japan just detected its first case hours ago, and that means that 19 countries or territories have diagnosed at least one case of omicron. there are no confirmed cases in the u.s. as of now, and with so much still unknown about this new strain, president biden is urging everyone to remain calm. >> this variant is a cause for concern, not a cause for panic. we have the best vaccine in the world, the best medicines, the best scientists, and we're learning more every single day. >> let's be clear, there's nothing unexpected about the spread of omicron around the world, and there is every reason to expect it could already be in the united states. that in and of itself is not a reason to for worry that much. the president doesn't anticipate more travel bans or new lockdowns. he says both options are off the table. the administration is redoubling its push for vaccinations. >> the unvaccinated need to get vaccinated, and those who are eligible to get boosted should get boosted. if you get the level of antibody high enough, the protection spills over to those other variants. >> the cdc is strengthening its language on vaccines. instead of telling americans they may get a booster, the message is they should get a booster. >> here in a few hours, fed chairman jerome powell will be testifying about the three major threats the variant poses to the u.s. economy. joining me now is cnn's athena jones. that are we looking for here? >> as john mentioned, previous cdc guidance says anyone 18 and older may get a booster. now they're saying all adults should get one when eligible. that's because the expectation is that vaccines, especially the level of antibody response that comes with boosters, will provide some protection from omicron. the truth is, it'll take a few weeks before we know for sure. >> reporter: the president calling for calm. >> this variant is a cause for concern, not a cause for panic. >> reporter: as omicron, a new coronavirus variant, first detected in south africa, begins to spread around the world. >> omicron is like a wake-up call, as though we needed another wake-up call, to vaccinate the world. what we've got here is a five-alarm blaze, and the world has not sent out enough fire trucks. >> reporter: raising new concerns and questions. >> good evidence that it is highly contagious. maybe more contagious than the delta variant. i am worried the vaccines will take a hit on their efficacy. if they do, that's going to make it harder to control this pandemic. >> reporter: the omicron variant has at least 50 mutations. moderna's chief medical officer told cnn it includes some shared with the highly contagious delta variant that drove a deadly summer surge in the united states. the new variant has become the most dominant strain in south africa less than two weeks after it was first detected. the strain confirmed on five continents and more than a dozen countries, including canada. the u.s. joining the european union and other countries in restricting travel from certain southern african nations. a move health experts say may slow down the variant's spread but won't stop it. >> this is an illusion of protection. it is like locking a screen door. you feel you've done something to protect yourself, but you really haven't. >> reporter: u.s. federal health officials are bracing for omicron to be detected here, with the cdc sequencing coronavirus genomes and working closely with state health officials. it won't be clear for weeks how transmissible omicron is, whether it causes more severe or less illness, and whether the vaccines can provide protection. moderna and pfizer stressing they're ready to respond quickly if changes to the vaccines are needed. >> we have been preparing for a moment like that the last few months. we're prepared to win this battle. >> reporter: health officials say the best way to protect yourself is for the unvaccinated to get vaccinated, and for those eligible for booster doses to get them. >> we have every reason to believe, even though this is an extraordinary, unusual variant because of the number of mutations, there's no reason to believe that it will not happen, that if you get the level of antibody high with the regular booster to the regular vaccine, that you're going to have at least some effect, and hopefully a good effect, on an ability to protect against this variant. vaccination is going to be the solution to this, whether it is the delta variant or whether it's the omicron variant. >> there are mitigation efforts like mask wearing. officials in new york city, where there are no identified cases of omicron, are now highly recommending everybody wear a mask while indoors and in public places, regardless of vaccination status. it is an attempt to get ahead of the spread of this variant when it is discovered here. >> athena jones, thank you very much for that. we should say, just moments from now, we'll talk to the south african doctor who is currently treating patients infected with the omicron variants. one of the first doctors to see it firsthand. hear what she says about the patients' conditions. you might be surprised. >> looking forward to that. a phone call between republican congresswoman boebert and omar didn't do a lot after boebert insinuated omar was a suicide bomber. here is how boebert described the phone call. >> i never want anything i say to offend someone's religion. i told her that. she kept asking for a public apology. i told omar that she should make a public apology to the american people for her anti-american, anti-semitic, anti-police rhetoric. >> so omar reportedly hung up on boebert, and then she issued the following statement. instead of apologizing for her islamopaphobic comments and lie congresswoman boebert didn't