Discussing booster shots. This just hours after the fda announced some people with weakened Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune System should get a third dose right away. And the news that comes out of the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/cdc-meeting'>Cdc Meeting could impact millions of americans as the nation right now averages nearly 124,000 new cases a day. Cnn is in mississippi where doctors are treating patients in a hospital parking garage. Adrian . Pamela, good afternoon. The Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/parking-structure'>Parking Structure behind me on the lower level is what a team of doctors is transforming right now. If you step inside of that area, which will be designated for covid patients who need minimal care, you will see Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/hospital-beds'>Hospital Beds in spaces that were once reserved for parked cars. This is all a move to relieve the pressure from the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/emergency-department'>Emergency Department here at the university of mississippi medical center. This as the state announces more than 5,000 new covid cases. 98 of those cases, the new cases, that is, were among the unvaccinated. I spoke with the associate Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/vice-chancellor'>Vice Chancellor at the hospital. He told me these numbers terrify him. We just cant continue to sustain a trajectory that were on. If we continue this way, there will be nowhere for a patient to go for anything. For any type of care. And you know, youll see environments where people are in hallways and not able to we cant get to them for 10, 12, 14 hours. Thats not what we want to do. And the hope that this challenge right now will be temp temporary. That is the hope. As he said, they cannot continue on that trajectory theyre on. And there is also tragic Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/news-today'>News Today out of broward county, florida. Four educators there dying from covid in 24 hours. What more are we learning about this . That was tough news for some to hear. We heard that all four of those employees were believed to be unvaccinated. And across that district, at least 138 have tested positive for covid. Pamela . Thank you so much for bringing us the latest there. And joining us now is dr. George williams, an Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/icu-physician'>Icu Physician in houston and dr. Julie marita, executive Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/vice-president'>Vice President of the great to see you both. Thank you for taking some time out of your day to talk to us. Dr. Marita, the cdc is meeting on boo boosters. Last night the fda aproved an additional dose for immune compromised people. I think were at a critical point in terms of having enough information to say that people whose Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune Systems are not strong or are weakened because of transplantation or because they have cancer, they would benefit from a third dose of one of the mrna vaccines. If people had two doses, they likely need a third dose just to get the immune response thats necessary to provide protection. Dr. Fauci says sooner or later, Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/booster-wills'>Booster Wills likely be needed for everyone. Israel is already giving people 65 or older a dose. If we know were headed that way, why not just recommend it for the elderly . Because for many of them, they had their vaccines six months or more ago. So critical distinction to make right now is the doses that are being recommended are considered by the advisory committee at the cdc today. They are not Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/booster-dose'>Booster Doses. Theyre doses, third doses for people who didnt respond really well to the first two doses. These are people who dont have normal Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune Systems. Thats different than a Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/booster-dose'>Booster Dose recommended to people who have responded well to the vaccine previously and their immunity is waning. Were not at a point where were seeing theres waning immunity. The cdc and other researchers tHroughout the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/country-and-world'>Country And World are monitoring to see are these Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/breaktHrough-cases'>BreaktHrough Cases occurring and who is being affected . And at this point its too early to say the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/booster-dose'>Booster Doses the recommended. Were talking about the third doses for people whose Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune Systems are weakened. And doctor williams, i want to bring you in. Youre seeing whats going on firsthand. Youve described the icu where you work to be like a war zone. How is the surge in texas right now comparedpsurges . The difference this time is we have younger patients getting sicker quicker, coming to the icu quicker and having the rapid escalation of care. The sad part is the vast majority of patients in the icu are unvaccinated individuals. It feels a little preventable because were not seeing a lot of vaccinated patients but a great deal of unvaccinated patients in the icu. Are you currently treating any vaccinated patients . Help us understand what youre seeing in terms of that as well. Well, we actually have occasionally seen vaccinated patients admitted to the hospital. But essentially right now we dont have any vaccinated patients that are currently were taking care of. We have seen it and it is reality. The big point to make a big difference is that the vaccinated patients even when they come to the hospital, they seem to not be as sick as unvaccinated patients. Thats what we would expect based on the immunology behind how a