He says one of his concerns has been the physical threats to him and his family. He calls the former president a cancer for the country and now hes bowing out. This shows in many ways how at every turn since January 6th those who have stood up to trump in the republican party have been marginalized, left behind, pushed down. This isnt just about gonzalez. As Maggie Haberman noted this is how trump wins. No sitting member of congress is expected to attend Tomorrows Rally on Capitol Hill, but that hardly means that many of them dont support the cause. Despite more than 600 people currently facing federal charges related to January 6th, here is texas republican congressman louie gohmert. The overwhelming number of people caught up in this, quote, unprecedented investigation, theyre actually nonviolent, peaceful americans. Their only crime was supporting Donald Trump. North Carolina Congressman madison pushing the Rioters Defense Narrative further, labeling them political hostages. We have people held in Solitary Confinement who are having their rights stripped away from them. Not capable to have someone come represent them, political hostages. Echoing him, Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie taylor greene, who for months has taken up the cause of making baseless allegations regarding the treatment of Capitol Riot detainees saying in an email to The New York Times theres a Twotrack Justice System in america and the treatment of the j6 prisoners proves it. Just how pervasive is this sentiment among republicans on Capitol Hill . Politico this week quoted one sitting Gop Lawmaker who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Quote, the majority of the republican base feels that January 6th was justified. And because those people didnt have arms, they shouldnt be incarcerated right now. So what most of the aforementioned lawmakers have in common, voting to overturn the results of the 2020 election in support of one man, donald j. Trump. The former president rounding out the show of solidarity of support not missing an opportunity to promote the Big Lie saying this in a statement, quote, our hearts and minds are with the people being persecuted so unfairly to the rigged president ial election. So more on this, lets bring in Cnn Anchor and chief national Affairs Analyst Kasie hunt. I want to tie this together. The threat of violence and the fact that Congressman Anthony Gonzalez of ohio, one of ten republicans to vote for impeachment announced he will not run for reelection. Donald trump with the statement overnight in support of the insurrectionists. In many ways the leader of the republican party and republican leadership, Kevin Mccarthy, raising the insurrectionists up and pushing the people who stood against them like Anthony Gonzalez down. This is i think an important thing to acknowledge. For sure, john. I think lets underscore the president , the former president , used the word persecuted in the statement. Thats not whats going on here. Theyre being prosecuted because they have been charged with federal crimes. And theres Video Evidence to prove it. If were sticking with the facts of what happened on that day, there were people who used perhaps they didnt bring their own arms to the capitol, but they used what they found there to beat Capitol Police officers, so many of whom were injured, several of whom died as a result of what happened on that day. Lets not forget that. It continues to be remarkable to me that the former president centers the people who did that to Police Officers instead of those Law Enforcement officials protecting democrats and republicans whose lives were at risk inside that building on that day. But, this is The Big Picture of whats going on inside the republican party and has been over the course of the last four years. What you have seen is that frankly as i have spoken to many republicans, you know, the theme was always how behind thehorrif the former president was doing in Office But None were going to say in public because they were going to face these kinds of threats and problems that Anthony Gonzalez the congressman who is now stepping down is pointing to as he says, look, i just simply cant do this anymore. So instead what happened was instead of this sort of Ground Swell from all of the elected republicans who had concerns but werent willing to say it, you had one person at a time step out, basically stick their neck out, say i cant put up with this anymore and one by one have them either decide to retire because they didnt want to run a race that was going to be counter to their own values. Look at jeff flake. You could argue Bob Corker also made a similar decision there. Liz cheney is actually really the only one right now who is saying you know what, forget it. Bring it on. Im going to fight this fight. You know, there are some critics of republicans who were willing to vote for impeachment or willing to say something and then say, you know what, im not going to say anything else because im concerned about my family. Hey, this is why you got into this. You have to be willing to take this criticism. We have to look inside ourselves as americans and say, what kind of country is it where if you speak out politically and oppose someone that your family has to then be met by Law Enforcement officers to physically protect them from harm. I mean, thats the opposite of what the first amendment and the way our constitution was supposed to work. You know, clearly the former president is stirring the pot here. So lets talk about what the conditions in the pot are. You have Dhs Warning of Violence Today and tomorrow. Not just tomorrow also today. Capitol Hill Police officers, several of them, have sued insurrectionists. Capitol police are worried that protesters are going to show up armed. And the fences have gone up. They have briefed leadership in congress. There are huge concerns here and yet the president is still saying what hes saying, knowing what happened on