It could make other employers and businesses say now i feel comfortable requiring people to have the vaccine. Lets take a listen to dr. Fauci. I think there are a certain proportion of people who are just waiting for that full approval, even though the data are overwhelming right now that these vaccines are highly effective and are safe. The other thing, its going to allow independent local enterprises, universities, colleges, businesses, who will feel much more comfortable when they say im going to mandate that, if you want to come to this school, if you want to work in this place, youve got to be vaccinated. Its unclear exactly what difference full approval would mean to those who have not wanted to get a vaccine. Kaiser Family Foundation has some data that 3 of 10 vaccine hesitant people say full approval will make a difference. They will vote with their sleeves, and they will roll them up hopefully if that does make a difference. Anything that moves the dial really. Tell us what the data is showing us about an increase in covid infections among children. Yes. I think throughout this pandemic, a lot of people thought children, its not a big deal for them. These numbers are pretty striking about how much more often children are getting infected. Lets look at the data from the american academy of pediatrics. When they looked July 22nd through 29th, one week, 70,726 new cases. That was up 84 from the previous week. Thats a lot in one week, a huge jump. Five times as many cases as The End of june. The vast majority of those children dont end up in the hospital. From the descriptions were hearing of children getting the Virus, even when they dont get so sick that they go in the hospital, theyre home and many are suffering very high temperatures, hacking coughs. Were hearing of children having longterm effects from covid19 even if they werent all that sick to begin with. We have 15 or 20 people, they will not come and say youre the victim of misinformation. So as a result what we have is a group of people who have misinformation they think is equivalent to vaccination. Thats not the case. So were actually getting better, but its because were aggressively going against this Misinformation Campaign and trying to help our patients again. Its a national problem, really international. A lot of outside players coming in helping to stoke this. What is it doing to the staff of your hospital . The numbers were talking about now, these surges seem very similar to what we thought was behind us. The worst of the pandemic a number of months ago. Our staff is tired, but theyre compassionate and theyre committed. We were able to get relief from a Decision Isaster Management t. Weve become much more aggressive as a Hospital System in trying to get out to our patients and saying please call us, please talk to us. We want to protect you. We want to get you a vaccine. Weve seen that work in some instances. I will be very honest, our team is tired. Theres no other way to say that. Theyre looking at for us here in louisiana, there are times when theyre not going to be at the Dinner Table again. Thats okay because were committed to it its a challenge for them. How concerned should we be . When we see these spikes, this is the summertime. Typically the best conditions for a Virus are winter time, et cetera. How concerned should we be that were seeing winterlike numbers in the midst of the summer, and what does that mean going forward . Here is how concerned you should be. We have 175 patients in our hospital. If youre a Hospital Administrator in the united states, that is a frightening number. It would overwhelm over 25 of the hospitals in this country. As a result, it means that were impacting other diseases, stroke, sepsis, Heart Attack require time to diagnosis and a bed available and a place to put them. We dont have a place to put them, and we are saying no for the first times in our careers. We dont like it. But when we get calls from colleagues who are desperate for help, were having to say we dont have a place for you. We need to recognize that, if your community is not here in louisiana and youre less than 40 , delta is coming, get out to your community, make that number higher, because you will not be able to handle this number of patients, winter, summer, spring, fall. You have called, as many democrats have, for the governor to resign. He is refusing to do so. If he does not resign, should he be impeached and removed from office . Yes, he should. I want to say i have been calling for the governor to resign since the early part of the spring for many different reasons, including because he has fostered and upheld a toxic Work Environment, but also the way he handled the nursing home crisis. The attorney generals report confirmed what many of us knew to be true. There are violations of federal and state law. It is in the governors best interest to resign, and i hope le will resign. I hope hes listening to the chorus of voices from across the country. I dont think he will resign. What that then means is we have to begin Impeachment Proceedings which are proceedings that be anyone in the New York State Assembly. How quickly might those move to a vote . We could do that as early as today. In New York state, the Impeachment Process begins with the assembly. They have to draft something called the articles of impeachment. This is followed by the New York State Assembly who has to vote by a majority of members to initiate the Impeachment Process via resolution. Once that happens, the governor is required to step away from his duties as the State Senate then conducts an impeachment trial. If the assembly actually did this today and delivered the Impeachment Articles to us in the senate today, the governor would be required to step aside. Can he do his job in light of this report and what it found . The governor is not fit