even though you've been you know, little critical of like, how he's doing is his campaign in michigan. >> take >> us inside the room during the speech. >> how do you think he performed last night? did he meet the bar? >> and what >> struck you about how this speech was different from others? >> so i thought he did a great job with i told you before this speech, i thought that he would would people like joe biden beat joe biden the country sees the man that will be president for another four years. i think he laid out what he had accomplished, which is something that we've needed to do a far better job of doing. talk about the different i've been like the jab did he got in that a lot of you didn't vote for your taking credit for some of the programs, but he also laid out what his future was and i think he tried to be positive, which is what i think that we need. you know, it's going to build on the middle-class. he's going to protect people's freedoms and is going to protect democracy. >> what do you so to republican critics who say that this speech was too divisive i think that joe biden is someone that tries to bring people together. and i think that he said that again last night he was very clear that democracy is part of what we are fighting for. he does not like the, the hatred, the divisions, the feisty nas that we are seeing each other face more every day. and when it comes to the border, he said, republicans work with me. what this says, come work, work with me. any means it referred to several times to the speech bipartisan effort t is undertaken you, know i, know joe, biden i've known them forever. this is a man that's like me, be wants to work across the aisle. he wants to work with everybody. but i think he also showed last night is that he's going to stand up to things that are going to hurt this country and the world so we saw, we've seen in recent years kind of breaches of decorum with increasing frequency republicans that the house speaker >> told them to cool it mostly that seemed to happen. the one sort of outlier was marjorie taylor greene, who put on that make america great again, hat and she handed him a a button that had laken riley's name on it. she of course, was a nursing student, was killed in georgia the president took it. there. she is doing that right there. and it led to this impromptu moment that i want to show everyone. here's president biden last night talking about laken riley from the dais laken riley an innocent young woman who was killed. >> why? i'm illegal? >> that's right. >> but how many thousands of people being killed by legal to her parents, i say my heart goes out to you, having lost children myself i understand are you comfortable with what he did there? and he used the word illegal, which many democrats no longer use >> i think what it was trying to do is just say, look i mean, those were the words that merger taylor greene was using and i think he was using those births bare words back. i think he was showing that he had empathy for what happened. but we pumpkin say they want to do something, but they will not a bipartisan bill work done by conservative senators that reached agreement won't consider it because oh, it might give a democrat to win. this should never be a democratic issue or republican issue american people want a win at the border and what happened to her was horrific. he also did talk about i frequently want to say to people when they talk about things that have happened in, they want to take a look, paint brush and paint everybody the same way from my state, the oklahoma bombing was one of the worst domestic, if not the worst domestic terrorism issues we've seen. but because the nicholas brothers came from michigan, doesn't mean that everybody in michigan is bad. i think that we do need to do something about the border. he wants to get more money just to get more border agents there, to get more people in the court. why can't we work on this together? he said republicans work with me he means it. >> the other thing that was, of course difficult for the president to handle because of how charge the issue is, is the war in gaza. and they announced that us troops are going to be involved in building this humanitarian corridor for gazans >> i'm interested to know. do you think that it is going to be enough clearly it's not going to be enough, i guess i should say i should answer my own question that regard. but do you support the president in this action to use american troops to make this corridor >> and how do you >> respond to elon omar sat down on the floor and held up that sign. stop sending bombs. was that the right thing and to do this is what we need to cease fire. i was praying. i know that he has been working to get a temporary ceasefire, which i then prayed goes into a permanent ceasefire he acknowledged last night the loss of life that's happened to civilians in the children that are being killed. and quite frankly, it is just unacceptable that we cannot get humanitarian aid and their children are starving. i mean every day i'm talking to families and seeing the pictures. all of us are i think anybody with a heart and soul knows how bad it is i do not know what's going on behind closed doors. i think at some point, i don't think at some point i think we've got to stand up to netanyahu. i don't we need more humanitarian aid. i'm glad that we're doing that because even when we get to ceasefire, the horrific refik refik conditions on the ground but i can tell you that my community, some of the communities i've many communities, they're complicated communities