January 6th. Doesnt seem like he cares if He Incites violence. It doesnt. Remember, on January 6th itself, there were so many people trying to get him to call them off. At the time. Yes. And he didnt do anything for hours. Eventually there was a tweet, there was a video, but it wasnt enough in the view of a lot of people on that very day. And lets not forget, he was the one who sent those people there. Thats why this statement that he put out i think is significant because he is essentially sending another signal. And, the other piece of this that i think is important, brianna, is that i would draw a distinction between two groups that were there at the insurrection because there were quite a few people who followed what Donald Trump said who had come to the mall to rally, to support the former president when he was making that speech. And a lot of them got swept up in something that was clearly more aggressively planned among some of these groups like the proud boys and the oath keepers, right . The ones who showed up with guns in their Cars W zip ties, dressed in tactical gear. And the forces combined together. Im not trying to let the trump supporters who entered the capitol off the hook, im just saying that those dangerous elements are the ones that really listen to every single signal that the former president sends. Right . Theyre the ones that hear the message that he is telling them to stand ready, for example, with something that happened earlier. Stand by. Its those groups that hear that and its those groups we still dont know, for example, who set the Pipe Bombs at the Rnc And Dnc on January 6th. If its those groups the most motivated, the ones that listen most closely to Donald Trump and the ones most inclined to violence, i think that shows you why Today And Tomorrow could be potentially difficult. You dont have that big Rally Crowd that the president was Ginning Up that did include a wider variety of trump supporters than his most extreme ones but at the same time, its those people again who are potentially likely to be activated. The only other thing i would say, too, it is also possible that this turns out and Knock On Wood its how it goes, not very much and this is Law Enforcement saying, okay, were not going to make the same mistakes again. They know they absolutely cant do that, but of course the risk is there. So here we are. I will tell you even without showing up the threat of it has had an impact. Look at Anthony Gonzalez who is not running for reelection not just the threat of physical violence but also the political threats in peril here. Look at this, if you look at it, the goals of the insurrectionists, at least some of the goals from January 6th, they prevailed. 78 of republicans think that Joe Biden didnt win the election. 78 of republicans think that Joe Biden didnt win. You have that on one side. On the other side you have republican from New York who tried to set up this bipartisan commission that goes down. Right . You have Liz Cheney lose her leadership post. So shes pushed out. You have people like Fred Upton who has a primary opponent endorsed by the former president. Now you have Anthony Gonzalez leaving. Maggie haberman wrote overnight, this is how trump wins. I want to know what you think about it, kasie. I think it makes a lot of sense. I think my question has always been throughout all of this and i think you can look at what happened in the 2020 president ial race as some evidence of this, is what happens to those people who are now pushed out of the party. If you read that interview that Anthony Gonzalez did with Jonathan Martin who you guys, of course, started the show off with. Its clear he still wants to be involved in politics. He may not be comfortable as a Joe Biden democrat, but i think theres a wider swath of people as this violence continues that need somewhere to go. They need a home. If you look at how the 2020 election played out where you had Joe Biden winning the presidency, yes, narrowly but all of our elections are pretty narrow at this point, but he did win the Popular Vote in a convincing way, and then you compare that to what happened in the house and the senate, where democrats frankly were disappointed by the showing that they had there, they lost seats in the house, they didnt do as well in the senate as they thought, that tells you that there is some room in there for people who are used to Voting Republican who just simply could not handle where Donald Trump was. I think the question is what happens to that group . Can they figure out how to stick together . Can they figure out how to build something beyond third parties are so frankly Pipe Dreams In American Politics typically that doesnt seem like a realistic thing. But on the other hand, again, these people while, yes, they are one at a time being pushed out, the ones who have the courage to speak up to try to do these things are pushed out of now what is the republican party. I think they need some place to go. What effect does that have . Leaves simply the most extreme people in the party is the idea that maggie is getting at, this is how trump wins. Hes pushing everyone who doesnt support him out and people are afraid to take him on. And he did this in the primary in 2016. You saw him sort of take out one candidate after the other on the Debate Stage until he was the only person left standing. And its hard to see how if he does decide to get in there is not a repeat of that. I think of course the question then is going to be is he simply going to lose again . Is the same set of trends going to play out or not. I think theres not a ton of lessons to draw from the California Recall results. I think from a national perspective, but one of them is you can successfully as a national democrat if youre a candidate with some Strength Paint Somebody like trump its not necessarily going to go well for you. And the margins in california i think tell us that in some of the numbers coming out of places like Orange