My expectation is theyll be able to negotiate something. Now to the fda advisory committee recommending Covid Booster doses of the Pfizer Vaccine for people 65 and older and those at high risk, but rejecting boosters for everyone else. Dr. Jonathan reiner, good to see you. The fda voted to recommend covid vaccines for 65 and older, those at high risk. What about the boosters for most americans . What happened . We didnt have the data. One of the things that really struck me about today and many of us were predicting that the Fda Committee would do exactly what they did today, which was approve it for older americans and maybe Health Care workers. I think its worded in a way that will include Health Care workers. What struck me today was really how bad the messaging has been coming from the administration recently and how badly this administration misses andy slavitt. The president of the united states over the summer came out with a lot of fanfare and told the united states that essentially all americans over the age of 16 would start getting boosted come this monday. Whatever group advised the president to make this big announcement really got way out ahead of their skis and the person that took the Big Hit was the president of the united states. I expect there are going to be repercussions of that. I think the Fda Panel got the science right today. The data from israel really does show that the group at highest risk are older americans, although i think most people think they should have come out in favor of extra doses for people over the age of 60. My guess is that as we start to see younger people get past five, six, seven, eight months after their second dose, well start to see more evidence for boosters in that group. Most of the people in this country were vaccinated in the late spring, so there isnt a lot of reason to vaccinating them now. In long haul covid, the mental decline, do you agree with that . I think we need more data. Another shortcoming of the last year is despite a massive amount of infection in the united states right now amveraging 150 thousa 150,000 cases a day we dont have the data, vaccine specific data. We dont have necessarily a lot of the specific age data. For that reason, the Fda Panel today relied on a group of israeli experts because they do have the data. Im hoping over the next few months the cdc will get their act together and accrue a solid Data Set that can inform the Fda Committee on exactly where we need to start boosting. Im wondering if the administration got ahead of the fda process, because theyre saying that their decision to roll out their Booster Plan was for transparency and planning. Did they get ahead of it . Yeah, they definitely got ahead of it. I think they got it right about the elderly. When you look at whos getting sick, 7 0 of the Breakthrough Infections being hospitalized are patients over the age of 60 or 75. 80 of the deaths are occurring in that group. Older americans appear to be the ones suffering when they get a breakthrough infection. Were seeing plenty of Breakthrough Infections in younger people where theyre pretty much able to be ride it out at home like a bad cold or flu. This is a dynamic process. So its very possible and the pharmaceutical companies, pfizer in particular, basically are expecting to start to see evidence for more severe infections in younger people as Vaccine Efficacy continues to wane. I was shocked, because we in new York City have a very strong mandate that if you are entering indoors, you have to show your Vaccination Proof and id. And if you dont have that, its understandable. Guess what . At carmines right there, theres a beautiful outdoor venue which people take advantage of. That could have been the answer. I dont know, because its a very swift moving video. I assume its not the entire incident, but it looked pretty awful to me. It became nationally known and of course in the city of new york, where were trying to keep patrons safe, healthy and also all of the staff at the restaurants, it sent a message of fear, because these hostesses and maitre ds and front Line Restaurants have to do this. Its the law that you ask for proof of vaccination or id. I dont know what its like elsewhere in the country but thats the law. In new York City were doing the right thing. Number two, the individuals return to court on october 5th. Right now theres a Desk Appearance Ticket theyve been issued and theyll be back then. I do think we have to have consequences after we find out the facts. Obviously thats the purpose of the hearing on october 5th. If what we saw on the video is what happened again, facts matter there should be consequences. Not a slap on the wrist, we hope. We hope. Tonight police in North Port, florida, speaking to his parents. Police saying Brian Laundrie was not present. His family says they havent seen him since tuesday. Reporter as The Search For Gabby Be Petito continues in wyoming and her family pleads with her fiance Brian Laundrie to tell them where he last saw her, Laundries Sister telling us. We want gabby to be found safe. Shes like a sister and my children love her. All i want is her to come home safe and sound. Reporter Gabbys Father wants more from her. She is a mother and shes got kids. So im hoping that the pleas and the begging and the community and the entire Damn Planet knock some sense into her. Reporter Petito And Laundrie had been traveling Cross Country for months in her white 2012 ford transit van. Its 10 00 in the morning. It rained all afternoon yesterday. Reporter they documented their journey on Social Media including youtube. Its a river of