acknowledge her hurtful comments but doubled down on the rhetoric, so i decided to end the call. i want to engage those we disagree with respectfully, but not when it is rooted in outright bigotry and hate. let's discuss this with congresswoman deb bie dingell o michigan. it is sad to watch this back and forth. i wonder what your reaction is to it. >> you know, i'm really -- well, good morning. i'm really concerned about what we're watching and witnessing happening in this country. what you just described is in the halls of congress which is the heart of democracy. but we have scenes like that playing out across the country. this country is being divided by fear and hatred and violence. we need to all take a deep breath. we can disagree with each other. we can do it respectfully. we need to respect each and every individual, whoever they are, wherever they came from, whatever their religion is. i just would like everybody in this country to take a deep, collective breath, and start to think about the hateful things we are beginning to accept as okay. >> what do you worry that that kind of thing will spawn? >> well, you know, i'm going to talk a little about what i've witnessed. you know, a year ago, when men were at the capitol with assault weapons, not wearing gloves or masks, handing out candy, blocking emergency rooms, i defended my governor. people showed up outside my house with assault weapons. i think many congressional offices -- i don't know if it is most -- but i have young staff who really are wanting to help, care about the world. they help a lot of people every single day. they're also answering phones with hate and the spewing of things that, in my -- when i was young, i would have -- i don't know what would have happened. we were just taught that you don't act this way. so many people ways. my young people are scared, and i see it across the hill. my colleague, fred upton, who got eviscerated for voting for the infrastructure bill, for bringing money home to his district for roads and bridges and internet, getting lead out of pipe, his staff was rattled. he didn't care about the critique, but he was worried about his family and his staff. this has to stop. it is simply not okay. >> do you worry that congress will actually lose talent, that they will lose talented people because of these concerns? >> i very much worry about it. i talk to people who are, like, why would i -- first of all, they wonder why they, themselves, would want to do it, but they care about their families. they love their families. they care about people in their community. they don't want to put people that they love or care for at risk. and we can't let that happen. we need people of all kinds of backgrounds. that's what the house of representatives is. it is a representative body of this country who want to serve. public service is good, and it is only as good as the people that are willing to run and fight and be part of -- to fight for our freedom, to protect our democracy, protect our constitution, but do it in a civil, respectful, dignified way. >> what does leadership do, though, when, say, you know, disciplining lauren boebert here, censuring here, it actually just seems to give lauren boeberts and paul gosars exactly what they want and, honestly, politically, what they need? >> i'm trying to figure it out. i, by the way, represent the largest population of arab americans in the country. i've been dealing with this bigotry and hatred and threats since i got elected and, quite frankly, before i was elected, because of other things. this community really hurts. it really -- they're americans. here's something i want to remind people of, one of the worst incidents of terrorism in this country was in oklahoma by young, white men who were members of the michigan militia. we cannot look at somebody and judge them or have built-in ideas or think about what they are. we need to respect everybody, and i mean everybody. i think we've got to find a way. i really am focused on this collective, deep breath. this tit for tat, tit for tat, it is, you know -- i was reading gandhi last night. i was upset about some things. you know, an eye for an eye leaves everybody blind. we have to start to figure out how we're going to tone down, collectively, this anger, this vitriol in this country. >> i wish more people were reading gandhi, congresswoman. i do want to ask you, pabecause your office in dearborn was vandalized yesterday, broken into. do you know what was behind this? >> i don't. when the police called me, i met them over there at the office. none of my technology was taken. they had taken some paddles, patriotic paddles that had been given to me, taking it and damaged mem porabilia of my husband. police said it was personal. i'm not going to say that it didn't bother me, but i have removed all the important memorabilia, things that have sentimental or historical value to me, from the vaoffice, and i going back out today and doing my job. >> i'm really sorry for that, congresswoman. that must have been very upsetting, to lose some meme b -- memorabilia related to your late husband. i appreciate you being with us this morning. >> thank you. remember, everybody, just try a little kindness. >> i'm going to take a breath. i'll tell you that, congresswoman. sounds like a good idea. >> thank you. the omicron variant now a major political test for president biden as he steers the country out of another health crisis. plus, i'll speak live with the south arguments on whether to block the release of key documents that could pertain to the january 6th insurrection. former president trump is trying to keep them secret, citing executive privilege, but the house january 6th committee says they need them and they