that i meet with all of them. but the young people and the college campuses and every american muslims want to seize far, they don't want to see anybody else die i thought he was very strong now a two-state solution, which is something else i think if anything comes out of this, we get a two-state solution for two nations to live. >> please. >> briefly, i do want to touch on one other story outside of the state of the union, but it's relevant because the president focused so much on democracy. a katie porter member, a current member of the house of representatives, running for senate in california, said that she she said in a statement that they had billionaires has spent millions to rig, quote, unquote rig, this election is that language democrat should be using look at i love katie she's a good friend. i have not looked into exactly what got done there, but i will tell you there's too much money. >> i mean, i >> really do believe people need to look at the amount of money that has been spent in that rigged election language is that not a slippery slope? >> well i think katie was mad and katie was. and where the republican it's been a great deal of money. we need to look at these independent expenditures that are happening at all these elections. and the kind of money that's poured in and not telling the truth and many instance, i don't know the senate race, i haven't looked at the ads, but i think we should all be concerned about the large amounts of money that are being hidden. the people don't know what's been spent being brought in in the last few minutes. in many races, cross-country, it's happened in several congressional races. it it does tip the scales in, it does all right. >> congresswoman debbie dingell is going to stick around with us to join us at the top of the hour. so thank you very much for that. >> but time now for sports timberwolves. >> all-star anthony edwards delivers an epic game winning block to put the finishing touch on a 44 point performance. andy scholes has this morning's bleacher report any morning morning case, you know, i've seen a lot of amazing blocks and by live, but this is why anybody ever it's an all time or and it saved the game for the timberwolves, set the scene t-wolves up by 27 seconds left, pacers pushing the ball after a rebound. erin, nice myth door for the lab, but aditi edwards, this flies in for the blog. edwards jumping so high that he hit his head on the rim. >> what >> that one some the game for minnesota won 13.1, 11. here was edwards afterwards on that block >> i hit my head, i think on the ram is hurting real bad. my risk but i mean, you know, i saw him with the lane. i knew he was going to put a layup and i was like, man, i'm going to go get this. i never jumped to have my life our office was just as impressive as his deep anti scored the t woes final eight points of this game on his way >> to a season-high 44 points. minnesota we're going to need these kind of efforts from him after the news yesterday, they star karl-anthony towns is going to be out until at least the playoffs as he needs surgery to repair a torn meniscus. all right. elsewhere, we got to potential nba finals preview last sides he gets hosted the celtics nikola jokic operating down low. he's going to ms but aaron gordon with just an upstart put-back slam the reaction nuggets bits there, just priceless well as the celtics, they rallied late to make this a two-point game, but then it was jokic did goarn for the alley-oop that sealed it. jokic 32 points, another triple, double for him, nuggets would win that game one 15 to one or nine. there's seven and won since the all-star break are vitally former undisputed heavyweight convince voters that he's fit for a second term and >> president biden just doesn't get it >> republicans responding to the state of the union address painting a dark picture of america under the leadership of president biden and the clock is ticking on tiktok, a bill that could lead to the app being effectively banned in the us is gaining traction in the house after a move by ticket talk, we'll tell you about it is 05:00 a.m. here here in washington. a live look at the white house, the washington monument behind clearly there's still sleeping it off after last night. good morning to all of you. i'm kasie hunt. >> it's wonderful to have you with us. president biden was fiery and focused on fighting donald trump last night, one of the most political state of the union addresses we've heard in recent memory his performance sharpened by the incredibly high stakes of a historically pivotal election year adding to the energy the president's frequent freewheeling exchanges with republicans on the floor >> republicans can cut social security and give more tax breaks to the wealthy i that's the proposal you guys don't want another $2,000,000,000,000 tax cut. >> oh, you don't like that bill? that conservatives got together and said was a good bill i'll be darned. that's amazing >> biden's approach was a clear response to widespread concern as voters tell us in polls that he is too old for another term. he also tried to parry that with a couple of self-deprecating jokes i know you don't wanna hear you more, lindsey, but i got say a few more things i know it may not look like if i've been around awhile >> when you get to be >> certain things become clearer than ever now, the president was clearly focused on donald trump, but he never said his name. he warned that his opponent poses a serious threat to democracy how mark predecessor predecessor, a former republican president, tells putin, quote, do