In order to go inside . Do any Fun Activity . I have to prove that im vaccinated. So i do not put the Publics Health at reese. To me, that is sensible. I think it is important that we maximize people fundamental rights. For autonomy. I do not think anybody should forced to have a substance injected into their body. But nobody has a constitutional right to go to a Yankees Game . Or eat inside a restaurant. Drawing lines around those spaces those nonessential but pleasurable experiences. To see the degree at so many other folks in our community have just said we do know care. We do not care if we get our neighbors sick. It is a level of selfishness. It should make us angry. To start school with the Mask Mandate. And to reevaluate it based on current conditions from august 17th. We thought it was the best decision based on medical information, local medical information. What about the threats that you just heard me read from Governor Desantis . Well, i do not know how legal it is. Will our decision was made before the threat came down. I still stand by the vote that i took on august third. As an elected official, i have the responsibility of providing a safe, Learning And Work environment for our students and staff. Having face coverings and encouraging those eligible to be vaccinated. It is the best way for our School District to operate at this particular time. You keep saying our School District. One of the things that we often hear from some office holders, is that there should be local control. You should be able to make your own decisions at the local level of what is right for you. Does that seem to be what Governor Desantis is allowing here . You know, i think Governor Desantis is in french and upon the local authority that is granted to local School Board members. And the florida constitution. And i think that it is ironic. Normally it is said by them that they want to be able to make decisions closer to the people that are impacted. In this case it is been an aboutface and an Aboutface Turn on that. I have a couple of 14 year old boys and going in tonight great they are vaccinated, thankfully. But they did not like wearing masks. You know how much kids hate wearing masks. Well, weve heard some complaints about it. That we had good compliance last School Year and we are hoping for the same. I think the students understand this is a minor inconvenience for us to move forward. As well as the adults on our campus. He was scheduled on August 4th but it was pushed back to the hospital would not have a recovery bad for him because of the surge in covid patients. He is here to talk about this. Michael, this is serious. This surgery is critical for you. Can you tell us just how important and needed this is . Well, i have cancerous Lymph Nodes here in my neck. I can feel them with my fingers. I needed them taken out it has been six months since the first symptom appeared. So basically i have untreated, deadly cancer. And i shouldve been able to have surgery this last wednesday. On August 4th but i could not. It is very scary. I am hoping to get it next week but there are no guarantees. When you heard there was not going to be a recovery bad for you, this is largely unvaccinated individuals. Who are filling these beds. If they had the choice to get vaccinated . On a personal level, i was depressed. Because i think that i adjusted mentally to my cancer and the treatment that i needed. But when i cannot get treatment that was the hardest thing. As for the unvaccinated . I hope that Hearing Stories like mine. And knowing there are people in everybodys lives going through something similar. Might if could impact if they are waiving or move them towards getting a shot. And i hope that in the tuitions that can help all of us. Think about mandates, consider us as well. Right . I do not want to shame anybody. I do not want to express any anger on anybody. I just want people to not get sick. I am already sick. I need to go into the hospital and get the surgery. When the hospital beds are all taken up by people with covid . And most all of them are unvaccinated. Yes, that prevents me from getting my surgery. But mostly i do not want people to get sick. And the way to avoid that is to get vaccinated. You are looking to have the surgery pushed back until august 18th. That is two weeks later that was recommended for removing the cancerous Lymph Nodes that are in your neck. Do you worry that could get further pushed back . What is two Weeks Delay mean for you . I have been told that there is no guarantee that i will have the surgery next week. I am on pins and needles this week. And until they checked me into the hospital to make sure it is not cancer again cancel again. But my wife and i have talked about some possibilities but the reality is that we do not have a plan b. I have a time on in my neck. I feel fine now. But you always know that with cancer, early detection matters. That is because early treatment matters. I am not getting early treatment. In any early in any given day it can spread to my other parts of my body and cause other problems. I am living with a timebomb and letting it ticked down because im not getting any treatment. These are huge numbers. Especially when you put into the context of what is going on in those states. If you look at these states . These are not necessarily states that have a lot of folks, vaccinated. This is the eligible population. You see that most arkansas is at 58 . And go down to mississippi . 