want them. joining me now, cnn's senior legal analyst elie honig, federal former and state prosecutor. explain to me where exactly we are in this case and what these documents are. >> john, it is a big case because you have the constitutional dimension, but also we have the specific documents that are at issue here. these are key documents for the january 6th committee's investigation. these are documents created by and about donald trump and his inner, inner circle on january 6th. we're talking about 770 plus pages of documents, internal workings, handwritten notes, internal memos, call logs, draft speeches, and the daily diary. now, here's where we are in the courts. our federal courts have three levels. we've already been to the u.s. district court, the trial court. now, here's how that came out. a judge, judge chutkin in washington, d.c., three weeks ago, she rejected the executive privilege argument. she says the committee gets the documents. the judge wrote presidents are not king, and, plaintiff, donald trump, is not president. that brings us to where we are today. >> what arguments do you expect today? >> back to our structure, we've already been here. now, we are here in the u.s. court of appeals for washington, d.c. now, this is going to be a three-judge panel. it is interesting to note, judge brown-jackson, she's a biden nominee to the court, one of his first nominees, also reportedly on his very short list if he does get a supreme court nominee. importantly, two years ago when she was a district court judge, she rejected a similar privilege claim in the don mcgahn case. the other judges are obama nominees. you can't tell everything about a judge based on what president appointed them, but it is a piece of information. the first argument today, does the committee have a legitimate purpose? trump says they're just fishing. congress says they're considering various legislation. by the way, we're congress. we know what we're considering. second question, can a former president invoke executive privilege? there is or was some notion out there that, perhaps, they could. the district court rejected that. the problem is, how can a former president override what the current president wants to do? joe biden has said, "i'm not invoking executive privilege here." the third issue is even if, somehow, donald trump as former president could evoke executive privilege, would it apply here? this is meant to protect policy discussions and not disclosure of wrongdoing. >> can we go back to your food pyramid here? >> of course. >> the vegetables. >> usda approved. >> the top of the food pyramid. what are the chances this gets to the supreme court? >> whoever loses this argument, we should know in a couple weeks, will try to get it to the top of the pyramid, the u.s. supreme court. the supreme court doesn't have to take every case. they only take a traction, like low, single digits here. will the supreme court take it? you need four of the nine justices to say, "we'll take that case," in order to take the case. will they do it? on the one hand, the supreme court does not like to get involved in sticky, political messes. this certainly is that. on the other hand, this is a classic constitutional slowdown. legislative branch versus executive branch. it's sort of what the supreme court is there for. if they don't take the case, whatever the appeals court rules, it's final. >> we have new charges from yesterday regarding the january 6th insurrection. >> >> good evening or good afternoon. south africa time, it is afternoon. so, yeah, it is a very good question. the public needs to understand what we currently are seeing. it is very early days, and it is now, more or less, i call it a -- we have made a diagnosis of the new variant going around. if you look at the beginning of any pandemic wave, it is normally not that severe. it is normally the younger people that get infected. from there on, it'll spread and go further. so, hopefully, we can keep the clinical picture as it is. if we say patients are not -- they're moderately ill, not severely ill. i'm also a part of a group of eight doctors, some of my colleagues, only two patients were admitted in the last 24 hours, and i'm not sure of their symptoms. what we are presenting to primary health care practitioners is mild cases, mild to moderate. so these patients, they don't need to be hospitalized for now. and we try to get the message out there to the world to say, listen, we're not saying this is not going to be a disease going forward that's going to cause severe disease. it will cause severe disease. but if we can get this -- if this disease can pose to the majority of people mild symptoms, easily treated at home, no need for admission, that's the first prize. but for us to tell this to the world, we need to tell you what the symptoms are so that the people can understand. if i feel fatigued for a day or two, not the fatigue you're used to. this is a different fatigue. a bit of a scratchy throat, body ache and pain, and a headache. we call it malaise, so i don't feel generally well. go see your doctor. we need to tell the doctors, you're not going to see a very sick patient sitting in front of you. test the patient. if you can test and trace, and we can get the patients to understand that it is mild symptoms for now, but go and see a health care facility. go and get yourself checked out. if you can get that message out to the world, it means that we would most probably, going forward, have less severe cases, less people going to the doctor's. no system can afford that. not south africa. not the united states. no one can afford that. >> let me just reiterate, if i can, doctor, and jump in here, just to reiterate one point so people hear it