Landfall as a strong category 4 storm in the next hour or so. The national Hurricane Center is reporting catastrophic Storm Surge and hurricaneforce winds moving onshore right now. Also happening right now, President Biden is at Dover Air Force base where hell attend the dignified transfer for the 13 american servicemen and women killed in kabul on thursday. Well bring you those moments when they happen. Stand by for that. Also this morning, the pentagon says a u. S. Drone strike took out a suspected Isisk Car Bomb which was targeting kabuls airport. Full reporting on that as well. We have a team of reporters standing by, first of all, in louisiana, ready to take you inside the storm as it makes landfall in the next hour or so. Lets get right to cnn Meteorologist Chad myers. Where is the storm now and whats the latest projection . When can we expect landfall along the Louisiana Coast . Sure. We call landfall when the center of the eye crosses over a beach or anywhere. Right now were getting the eye making landfall, but that doesnt count for landfall. That just means that the worst of the wind is now coming onshore for grand isle. 150mileperhour storm. This blew up, as we knew it would, overnight. When the Sun Set and the Air Mass cools off, the warm water in the Gulf Of Mexico exploded this eye. We watched the pressures dive like weve never seen. Only two or three storms have ever gone down this quickly in the Gulf Of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean in any future or any past. So here we go. Theres the storm coming onshore in grand isle. Ive Beening Looing at Wind Gusts and overwash in grand isle. Its not very good there and about to get worse as the eyewall comes onshore. We have the extreme Wind Warning stretching almost up to the West Bank into New Orleans. Anywhere you see that red, youre going to see Wind Gusts of 115 or more. Here are the gusts we have right now, were buoys out here and Oil Rigs out here that have reported numbers over 100 miles per hour already. Those numbers are likely to go up. Look at the size of the area thats going to be 110 or greater. Down here obviously in the bottom of the boot, youll be 130 or greater. This 110 or greater gets very, very close to metry and well lose power for a very long time. Some people wont get power back for a month. Here are the shell beach, Sixfoot Surge and that number will certainly go up. Wolf, well need 10 tore 16 feet for Storm Surge. In the back areas, the back levees may not hold all this water. We may flood some of the southern West Bank towns, overtopping some of these levees. I talked to the army corps, they said theyre built to withstand it. If you get to the top of the levee and get a Tenfoot Wave on top of that, that will go over. If youre in plaquemines parish, you need to pay attention to that potential. Katrina had 59 tornadoes. Weve had Tornado Reports and warnings. As it comes closer to shore, thats when the tornadoes will be most prevalent as we work our way into later on this afternoon. The storm is out of here by friday. Its a big storm with heavy rainfall. All the threats are with us. I Cant Help, chad im sure a lot of our viewers Cant Help but remember it was exactly 16 years ago today when Katrina Hit Louisiana and the gulf coast. More than 1800 people killed as a result of katrina. The levees didnt hold up in the New Orleans area. Walk us through the difference. That was a category 3. Is going to be a category 4, approaching a Category 5. Right. The problem of trying to compare the two is katrina was a Category 5 down here in the Gulf Of Mexico. So it built its surge, all the water in its bubble and pushed the water even though the storm was dying in intensity because the water got colder, it pushed the water into Lake Ponchartrain. Thats where all the surge and the Ninth Ward and the breaking of the levees in ponchartrain, thats where it came from. This storm was a 1 or 2 until about midnight. The surge has not built with this. Were still going to get 10 to 15. Bay st. Louis had a 26foot surge. We dont know the number because none of the Surge Monitors survive. We only know the number because of where the waterline was as it moved onshore. This is a storm i think people dont understand what 150 means. Ill give you a quick primmer here. If you take a 75 might be hurricane and compare it to a 1 150mileperhour hurricane, that seems like its two times stronger. Thats not the way it works. Its not a linear progression. Its exponential. You have to do the two times two times two time two. By the time you use a one multiplier for 75 miles per hour, by the time you ged to ida, 256 times more damage with 150 than 75. Thats where it blows your mind when you talk about a category 4 or 5 and the potential damage and the surge and the wind and the tornadoes and the flooding comes in. Going to be awful in the next several hours. Well have extensive live coverage. Chad, well get back to you. I want to bring in our Meteorologist Derek Van dam in houma, louisiana. Ida expected to make landfall right around where you are. Give us a little sense of what youre experiencing already and its still an hour or two or three away. Reporter wolf, thats right. This is the stuff of nightmares. Its unfolding right before us. We are staring down the eye of a monster not 50 miles away from