Space Rocket Science there that makes a lot of us optimistic about the possibility that more and more humans will get an opportunity to go to space. And that opens up all kinds of things that you could possibly not imagine right now. Yeah. It was interesting, miles, i spoke to Jeff Bezos just a couple of minutes ago when his brother and well have that tape shortly for you. But one of the things that we said is that it is better than he expected. He read a lot about what to expect, what it was going to be like. But it surpassed his expectations. He talk the a lot, too, about his vision for the future of Space Exploration and space colonization. I want to bring in mitchia kaku, a theoretical physicist. How likely is that vision of having a permanent settlement on moon or on mars, having the kind of Space Exploration, the kind of Human Presence in space that bezos and Elon Musk are talking about . Well the key factor that has not been mentioned yet, cost. The cost has been dropping like a rock in the last several decades. It used to be so expensive that 5 of the entire u. S. Federal budget went to at Polo Space Program back in 1966. That was unsustainable. Now prices have dropped tremendous, opening up space for the democratization of space. In the future Mom And Dad could take a journey into space. Because prices have dropped enormously. You know, with the coming of the railroads and the airplane, first you had the railroads used for freight, for the military, for large corporations. Then in the second era of the railroads, you have the fact that the elite could then ride the rails. Now were in the third phase where Mom And Dad can ride the rails. And so i think were following the same path as the railroad, same path taken by the airline industry. Were not talking about the democratization of Outer Space. Charles bolden, youre with us as well. Do you see that in the youngest member on board this craft was 18 years old. In his lifetime, do you see a permanent settlement on the moon . Anderson, i must i will say that i dont see permanent presence in terms of the same people staying for long periods of time on the moon. We need to pay attention to this planet. It is the only one that we have that could sustain life the way that we know it. So i think were going to be doing a lot of research and a lot of exploration on the moon and mars. I think well be on mars in the next decade. But permanent Human Presence for longterm, for individuals, i dont think that is in the cards. I hope not. Because that means weve really screwed up this planet. You think will be humans on mars by the next decade. By The End of the 2030s, that is the plan and it is not just the united states and our international partners but you look at what china is talking about. Everybody is talking about having humans in the martian and were on course to do that as was just mentioned by your guest. If government continues to put the money into it that is needed to allow the private sector to support us in the way that their beginning to do now. It is not going to be easy but i think it is something that we have on our Plan And Something we can accomplish. Charles, how much i mean are you excited, you know nasa very well. Are you excited by kind of these young people coming into aerospace industry, coming into interested in Space Exploration, coming up with innovative companies, the Company Relativity Building rockets using a 3d printer. Does that excite you in terms of the potential . Anderson, it blows me away. Because you know we use a term or i use a term called maskless launch and it means we use small rockets to get food stock, feedstock. It could be powder, metallic powders or ribbons or whatever, so we could use the 3d printers an the kind of streets that the young entrepreneurs are inventing now. We have three 3d printers on board the international Space Station that use three different types of feedstock. Were growing food on the international Space Station. We have people in israel who are doing research on what we call Bio Synthesis of food. We use some seed that we start things with and the next thing know you have a t bone stake. So im excited about that. As i said, i talked to Jeff Bezos just for a minute or two, a few minutes ago along with his brother mark. Here is what he said. How was it . Amazing. When you landed, you said best day ever. Best day ever. And i couldnt pick a best part. Could you pick a best part . I dont have the talent to put into words what we just experienced. Ill try. But i dont. Is it different than you thought it was going to be. My expectations were up here and they were exceeded. So Zero G was certainly different than i thought it was going to be. But it was surprisingly natural to move around in that environment which is not what i was anticipating. That is really true. It felt almost like we were even i know that is not possible. Do you want to spend more time floating around or looking out the window. It was probably looking out the window while i was upside down. The good news is you could do both at the same