clearly. this can change, and i understand it's the early stages, but right now, patients with this new variant, you're dealing with mild to moderate symptoms? you are seeing no or very little severe disease, correct? >> yes. >> have you treated patients who have been vaccinated and now are coming in -- >> yes, i have. >> -- with the new variant? >> yes. >> what are you seeing there? >> same picture. interesting enough, with the moderate -- what we call mild, you know, symptoms, the patients that have been vaccinated so far have no complication. they are -- i don't know it is as if it is -- i don't want to use the word self-limiting, but minimum conservative measurements that they needed, and they feel fine. it seems to me it is about the first two days before they come and see the doctor. it is another three or four days, and they're out of it. so the nice thing is if you pick it up, if you make the diagnosis and you take the patient out and get them to self-isolate, get the rest of the family to quarantine, you will also spread less. yes, i have seen vaccinated people and not really very sick. that might change going forward. as we say, this is early days. and this is maybe what makes us hopeful. >> i do understand these are early stages, but i also think it is important that people know what you are seeing. you are seeing people who have been infected or vaccinated, and they're just not very sick, which is exactly what you hope for with the vaccine in general. >> yes. >> we don't know over the next few weeks as the tests come back if maybe, maybe the omicron will find ways to evade the vaccine. as of now, it does seem to be offering some protection. that does seem to be key. based on what you're telling me, with mild to moderate cases, with the vaccinated people who have it with very mild cases, what is your assessment of how the world has reacted to the news coming out of south africa about the omicron variant? >> i think it was an overreaction. i do understand that there's a lot of mutation in this virus. i do understand that it might be much more fast spreading than the delta vary i iant. but if you look -- you know, i think what one needs to do, there's two types of -- and people who are in the medical field will understand better what i'm trying to say. so you get two types. you get the scientists, and we need the scientists. it is important that we get the input from the scientists. but while the scientists wait and are busy doing their work in the background, unfortunately, the patients ds doesn't wait. the patients come in. you need to alert your doctors, there is something going on. look at it. see what you can do. so, you know, then telling the world there is something out there and then being slammed by getting these, we call it the knee-jerk reaction of closing borders, and everyone saying, yes, but i'm trying to protect my people. so the question would be, how do you know it is not in your country yet? how do you know that a lot of those infections that you are currently seeing that is severe, how do you know it is not maybe related to the omicron? how do you know? and how do the doctors know if they're not aware that the patient sitting in front of them with a bit of a scratchy throat and says, "oh, don't feel quite well, doctor," a bit of a flu is what they'd normally call it. it's not too pbad, and the doctr would prescribe painkillers. they wouldn't test because they're not thinking it might be omicron. for south africa to spread the message out there, and then being slammed doesn't make sense. of course, it is other people's lives as well. you know, it is a huge impact. it is a huge impact on the economy of south africa. it is a huge impact to the people that want to come and visit family. it is a huge impact from south africans that want to visit family and friends during the festive season. i just think, you know, there's other ways to do this. >> again, i want to reiterate, as you have many times, it is early and we still have much to learn. but the epidemiology, when we're talking about the history of pandemics or viruses, there has been a tendency for mutations toward the more mild. there have been viruses, and there's scientific reasons for it, why when they do mutate, they mutate to becoming more mild. you say it is possible that if that's what is going to happen with omicron, that it may contribute to herd immunity. how would that work? >> well, i would be happy if that would be the case, but only time will tell us. hopefully that would, you know -- with this fast spreading of the virus, with people being vaccinated, hopefully this would be something that we can just pray for going forward. it's not to say it is not going to happen, but, again, you know, the 30 plus mutations are worrisome to our scientists. actually, they don't really want us to say that this is mild at this stage. but it is what we see. we cannot go out there and advise doctors and people and say, "listen, wait for the symptoms to come." you need to know what the symptoms is while we wait to see how this virus is going to behave. >> fatigue, scratchy throat, look for them. over the next two weeks, what is the biggest question you want answered? >> i would like to see over the next two weeks, the biggest question would be is it going to give us more severe disease? what is it going to do to the elderly that's unvaccinated? or people with co-morbidities? it'll be interesting to see what it is going to do. the second thing that is important, we need the doctor to see how many vaccinated people got severe infections and breakthrough infections. then the third and last one would be how many people previously had covid-19 and get re-infected? again, is it mild or severe, to be