County where there are republicans. So, i think theres a lot to continue to pay attention to here. A lot of questions that we dont know. Remember, sometimes we all cover the last war instead of trying to look ahead. It is hard to figure out sometimes where these trends are going to go. But, i think there are a lot of questions about how this small but growing group of people who have been thrown out of the current republican party where they go and what happens next. Big meeting here in washington later Today Fda Vaccine advisers are going to be Meeting And Theyll be discussing whether Booster Shots are needed for fully vaccinated americans. Its a simple question, but its one that has sometimes seemed to put the Fdas Independence at odds with a white House Team that is eager to appear to be out ahead of an unpredictable pandemic. Joining us now is dr. Jessie goodman, the former Fda Chief Scientist and he is the director of the center on medical product access, Safety And Stewardship at georgetown university. Dr. Goodman, thank you so much for joining us on this key day as i think there is a lot of confusions about boosters. Just first off, do you think theyre needed . Well, i have an open mind about this. And im looking forward to discussion. What i would say is that its not surprising that were talking about boosters because virtually every vaccine we have needs and uses a shot several months after the initial shot or shots to sort of cement and strengthen immunity. So the question is less will we need a booster than do we need it now, whats the evidence which is conflicting and does everyone need it. So i think theres going to be a lot of discussion around those issues. And i just hope because people have put some pretty strong positions out there that everybody listens to the evidence because we see new studies emerging everyday and makes the best possible decision. I would say its a decision we have to keep tracking whatever the decision is because we learn new things about this virus everyday. Does the science tell us that Booster Shots would make Breakthrough Cases rarer . Well, the science suggests that in that these very shortterm studies do show that it gives a good response in terms of Making Antibodies both against the original virus but also ones that can help neutralize delta. So, i think that we dont have direct data on protection of boosters. There is some suggestive data from israel, but it makes sense that they would help. As i said, we do this for other vaccines. The question is right now again, you know, how much data are there to support that . The vaccines and americans must realize this are still very, very protective right now against hospitalization and severe disease. So no one should interpret this as thinking, oh, i shouldnt get vaccinated, doesnt work. You really need to get vaccinated. It really helps protect you against severe disease. What we want to do is make sure things stay that way. Dr. Fauci endorsed boosters before these meetings that were going to see with the fda and next week with the cdc. Was that a wise move . Well, i think everyone has their feeling and is entitled to express it. He has tremendous expertise. Theres a Public Discussion going on and hes participating in that. What i do think was backwards and not helpful was that the White House made an announcement with a certain date before really all the data had come in, before fda had had a chance to review it and before there was this Public Discussion that were now going to have. So, i think thats where we are. But now we need to have the best Public Discussion. And i think any number of decisions could be reasonable here. And its just going to be really important to explain the evidence and the decisions to the american people. Yeah. Look, there are a lot of views going into this discussion on boosters. So hopefully well start to see what the consensus is. Dr. Goodman, thanks for being with us. My pleasure. Have a nice day. Up next, president bidens plan to tax rich people and big companies. President biden says the nation is at an Inflection Point when it comes to the economy. Listen. Choice is this are we going to continue with an economy where the overwhelming share of the benefits go to big corporations and the very wealthy, or are we going to take this moment right now to set this country on a new path . One that invests in this nation, creates real sustained economic growth, and that benefits everyone, including working people and Middle Class folks. Joining me now is director of the White House economic council. Thank you so much for being with us, brian. To get what the president wants, and presumably what you want, you need 50 votes in the senate. 50 democratic votes. The president met with Joe Manchin Yesterday and the reporting from axios is that as of now he doesnt have Joe Manchins vote for the 3. 5 Trillion economic plan that includes the Tax Equity you say youre looking for. How far apart are they . Well, you never nothing is ever done until its done. Here is what i would say. We have an approach that i think unifies our party and also unifies the american people which is to invest in the country, to make long overdue changes that will help working people, will help grow the economy, will help lower costs for Middle Class families and to do so by also restoring some fairness to the tax code. All things that weve got broad agreement on. Now, were in the process, the legislative process, of Working Out and hammering out those details. There will be differences. Weve been in this process for some time. Thats where we are. Were confident we can move this forward and confident we can get this done. You said its unifying the democratic party. Do you have news . Is manchin on board and we havent heard . Look, this is a process and its a process that involves bringing everybody together, listening to peoples concerns, finding areas of compromise. Thats what weve been doing since april when the president laid out