Two down and 17 to go. Donald trumps codefendants are starting to surrender to face charges in Fulton County, georgia. Trump, himself, he is set to turn himself in thursday at the very same jail and be set out on bond. And there are the candidates of the Republican Party for the very first president ial gop debate. Surrendered, booked, processed, and accused coconspirators alongside former President Donald Trump have started to turn themselves in at the jail at Fulton County. Two booked and at least one released. There is a whole lot of activity in atlanta today after the former president agreed to a 200,000 bond deal last night and posted it on social media that he is going to be sur rending thursday. It is the fourth arrest this year including the first mugshot. Cnns Katelyn Polantz is standing by with more of the details coming in, and katelyn, two booked and 17 more to go. A lot more the go. And there is a lot happening at the courthouse, and this morning the boldfaced headline is john eastman, the most prominent person who gained the notoriety after the election, and well known conservative lawyer who is also a scholar has now been arrested and he has been booked at the Fulton County jail. He has the Bond Agreement already set. It is very likely he is going to be released and we dont have an indication that john eastman has been released from Fulton County jail yet in georgia, but he is the most prominent defendant to head over to the jail and go through this process of the Criminal Justice system, something that every one of the defendants in this case of 19, the Racketeering Case against donald trump and others for what they were planning to do to stop the transfer of power, and all of them will have a bond hearing and then go to the jail to be released on cash bond or some sort of surety or personal recognizance. But donald trump, he has the bond set, and has some restrictions and no intimidating the witnesses including on social media in this case, and we are going to be waiting for him to come into the state of georgia to also go through this process of being arrested an report to jail as a criminal defendant in georgia in Fulton County. Absolutely. Katelyn is getting all of the details. Thank you so much, katelyn. Sara . Joining us is Chris Timmons former Trial Attorney and prosecutor. And now, i wanted to ask you, because you knownknow better th anyone how this works, and can you give us a sense of how this is going to work being booked into that Fulton County jail . Yes, what happens is that typically you have someone come in and meet at the front desk and figure out what case they are associated with, and looking at the arrest warrant. After that, they are taken into the back where they are fingerprinted and mugshot, and usually some sort of medical assessm, and some additional administrative matters before they are taken to the holding tank and then moved to general population in the jail or released. It seems to happen very quickly and two people have gone in and one went in and at 10 or 15 minutes and out of the door, the Bail Bondsman who first turned himself in, and john eastman, the former Trump Attorney has also turned himself in. I wanted the ask you about some of the details of the trump bond order, and in the next 48 hours, he is expected to go through the same process. The unusual thing for the country is that he is also going to be having a mugshot which he has not had that yet in the four times that he has been arrested, but let me ask you about the restrictions, and is this agreement for the bond order normal or the addition of the Social Media Restrictions, is that unique to donald trump . It is unique to donald trump, and usually where you see the Social Media Restriction is in a case where you have got Stalking Issues and then at that point, you are concerned that the defendant might talk about the victim on social media. But this one of the more extensive Bond Agreements that i have ever seen and i was a prosecutor for 17 1 2 years and probably saw literally 2,000 Bond Agreements and the first one they have seen that is that detailed. Can you give me a sense of what would happen to the former president if he violates any of those agreements . I mean, he is living in generally in florida, and if he violates it, what can the judge do, and extradition if he had to be jailed . Yeah, i mean, all of that is going to happen. And so what happens is if somebody violates a bond condition, the case is brought before the judge in this case, and in this case, it is judge mcafee, and what would happen is that the judge would revoke the bond, and then a hearing to make a decision to the standard of probable cause meaning greater than 50 that the defendant has violated the bond. You dont get a jury trial. You have essentially a hearing before the junldge, and the sta is going to put up whatever evidence they have of the bond violation, and the judge makes a decision if it has been violated or not, and the interesting thing is if you have Witness Intimidation, you can always file a superseding indictment, and the Witness Intimidation is a Rico Predicate, and what happens in this case is if he violates the bond, and that is a Rico Predicate. I didnt know that it was a Rico Predicate and it could be added to the charges. It is a serious thing that people dont realize when a judge says that you better not do this, and you have to be careful to skirt the rules. I want to put up a couple of things that trump put up since this agreement was made. And he goes after criticizing fani willis, the d. A. In Fulton County, and they are there sidebyside, and talks about her being a radical District Attorney and he says it a couple of times, but she is not in this, right . If he can criticize the judge and the attorneys, and would that ever change . No. I mean, once you get to the level of what is referred to as a terroristic threat, and you are threatening somebody with physical violence and that not a problem where we have seen a tweet where he has threatened physical violence and so that is unnecessary, but where you have a bond order to look at the condition, and the Biggest Issue is Witness Intimidation, and the Biggest Issue is if they are coming to court, and that is why the bond is in play, and interesting that it is a 200,000 bond which is hard to meet for most individuals and the bond is that high, because you are concerned with flight, but in this particular case when you donald trump who i believe is literally a billionaire, 200,000 is Pocket Change to him, and so that would not prevent flight, but what is going to prevent flight, i believe and i am not sure, but donald trump would want a trial in this case and an opportunity to address the entire country if not the entire world if there was voter fraud in georgia. Chris timmons, there is questions if he is an actual billionaire, but he has a lot of money. Appreciate your time. Sure. Thank you. Now, special counsel jack smiths team is pushing back after Donald Trumps legal team called for delaying the election subversion trial, and this the federal case until 2026, and prosecutors want january 2024. Jessica schneider is in washington, and so, what are the prosecutors arguments here, jessica . John, this is a back and forth battle between the special cou counsels team, and the lawyers and how soon the trial here in washington can get started. The special counsel has proposed january 2024, and trumps team is saying that they wont be able to start until 2026, and overnight that the special counsels team really called that huge gap in time unwarranted and unnecessary. The big Sticking Point here is mostly about how many documents trumps team is going to review. The special counsel has said in open court and filings that there are 11. 6 million pages of documents as part of the discovery and when trumps team laid out the arguments for delaying until 2026, they laid out the images of how many pages that actually s and in fact, they compared it at one point to the Washington Monument stacked on top of itself eight times with one million pages to spare in their words. But the special counsel is shooting back and saying that the description is overblown. Specifically, they are saying that the former president and his team should really already be familiar with most of the documents as part of this discovery. They are putting it this way, and saying that the lengthy time needed to review rests on the faulty assertion that it is necessary for a lawyer to conduct a pagebypage review of discovery for a defendant to receive a fair trial, but the defendant can, should, and apparently will adopt electronic review to reduce the volumes that will be searched and manually reviewed. So what the special counsel is really saying there that trumps team can do the key word searches and familiar with most of the material, and john, of course, most of the arguments in filings, we will see them in person, and they have the next hearing on monday where they will battle this out, and perhaps a trial date will be set at that point. The question of course is if any of them will be able to break through or if former President Donald Trump when he surrenders to the Fulton County officials in georgia will dissolve any bump. Vivek ramaswamy is on the rise, and he is a Crowd Pleaser and entertainer, and he is a oneliner machine. So if you are looking for the fresh face, you know, he is going to be the guy with the most opportunities to introduce himself, because 99 of normal americans never heard of this guy. So he could come on to make a big impression. I think that the ideas are terrible, but he is a great performer. David urban . Yeah, i agree with van. You know, this is the folks on the debate stage arent going to be making big policy speeches, because nobody going to be taking attention to that, and it is the roger ailes sort of debate stage, and so, i think that Vivek Ramaswamy will come out the best. And the Orchestra Pit here is that almost anything that anybody remembers is who falls into the Orchestra Pit. And what roger ailes said, nobody remembers your policy or what smart thing you said, but it is the biggest flare up, and to that end, david, who has the most the lose, a, donald trump, b, ron desantis, c, Vivek Ramaswamy or d, someone else . I think that ron desantis has the most to lose. Everyone is expecting a big performance from him, and he has to deliver a big per for marngs and he has incredibly gifted debate coach as jeff alluded to earlier, and he has done a number of debate preps and working hard on this, and the expectations are so high here for Governor Desantis that if he does not hit a grand slam, the folks are going to be let down, and he has the most to lose. Van . I agree, and it is weird like this thing is almost like, you are wanting for him to fail and mess up. It is almost like this thing that they are waiting for him to, you know, prove that he is a robot, and prove that he is stiff and awkward, and if you are Chris Christie, you know, you are really prepared to take him on for being overly programmed, and i am sure that he has Chris Christie in his head as well. We will see how it goes. Look, this guy is number two for a reason, and he has done well in terms of being able to project himself, and nobody heard of him a couple of years ago either, but he is used to the Florida Press corps who lets him rattle on to say whatever dumb thing that he wants and not used to having someone