admitted? from a clinical perspective, that is important. does it really matter for me when the patient sitting in front of me has 30 mutations or not? i still need to treat him whether it is 2 mutations, 30 mutations. i need to make sure i do what is in the best interest of this patient. so from a clinician's point of view, we need to understand, what do we give, how do we pick it out, and what is the outcomes? >> such crucial questions. i know you along with the rest of the world, the skcientific community, and regular people and potential patients like the rest of us, want to get these answers. we're going to have to be patient. in the meantime, doctor, i appreciate you telling us what you are seeing now so people understand where we are. and also understand what they should be concerned about. thank you. >> thank you so much. let's see in two weeks' time how this conversation will go. >> yeah. well, let's hope. with the omicron variant raising these new questions, and you heard some terrific questions there from the doctor, anderson cooper and dr. gupta come together with anthony fauci for a cnn global town hall. coronavirus facts and fears tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. eastern. obviously, this is a political challenge for president biden. also an administrative challenge. how do you address this situation and the uncertainty as president? joining me now is cnn senior data reporter. harry, the difference between where biden is on coronavirus now and january is pretty big. >> it's very big. the coronavirus, his handling of it, is one of the reasons he won in 2020. when he entered back in january, his approval on the coronavirus was 64%. now, just 49%. the split between approval and disapproval, basically the same. there was this huge, well over 30-point gap in january. i think there might be issues for biden having to rally the american people. many more issues for him now versus when he start ed his presidency. >> approval of how government in general is handling the pandemic isn't great either, right? >> it's not. trust for accurate covid-19 info. biden, this is a slightly different question, it's down from 58% in january, now 47%. even in the state department, from 55% to 50%. there's just this more distrust of government in general, and biden is showing that even more. >> in terms of the people who probably need to trust him or society would benefit from them trusting him, there is a real issue. >> there is a huge issue. trust biden for accurate covid-19 info, among the vaccinated, 51%. among the unvaccinated, just 18%. of course, these are the folks that biden and the federal government and state governments at large are trying to reach, the unvaccinated, to get them to take a vaccine. this is a big reason why they're not taking it. it is just 18% actually trust them for accurate info on the coronavirus. >> these are the people getting the severe illness. these are the people fueling the outbreaks. they don't trust the president anyway. hard for him to reach them. big push for boosters right now. may not be easy. >> no. i don't think it is going to be as easy, you know, as it was to get people to actually take the first few shots. look back in january. 66% said that they would, in fact, either have gotten or will likely get a covid-19 vaccine. now, you look in the october poll from the kaiser family foundation, and just 50% of americans said they'd likely or had gotten the booster. there's a lot fewer people who are convinced that they need the booster. i think this is what the campaign is to convince people to do so. simply put, there's fewer people willing to go along with it. >> that's all before omicron though. >> correct. >> maybe that number would go up. however, in terms of people's overall attitude about what they want in life out of this pandemic, that's changed a lot too. >> that has changed a lot. if you're telling people, look, this is a new thing, you have to switch up your life, perhaps go back into your homes, there are a lot fewer people willing to do that. this is before omicron. look, back in january, healthy people without symptoms, should they lead normal lives? it was 33%. stay at home to stop the spread. look, clear majority at 67%. now in october, those numbers have completely flipped. lead their normal lives, 59%. stay home as much as possible, just 41%. people are a lot less willing to give up what they like doing. >> what about masks? >> this is just another way in which people have changed. back in january, always or sometimes wearing a mask in public, it was basically everybody. 92%. some of that, obviously, was sometimes and not always, always. now, down to 67%. the people always wearing a mask was a majority in january. it is now a clear minority of this always land sometimes. >> clear challenges? >> the way people are leading their lives, january versus now. >> thank you, sir. a new book is pulling back the curtain on how much former president trump enriched himself and his family while he was in office. $1.7 billion in revenue flowed through him and his organizations during his four years as commander in chief. joining us now, investigative reporter david k. johnston and author of "the big cheat," how donald trump fleeced america and enriched himself and his family. david, thank you for being with us. a fascinating look here as you weave together all of these different data points to paint, i think, the most complete picture we've seen of this. tell us how much donald trump profited, and how you were able to get to this number. >> well, donald trump had to disclose his finances as president. all top federal officials do. now, several of them filed very incomplete and misleading forms. donald, in fact, asked through