this vision for the country and for the congress. Weve been working on this for several months. And of course, people have different opinions. People have differences of views. Thats the process. And the president has been engaged in this from the getgo. Having these conversations. Were going to keep those conversations private. But the truth of the matter is theres a lot more that unifies us than divides us. Thats in The End of the day were going to use to try to bring people together and get this done. Can i throw out a Business School Term on you, batna here, if you cant get manchin on board exactly, whats the fallback . Well, look, were focussed on success. We think we can do this here. We worked on an Infrastructure Bill over the course of the summer. If i had a nickel for every time people told me we werent going to get that done, i would be a lot richer today. Were working on this project now. We think we can get that done. And for all the focus on the areas where we still have outstanding disagreement, let me also point to all of the progress we made over the course of the last week. We have a Revenue Title out of the ways and means committee. We have both of the Tax Writie ing committees working on bringing Tax Reforms much needed to this country. We are making progress. We have to stay at it. If you had all those nickels and got richer, you might get your taxes raised if the White House gets its way. Who is getting a Tax Hike . Well, its pretty simple. You start with who is not getting a Tax Hike. The president made a commitment to not increase taxes on anyone make over 400,000 a year. Hell keep that commitment and certainly the legislation moving through congress will do that. Where youll see taxes go up is for the largest companies that benefit from a system where they can move profits and production overseas, not for any productive use but to avoid paying taxes as well as the wealthiest americans, those making several million dollars and in particular those who have embedded wealth and who are not paying even the taxes that they owe. You heard the President Talk about yesterday, think about it, 160 Billion a year that is avoided and evaded by the Top 1 . Thats not a tax increase. Thats actually making sure that those people are actually paying the taxes that they owe. Were going to focus on that in this legislation. So in addition to having to deal with manchin, and the democrats on this, you have to deal with the republican opposition as well. Some former trump White House staffers have put together some kind of an advertising plan. Theyre going to spend 10 Million in campaign against what youre after. And then you have House Minority Leader Kevin Mccarthy saying things like this we have paid for everything the Trump Administration spent plus seven months into this administration in august. Now this new congress wants to spend more than 5. 5 Trillion, 5. 5 Trillion which will only make inflation grow faster, but in that money they want to spend they dont want to pay for the debt ceiling. Did i miss something . Was all that spending during the Trump Administration paid for . It makes you laugh. Look, we expected debate but lets try to debate on the facts. During the last administration, the Signature Economic Initiative was a completely unpaid for Tax Cut, most of which went to the most well off. That Tax Cut cost at least 2 Trillion to the economy. And has not was not demonstrated to have any real Manifest Benefit to the economy. Over that fouryear period, the unpaid four initiatives added up to actually 8 trillion. And during that period there was really no not even an effort, not even an effort made to offset those costs with either Revenue Increases or spending reductions. Thats what we inherited. President biden from the getgo had a very different point of view. Rescuing the economy from an emergency, thats one thing. But on all of the longterm initiatives that he has proposed, every single one of them, he has identified how he would fully offset those costs over the long term and he has encouraged and urged congress to move legislation that would do that. Thats where were talking about here. Theres a lot of focus on throwing around big headline numbers. At The End of the day, the most important thing is the Net Cost to our budget and the net impact to families. And this bill is going to end up with a zero Net Cost. It could actually reduce longterm deficits and it is going to make familys lives a lot easier, lowering their costs and lowering inflationary pressures and building the productive capacity of our country. Thank you, brian deese. Thank you. A new front opened up in the fight over History And Race are taught in u. S. Schools. Students and parents in york, pennsylvania, are protesting a book ban. They say antiracism books and resources that are just culturally sensitive were removed from the curriculum by central yorks allwhite School Board last year. And this list of ban works includes a Childrens Book about rosa parks, malalas book, it includes Cnns Sesame Street Town Hall on racism. Joining me now to talk about this are a Mother And Son who is a student there. Sonya, to you first, tell us what this means to have your son in school and not having access to materials that just reflect, you know, who he is. Yeah. Its been really difficult. Isaiah is actually my second son thats gone through this School District. And this has been a thorn in our side for a couple of years now. This is not the first conversation and certainly im hoping it wont be the last conversation. We need to have materials and instructors in the School District that are reflective of the 30 Minority Population that they currently have in the district. Why do you think this started . Where did this come from . Well, it started back last year when all of the Police Brutality against people of color was hitting the news. There was conversations with teachers that wanted to know how do we address the students that have concerns. And