where im standing in houma, louisiana. This is the time to shelter in place. If you had friends that didnt evacuate, if youre here in this location and didnt evacuate, its time to get inside your home, away from windows, in that secure location that youve thought about and have your Hurricane Preparedness ready. Extreme Wind Warnings have been designated for this area all the way to the Gulf Of Mexico. That is reserved from the national Weather Service for only the most rarest of events, this being one of them. 115mileperhour sustained winds at a minimum. That is lifethreatening. That is potentially catastrophic to this area. Thats why theyve issued that extreme Wind Warning. Every once in a while, were starting to see the Wind Gusts come in. Remember hurricaneforce winds extend out 50 Nat Call miles from the center of major Hurricane Ida. Thats about as far out as we are from the center of the storm. Were now starting to experience the onset, the onslaught of Hurricane Idas worst. Were anticipating conditions that go down here within this area, the Terrebonne Parish, protected by levees and Flood Gates. The Flood Gates have been closed. Theyre meant to protect this particular location. About 100,000 people live here, most evacuated hopefully. Its meant to protect them from catastrophic flooding and Storm Surge. Of course, it only measures up to a category 3 hurricane. We know ida will make landfall as a strong category 4. When were talking about a strong powerful 4 or a minimum 5, were splitting hairs here. The damage will be catastrophic. We know whats coming and were preparing for it. When you say youre preparing for it, derek, a lot of viewers will be worried about you, our Photo Journalists, pro dduction people. Our cameraman, photo journalist, our crew is completely safe in a sheltered area. This is a building that is reinforced with concrete. It was built 13 years ago, so thats Post Katrina. You know today is the 16th anniversary of katrina. There were different Hurricane Codes Post Katrina for buildings like this. We have doublepane windows that can withstand category 3 winds. Of course, this is a category 4. That concrete reinforced structure will mean everything to us as we retreat inside the building away from windows, like our viewers should be doing now. You say most of the people where you are in Houma Have evacuated. Have they managed to get out safely . The orders have been given over the past couple days. Reporter evacuations started yesterday at 6 00 a. M. In the Terrebonne Parish where im located. The mandatory curfew went into effect 6 00 p. M. Saturday. We saw people taking advantage of that, taking advantage of the narrow window of time to fill sandbags, protect property, protect their lives and businesses as well. Then at 6 00 p. M. , there was a ghost town. There was nobody on the streets. People took it seriously. Occasionally well see Police Officers drive by, monitoring the area to make sure everyone is safe. Really, we can see the winds just starting to bend over some of the trees here. Weve got palms above us ive been in a lot of hurricanes, wolf. One of the concerns i have from the strong winds within this general area, a lot of the shingles come off buildings around the area, some of the metal fabrication. Thats something well monitor. A lot of times people wonder why does Derek And Other Reporters stand in the middle of the storm. Its our job to show you at home why you evacuated. We need to tell that story to show you what it is, the reasoning that you were forced to leave your homes and your businesses and your property so you know what to come back to. The levees that have been built, rebuilt, strengthened as a result of katrina 16 years ago today, are people pretty confident Theyll Hold in this category 4, almost Category 5 storm . Reporter theres no doubt, wolf, well be testing the extremes, the limits of the Levee And Flood Gate And Hurricane Protection System here within the Terrebonne Parish. In New Orleans they spent around 15 Billion Post Katrina to build up their hurricane Levee And Flood Protection System. Here its called the morganza to gulf hurricane Protection System. That was designed and built in 2013. It is meant to withstand category 3. When were talking about a powerful category 4, teetering on Category 5, thats when we start testing the limits of what it is capable of. Derek, be careful over there. Well get back to you. Derek Van Dam on the scene for us. Further inland Ed Lavandera is joining us. It looks relatively calm so far. I suspect it will be getting a whole lot worse. Reporter Port Vincent is one of dozens, if not hundreds of towns here in Southern Louisiana that are praising for not just the wind impact from this hurricane, but the Rain And Flooding that will come. Port vincent is on the banks of the amy river. This is an event that will last not just throughout the course of this day and the storm. It will last for several days. Arlene mere lives in this house. I was just speaking with her. Just like many people in the region, they know to the inch how much water it will take to get inside their homes. They said the water to the front door of her house is 11 3. The latest report she got is that floodwaters could reach close to 13 feet. Shes clearly in a very nervous situation now. Residents weve seen