whatever the hell you want. my predecessor on some of you here, seek to bury the truth about january 6. many of you in this chamber hi, my predecessor, a promising to pass a national ban on reproductive freedom. >> all right, let's bring in axios political reporter stef kight to kick us off. steph. good morning. thank you so much for being here. good morning. let's talk a little bit about how this speech was received, because i gotta tell you, the democrats i talked to were absolutely a static with how it went. they said to me, this is exactly what the base good to hear. >> republicans. i have to say their initial reaction was like, okay, we're not getting the guy that we thought would play into all the things we've said about president biden. but they also by the end, were criticizing how divisive they said the speech was. what were your takeaways and what's your latest reporting? >> i mean, we've been hearing similar things. democrats really felt that but this was a strong performance from biden and it was in a moment that biden needed a strong performance. they wanted to see biden feisty. they wanted to see him ready to fight. they wanted to see him energetic and we got all of those things. last night, we saw a repeat from last year where he engaged with hecklers throughout the evening and that was really something democrats wanted to see. this was a speech that really was geared toward motivating the democratic base, reminding people that biden is the best option for them as we move towards november and drawing that comparison with trump, of course, republicans are always going to find something, something to criticize. but the fact that they really have focused on the divisiveness of the speech is interesting that that was really all they had to go on. >> it is pretty interesting. what do you think biden did last night to appeal, if anything, to the independent voters that he's going to need to win the election. people who've been voting for nikki haley, you know, one issue that i thought was really important for biden to address was immigration. we've seen time and time again that that is one of his worst issues and the pole polls that's an issue that more and more americans are hearing about. we see so many polls indicate that americans view immigration as one of their top two priorities going into november is an issue biden has not wanted to talk about for years. now. he's not wanting to address the border and we saw him actually go on offense and i pause you for second on that actually, because one of the interesting moment last night was of course, marjorie taylor greene put on a make america great again, hat and handed biden a button, which she took and which suddenly became an impromptu moment in the speech that we can show you. watch what president biden had to say last night about laken riley? >> mike laken riley. an innocent young woman who was killed why? i'm illegal? >> that's right. >> but how many thousands of people being killed by legal to her parents, i say my heart goes out to you, having lost children myself i understand a pretty. >> stunning >> moment, especially the fact that he used the word illegal, which most democrats don't use anymore is true, and that phrase and illegal is certainly something that is >> upset some democrats. i heard from one democratic lawmaker who said, you know, that's not the term that i prefer to use that sure. maybe it's in in us code that term that's not they prefer to use. there has been blowback to that phrase, but his willingness to engage with marjorie taylor greene in some sense, green actually handed him one of his most iconic moments of the night. it's something we're talking about now and people will be talking about moving forward and again on this issue that has been so tricky for democrats to navigate and to see the president not shy away from the issue two of immigration and the border, not just let former president trump take that issue as his marquee issue, but a see him actually go on offense and punt this back to congress and say, look, we came up with a bipartisan border deal. where are you on this >> yeah, i wonder you a little bit of how republican senator mitt romney reacted to the speech we heard biden column of him, amanda integrity as he was on his way down to the de as swatch romney >> i think the state of the union address has become more and more political and other chance going out of the chamber the president obviously making a very strong on political pitch. and i would rather go back to having a actual address at a doctrine about the state of the union, but he pass the first test, which is a shouting get up there and speak a lot of energy and i'm sure he feels good about it >> really interesting to hear an outgoing republican senator say, well, he passed the first test, you know, he showed up, he didn't screw it up. i hit a little bit of light criticism form. what do you make of that? >> i mean, i think his comments about the political nature of the speeches interesting and very in line with romney's whole, whole thing. recently. >> and it's right. i mean, it was certainly a political speech to count the number of times that biden reference his predecessor. think it was more than a dozen times throughout the speech, he was clearly drawing lines between himself and the former president quoted trump on multiple occasions. you know, this was certainly this was a speech that was all about 20:24, november election. and he even referenced specifically the 2024 november election in the context of reproductive rights. so there's certainly a