chocolate. You cant keep chocolate in utah. Not in july. Reporter Petitos Family last heard from her in late august. They believe she was last in the Grand Teton area. She spoke with her mother August 24th saying she was leaving utah and heading to the tetons. She was last seen checking out of a hotel in salt lake city, utah, August 24th. She and her mom exchanged multiple texts on August 25th and 27th. The last text from gabby was august 30th, but her family doubts she wrote it. It read, no service in yosemite. The Family Hasnt said who they believe sent it. Local police found her van and her fiance at the home they shared with his family in North Port, florida. He returned there alone September 1st without reporting her missing. Laundrie, officials say, is not cooperating with police. We have never spoken a word with brian. Reporter weeks earlier on august 12th, police in moab, utah, were called to a possible disorderly conduct situation. Weve just been fighting this morning, some personal issues. He wouldnt let me in the car before. Reporter petito described in the Police Report as confused and emotional and manic. One of the officers concluding the situation was the result of a Mental Health crisis. No charges were filed. North Port Police say they dont know what, if anything, the incident had to do with petitos disappearance. A lawyer for the Laundrie Family saying they would not be commenting. Police in North Port, florida, speaking tonight to the parents of her fiance, Brian Laundrie, at their home. His family says that they havent seen him since tuesday. And now, there are new details just coming out right now. So, i want to bring in now the Publicinformation Officer for the North Port police in florida and that is josh taylor. Josh, thank you so much for joining. We appreciate it. So, you have new information tonight. What can you tell us . Right. So, you know, all week, weve been asking Brians Family for information, for brian for information. And now, this evening, we were called by his family who now informs us and and says that they have not seen brian since tuesday, and dont know where he is and are filing their own Missingperson Report. Okay. So, that was that the reason they wanted to speak to you . Because before when we spoke to your chief last night, he said that, you know, the Family Hadnt spoken. The attorney um you know, that they were communicating through an Attorney But Nothing from the family. So was that the reason that they were available tonight is because they wanted to report him missing . Thats correct. This is our first indepth conversation with the with the family at all. Okay. Um, can you tell us anything about the circumstances of the last time the family saw him . They just said that that he left. He had a backpack on. Um, they expected him that he was going on a local hike. And that he would be returning. Of course, that was tuesday. Its now friday. They had not heard from him. You know, you can make something of it, don, would be great because it is certainly another twist in this story. Do you feel they should have come forward sooner, considering whats happened now . Considering that weve been pleading and begging for information about gabby, our focus has been on finding gabby. Uhhuh. And bringing her home. And trying to get information from him, certainly. Because we believe he has some key information on where she may be. But again, our focus has been on finding her. You know, the fact that were now getting told, four days later, that hes been gone certainly isnt helpful. Yeah. So, listen. Before that, i just if you are just tuning in, there is new information about Brian Laundrie. Brian laundrie, still a Person Of Interest, right now, not a suspect, am i right, mr. Taylor . Yeah, thats correct. You know, we have seen some comments about why didnt you know exactly where he was . Were not working a criminal investigation. We are working a Missingperson Investigation and we are working alongside, you know, the fbi and multiple jurisdictions. He was freed to go and do what he wanted out there in the community. You know, certainly, finding out three, four days later that that hes been gone is is interesting, unfortunately. Reporte there is a number on the screen that says 1800call fbi. Thats because you are working with the fbi now. And so, you are looking for him. He is a missing person annow, correct . There is a Missingperson Report filed for him. So he is described white male, 58, 160 pounds, short brown hair. Last seen wearing a Hiking Bag with a Wrist Strap or you said a backpack. Um, listen. And in the the information that you put out, you said we understand the communitys frustration. We are frustrated, too. For six days, the North Port Police Department and the fbi have been pleading with the family to contact investigators regarding brian brians fiancee, Gabby Petito. Fridays the first time that they have spoken with investigators in detail. It is so important to note that while brian is a Person Of Interest in gabbys disappearance, he is not wanted for a crime. We are not currently working a crime investigation. We are now working a multiple Missingperson Investigation. I mean, look. You are the Law Enforcement expert, josh taylor. This is odd. Weve said its odd from the beginning. We know brian was back here for ten days and did not report anything. It wasnt until his family who grew concerned and reported it to Law Enforcement. And then, you know, we then learned the fact that he had been here in this community for ten days. I really do have to run but i have to ask you did they take anything from the house, any evidence .
