[ speaking in a global language ] we should be clear, this is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. So you are seeing the fallout there from the air strike at a refugee camp, and also, you are seeing the live pictures of the plumes of smoke, and we were watching as air strikes were happening, and that is a resultf more air strike, and as you heard kate say, more than 130 have been conducted and this is probably 15 minutes ago, and they are continuing to barrage. That is what is happening on the southern border with israel. We have seen the tanks rolling towards that area from israel. But we also now gotten reporting that the Israel Defense forces are saying that they have used a helicopter to strike inside of lebanese territory to the north. Those pictures are those tanks that i was mentioning coming to the border to israels south. But in lebanon, there has been a strike by an israeli helicopter, partly because the Israel Defense forces say that they have found militants who have come over the border, and they have engaged them, and they were armed suspects, and they have shot and killed. All of this is happening at the same time, and fear of a regio regional congregation, but right now, there is active war in gaza and lebanon border. So Nic Robertson is on the ground for us all morning, and you have been on the ground, and we have seen that tank going by you, and you are inching closer for the border, and what is that situation near you now . Yes, john. Zooming in, we will look in towards gaza, and the plume of smoke, and whatever has been burning, there it has been burning for some time. That is the impact site of one of the air strikes that we have seen on gaza, and multiple times fighter jets fly by. We have heard the multiple impacts, and we have heard the detonations of what sounds like heavy artillery, and occasionally firing bush the dense plume of black smoke really curls around in the sky here. Just to give you a little warning, if you are hearing a loud explosion here shortly, dont panic, because the eod team is on site. They have found some grenades here, and they are going to make the grenades safe, and detonate them, but the grenades were found in and amongst the area where the vehicles are over here, and where all of the partygoers on Early Saturday Morning were chased down by hamas, and 260 of them brutally murdered by hamas. That white vehicle is a hamas vehicle, and the Israeli Defense force came on scene and took out the hamas fighters and more vehicles and hamas fighters killed arn the corner here. But what we are witnessing here, you saw the tank drive through early on, and military patrols here, and hearing the distant arms fire coming from direction of gaza, and this area is more and more active Military Zone as it has been secured through this early hours of the day, and the Israeli Defense force say they had secured this force from the possibility of any hamas infiltration, and they had gotten rid of any hamas infiltration here. And at the moment, we are seeing the build up of the strikes, and the cleanup after the hamas attack, and this is going to be turned around, because they are going to be detonating the explosives they found down there ever so shortly. At least 700 people were killed in the weekends Terror Attack, and thousands more wounded, and people are still wounded and killed at this hour. There were also kidnappings as the israelis were grabbed by the hamas fighters, and as you heard from Nic Robertson, that there were kidnappings as people had hamas militants coming into the homes, and taking children out. The group says it has more than 100 israeli hostages, and earlier this morning, we spoke to a woman who was beside herself, and her Family Members had been taken by hamas. She ended up speaking with our becky anderson, but first, we want to go the shawn turner who is going to join us life. Can you give us a sense, mr. Turner, about where we are right now in the sense that we are watching this happen, both lebanon now involved in some way, and israel said that it had strike permission because they were sending militants across the border, and israel responding with a barrage, and saying they will take siege to all of gaza, and to rid it of hamas. What is the end game here . How do you see it playing out . Yeah, sara. Since the very start of the conflict, i have been talking to the colleagues in the National Security community and other National Security circles, and the concern is that everyone concerned that this conflict is a larger regional conflict, and what to do to prevent that. It is increasingly possible with what we have seen over the last couple of hour, and preventing a larger regional conflict is going to be under way. No way that hamas could have orchestrated a Well Financed And Organized Advancement Without The Support of iraq. What we have seen from the last half hour or so with israel needs to strike the forces into lebanon, that is suggesting the worst Case Scenario is playing out here for the larger re regional. It is clear that the the israeli officials have said they will bring everything they have to put the conflict down. And we are talking about the terror state in the form of hamas and hezbollah and other, and while we are recognizing that israel is doing what it needs to do to defend itself, we have to watch carefully, and the United States has to play a key role in making sure that the larger regional conflict is something that we are trying to be good for the people of israel or the United States. And now, hamas says they have more than 100 people they have kidnapped and taken back to gaza, and israel is saying they are going in to do the strikes and trying to avoid the civilian, but this is the most densely populated city on earth, and how is that possible to happen, and how do you see it, the response of those in. Yes, sara. What you need is to do is precise surgical strikes on the targets with the highest likelihood not to put the citizens in a harms way, but you to remember that this is a small area, an area of 25 miles wide. And dense area, and a lot of the urban fighting. And we know that the hamas fighters are going to strategically use and keep the forces at bay with regard to the nature of strikes they are going to launch. So thinking about the situation that israel is in right now, and there is going to be a couple of things that are key. Look, this strike group that is moving into the region, and that curious strike group is going to provide that and this difficult for Israeli Forces is that there is a level of restraint that needs to be