political undertone here. and, but romney had a good point. this was all about showing that biden is fit for office, that he has energy to push back on some of those concerns around age and he did that are cleared, or it's stef kight of axios stef, thanks so much, great to have you here. >> thanks for having motion. i really appreciate it. >> all right. up next a us army sergeant charged with terrorists, goop call hamas, as you all know, israel has a right to go after hamas. there's also as a fundamental responsibility though to protect innocent civilians in gaza the war in gaza played a pivotal role in the president's state of the union address last night, he announced the us >> military will begin establishing an aide port in gaza that could receive large shipments of critically needed food and medical supplies and in some of his most forceful remarks about the humanitarian crisis since the war began. >> biden sent a message to jerusalem >> leadership israel, i say this humanitarian assistance cannot be a secondary consideration. more bargaining chip protecting and saving innocent lives has to be priority as we look to the future. the only real solution to the situation is a two-state solution over time >> cnn international anchor max foster i'll start joins me now, live from london. max. good morning honestly, i'm really interested in your big picture takeaways before we talk specifically about this gaza port, i mean, how did you see by the state of the union address from your vantage point, how is this going to be received overseas? i felt it was really interesting that the very first thing the president biden talked about was that freedom was at stake at home and abroad. and that his predecessor, as he kept referring to him was going to threaten nato. they sat the swedish prime minister in the first lady's box clearly that was a very strong message that they wanted to send yeah. i think i'm on israel basically was calling for change in strategy, wasn't he? he has been working towards this for some time. a very clear probably the clearest point yet in front of the biggest audience that israel needs to change strategy perhaps uncomfortable for netanyahu. the two main elements of it you saw in that soundbite get more aid into gaza. the other one is a two-state solution. i think that his government are quite probably, i don't know. we'll have to wait to see how they respond properly to this. but they'll probably be comfortable with the idea of a port being built by american in gaza to get aid in if they want to pay for it and they want to bring the aid in, then it perhaps take some pressure off the israelis to get aid in on the two-state solution that's a really difficult one because netanyahu is is not looking to that. and it's very clear from biden that's exactly what he wants a change in strategy in israel will be awkward for many in israel, particularly netanyahu. but there are those in israel who would consider perhaps a two-state solution. so he's really looking for them to take more control yeah. >> i mean max, this issue is obviously i'm incredibly difficult one for president biden here at home. i mean, this was this was the first state of the union where i've seen streets. they're trying to block the motorcade route. thousands of people waving palestinian flags, talking about the people of gaza. ilhan omar, the republican all right, excuse me, democratic congresswoman on the far left of that caucus, holding a sign on the floor saying stopped ending bombs. this is something that is really, really difficult for the president. and of course, there is this interaction with netanyahu that is on the american political clock right? i mean, if this war is still going, when we get to november 5th, here in the united states, there is a very real chance that that could very negatively impact president biden's chances. how do you think that's all playing into how netanyahu is thinking about them what the things when they say it stopped sending bombs, i think what they're referring to is the fact that obviously america gives millions of dollars a year to israel in aid already tens of millions, tens of billions more potentially on their way two israel to support them with this war against hamas. so whatever biden's words, he's not talking about reducing any of that aid and supporting the war. and that's what many on the left would like to see an america just stopped sending money to israel whilst it's carrying out the war in this way so they would point to biden saying actually he is fully these are just words really actually america is massively supporting this campaign and you wouldn't have this war in gaza and the poverty and the famine there if america wasn't sending the money over to support the war because israel would struggle to do on this level with that american support >> all right, max foster for us in london, max, thank you. as always, have all right. time now for whether more thunderstorms bringing possible tornadoes and heavy rain to the deep south today, states like georgia and alabama are bracing for significant flooding meteorologists, elisa raffa is tracking all of it and she joins us now, what do we have this morning? it's a stormy start out there. you'd feel all of the lightning strikes across the south this morning where we have heavy rain across parts of arkansas. and then notice the white, you even have some snow up in nebraska over near omaha is the storm just really packing a punch when a couple of different hazards, but we're really eyeballing here. these storms across the deep south this morning