here in this community doing a lot of this. They plan to ride out the storm here and have their belongings ready to go and drive into higher ground as the storm approaches. Even south of where we are. Take a community like la feet, louisiana, about to take a direct impact from the eye of the storm, there are still people planning to ride out the storm. We spoke with ronald dufresne, a commercial shrimper, he plans to ride out the storm on a 100foot shrimp boat. I spoke with him just a little while ago, wolf. Ive ridden my boat in average storm for the last 42 years. I rode out three of them last year. Dont get me wrong, this is a Buzz Saw we have coming. We rode out katrina here at the dock. During the summer last year, was in brownsville around this time we rode one out. Mother nature is a beast. Why dont you want to evacuate . My livelihood. I feel its the safest place the safest for me and that family is on that boat. Thats the way i feel. You get on a highway and drive 15 Hours Bumpertobumper Traffic with maniacs, youre surrounded by steel. Ive got enough Food And Water for months. Reporter so ronald says hes going to wait it out there on his boat. The thing hes most concerned about, wolf, is another ship in the area becoming dislodged and being flung into his ship. Thats what hes most concerned about. Here in the communities a little up stream from where that gentleman is, theyre really bracing for this double punch, the storm coming in today and then over the course of the next few days as the storm passes over, dumping Rain Water North of them. All of that has to come back south and flow back toward the Gulf Of Mexico. Thats where the flooding comes. Thats what theyre bracing for here in the coming days. A lot of people, millions, presumably, will be losing power as well. Ed, be careful there. Tell our Photo Journalists to be careful as well. Well get back to you. Were continuing to follow the Breaking News on Hurricane Ida. Its expected to make landfall in the next hour or two or three as a strong category 4 storm. Once again, welcome back to our Special Edition of the Situation Room. Were following Breaking News as we track Hurricane Ida which is expected to make a very strong category 4 landfall in the next hour or two. Category 4. The national Hurricane Center is reporting catastrophic Storm Surge and hurricaneforce winds moving onshore. Flooding, of course, is a major concern especially in New Orleans as well as elsewhere. New orleans already seeing its second Wettest Year on record. All flights have been canceled for today. Cnns Nadia Romero is in the French Quarter for us. What are you seeing and what are the latest conditions youre experiencing . Reporter wolf, its really picking up right now. Were definitely feeling that wind weve been knowing was going to come. Its now happening here. It is so windy out, right now were right next to Lake Ponchartrain. Theres a bridge that takes you to the other side of covington. This area is being pounded right now by hurricane irma. You can see the trees are taking a beating from that wind. Thats the reason why we have thousands of people without power. Thats one of the fears so many people could lose power for what could be weeks because of the storm. Take a look. Were also concerned about Storm Surge. The wind coming over, picking up the water and moving it over the Levee System. That Levee System some 20 Billion that was poured into it all through out this area after hurricane katrina. You know, this is the 16th anniversary of hurricane katrina. So many people remember what happened on that day and what happened the day after when the levees broke. We are feeling the impact of ida as she makes her way through the gulf coast. So many people were frying to evacuate. We met some people who were pretty stubborn saying i made it through rita and katrina, im not leaving for ida. The governor of louisiana, Governor John Bel Edwards made it clear No One is coming to save you, rescue you, until after the storm passes. We have National Guard troops throughout the gulf coast, alabama, mississippi, louisiana all on standby. We have fema in the area as well, with truck loads full of supplies to help people after the storm. For right now people are hunkering down trying to survive the Storm Surge, the flooding, the lack of electricity, all the things that will come from this major category 4. How far are you, right now, nadia, from the French Quarter in New Orleans . A lot of us are very, very familiar with that area. Millions of tourists have visited there, although its pretty emity right now. Were not far at all. Let me just turn around. On the other side of railroad is jackson square. On the other side of that, just maybe down the block is cafe Du Monde. Thats one of the most wellknown areas in New Orleans, where everyone goes and gets their Bin Yays. All of that is you can walk to the french Quarter And Bourbon street if you wanted to. Obviously Today Wouldnt be the best day to do it. A lot of people live on the other side of Lake Ponchartrain and commute back and forth over the causeway. Today would not be a good day to do that. It would be an awful day to do that. I hope most people did accept the orders to evacuate. I want you, nadia, and our crew to be very careful. Well stay in close touch with you. Once it gets