there if not for the hostages. Israel is focused on making sure that the people are not injured or harmed as they are being held by hamas. That is going to make this very difficult for them Going Forward. Having been in gaza myself, there are civilians who are injured or kill, because it is so densely and its they say they are going to be sending military aid faster than normally, but also a Aircraft Carrier on the way to mediterranean, and can you give us a sense of how this is going to play a role in all of this . Sure. This particular Carrier Strike group is a massive show of force here in the area, and talking about 5 thu to 6,000 u. S. Military service members, and this particular Aircraft Carrier is the navys latest, and most advanced Aircraft Carrier, and the u. S. S. Ford and a Destroyer Squadron on efforts to beef up squadrons in the region. So recognizing that hamas needs to be resupplied if they continue the fight. This Aircraft Carrier is going to be there to interrupt supply lines, and also important that the Carrier Strike group can provide additional equipment, munitions, intelligence and other resources to the israelis. But the most important thing that you will get the deterrence. And as i said at the outset, the worst Case Scenario is that it is a larger regional conflict and when you have a Carrier Strike group, and firepower in this area, the best chance to have calmer heads prevail is to have a massive u. S. Presence there. Sos asaid, it is unlikely, but it is good that it is there, and hopefully to make some progress on the diplomatic side. Shawn, thank you so much for going through that with us, and again, with relistening to the sounds of air strikes going off there in gaza. You are seeing the results of those. There is that sound again, and it is a terrifying terrifying sound, and you will see the destruction of the buildings, and these will usually take down entire highrises and hundreds of thousands of people who live there in a densely populated aerd ya, and no area, but isl says it is going to strike hamas sites where they have been creating missiles or planning the attacks and one after another, we are seeing these happen over and over and over again this morning. As we heard from the Israeli Military, they are going to lay complete siege as they put it to gaza. And we are watching it happen. Well over 100 targets, hamas targets inside of gaza as you are continuing to look at the pic pictures, but this is not the only place of activity, because we are getting word of Helicopter Activity near the lebanese border. And there was a statement telling the israeli civilians near that lebanon Israeli Borders to stay in their homes. We go to hadas gold in jerusalem, and what are you hearing from the north, hadas . Yes, a lot of concern over the situation in the north, because of course, if that is turning into another major front, and hezbollah is involved backed by iran, and that is going to push this conflict into another level. These Helicopter Battle was engaged with gunmen, and not sure if there were casualties on either side, but we know that the military also struck some sites around the border. But we are potentially getting the reports that the islamic jihad, the islamic palestine jihad is potentially taking responsibility for this. That is not confirmed, and that would give some sort of the way out of a potential direct confrontation with hezbollah, but keep in mind that essentially nothing happens in southern lebanon without hezbollah being aware or if not outright allowing it to happen there, and it gives them plausible deniability saying that it was not us. It will make israels arsenal look like nothing. So this could open up another front. And they are also backed up by iran. So is there any sort of coordination or plan for hezbollah to get involved and we have heard from the Prime Minister saying that they dont want to get involved in this war, the lebanese Prime Minister, but they dont have any control over the hezbollah actions. And the lebanese dont have any control over that region from which the attacks over the border into israel would be happening, and obviously watching that region very, very closely. Sirens are breaking out in jerusalem, and tel aviv, and this morning, the Israeli Forces as we have been watching playing out wide, they are conducting wide scale strikes in gaza and we will have much more on this Breaking News straight ahead. Thabd war about 1,300 people, the death toll is nearing number and at least nine are u. S. Citizens that have been killed in the attack on israel. There are still unknown numbers of people who are missing. Cnns Natasha Bertrand is joining us now. Natasha, what more can you tell us about the americans that are still missing or unaccounted for following the attacks as a lot of people are coming out saying, look, they believe they have been kidnapped or they cannot find them, and no information as to whether they might be. Reporter as you said, sara, so many are missing or killed at this point. The number of u. S. Citizens killed is nine. But that number could rise, and that is what the u. S. Officials are fearing at this point. And the point is because the was rayleigh and there are just over 100 people who have been taken hostage by hamas there. And we should note they have one of the biggest expat dual citizenships there. And this is what Matthew Millar told cnn this morning about this. I can confirm that nine americans unfortunately have lost their lives as a result of the horrific attacks in the region. We are in close contact with the government of real i can confirm that i can find missing military personnel, and missing civilian personnel. M. , and they are noing in Loer Sheltering in place. But they are keeping a close eye ton the and also tox keep people out of israel. Pastor, there is a long delay here, so i will only have one more question. What are the plans Going Forward and how do you intend to get out of this now war zone . We intend to cross over into jordan as soon as we can, and travel from jordan. Unfortunately the tour actually was of course canceled because of the war, and it started the day we arrived, but we are somewhat conflicted, because our hearts are with the people here, and both the israelis and the palestinians who are suffering on both sides of this, and it is a horrific situation here, and our faith traditions teach us that violence not the answer, and that we are supposed to listen to the stories those who are our neighbors, and promote their wellbeing. Being here as a compassionate presence is a gift that we did not intend,