because the afternoon, as we get a little bit hotter and more humid, that could feel some strong, severe storms and some heavy rain. a flood watches in effect from atlanta back towards birmingham and montgomery there we could be looking at two to five inches of rain. now, why did this area already got two to three inches earlier in the week? so the soils are saturated and a lot of this rain too who will come on the overnight. so that makes that flooding threat even more dangerous. here's that risk for severe weather today. you see there in the yellow that's that slight risk for a montgomery back into eastern texas where we could have some large hail damaging winds and a couple of tornadoes possible as we go into the afternoon, notice the timeframe of this 08:00 friday evening. that's when we start so to find some of the heaviest rain, so the sun is already down. and then that flooding risk again is more dangerous at night because it's hard to see where that water just winds up piling up that heavy rain continues to push its way east as we go into saturday morning. and then it takes that heavy rain and even maybe a couple of snowflakes mixing in for parts of an interior new england as we go into sunday, again, a lot of the south has already had a wet start to the year making those flooding conditions just a little bit more amplified >> all right. elisa raffa for us with our weather update, elisa. thank you very much for that. have a great weekend all right. >> coming up up with us. i'm kasie hunt. the 2024 general election season is off to a fiery start. last night's state of the union speech by president biden had it all. the president repeatedly calling out his republican opponent on abortion immigration, and democracy, without actually saying the words donald trump mark predecessor a, former republican president tells putin, quote, do whatever the hell you want that's a chrome >> a former >> president actually said that bowing down to a russian leader, i think it's outrageous. it's dangerous and it's unacceptable >> with wars in ukraine and gaza. the speech had a significant foreign policy focus more than some other state of the unions states of the union addresses. but most of the stub substance was still focused here at home, especially on the economy >> america's comeback is building a future of american possibilities. bullying economy from the middle-out and the bottom up, not the top-down. investing in all america and all americans to make every sure everyone has a fair shot. we leave no one, no one behind >> so voters, of course are still skeptical. economy is really improving. but the president focused, i think probably for that reason, mainly on populist style initiative she talks about raising taxes on the wealthy and lowering prescription drug prices and he finished off with a one-two punch, trying to counteract the idea that he's too old and also hitting his predecessor issue facing our nation >> how old we are. it's how old are ideas hey, anger, revenge, retribution are the oldest of ideas but you can lead america with ancient ideas only take us back. the lead america, the land of possibilities you need a vision for the future and what can and should be done all right, joining me now or for new shamir congressional reporter for the associated press and mariana alfaro, politics breaking news reporter at the washington post. ladies, thank you so much for being here for news. you've told me that you have not slept since covering this speech, so i'm very grateful to have you here. i'm not able to pull those all nighters. i have to say i need at least a couple our year but what, i mean, the president, let's, let's just talk big picture. i mean, the washington post goes with a fervent biden takes on trump. biden. >> biden >> says trump poses a dire threat in new york times, the wall street journal, biden paints a stark differences with the gop in the state of union. it's very clear this was an incredibly political speech, more than many state of the, state of the union in addresses that we have seen in the past, but also that biden very clearly hit the bar that i mean, republicans had set the bar very low for him quite honestly they had sort of have sort of painted this picture of someone who really can't get much of anything together, let alone stand on the stage the way he did instead this morning there criticizing what they say was the divisiveness this was a speech. take us inside the room. how did that divisiveness, the politics of this field? because it really did seem to me that there was a lot more of that than there has been in previous years. yeah. >> i mean, this is >> my third state of the union and every year the lack of decorum to use their own words is kind of dwindling, right? >> you >> expect these kinds of outbursts you look to see who the president talks to you on the right side and on the left side, he looked to see who's wearing what what pins, and this year, i mean, there's two protesters in the galleries who were escorted out. that's never happened before. obviously, we saw the back-and-forth with marjorie and president biden then and him saying exactly the words that she wanted him to say. it it was a pretty stunning evening, but like you said, the expectations were probably pad were pretty low for biden mariana, i want to talk a little bit about one issue. didn't show there, which was immigration, that of course it's one of the president's major weaknesses with american voters according according to what we see in polls, i want to show you how he, he really tried to. i mean, the big question has