really bad, i know you have a location where its safe and secure. Well get back to you. Excellent reporting, Nadia Romero. I want to check back with Meteorologist Chad myers. You can hear the wind, see the wind. Its only beginning right now. It will get a whole lot worse in the next hour or two or three. Well add ten more miles per hour to what you just saw over the next five hours. Hopefully we can get her and the crew behind a nice building, still show the effects, but keep everybody away from windows and the wind. The big story here is going to be people losing windows, people losing shingles and tree branches. You dont want to be out there in those winds when things start flying around. We talk about the 150mileperhour winds. Those winds are only around the eye itself. Theres a secondary eye thats trying to form here. The winds in that part, the secondary eye, probably around 100 miles per hour. If you take this whole thing and i move it with my hand right here to where its going, these 75 to 100mileperhour winds are going to get into baton rouge, kenner, laplace and New Orleans proper. By the time a lot of the wind gets here, it will be dark. Thats a real dangerous time to be outside. Ive been to cafe Du Monde three times and its been closed all three times because they close it for hurricanes. Ive never had the Bin Yay yet. Ive been there several occasions. A great exciting place to be. Eventually well get back to normal and have a good time over there. Right now its a good time to stay away from that area. Were staying on top of Hurricane Ida. Its going to be a category 4 storm. Much more coming up on that. Were also following Breaking News out of afghanistan now. The u. S. Has carried out an Air Strike against a suspected Isisk Suicide Bomber inside kabul. Our cnn national Security Editor Nick Paton Walsh is in doha, qatar. Oren Leigh Lieberman at the pentagon. Oren, what do we know first of all about this u. S. Drone strike . The strike was carried out by a drone that came in probably from a base in the gulf. The initial information was there was a secondary source of exsieves, meaning on board that car that triggered a larger explosion which is part of the reason that led the u. S. To believe they hit their target. It is unclear according to Defense Officials weve spoken with, whether it was a Car Bomb or whether there were one or more Suicide Bombers on board that car ready to carry out what u. S. Central command called an imminent threat to the airport. That information is still being assessed. Defense officials are sure they hit a valid target because of the explosives on board. Were looking for more information on that, as well as assessing Civilian Casualties as a result of the strike. It was only about 15 hours ago that the u. S. Embassy in kabul said they had a credible threat and warned u. S. Citizens to get away from the airport and away from specific gates. President Joe Biden has said just yesterday they were looking at the possibility of another attack against the airport in the next 24 to 36 hours. That gives you an idea of the environment in which this operation, both the evacuation of afghans and u. S. Citizens as well as withdrawing the u. S. Forces on Kabul International Airport at this time. In spite of the threat, in spite of the drone threat, the evacuation continues. Some 2,900 people moved in a 24hour Span according to the latest numbers we have. Its worth noting there are fewer people on each flight. The average less than 100 people on a flight. When it was 350 people on a flight a few days ago. Evacuation continues in the days of the surrounding threats. Imminent threat was the information from u. S. Central command. Theyre assessing reports of Civilian Casualties. Because of the secondary explosions on the car that was hit, they are confident they took out a valid target, either a Car Bomb or Suicide Bombers on board that car. Wolf. Still bracing for a strike from isisk. I assume this will only embolden them to move up any planned Terrorist Attack theyre launching. I know u. S. Officials are bracing for that, right . Absolutely. Thats been on the radar for more than a week at this point and before biden talked about the Isisk Threat to the airport. Lets remember it was about 13 hours ago that the u. S. Announced they carried out a strike in Nangarhar Province which is eastsoutheast of the airport. The window is narrowing. You would think the urgency for isisk to carry out an attack is growing because soon there wont be a u. S. Military presence there as they work to evacuate as many people as possible. Security becomes an even greater risk and greater question. Why theres an urgency not only to get u. S. Troops out before that August 31st deadline, up until that deadline, but also the urgency for any Tear Roar Group to carry out an attack against the remaining u. S. Presence. Well get back to you, oren. Well be anxious to hear from the leadership. I want to go to doha, qatar. Nick Paton Walsh. The u. S. On alert for more Terrorist Attacks. Could we see more u. S. Air strikes in these final two days before the complete withdrawal scheduled for tuesday . Reporter there is definitely that possibility. I was a little surprised we had another one quite so quickly. It does appear, according to a u. S. Official i spoke to, this either