lawyers if he could final financial disclosures without signing under penalty of perjury. he was told, no, you have to sign under penalty of perjury. of this more than $1.6 billion that flowed across the books of the trump organization and to donald, after expenses for those businesses, this is before -- i'm sorry, before expenses of the businesses, a lot of it came from the taxpayers. donald did everything he could to make sure the taxpayers were putting money into his businesses. hundreds of millions of dollars. >> yeah, it is fascinating. the secret service, as you mentioned, was charged a regular rate during the pandemic at hotels that were largely unoccupied. you know, you also talk about it, just before the 2020 election and on his way out the door with stop the steal fundraising, he rakes in $500 million. he spends less than $9 million on lawyers. the rest of the money he can use how? >> oh, he can spend it on himself. i expect that once he is indicted in manhattan and perhaps other jurisdictions, a lot of that money will go to criminal defense lawyers. >> really fascinating. one of the examples that you highlight in his stop the steal profiteering that really stands out, i know that's why you focused on it, has to do with stacy blatt of kansas city. this is someone who, as you mentioned, was ripped off by trump's uncheck the box swindle. you said in hospice care, blatt heard rush limbaugh tell the radio audience the trump 2020 d campaign needed money urgent ly. blatt gave $500, half his monthly income. trump's campaign tapp ped blatt bank account six more times, taking the dying man's last dollars. put into perspective how unusual the fundraising practice is and if there will be ramifications for it. >> well, essentially, they were stripping people of their assets as fast as they could because they were running out of money in the campaign. it ought to be treated as a criminal matter. i don't expect it to. just as i show in the book how trump put our national security at risk with the efforts of his son-in-law to refinance 666 5th avenue in new york. we became in the bizarre position of the president of the united states attacking qatar, where we have our most important military base in the middle east, and aiding the saudis who did end up ultimately helping the kushner family. the profiteering that went on here, particularly by jared kushner and ivanka trump, is just extraordinary. in any previous administration, would have been dominant front page news day after day after day. yet, a lot of this was sort of lost in the background, brianna. >> yeah. you make it clear, look, this was not, obviously, to the benefit of the united states and its position in the world. it was to the benefit of the trump family for sure. david cay johnston, fascinating read. thank you so much for being with us. >> thank you. the demonization of anthony fauci escalating. this time it is a fox host comparing him to the nazi angel of death doctor. we have a reality check ahead. plus, one of history's greatest golfers says he will never play full time again. tiger woods breaks his silence after that horrible car accident. protecte new sensodyne repaird with deep repair has the science to show that the toothpaste goes deep inside the exposed dentin to help repair sensitive teeth. my patients are able to have that quality of life back. i recommend sensodyne repair and protect with deep repair. o man, that's a whole lot of wrinkly at least my shoes look good! looking good start with bounce wrinkleguard, the megasheet designed to prevent wrinkles in the dryer. the living room slash yoga shanti slash regional office slash... and this is the basement slash panic room. maybe what your family needs is a vacation home slash vacation home. find yours on the vrbo app. because you're forever connected by love... two touching center diamonds, representing the connection you share. forever connected. the perfect gift to give this holiday. exclusively at kay. new projects means new project managers. you need to hire. i need indeed. indeed you do. when you sponsor a job, you immediately get your shortlist of quality candidates, whose resumes on indeed match your job criteria. visit indeed.com/hire and get started today. tiger woods speaks out for the first time since his car accident about his health and his future in golf. pretty stark terms. andy scholes has this morning's "bleacher report." >> in his first interview since the devastating leg injury suffered in february, tiger woods, he told "golf digest" he hopes to play on the pga tour again, but he accepts that being on top again isn't realistic. >> i can't participate in the game of golf, but if my leg gets good enough, i can maybe click off a tournament here or there. but as far as climbing the mountain to get all the way to the top, i don't think that's a realistic expectation of me. but i think something that is realistic is playing the tour one day. never full time ever again. pick and choose, just like what mr. hogan did. you pick and choose a few events a year, and you play around that, practice around it, and try to gear yourself up for that. you play. i think that's going to be how i'll have to play from now on. >> last week, the 15-time major champion posted a video of himself on social media, taking practice swings with the comment, "making progress." tiger is slated to speak with the media later this morning after his invitational tournament in the bahamas. college football, the coach coaching carousel continues to turn. the lsu tigers hiring brian kelly away from notre dame to be their new head coach. he's been with the fighting irish since 2010. notre dame, 11-1. they're still one of the teams with a shot to reach the college football playoff.