vaccine works and how we expected it to prevent acute disease or severe disease more often. I think thats the key point. Had they not been vaccinated, they would be more sick or perhaps have died. I think thats a key point in all of this. Doctor, you served on president Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/bidens-covid19'>Bidens Covid19 Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/advisory-panel'>Advisory Panel and you have a strategy you say will defeat the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/delta-variant'>Delta Variant and end the pandemic. What is it . Its really critical to make sure the vaccines are getting out there. Vaccines are the path out of this pandemic. And we really need to make sure everyone who is eligible to get the vaccine gets the vaccine. We have to make sure were vaccinating people, adults, that can be vaccinated so were protecting children who cannot be vaccinated or others who kraent with vaccinated. When the vaccine is available for young children, making sure its available for them as well. All right. Doctors, thank you both. Thank you. Thank you. Fresh u. S. Troops could be arriving in afghanistan at any time scrambling to fortify a u. S. Embassy as the nation around it crumbles. Taliban fighters swept across the country with breathtaking speed far faster than washington expected and feared. The Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/extremist-group'>Extremist Group now controls at least half the provincial capitols in all the major cities. Other areas are under siege. They have tackled kabul where the 3,000 u. S. Troops will help protect the drawdown of the u. S. Embassy. Oren, how quickly is the situation deteriorating . Very quickly. 17 out of 34 provincial capitols overtaken since last thursday or friday. That shows the speed with which theyve moved. The speed with which the afghan Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/army-and-military'>Army And Military have crumbled before them as theyve made these advances across the country with what seems to be a clear intend. Isolate kabul, and at least have the option of moving on it. Because of that speed, the u. S. Has accelerated its own plans, a partial drawdown of the embassy. A warning to u. S. Citizens to get out as quickly as possible and the acceleration of the plans to remove afghan interpreters and families who helped the u. S. That process is just at the beginning. Some 1200 have come out of the country. Perhaps just a little bit more at this point. There are still Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/tens-of-thousands'>Tens Of Thousands of more and now under the pressure of the taliban having surrounded kabul with the option essentially the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/pressure-theyve'>Pressure Theyve put on it, and possibly coming closer. They have taken key cities including the third largest city. They control parts of the second largest city. And this speaks to the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/momentum-and-force'>Momentum And Force with which they are moving. Military officials here had warned there was an option that the taliban could have the strength, the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/cia-director'>Cia Director at Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/the-end'>The End of last month warned the taliban is in the strongest position its been in the last 20 years. This was possible. Was it expected . Not yet. You remember, jeremy, i think it was back in july when president biden said it wasnt inevitable that the taliban would take over the country. Now it looks that way. He stands by his decision for the withdrawal. A move supported by a majority of americans. What is the mood inside the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/white-house'>White House now given how rapidly this is happening . Yeah. And not only did the president say it wasnt inettable. He said it was highly unlikely the taliban would take over the country of afghanistan. And that is what appears to be happening rapidly. Certainly more rapidly than the u. S. Intelligence community assessed. Inside the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/white-house'>White House i can tell you the president for his part, he certainly is not second guessing his decision here. He stands by it. In fact, officials have told me own my colleagues that if anything, the speed with which the taliban have been able to overrun Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/afghan-security-forces'>Afghan Security Forces in the front lines, that has bolstered the president s view here. That if 20 years and a trillion plus dollars couldnt bolster the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/afghan-security-forces'>Afghan Security Forces to the point where they withstand an advance, there would not be any point in the u. S. Continuing the involvement. A surge of u. S. Troops is the only other option this administration viewed. They viewed a taliban advance as inevitable here regardless of whether or not u. S. Troops were there and, therefore, unless you withdraw, you would have to bolster the forces to be able to withstand that advance. I can tell you according to an official i spoke to a little bit ago, the president will be regularly briefed on the situation in afghanistan this weekend while he is at the president ial retreat at camp david. So again, no second guessing but certainly a big effort in this administration to continue the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/con-tin'>Con Tin Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/jen-ri-planning'>Jen Ri Planning and prepare for the worst case scenario, the taliban quickly approaching kabul. We have Breaking News in to the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/cnn-news'>Cnn News room. The Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/intention-chief'>Intention Chief at the department of Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/homeland-security'>Homeland Security says theres an alarming amount of online chatter right now from extremists. John cohen says its strikingly similar to what was out there before the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/january-6th'>January 6th attack on the u. S. Capitol. Lets get to our senior national correspondent alex. What specifically are officials hearing . Reporter this is disturbing news from an exclusive interview our colleague did with Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/dhs-head'>Dhs Head of intelligence. And what he is saying is that some of this online chatter, on Social Media and different online platforms include pHrases like The System is broken. They call on people to take action into their own hands. And to bring out the gallows. It is hard to underestimate how significant these comments can be, because as you know, pam, on Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/january-6th'>January 6th, we heard calls by the Capitol Insurrectionists To Hang mike pence. There were actually gallows, makeshift gallows on the national mall. It is not just that these comments are similar to what we saw before Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/january-6th'>January 6th according to cohen. There is an Up Tick in the calls for violence. Cohen told cnn there are a number of Conspiracy Theories but they all revolve around the Big Lie. All of this, he says, is being fuelled by this the lie that the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/conspiracy-theory'>Conspiracy Theory that Donald Trump actually won the election. It was stolen from him and that Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/joe-biden'>Joe Biden is not the legitimate president. And that lie, as you know, simply wont die, because people continue to talk about it. It continues to be supported. We still see the former president going around the country saying the election was stolen from him. People like Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/mike-lindell'>Mike Lindell saying he has proof that the election was illegitimate. It has been widely debunked. The department of Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/homeland-security'>Homeland Security has repeatedly warned that the persistence of the Big Lie could lead to violence. There is no specific tHreat, they say, but they have said that it could lead to deadly violence. And now you have the head of intelligence at Dhs Pointing to comments and saying that they are incredibly dangerous and that they are growing. And that is concerning, because as officials look back on Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/january-6th'>January 6th and how it happened, they said well, in large part it was a failure of imagination. We had chatter coming in. We didnt know it would lead to this. Now they know what can happen from chatter youre laying out. Thats disturbing. Alex, thank you for bringing us the latest. Russia is actively trying to interfere in the 2022 midterm elections. Officials say moscows meddling never actually stopped and has only evolved since 2016. Cnn white Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/house-reporter'>House Reporter is following this for us. Natasha, this comes despite president bidens warnings to Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/president-putin'>President Putin and a new round of sanctions in the spring. What more are you learning . Were learning the russian interference really never stopped despite all the warnings from the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/white-house'>White House to vladimir putin. There needs to be a new track here in u. S. russia relations. The russians is relentless when it comes to Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/sewing-chaos'>Sewing Chaos in u. S. Society. They want to interfere in the 2022 midterm elections. Thats according to the intelligence sources. Thats being conveyed to the president to the ultimate consumer of this intelligence. And he alluded to that a couple weeks ago saying that this was a violation of u. S. Sovereignty, the efforts by the russians to interfere. So what theyre doing according to our sources is theyre kind of trying to sew Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/debate-and-division'>Debate And Division and chaos over the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/covid-vaccines'>Covid Vaccines and over Mask Mandates. Thats one area where theyre trying to drive wedges between americans and perhaps capitalize on the political divisiveness that already exists in our society over the coronavirus. So thats one area where theyre making a lot of efforts to kind of spread on Social Media that the vaccines are not safe. That the biden administration is tyrannical for imposing the Mask Mandates and they hope to create this environment where the public is even more divided than usual. And so theyre amplifying voice the on the extremes and pretty much using the same strategy that they have been over the last two election cycles in 2020 and 2016. The thing is their tactics are changing. Thats what intel officials tell us we have to watch out for. All right. Natasha, thank you so much. Democratic in fighting could tHrow a wrench into bidens domestic agenda. Nine members from his party are warning Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/theyll-block'>Theyll Block the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/budget-plan'>Budget Plan unless something else is dealt with first. Cnns Chief Congressional Correspondent joins us now. Manu, help us understand whats going on there. How real is this tHreat . Well, pelosi has to pay attention. She has very little margin for error. Just tHree democratic votes she can afford to lose. There are nine democratic house members demanding a change in the leadership strategy. The strategy being at the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/moment-pelosi'>Moment Pelosi is suggesting shed put off a vote on the bipartisan Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/infrastructure-bill'>Infrastructure Bill that passed i among bipartisan lines in the senate. She suggested she would wait to move on that until the senate moves on the larger 3. 