Suicide Bomber or Car Bomb was, quote, loaded and ready to go. They assess they were dealing with a very specific and immediate threat. I should point out reports from the scene do suggest possibly more casualties than the one Suicide Bomber killed. I know my colleagues jake Tapper And Barbara starr are being told possibly more Suicide Bombers may have been hit in this, too. Unclear information at this early stage and also, too, the Phrasing News around the possibility of Civilian Casualties does suggest theyre actually looking at that possibility. But at the same time, it feeds into a broader picture of the growing threats to the airport. That is increasing as the numbers of americans on it decrease. We dont have detail as to quite what number theyre at at the moment. Of course, the Evacuation Operations are beginning to slow dramatically. The last 12hour period, if my math is correct, had about 900 people flown out, despite the sheer number of aircraft that are going into the airport, it seems that theyre more involved in the retrograde process, the packing up and bringing them out. In the next 48 hours, 72 hours, well see the last american Soldier Leaf Afghanistan after americas longest war which will be, frankly, a monumental moment, so many american families impacted by this war, not just the last week, but the last 20 years. Security will be something i imagine theyll have to negotiate still further with the taliban, the last moments of that withdrawal. The pentagon very clear that the gates around the airport are still under their control. Theyre not controlled by the taliban. We know for a fact that the southern entrance of the airport does have a taliban presence on it that often notes the entry. There comes a point when the number of u. S. Troops on that airport reduces to the point where they have to pull away from the perimeter and think about getting on their aircraft and pulling out. Clearly the Isisk Threat is something constantly monitored, but also acted against. Nick, thank you. Stand by. Ill go to chief white House Correspondent Kaitlan collins is on scene for us. President biden is at Dover Air Force base taking part in the dignified transfer of the 13 Service Members killed in the Terror Attack in afghanistan. Tell us about that. I understand were going to be getting video fairly soon. Reporter yeah, wolf, we will. The president has been there about four hours. Its him and the First Lady and several top aides. This Morning Theyve been meeting privately with the families of the 13 who were killed in that Suicide Blast last week. About 30 minutes ago is when this dignified transfer got under way. Thats where you see the flagdraped Transfer Cases coming out of the plane, making their way against the tarmac, an incredibly solemn moment for the families who have gotten the worst news that a Military Family can get. You saw him earlier climbing the stairs of Air Force one as they headed to Dover Air Force base in delaware. This is a dignified transfer thats expected to last about two hours given there are 13 families that are there. 11 of them have agreed to have Media Coverage of that. That is something that has only been in practice since about 2009 when the pentagon started allowing that. Each family has the right to say whether or not they would like that to be covered. 11 of the 13 families have. All 13 families are there as the president is meeting with them behind closed doors. We should note during this dignified transfer, it is a very somer time, the president s first time doing it since taking office. He attended some of these dignified transfers as Vice President , i think was at one during his final months as Vice President. This is the first one for him since taking office. Hes spending several hours there. This is something where the president is going to be meeting with these families and talking to them for the first time since they actually got this news. He will later return to the white house. Regarding what oren was saying about other possible attacks, as theyre closing in on the final hours of this evacuation, President Biden is expected to get a briefing with his top national security aides in the Situation Room to be updated on the latest, including the Drone Strike that happened while at Dover Air Force base this morning. I just want to read from the Air Force Mortuary Affairs operation guidebook, it says, quote, the dignified transfer is not a ceremony. Rather it is a solemn movement of a Transfer Case by a Carry Team comprised of Military Personnel from the fallens service. I know the president will be very moved not only by the dignified transfer, but also meeting with these family members, the Gold Star families who are clearly suffering right now. Theres another piece of news i want you to share with our viewers, kaitlan t. Secretary of state was talking about what the u. S. Diplomatic presence in afghanistan will be after the complete military withdraw on tuesday. Tell our viewers what he said. Reporter this is a change from what the president and the secretary of state and their team envisioned back in april when he was talking about withdrawing all u. S. Forces from afghanistan. They initially planned to maintain a diplomatic presence in kabul. Obviously we saw that diplomatic presence was decreased by quite a big