been as you're gonna be able to turn this issue on, republicans after democrats agreed to pass a very conservative border bill, and trump basically torpedoed it from mar-a-lago by calling house republicans and saying i don't pass the senate bill. here's how biden addressed it at some length and you'll see senator james lankford in here. he of course was the republican who really put it all out there and took a lot of heat from his own party for negotiating this watch the result was a bipartisan bill with the toughest set of border security reforms. we've ever seen >> you don't think so? you don't like that, phil? that conservatives got together and said it was a good bill >> i'll be >> darned. >> that's amazing >> that >> bipartisan bill would hire 1,500 more security agents and officers, 100 more immigration judges help tackle a backlog of two minute cases, 4,300 more asylum officers and new policies so they can resolve cases in six months instead of six years. now >> what do you again? >> so you can see james the look on james lankford space as he nods along with that, and his colleagues sit in stony silence. what what is your view of how, what the next turn of this is based on the president's performance last night. yeah. i mean, that not >> set it all and i think we've heard from lankford already that he is very aware but he stands different from his colleagues on this. i've asked him before, do you think you know that the republican demand that biden can do something with executive action like is that going to solve it on? and he says, no, we need to pass congressional legislation to address as he can't do it all with executive actions. so that was kind of a point driven yesterday, president biden made very clear that the fact that that border bill done it was on republicans and all donald trump. and so i think that he really, we know we heard from democrats. we also saw even some republicans in the background say he really nailed it there. you really drove the point across and he kind of that is the message. he's going to take on the trail that he and democrats tried to pass this bill. but, it failed because of donald trump's snap its fingers. yeah i do want to touch on the republican response as well, furnish because i've gotten i woke up to several emails >> from republicans actually in my inbox saying, you know, having katie britt, a woman do this state of the union from rebuttal from her kitchen table, perhaps sent the wrong message to women voters but let's set that aside and show a little bit of katie britt. she is the youngest republican woman elected to the senate. she's from alabama. she was actually a long time congressional aids, so she's very well-known on the hill. she's also on president trump's shortlist to potentially be vice president. let's watch a little bit of her address right now. >> our >> commander in chief is not in command the free world deserves better than a dithering and diminished leader >> xi has furnished, i'm >> interested in what you're hearing from your sources about her performance. i got to say this is like the toughest assignment in politics, like no one ever really comes out of this, looking a lot shinier than when they went in for whatever reason. i mean, it's incredibly difficult to follow the president marco rubio, of course, had it famously, there was a water bottle involved what have you been hearing about how people think she performed? >> i mean, the expectations for katie britt. were astronomical, especially because in a lot of ways she was handpicked by the former president donald trump and stuff. you know, he called her up and said you know, what is going on with ivf. she was the woman of the moment. she was able to get republicans over this really difficult issue, which is reproductive rights in this election cycle. and there's high expectations for i think that from what i've heard from many republican is that she seemed the tone was not maybe in line with some of the things she was saying there was a bit of drama there that maybe necessarily see that a little bit. i mean, she had to enter objective way that it didn't meet the moment. but yeah, i mean, expectations as for her were sky high. she's seen as a rising star and like you said, she's on his shortlist for the vice presidency. >> let's touch on to turn back to what we saw last night from president biden one of the things that the very top of his speech i was at the capitol on january 6. forgive me. i don't know if you were were up here yet the way to the country has shifted in terms of how republicans now talk about it from how they were talking about on that day when they were actually under attack, three years out, when the politics of it apparently have shifted and so have many of them president biden addressed it very close to the top of his address. i want to play what he had to say about his predecessor and what trump would do and just spend a second with the republican reaction to it. watch >> my predecessor on some of you here, seek to bury the truth about january 6 >> i will not do that. >> this is a moment to >> speak to truth and the bury the lives. here's the simple truth. you can't love your country only when you, win we don't have the reaction shot there, but the republican states seated for that this has become, i mean, some of the notes i got suggest that this is one of the things where people said, well, that's just a democratic base issue, which again, as someone who was there, i still find repeatedly stunning what what do you hear from people that you talked to about this? i mean, definitely