pump him in the neck, body and the rest of him for the whole night. And now, who has won the predebate . Usually, heading into the debate what you want to do is to set the lowest possible expectation, and george w. Bush used to say that if he walked out on the stage and he didnt drool, people would think that he won the debate, and he had a fantastic debate, so who has one lost the expectation s debate, desaa, Chris Christie, b, ron desantis, c, donald trump, or d, None Of The Above, insert name. Well, i would say None Of The Above. Well, van and i have agreed on all of these and this is bad. Well, donald trump is sucking the oxygen out of the room today, and everybody is talking about, you know, trump turning himself in, and he is going to have an interview with Tucker Carlson posted someplace tomorrow, and thursday, he is going to be turning himself in now, and talking about it thursday, and again, the Orchestra Pit theory, unless someone has a great zinger tomorrow, and it is really memorable, i think that trump is going to be the big winner here in the predebate, post debate and elsewhere. And now, this is not a multiple choice question, but we talk about setting the expectations before the debate, and what happened with the desantis, and the Desantis Super pac, and he laid out the strategy, and how big of a mistake was that, and also, Chris Christie likes to sort of preview that hes the toughest and biggest puncher on that stage, and how high of a bar is he setting for himself, david . Yeah, look, Chris Christie is an incredibly gifted political athlete, and very nimble and quickwitted and he has done it before and been there before, and like van alluded to earlier, Chris Christie lived in the new york media bubble, and the New York Times and lots of tough questions from tough press. He is used to doing this, and hes going to do a good job. I dont know what anybody in terms of the, you know, the previewing the strategies is really going to matter here. You know, once you get on the stage, it is like the old mike tyson quote, everybody has a plan until you are punched in the nose, and once you get up there on the stage, there is a lot of the punching in the nose, and everyones plan is going out the window, and we will see how they do. You can get punched in the nose and fall into the Orchestra Pit to mix the metaphors there. Van . Well, look, Chris Christie is going to be doing great, and i dont think that he has an expectation problem, because people expect him to come out there to attack donald trump, but it is a Big Pitfall For Desantis to put the entire strategy out there, and when he says things, people will say, is that the playbook, and is that what you are told to say with the robotic thing, and it just rolls off of the tongue, because you know what he is going to be saying before it comes out, and that is a big mistake, and it does point out that you cant run the campaign, and how are you going to be running the country, buddy. Two additional victims of the maui wildfires have now been identified. 59yearold Douglas Gloug and juan deleone, and both residents of lahaina, and even still, a tough reality is that many of the missing may never be found. About 850 people are still unaccounted for and the death toll stands at 115 people killed. The officials are now saying that they have been able to search all singlestory residential buildings which then leads to another phase, combing through the commercial and multi Story Properties destroyed by the flames. Well, kate, on that visit, President Biden and the first lady were able to see firsthand the destruction of the land on maui, and the devastation of the people. They saw that fire ravaged area by air from marine 1 and by foot touring the rubble with local officials and search dogs committed to the recovery area. President biden saw the burned out buildings, and burned out cars, and he asked questions of why some land was more susceptible to burning than other parts of the land. He was given frank assessments by the local officials about how maui got to this position and what is going to be needed from the government to rebuild from here. Emergency crews have evacuated more than 200 patients including babies and people on ventilators from a hospital after a power outage. Officials say that a woman gave birth during this blackout, and all she had was a light from a flashlight. Cnns nick watt is live from los angeles with the latest. What is going on. Well, john, they call it a special care tower, six stories high, and 241 patients including 28 in critical condition, and a few hours ago, in the middle of the night, a total power blackout. No power at all come into the building. How did this happen . Take a listen to president of the hospital saying what they do and dont know. We are in the mode of investigating that. We dont know the cause of the double failure that we have had there at the hospital other than the fact that we had a major storm that hit us here in southern california. Reporter so the first problem was 3 00 a. M. Monday morning when the Tropical Storm was moving past los angeles, the main power failed. The backup generators kicked in. That was fine, and then in the middle of the night last night about 1 00 a. M. , those connectors from the backup generators to the tower, they failed as well. Total blackout. So, l. A. Fire department was called and obviously with no power, there are no elevators and the firefighters had to take people down the stairwells to Waiting Ambulances and to safety. Meyers son said it was raided after a story in the newspaper and they said it was termed what they said was identity theft, but the prosecutors have ordered the police to return all of the items they have seized.