to do his job, unfortunately, for the city of New York. Why that matters, we have a lot of federal funds and State Funds that need to go out the door to a lot of New Yorkers who are in need. Unfortunately what weve seen in New York is this governor has also failed to do that. Its not just about the way he runs his office. Its that the way he runs his office is also something thats affecting negatively, impacting negatively, New Yorkers. Hes unable to govern. Let me ask you this. You worked with him for a number of years, and apologies if this is an uncomfortable question. I want to ask in your own personal experience, did you Witness Or Experience behavior as he is now accused of . I did not experience Sexual Harassment from the governor. What i can say is the Executive Chamber that the governor runs is a toxic Work Environment. That is something i absolutely experienced. Its almost impossible not to experience that. The office is designed to undermine staff, to destabilize staff. It is designed to make you secondguess yourself. Its what feels like a constant whiplash between praise and being valueless. It leads you to really wonder whether the bad behavior that happened to you really happened. Unfortunately, its part of just what is business as usual there. I felt so many emotions, one of them was sorrow, not just for Charlotte Bennett but the other victims. I think what many victims and survivors of sexual Abuse Feel is theyre being gaslit throughout their lives and being told that what we experienced is not what we experienced, but a miss exc miss excerptation. Hes trying to convince the public she cant be trusted. However, i know, as a survivor of Sexual Abuse and what im here to share is that when you are somebody who has experienced that and also you go through therapy, youre better to understand the patterns of Harassment And Abuse more clearly. They say its to harass the president and potentially embarrass him. As weve seen Donald Trump didnt pay taxes for a number of years. This committee is looking for six years of Tax Returns. They say as part of the oversight role, they should be able to look at how the irs handles that. The reason this will be a big Fight And One that will likely proceed for several more months now is because the big concern this committee could make these returns public. Donald trump and his lawyers have fought for years to try to prevent the President S Tax Returns from becoming public. What well see next here is that the judge will likely set up a Briefing Schedule. Then well see arguments and that will play out over the next several months. Donald trump has made an effort in multiple of these cases. There are other efforts by other House Committees to get Tax Returns and other records from his accounting firm. Those have been on hold. The president , of course, the former president has made a big effort to fight all these things including, of course, going to the Supreme Court twice to try to stop the manhattan d. In recent days has been conducting limited Air Strikes in support of afghan Security Forces on the ground. Do those forces, their commanders believe that u. S. Theyll take anything that they can get in this given moment, particularly in Lashkar Ga in helmand which has been overrun by taliban militants. Now we heard from the afghan military theyre going to launch a counteroffensive. They came out and urged any civilians who are living in houses under taliban control to immediately leave their homes. One is assuming that that counteroffensive will largely take shape in terms of Air Yall B arielle bombardment. One of the big strains that the afghan forces are feeling right now is that they dont have the contractors or labor in order to perform the basic maintenance that keeps these planes in the sky. So their own Air Force is under a tremendous amount of pressure. And even with those u. S. Air strikes coming in from outside, it might be enough to make a small difference in the short term or avert an outright catastrophe, but i dont think anyone sees this as a sustainable longterm strategy. The incident on the Weekend Flight from philadelphia to miami came as Flight Attendants across the country are grappling with a surge of unruly, violent passengers. Cnn Aviation Correspondent Pete Muntean joins me now. I experienced this on a flight last week and cops met the unruly passenger on the ground. Its a really big aboutface because there was push back after frontier suspended these Flight Attendants. Frontier airlines had this happen on a flight from philadelphia to miami. Miamidade police say a passenger on one of these flights essentially got drunk, took his shirt off, groped two Flight Attendants, and then a third Flight Attendant was assigned to watch him, and this happened. It gets really interesting and spicy here because, after all this happened, this passenger was duct taped to his seat. This tape its called restraint tape. Its in the kit for Flight Attendants to deal with flight emergencies. Frontier came out and said they were suspending this Flight Crew. Now it says they support the Flight Crew. 22yearold Maxwell Berry is charged with three counts of battery according to the Miamidade Police department. We reached out to him for comment, although hes not reached back up to us. 3,715 unruly passengers this year alone according to the faa. 100 in the last week. Only 99 initiated Enforcement Action by the faa. Flight attendants are celebrating this because this passenger has been brought to justice so quickly. Its straightup assault. Had to be alarming. Another issue, lots of cancellations, delays involving spirit airlines. A pretty big meltdown, the fourth day in a row where there have been a lot of issues with spirit. They blame the weather, operational issues. There are fuel shortages. Spirit airlines is dealing with a lot with its i. T. System as well.