not just a democratic issue. i know that it's not pulling maybe as high as other issues for republicans like immigration or the economy. but there's still a very tight group of moderate republicans who are concerned of what would happen if second trump term comes around and they are saying they might not. they're going to vote for trump, but they still are worried about what that says. their democracy. and i think we saw that slight nod from mike johnson behind biden when he said that i know that republicans didn't stand up, but there's definitely that recognition. there. a lot of these folks still remember what happened that day and they still know that that is something that at some point we'll need to be addressed, but they're rather not talk about it because again, it would benefit the former president. yeah, well, here we are. all right for new shimarri very on how far. oh, thank you. both very much for being with us this morning. >> all right. i'm next a move to ban tiktok in america effectively ban tiktok in america, gaining momentum on capitol hill. >> plus the congresswoman debbie dingell is live for us passionate, often fiery my message, the president putin, who i've known for a long time is simple. we will not walk away we will not fall down will not bow down >> president biden refused to mention donald trump by name, but he was all through this speech where he was referred to as my predecessor by president biden, at least 13 times. so the question on everyone's minds going in was whether he would do enough to calm fears that he's too old it's a gift for more years joining us now to talk about some of this is the democratic congresswoman from michigan, debbie dingell, congresswoman. good morning to you. thanks so much, everyone here. >> we were talking before the speech. and you had confidence going in. i saw him give you a kiss on the cheek on his way down the aisle, even though you've been you know, little critical of like, how he's doing is his campaign in michigan. >> take >> us inside the room during the speech. >> how do you think he performed last night? did he meet the bar? >> and what >> struck you about how this speech was different from others? >> so i thought he did a great job with i told you before this speech, i thought that he would would people like joe biden beat joe biden the country sees the man that will be president for another four years. i think he laid out what he had accomplished, which is something that we've needed to do a far better job of doing. talk about the different i've been like the jab did he got in that a lot of you didn't vote for your taking credit for some of the programs, but he also laid out what his future was and i think he tried to be positive, which is what i think that we need. you know, it's going to build on the middle-class. he's going to protect people's freedoms and is going to protect democracy. >> what do you so to republican critics who say that this speech was too divisive i think that joe biden is someone that tries to bring people together. and i think that he said that again last night he was very clear that democracy is part of what we are fighting for. he does not like the, the hatred, the divisions, the feisty nas that we are seeing each other face more every day. and when it comes to the border, he said, republicans work with me. what this says, come work, work with me. any means it referred to several times to the speech bipartisan effort t is undertaken you, know i, know joe, biden i've known them forever. this is a man that's like me, be wants to work across the aisle. he wants to work with everybody. but i think he also showed last night is that he's going to stand up to things that are going to hurt this country and the world so we saw, we've seen in recent years kind of breaches of decorum with increasing frequency republicans that the house speaker >> told them to cool it mostly that seemed to happen. the one sort of outlier was marjorie taylor greene, who put on that make america great again, hat and she handed him a a button that had laken riley's name on it. she of course, was a nursing student, was killed in georgia the president took it. there. she is doing that right there. and it led to this impromptu moment that i want to show everyone. here's president biden last night talking about laken riley from the dais laken riley an innocent young woman who was killed. >> why? i'm illegal? >> that's right. >> but how many thousands of people being killed by legal to her parents, i say my heart goes out to you, having lost children myself i understand are you comfortable with what he did there? and he used the word illegal, which many democrats no longer use >> i think what it was trying to do is just say, look i mean, those were the words that merger taylor greene was using and i think he was using those births bare words back. i think he was showing that he had empathy for what happened. but we pumpkin say they want to do something, but they will not a bipartisan bill work done by conservative senators that reached agreement won't consider it because oh, it might give a democrat to win. this should never be a democratic issue or republican issue american people want a win at the border and what happened to her was horrific. he also did talk about i frequently want to say to people when they talk about things that have happened in, they want to take a look, paint brush and paint everybody the same way from my state, the oklahoma bombing was one of the worst domestic, if not the worst domestic terrorism issues we've seen. but because the nicholas