so there was a board created on Diversity And Inclusion team created and this team was charged to get to find resources that would allow teachers to have authentic and real conversations with the students around these sensitive topics. Isaiah, what is it like for you being in school and knowing about these books that are banned . What does that mean for, you know, just your education and your exposure to books that seem perfectly, perfectly normal . When i first found out what happened, i really didnt understand what was going on. I pulled my friend aside and i told him about it. I think its very unfair because i mean, its books about my history and books about everything thats going around and how theres a lot of important africanamericans that are in our u. S. History and that we need to learn about, not just africanamericans like me or everybody has to learn about. So if you want to read a book about an africanamerican hero, if you want to read a book about the history of slavery and its impacts on modern day, you dont have access to that . We dont have access to that. Sonja, that is its pretty stunning. Well, i think as an africanamerican mother i make sure that my son has access at home, but its also equally important that my son has access at his school. And that has to happen. It absolutely has to happen. And i also sorry. Go on. No, with that being said there is a peaceful protest happening this monday. Im charging every central School Parent and the community at large to come out to the district on monday at 5 00 to make your voices heard that this is not acceptable at all for any student we should all be all students should have access to books of all authors, especially authors of color and authors of hispanic dissent. We had a peaceful protest last week and one of the Faculty Members or one of the people who work for central was able to bring a book from the Middle School to that protest that was on the history of the kkk and her question to the group was why was i able to, you know, take this book out of the Library Today but students are not able to have access to books with authors of color or people of color . So thats a question that the School Board needs to answer. Yeah. These are books that are on most shelves. I was volunteering in my childs library. I saw some of these books on the shelves for an elementary school. Well track this story. This is certainly not The End of this. We thank you very much for being with us this morning. My number one priority is to make sure that we keep violent offenders off the street. Reporter without backing off her investigation into trump. Were going to do it until its done. Thank you. Reporter now the Georgia Secretary of States Office was also conducting their own investigation into the Calls Trump made to officials there, but a source telling us they essentially deferred that as long as the Willis Investigation is on going. We, of course, reached out to trumps team for comment they didnt get back to us, brianna. Do you think hes worried about this one . I think hes probably more worried about New York at the moment, but it does seem like the d. A. In georgia has no interest in letting this go. Could certainly be a concern for him going forward. We know you will continue to follow indeed. Thank you for the report. So, the new Book Peril making all kinds of waves. Joints Chiefs Chairman Mark milley described as gathering Military Leaders to make sure a person he considered unstable Donald Trump didnt start a nuclear war unchecked. With me is Fred Caplan author of the bomb, president generals and the secret history of nuclear war. I want to talk about the nuclear process, fred, specifically and this is something you write on. What exactly, based on the reporting now from the book which you and i have both read at greater length than some of the articles about it, what did milley do to inject himself into that nuclear process . Theres been hype about this both in the book and the Press Coverage of the book. Let me just say very quickly how the nuclear process works because most people dont know this. The president doesnt have a button that he pushes. Somebody comes in with a big briefcase and has Communications Gear and code books. He sends a message to something called the national military Command Center in the pentagon headed by one star general. He authenticates that, yes, its me. Here is my proof that its me and i want you to do the following. Hes the only person who makes this decision. However, there is a protocol where a few officials are in on the consultation about this, including the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, Secretary Of Defense, head of Strategic Command, maybe some others as well. They dont have any Decisionmaking Power but theyre in on the process. As i understand it, all that milley was saying in this conversation with the officers at the Command Center was, make sure that im in on this consultation. He wasnt trying to subvert anything. Basically just make sure im on the Conference Call. Yeah. Which is part of the procedure. He was not subverting the procedure. If in part of this Procedure Milley on the Conference Call had said, mr. President , you cant do it, or dont do it. Yeah. What happens . The president can either listen to him or not listen to him. Same thing with the Secretary Of Defense, same thing with the head of Strategic Command who is also in on the call. Which, you know, that raises the larger questions. Is this really a good idea, whether its Donald Trump or Joe Biden or anybody, entrusting the power to essentially blow up the planet with one person, who may or may not be Mark Milley according to the book doesnt say dont follow the orders. He does not tell that to the other people here. The book refers to the schlesinger moment, james schlesinger, Secretary Of Defense under nixon who basically told generals, dont follow orders. That was a true thing. Schlesinger sent a message to the joint chiefs of staff