5 trillion reconciliation package. Thats a wide range of P Priorities for the biden administration. What the mad rats want is a shift. They want an immediate vote on the bipartisan Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/infrastructure-plan'>Infrastructure Plan before acting on that democratic only approach and this is the concern for democrats. Because they are tHreatening to withhold their support for a key Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/budget-vote'>Budget Vote later this month. Now, that is important, because they have to approve the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/budget-resolution'>Budget Resolution in order to move on the larger democratic agenda. So if these democrats ultimately carry out on this tHreat and withhold their vote, that could tank the effort to move things that move that larger package. Now, the problem also facing the moderates, however, is that a number of the progressive democrats have said theyll vote against the bipartisan Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/infrastructure-plan'>Infrastructure Plan if its put on the floor first, because they say it is inadequate and they want to pressure all 50 senate democrats to approve the larger economic package first. It shows you how difficult a Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/balancing-act'>Balancing Act this is for pelosi in the weeks ahead. Shes trying to get more than 4 Trillion in spending. Two separate packages, clear divisions over strategy within her caucus. Can she piece it together . She has about two weeks to figure it out. Theyre strategizing behind the scenes to figure it out. Complicating the picture is the fact that democrats only have a razor thin majority in the house. Well ve to see how she manages this. Manu, thank you. How worried are you about a similar scenario at your hospital . Well, we are worried about that. We certainly see the surge occurring in this region of texas in houston. And in Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/harris-county'>Harris County. Fortunately at texas Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/childrens-hospital'>Childrens Hospital, weve been anticipating and planning for this surge for weeks and months. And so our team is ready from a Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/bed-capacity-standpoint'>Bed Capacity Standpoint and a staffing standpoint. The surge the judge was talking about in dallas, its really occurring here in houston in Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/harris-county'>Harris County and austin as well. And so its very serious. Theres a limited number of Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/icu-bed'>Icu Beds available. We had a few discharges last night. We have a few vacancies in our pediicu. Its serious. The story you heard from the judge is true also in austin, san antonio, fortunately we do have some beds. PediHref='https://vimarsana.com/news/icu-bed'>Icu Beds at our hospital. Given the state, theyll fill up quickly. Youre urging the fda to approve the vaccine for kids as young as five. Why is this such an important step . Its really important to get everyone vaccinated ultimately in the united states, and weve been working really hard at getting 12 to 15yearolds vaccinated and 16 to 18yearolds vaccinated. We know that the fda will grant Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/emergency-authority'>Emergency Authority soon. Its under careful consideration by the texas Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/childrens-hospital'>Childrens Hospital. Weve been participating in the trials and in the studies. And submitting the data and the information. But as 5 to 11yearolds return to school, if theyre unmasked and unvaccinated, thats a formula for those children getting covid, ending up possibly at texas Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/childrens-hospital'>Childrens Hospital. Maybe even one of our icus. We want to prevent that. And so the best defense against covid19 whether its for children or adults or adolescents is everybody needs to get vaccinated, and then we need to wear masks also. But the reality is it hasnt been approved for kids under 12. What is your reaction to the battle in the state over kids and masking in schools . Well, we want to do whats right and whats in the best interest of Public Health for children, and asless ends. And we think requiring that children as they return to school as well as asldolescents wear masks, we think that makes sense. While we have low Vaccination Rates in Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/harris-county'>Harris County, the vaccination is only about 26 , but we think its important that as children as adolescents, teenagers return to school, they need to be wearing a mask. If not, the surge that were seeing today is going to get worse. Its going to exacerbate. Were going to see more cases and were going to see more adolescents and children end up in our Emergency Rooms and our beds and pediicus. We dont want that. And a tool to fight that is the vaccines. I want to ask you the fda has said that theyre waiting for the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/emergency-authorization'>Emergency Authorization for kids under 12 because theyre still doing the clinical trials and there has to be a certain amount of time. What do you say to that . Well, weve been participating in the clinical trials and just recently we submitted additional data to the fda, regarding the experience of the trials that were participating in. They need to expedite this as much as possible. And i know that they are. But were heading toward a disaster in