brothers came from michigan, doesn't mean that everybody in michigan is bad. i think that we do need to do something about the border. he wants to get more money just to get more border agents there, to get more people in the court. why can't we work on this together? he said republicans work with me he means it. >> the other thing that was, of course difficult for the president to handle because of how charge the issue is, is the war in gaza. and they announced that us troops are going to be involved in building this humanitarian corridor for gazans >> i'm interested to know. do you think that it is going to be enough clearly it's not going to be enough, i guess i should say i should answer my own question that regard. but do you support the president in this action to use american troops to make this corridor >> and how do you >> respond to elon omar sat down on the floor and held up that sign. stop sending bombs. was that the right thing and to do this is what we need to cease fire. i was praying. i know that he has been working to get a temporary ceasefire, which i then prayed goes into a permanent ceasefire he acknowledged last night the loss of life that's happened to civilians in the children that are being killed. and quite frankly, it is just unacceptable that we cannot get humanitarian aid and their children are starving. i mean every day i'm talking to families and seeing the pictures. all of us are i think anybody with a heart and soul knows how bad it is i do not know what's going on behind closed doors. i think at some point, i don't think at some point i think we've got to stand up to netanyahu. i don't we need more humanitarian aid. i'm glad that we're doing that because even when we get to ceasefire, the horrific refik refik conditions on the ground but i can tell you that my community, some of the communities i've many communities, they're complicated communities that i meet with all of them. but the young people and the college campuses and every american muslims want to seize far, they don't want to see anybody else die i thought he was very strong now a two-state solution, which is something else i think if anything comes out of this, we get a two-state solution for two nations to live. >> please. >> briefly, i do want to touch on one other story outside of the state of the union, but it's relevant because the president focused so much on democracy. a katie porter member, a current member of the house of representatives, running for senate in california, said that she she said in a statement that they had billionaires has spent millions to rig, quote, unquote rig, this election is that language democrat should be using look at i love katie she's a good friend. i have not looked into exactly what got done there, but i will tell you there's too much money. >> i mean, i >> really do believe people need to look at the amount of money that has been spent in that rigged election language is that not a slippery slope? >> well i think katie was mad and katie was. and where the republican it's been a great deal of money. we need to look at these independent expenditures that are happening at all these elections. and the kind of money that's poured in and not telling the truth and many instance, i don't know the senate race, i haven't looked at the ads, but i think we should all be concerned about the large amounts of money that are being hidden. the people don't know what's been spent being brought in in the last few minutes. in many races, cross-country, it's happened in several congressional races. it it does tip the scales in, it does all right. >> congresswoman debbie dingell is going to stick around with us to join us at the top of the hour. so thank you very much for that. >> but time now for sports timberwolves. >> all-star anthony edwards delivers an epic game winning block to put the finishing touch on a 44 point performance. andy scholes has this morning's bleacher report any morning morning case, you know, i've seen a lot of amazing blocks and by live, but this is why anybody ever it's an all time or and it saved the game for the timberwolves, set the scene t-wolves up by 27 seconds left, pacers pushing the ball after a rebound. erin, nice myth door for the lab, but aditi edwards, this flies in for the blog. edwards jumping so high that he hit his head on the rim. >> what >> that one some the game for minnesota won 13.1, 11. here was edwards afterwards on that block >> i hit my head, i think on the ram is hurting real bad. my risk but i mean, you know, i saw him with the lane. i knew he was going to put a layup and i was like, man, i'm going to go get this. i never jumped to have my life our office was just as impressive as his deep anti scored the t woes final eight points of this game on his way >> to a season-high 44 points. minnesota we're going to need these kind of efforts from him after the news yesterday, they star karl-anthony towns is going to be out until at least the playoffs as he needs surgery to repair a torn meniscus. all right. elsewhere, we got to potential nba finals preview last sides he gets hosted the celtics nikola jokic operating down low. he's going to ms but aaron gordon with just an upstart put-back slam the reaction nuggets bits there, just priceless well as the celtics, they rallied late to make this a two-point game, but then it was jokic did goarn for the alley-oop that sealed it. jokic 32 points, another triple, double for him, nuggets would win that game one 15 to one or nine. there's seven and won since the all-star break are vitally former undisputed heavyweight