saying, if you get any unusual orders from the White House, check with me first. Then brown sent a message to all the fourstar commanders for Nuclear Conventional War everywhere saying, do not follow an order until you come through me. Now, that was thats different. Thats very different. We have about 30 seconds. It gets to the larger issue. People know this is a problem that the president unilaterally basically can start a nuclear war. What is being done to address this . Nothing. There have been two hearings in the Atomic Age on this subject of nuclear launch control, one in 1976 shortly after nixon, and Donald Trump. Hey, we have unstable president s sometimes. What can we do about this . And essentially they did nothing about this. Again, its not in the constitution either. Yes, there are checks and balances, but ton start nuclear war. There werent nuclear weapons in the 1980s. Thank you very much. Next, a woman who disappeared on a crosscountry van trip, her family speaking out. Deborah norville joins us live. Ticking off france aimed at china. I bring families together for a living. I make memories for people i dont know yet. I know this view is too good not to be shared. I am a vrbo host. The Disa Fappearance of Gabby W reported by her family. The last appearance was grand teton. The photograph was authenticated. There was a communication by text from Gabbys Phone to the essence of, you might not hear from me. Were at yosemite. The service is bad. Now, yosemite national park is 800 miles away, which is given reason for a lot of people connected to the investigation of this case to be suspicious, but that text was actually sent by gabby. The emergence of this Police Body Cam Footage Weve seen from an incident on August 12th has raised the possibility that there was friction between this couple. There had been an argument that was so strenuous in a little Convenience Store in utah that a Bystander Called Police who later saw the van On The Road and pulled them over. That video from the Police Body Cam is the first indication of any friction between the couple and the Lastknown Video of gabby petito. Lets List Tone Part of that video. We have been fighting this morning. You know what i mean why wouldnt i let you in the car . You told me to calm down, yeah. But imperfectly calm. Sometimes i get frustrated. One of the things, debra, that stood out to me, she admits to pushing or shoving her fiancee. The police are looking at pictures of what appear to be minor physical injuries to him. Theres a mark on his face. Theres a mark on his arm. He talks about finger nails. And the Police Officer speaking to gabby basically says, look, i dont want to have to write this up. Its going to cause you a lot of trouble. Youre too young to kind of have a record, so i want to separate you two through the night. She was the one, debra, on record as a perpetrator if it went that direction. That is absolutely right. If you look at the tape in its entirety, the officer very carefully asked her, did you intend to harm him . And she responded, no, never. The sincerity with which she said that made it clear this was a heat of the moment situation. What i find interesting about that tape, however, is as upset and as distraught as gabby is as shes sitting on the side of the cars talking to the Police Officer, brian who had been separated and was in a different part of the Parking Area seemed very calm. I dont have many interactions with police, but it is usually sort of an increase your Heart Rate and increase your blood pressure situation. He seems as cool as a cucumber in that interaction, which, again, it is his constitutional right to be quiet, but it is one of those extra things that in the Court Of Public Opinion and in many of these disappearances, it is often the person who is the intimate partner who is the first individual that police or authorities want to talk to, which is why they very much want to speak to this man. He is the last known person who had been with her. Where is she . Is she alive . They may have questions. The family certainly wants to know. Deborah norville, a pleasure to have. Thank you. My appreciate ir. New day continues right now. Good morning to viewers here in the united states and around the world. It is friday, september 17, and the u. S. Capitol is on high alert this morning ahead of a Rally Tomorrow in support of the January 6th insurrectionists. The department of Homeland Security is warning of the potential for Violence Today. The former president , whose role in inciting the riot led to his second impeachment is endorsing this rally. Trump saying, our hearts and minds are with the people arrested at the insurrection. Overnight, a vivid example of what that violence and the threat of violence has accomplished. Ohio Congressman Anthony Gonzalez one of 10 house republicans who voted to impeach trump announced he will not run for reelection in 2022. He cites, Toxic Dynamics inside the gop. More than that, gonzalez says he was deluged with threats and fear for the safety of his wife and children. He needed extra security, telling The New York Times, quote, is this really what i want for my family when they travel, to have my wife and kids escorted through the airport . Joining us now is joe walsh, a former republican Congressman And President ial candidate. You know, Anthony Gonzalez was one of ten house republicans who voted to impeach Donald Trump in the second Impeachment Trial and hes no longer seeking reelection come 2022. I think that you as someone look, youre a conservative, but you were not on the Trump Train as so much of your party is, and you can kind of explain maybe what it is like to be in his position as he talks about this is really personally, its too much. Thats clearly in his calculation. Brianna, this is so disspiriting. I went to bed last night when i heard the Gonzalez News and im thinking to myself, the hell with it, im going to call it quits. I talk to the republican base every da