amount, leave the embassy earlier after kabul fell to the taliban. They had been operating at the airport. Now secretary of State Blinken says its highly unlikely theyll have any kind of on the ground diplomatic presence once the u. S. Is out of there on tuesday. Thats incredibly significant for a lot of the diplomats that have worked in this embassy for the last two decades, since the u. S. Reestablished an embassy there. This is obviously because of the Security Situation on the ground. Its not safe for people to be there. It does speak to the level of how much the ontheground situation has changed since kabul did fall to the taliban. Secretary blinken saying this morning its unlikely theres going to be one after the u. S. Leaves on tuesday. Whether or not they reestablish that this the weeks and months to come remains to be seen. He says a lot of that depends on the conduct of the taliban and the Security Situation on the ground. Wolf, weve seen how tenuous this is going to look. No one knows how it will look like and how the airport will be run after tuesday. A lot of things up in the air. It seems clear the u. S. Is not going to have a diplomatic presence on the ground in afghanistan after u. S. Forces leave on tuesday. We Cant Stress enough how dangerous, how tense the situation is on the ground in kabul right now, these final couple days before the u. S. Troop withdrawal is complete on tuesday. Kaitlan collins, well get back to you. Nick Paton Walsh, oren lieb liebermann, well get back to you as well. Bring out the boldā„¢ were just getting some video in from Dover Air Force base, the dignified transfer of the 13 Service Members killed in that Terrorist Attack in kabul is now taking place. The president , the First Lady, the Secretary Of Defense and many others are on the scene. Theyve been meeting with the family members, the Gold Star families. They went aboard that plane to see the coffins, and now theyre being theres going to be a ceremony outside. Lets just watch. [ Audio Silence ]. This is the dignified transfer of the Service Members killed in that Terrorist Attack in kabul. You see the president and First Lady, the Secretary Of Defense and others receiving these flagdraped coffins. A very, very somber moment indeed. So far two of the american Service Members, their coffins have been brought off that plane. Theres still 11 to go. 11 marines, one soldier, u. S. Army soldier, and one sailor killed in that Terrorist Attack. Lets continue to watch. [ Audio Silence ]. As we continue to watch the dignified transfer of these Service Members at Dover Air Force base, theres the First Lady. Lieutenant general mark hurt ling. The military calls these Transfer Cases. Give us a little sense. Youve participated in these very somber, moving moments. The dignified transfer remains are gutwrenchingly emotional. It will stay with you the rest of your life, for anyone who has been to dover and met forces. In fact, the military assigns and asks for volunteers of senior general officer, Flag Officers to go there whenever someone comes back. So when you see everyone in the crowd there, not only the president and the First Lady, but the sec def, the secretary of the joint chiefs, general Mccon Ville from the army, chief of naval operations, admiral gilday, the Air Force chief, the marine commandant, theyre all there as well as many other allies. Thats call these Transfer Cases because theyre being loaded up into vans right now. Theyll be shipped to facilities within Dover Air Force base where military Mortuary Affairs technicians, literally military members who have the occupational specialty of being morticians, if you will, will prepare the remains for forward movement to their home base. Now, what will happen is those remains will be prepared, just like a mortician would. They will be dressed in Brand New dress uniforms. They will be placed in a casket, and the Casualty Assistant Officer who is with each one of these 13, will continue to stay with that body as it moves across the nation to the various hometowns of these marines and a Sailor And Army soldier. So all of these things are part of a process. It is a welcoming Home Ceremony to the remains at dover. Wolf, ive got to tell you, having trained they take this job as just an unbelievable duty and they do it with a sense of honor and dignity, and they know that the preparation of these remains to ship home that fair families is one of the most important jobs the military does. Its interesting that we actually have Military Specialists who do this work, but their duty to these young soldiers and sailors and marines and their final movement is just incredible. When you have, as were seeing today, the remains of more than a dozen and i think it speaks to the Service And Sacrifice of those who joined the military. Whenever youre in that crowd of people, as we see the Camera Fade away from the president and the other military members and refocus on the back of that c17, it is an emotionally devastating day. It really brings home the requirement to ensure that we only send our military into Harms Way when its desperately needed to protect the nation, when there is an existential threat. I think Thats Part of the conversation that many people will be having after this completion of the mission in afghanistan. It is so moving.