so many regions of the united states, particularly the southern region, and even in the state of texas. As quickly as possible, as kids are returning to school in that age range, 5 to 11, we need to be able to get them vaccinated tHrough the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/emergency-authority'>Emergency Authority. And because of that, thats where all the planning took place, and again, the recruiting that eventually led to our 9 11 attack. And if you look at the territory that the taliban is taking over, its regaining much of the territory that was lost to them when the united states showed up. And now the way this was laid out is just imposing panic i among people that we in the united states said women of afghanistan, if you come out and participate in society, youll make afghanistan better, it will be more stable, and well be here to protect you. We walked away from all of that. Thats what youre seeing, the panic. The reason the troops are protecting the evacuation is because theyre afraid of the taliban overrunning the airports. This is not going to be pretty, and i really hope they adjust their schedule here pretty quickly if theyre going to get ahead of this really huge, humanitarian crisis in the making. Yeah. You know, colonel, you cant ignore the fact that the u. S. Has been drawing down troops that have been stationed in afghanistan, and now were sending in troops to help with the evacuation of personnel on the ground in the u. S. Embassy. Yesterday we reported the time frame for the collapse is 30 to 60 days. That seems optimistic. How long before the taliban could capture the capitol . I think its going to be within 15 days. Maybe even less. And thats going to be a significant factor when it comes to not only planning for the troops that were sending there but its also going to be a significant factor for all the afghan translators who served us so well for the most part during the last 20 years. Its going to be chaos as Congressman Rogers mentioned. And i want to talk about the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/pentagon-scene'>Pentagon Scene the u. S. Helped Raise A Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/army-and-police'>Army And Police force that number over 300,000 in afghanistan. The question is why arent the Afghan Forces better able to effectively combat the taliban . And this is one of my personal pet peeves. I get that statement. The u. S. When they show up in a country like afghanistan who has very poor educational Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/system-and-training'>System And Training has a really long road to go to get a professional military. So what the u. S. Military affords is troops when were there and training them and participating in missions with our Special Forces and many times with their special force, it gives them command and control. We give them logistics and med ivac. All the things you need to be successful on the battle field. Including taking losses and knowing theyre picked up off the battle field. Important to a fighting army. We basically said yep, weve got our Special Forces trained. By the way, they are courageous fighters in afghanistan today. We even have cases where theyre running out of ammunition fighting the bad guys, and they are executed by the taliban. These people are fighting. But without that support, logistics and other things, theyre collapsing sooner than later. And what happens is it feeds on itself. Once that one unit goes, everybody understands guess what, nobody is bringing us the beans and bullets. Nobody is evacuating us. Were here on our own. It kind of feeds on itself on the psyche of the battle field. Its not just interpreters. Afghans who participated in what would be a democracy in kabul, you know, is poor some days as it looks will also be treated the way youre seeing civilians treated all over the country today. Girls wont be allowed to go to school. Thats what they said. Thats what theyre practicing in areas where they are. Women who have participated, including members of parliament, you can only imagine whats going to happen to them. Theyve been gouging eyes and cutting ears. This is not a polite conversation to be having. The taliban is not acting that way. And we have a responsibility to the people that weve told that were going to get tHrough this, to get tHrough this. And were not. We have turned our back, and this saddens me and maddens me more than anything ive seen in the last 20 years aside from the Terrorist Attacks on the united states on how the united states is reacting. We should all be ashamed of what were doing in afghanistan today. Colonel, i want to bring you in to get your thoughts on this. Mike pompeo says president bidens weak leadership has fuelled this crisis. House republican lead leader Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/kevin-mccarthy'>Kevin Mccarthy says the president botched the process and owes the public answers. I spoke to one senior biden Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/administration-official'>Administration Official who said to me Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/president-trump'>President Trump was president for four years. If he thought he could safely draw down troops, he had the opportunity to do that. So what were the other options here . What would Donald Trump have done differently . Well, i think you have to go back to not only Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/president-trump'>President Trump but also Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/president-obama'>President Obama in this case. One option would have been to declare victory after Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/bin-laden'>Bin Laden had been killed and just change the nature of the mission and not make it a Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/war-mission'>War Mission but a train and equip mission. That could have changed the nomen nomenclature. We would have