The president didnt outright say it this morning, but he did hint more action is coming. No question about it. I think this is such a clear window into just the level of concern inside the White House, inside the administration, about the surge that can grip the entire country at this point in time. We are told according to sources familiar with the conversations there are early stage discussions about whether or not they can utilize some of the federal governments powers as it pertains to regulations or funding to leverage entitieses, notably longterm care facilities to force vaccinations, to stick to some of the carrots in the approaches. What this is, its not a final decision but underscores how the administration is trying to figure out any way possible to ramp up vaccinations. It has been a clear message of theirs for the better part of the last several months, but right now, it is just so clear that more needs to be done, more needs to be done and fast. Its something the president alluded to. I put in place new incentives and requirements to encourage vaccinations. There will be more to come in the days ahead. I think the facts are that this virus is harmful and this virus is going to be a risk, not only to children, but to their parents. It is really incumbent on all adults to protect children by becoming vaccinated and creating this zone of protection around them. Masks are simply a tool, but we have these vaccinations by the way, the vaccinations are not miracles. Ive heard people describe them as miracles. These natvaccinations are the result of hard, diligent, dedicated scientists who have worked almost 20 years to bring these vaccines to us. So the best way to protect our children is for all the adults surrounding them to get vaccinated, such that our children are then protected. Just to be clear, though, masks are not dangerous for children, correct . Yeah. Masks are not dangerous. Simply, you know, we have something thats covering the Nose And Mouth and people are able to breathe and so as far as danger, these are not dangerous things to add to, you know, any part of our attire. Should america be taking action now . Yeah. I think i agree with the direction that america is going in, in that we are still really trying to get first doses into people. If we could get first doses into people and get the majority of our population to that immune state, we could certainly begin to stem the tide. I think boosters, when you talk about boosters, we have to think about the immunocompromised, people who have cancer, chemotherapeutic agents, transplant patients, Organ Transplant patients. Ha we dont know even though these patients may receive the full dose of the vaccine, we really dont know if they reach full immunity because their Immune Systems are suppressed and those particular patients might benefit, especially from a third dose at this point. I mean, people are not just my employees, were all kind of like family here. Were a small business. I believe that i it shouldnt be on me to have to mandate this of my employees. I actually take offense to that. This is not something that you or me or the Pizza Shop should be mandating to workers who are just trying to feed their families. Im not really very happy about the way the government is handling this whole thing. At the same time, its just it becomes a question of what is the mindset of the people who work for me. Right. Its more advantageous for them to get the vaccine because theyre at higher risks of having serious effects if they get covid and other complications related to their pregnants, but youre Hearing Conspiracy theories from what i understand. Can you talk about what youre being told about why people are worried about getting vaccinated . You hear everything running the gamut from Bill Gates is putting microchips in it so that they can track you. I mean theres a lot of ridiculous things. People talk about movies that theyve done or things that theyve read on the internet, Social Media has been like the absolute worst part of this entire thing. It happens on both sides. Its not just the people who dont want to be vaccinated. Theres also the people who are vaccinated who resent the people that dont want to be vaccinated and theres becoming more and more of a call for the them versus us type of thing and thats what really frightens me, is that this entire scenario is going to play out something similar to, you know, 1939 germany. Okay. What this country does not need any more divisiveness between the right and left, vaccinated and unvaccinated. Its a bad thing. People who are unvaccinated, you know, they really dont get why people are angry with them and theyre digging in their heels and saying, well i dont care why they are angry at me im not doing it. In this country, this is something that, particularly in the last year, when people say im not doing something, you know, we are enabling their right to free speech. This is a matter of public health. Its not a matter of your opinion. Right and so you obviously care about your employees and talk about it being very much like a family in your business. 100 . And so you hear people saying things that just arent true. But yet dont want to be told what to do. So how do you handle it when you hear these Conspiracy Theories that are holding them back . What do you say . Well, i mean, you know, first of all i have a logical conversation with them. You know, i dont know where you got that from, okay, but, you know, thats absolutely not true. Even if you talk about the number of Breakthrough Vaccinations for people who are vaccinated, people have a tendency to jump on to well, even if you got vaccinated you can still get it. Look at all those people in massachusetts that got vaccinated and they all got covid. You know, where are you hearing this from . And, you know, theyll actually pull up stuff on their phone from websites that give out information thats erroneous. Right. This is the kind of information thats being pushed out there and people are believing that more than theyre believing what the cdc is saying or the government is saying, what the president is saying, because they dont trust the cdc, they dont trust the president. Theres a lot of reasons for that. A lot of reasons for that. So john, if these people dont get vaccinated, ultimately what are you planning to do . Will they still be able to keep their jobs . Im still trying to figure that out. Fortunately i only have to think about six people. I just hired three this week and all three of them have to come in with proof of vaccination on the day that they start otherwise theyre not starting. Im not adding to that problem. I have six people here. Okay. As i said before, one of them is breastfeeding. Im not going to fire a person who is breastfeeding and tell her she Cant Feed her family, okay. Thats not right. Okay. And i shouldnt Be The One that has to make these difficult decisions while politicians sit behind desks and talk about this what were trying to do because theyre trying to thread the needle. I understand, they didnt want to shut anything down again and i completely agree with that, okay, its a difficult situation, but you brought up something before about the science says that its not going to affect the ability of a woman to conceive or a woman who is breastfeeding and, you know, i think that there needs to be more said about that. I think that the cdc needs to come out with that. The government needs to do commercials about that and there needs to be stuff on television that says, some people are concerned about this, this is not true. This is why. And they should be doing that. It shouldnt be up to me and other small businesses and people who are trying to eek out a living here and create jobs to bring that message home. Thats not what were here to do. Thats what elected officials are supposed to be doing and thats what they need to step up and do. Well, thank goodness youre doing it too. You point out that some of these people dont trust the elected officials and government. So its important that you have the relationship. The New York Governor is facing growing legal trouble in the wake of that damming investigation that found he sexually harassed at least 11 women. Now, one of them, a former staffer who accused Andrew Cuomo of groping her, has filed a criminal complaint. Cnn crime and Justice Correspondent Show Shimon Prokupecz joins us. Were told the woman went to the sheriff in albany on thursday and filed this criminal complaint. This is the first criminal complaint we know of that has been filed against the governor. It means the likelihood, the potential that the governor could face criminal charges, has grown. It certainly is significant that the woman filed this complaint, theres been a lot of questions about whether or not she would cooperate in a criminal investigation, and that is likely whats going on now. As to what the governor is accused of doing to this woman, investigators have referred to her as executive Assistant Number one. The Attorney General talked about her in the report that they filed and one of those investigators who the Attorney General charged with investigating this case spoke about those allegations in the Press Conference on tuesday and heres what she said. On november 16th, 2020, in the executive mansion, the governor hugged executive Assistant Number one and reached under her blouse to grab her breast. This was the culmination of a pattern of inappropriate sexual conduct, including numerous close and intimate hugs where the governor held her so closely you that her breasts were pressed against his body and he sometimes ran his hands up and down her back while he did so.