50 . People fully vaccinated . All in the 40s. You are looking at these sec programs. They are well above the people that are eligible in those states. Would let me take it one step further. Look at the young adults select states. We do not have arkansas. But look at this these are select, southern states. These are young people just like the people in the football program. Look at that. 28 , alabama. 38 in georgia. And 30 in mississippi. These College Programs are far more vaccinated than the people. They are far are running it. They think they might have to forfeit some games with the Football Coaches are getting their layers vaccinated. It is a great sign of what we are seeing. I am hopeful that some of the fans will see that their players are getting vaccinated. You know maybe i should also get vaccinated. You are talking about the nfl. It is more near and dear to my heart. Im a huge Buffalo Bills fan. And i want those players vaccinated because i would ever be on The Field and i do not want them to miss a game. You talk with the nfl. Players with one dose, 90 . Over 95 vaccinated. The teams at the lowest is only 70 . I believe that is minnesota. But even if you look at the lowest Team Vaccination . That is much more than what we would normally see four young men. What we are seeing at the College Level and the nfl level. The idea that you could forfeit games . It is getting players vaccinated. It has been a good, 10 days. I think that for us. We had a few that needed to be vaccinated. The coach in a Step Today fantastic job. Talking with the team. Obviously, everybody has different opinions. About the vaccine but they want to do different things. But i feel that we did a good job as a department. We brought in a lot of experts to talk to student athletes. The coach and his staff did also a good job of hammering at home at The End. And we are proud of 100 . We hope that will bode well for the season. Do you think that this wouldve been possible . Or how possible had this had been of the consequence of having to forfeit games . If you did not get vaccinated . I think that is certainly playing a big part of this. You know, last year we look at the season. We had some weeks we could play some make up games. And this year, the Sec May demanded that we are not going to do that. We are going to try to get everybody vaccinated. And get through this season without disruption. Were not going to build in those makeup weeks. That is a big part of it. Our guys want to play. They want to be healthy and they do not want to be the reason to cause their teammate to miss games and those types of things. A lot of credit to our young men, staff. Really everybody in our Football Building for doing the right thing. We are hoping that will make for a great season this year. You know, it is pretty interesting. Trying to extrapolate that over society. Consequences. If there are direct consequences they can make a difference. If people are not willing to make a medical decision because they think that it could make them or their Loved Ones healthier . Maybe consequences can make a bigger difference . Yes but in our case. Certainly having that in the background was a big part of the decision. I think we did a good job. We had a panel last week. 4, five doctors that came in and provided some factual information. Obviously there is a lot of information out there that is not right, or whatever. We did that. So having that consequence. And that if we could miss a game if we are not fully vaccinated. If that happens . We are going to have to forfeit that game. There is no makeup. It was part of the decision, obviously. But the totality of the education. Again, the Coaching Staff did a really nice job. Each individual player. Speaking to parents, guardians. Those types of things for these very, personal decisions. It has been very good. And hopefully we will see some positive results. Coach, you do not need to sugarcoat it, it is great if you have 100 Vaccination Rate. It is phenomenal. It is astounding. It is nearly better than any other case that ive seen in the country. With us about anything. It makes you wonder. Football is so important, obviously. And two other fans. For us, we would never do that. We certainly know it is a personal decision for folks. But we felt that in our program that is something that is important. Obviously, those guys are around Each Other each and every day. I want to make sure they are doing the best by their teammate, coaches. And trying to do what is best for our programming. He was a field training officer, so he helped train the new officers. And that really is something he loved to do. He loved to train them and help them and guide them, be the best Police Officer they could be. He would stray late, i mean almost every day, he was late Coming Home from work. He really, really enjoyed his job. He enjoyed helping people. He just wanted to be out there and do whatever he could for our community. He did so much Community Service with noahs school.