had continued to have a presence there under that kind of a situation. The other thing that could have happened is a much tougher stance in the negotiations. The negotiations going on in qatar are a continuation of the negotiations that we had under the trump administration. That administration reached an agreement with the taliban is that is unenforceable, and its clear that the agreement that was reached which the biden administration is trying to follow is one which the taliban is going to break. And thats one of the areas where we really have to be very careful what we do diplomatically, because what it does is really destroys the efforts of the military over the past 20 years. Thats not a good look at all for the united states. All right thank you both for your thoughts on the unfolding issues in afghanistan. Scorching temperatures burning a hole in your wallet . Challengers can now ask the Appellate Court to rule in their favor. And we have some Breaking News out of the cdc now, and a panel of cdc advisors now recommending some people who have weakened Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune Systems should get an additional or third covid19 vaccine dose. Cnn chief medical correspondent Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/sanjay-gupta'>Sanjay Gupta joins us now. How significant is this, sanjay . Well, its significant because i think for people who have had these types of conditions, the concern has been for some time that they did not have the same level of protection from these vaccines and others and theyre more at risk because they have a weakened Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune System. So, thats been a problem. Pamela, as you know, we talked about this yesterday, if you are a immunocompromised person who received the vaccine versus someone with a healthy Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune System who received the vaccine, the immunocompromised folks were almost 500 times more likely to end up in the hospital so this is a population of people that they were talking about for some time and if you look at hospitalizations overall and say, who are the covid patients in the hospital . Mostly unvaccinated, as we know, but as far as the vaccinated goes, they were more likely to be immunocompromised. You could see some of the statistics here in the data that they were looking at. They knew that, again, of the breaktHrough infections, many of them were occurring in immunocompromised people. Lower Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/vaccine-effectiveness'>Vaccine Effectiveness overall, given that so many more people are being hospitalized, and really trying to figure out how much the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/vaccine-efficacy'>Vaccine Efficacy dropped for them versus The General population. You can see as low as 59 if you have an immunocompromised condition versus up to 94 protection in The General population. So, for all these reasons, i think this is a big deal for them. Couple of specifics here, because these come up. They did define a little bit more clearly what theyre calling immunocompromised. Moderate and severe immunocompromised and if we have the list, we can put it up, but people who have had organ transplants, people who have recently or currently are taking chemotherapy for cancer, people who may take other types of medications which suppress their Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune System. If you are immunocompromised, you probably know it, but that list will be available so you can cross check. But not things like Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/heart-disease'>Heart Disease and diabetes. Sometimes those are thought of as conditions that can compromise your Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune System. But this committee said, no, were talking about severe or at least moderately severe immunocompromised. So, why wouldnt this include those people with Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/heart-disease'>Heart Disease or other issues that would lower the effectiveness of their Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune System . And just to be clear, this doesnt impact people with Autoimmune Diseases, correct . I get that question a lot from viewers. Well, second question first. It may affect people with Autoimmune Disease if they are on a class of medications that theyve listed here and i dont know if we have it but we can put it up. If not, its going to be on our website. But types of steroids may lower your Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune System. There are certain medications known as tnf blockers. Again, people who take these medications are going to know this very well, but they are told when they are prescribed these medications, oftentimes as you point out for autoimmune conditions, they are told this medication will dampen your Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune System. With autoimmune, the point is your Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune System may be overreacting so you take medications to slow down that reaction but that may affect your ability to respond to the vaccine. So they may be included. As far as Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/heart-disease'>Heart Disease and diabetes, i think the way to look at it is this. Certainly that makes people more vulnerable but what theyre focusing on here is if someone had a weak enough Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/immune-system'>Immune System that they werent generating aekds in the first place to the first two shots, so werent generating enough antibodies, thats who theyre really focused on. Its not to say that there arent other vulnerable populations either because of disease or age, as you well know, but at this time, theyre saying, this is who were most concerned about, people who could not generate enough protection from the vaccine in the first place.