time. And we did toss some skittles to each other and catch them in our mouth and do the traditional Zero G stuff. The thing that was most different for me was the view of earth. That is the thing that i was surprised by. I read a lot about it. I read what astronauts have written about it. But it was more profound for me than i expected. We see this giant atmosphere that we live in and we think it is big when were here on the ground. You get up there, and it is so tiny, anderson. It is a small little thing and it is fragile and it gives you kind of drives home the point that we that we have to be careful with the earths atmosphere. But it makes it very powerful and real. Does this harden your commitment to Space Exploration . This is a huge part of my commitment to Space Exploration. What we need to do is build a road to space so that future generations could take all heavy industry and polluting industry on earth and move it up into space. So that we could keep this gem of a planet as it is and instead of ruining it, which unfortunately we might do. You talked about earth only being for residential living, light industry. Light industry. Exactly. So this is going to take many decades. And our job is to build that infrastructure to help that happen. But over time, it makes sense. We shouldnt be doing polluting things here. Weve sent robotic probes and this is the good one and there arent any other good ones and we should protect this one and the way you do that is by pushing our heavy industry out into space. And we could do that if we could operate space vehicles the same way we operate commercial airliners today. So that is what Blue Origin is about and the new Shepard Tourism Mission is about. The suborbital Tourism Mission lets us practice over and over and over so we could get good at it and then the program as an orbital vehicle that used all of the learnings to help Take That next step and build that road to space. Well congratulations, guys. Thank you, so fun. Thank you. That is Jeff Bezos and his mother mark. Im here with Kristin Fisher. People have been paying attention to this launch. It is gotten a lot of attention but they have a new rocket in new glenn that will be launched toward The End of 2022 and that is like 322 feet. Huge. And that rocket will go into Orbit And Orbit the earth which is what most people think about when they think about Space Travel and also what Elon Musk and spacex are already doing when they launch astronauts up into space and to the international Space Station with the dragon capsule. So clearly there is a ton of competition between the two of them. But we did just get a Congrat Lattory Tweet from Richard Branson who said well done, mark and wally and oliver and all the best. So that is from Richard Branson. There has been competition about who went higher. This rocket went higher than Richard Branson did, but Richard Branson was first. Yes. So the New Shepard pasted that Imaginary Demarkation of space. The Carmen Line at 62 miles. Were getting the technical techniques in. But they went up 66 miles an the Carmen Line at 62 and Virgin Galactic went to 53. That is above the earth which is what the u. S. Government recognizes as the boundary of space. But the blue Origin Team loves to say that hey, if you take a ride on a Virgin Galactic spaceship, will you have an asterisk beside your name, you are not fully a astronaut. To get customers to come on to space. Be they all get to see the curvature of the Earth And Experience weightlessness. With all of the hype, with all of the effort put into it, bezos has been created Blue Origin in 2000, it was under 11 minutes. Under 11 minutes. But you know, that is what this Rocket Ship was designed to do. With new glenn, as we were talking about, that is going to go much higher, much father actually into orbit and there are people that say why would i spend this much money for a 11minute Joy Ride and that is certainly a valid point. As Jeff Bezos was saying in your interview, this is all about building in that Muscle Memory into the the blue Origin Team so that they just make Space Flight really routine, very reliable so they could do all of the bigger stuff. It is slower than for Blue Origin than they had anticipated. They hoped to have this launch be i think in 2019 initially when they thought it might be able to take off. Theyve hodped to get a Nasa Contract for some 2 Billion and more to do a Lunar Lander for astronauts to get to mars in 2024. Excuse me. To the moon in 2024. That went to spacex. And now bezos is contesting that, the contract with the government accountability office. That is right. And this is definitely a blow for Blue Origin. They thought they had more time before nasa awarded this contract. And theyve been awarded like a prize for their model early on in the Bidding Process . They had. And so there is a chance that nasa is going to open this up, congress in particular, really looking at the possibility of wanting nasa to fund a secondary Lunar Lander for the artemis program. And spacex and Blue Origin have been competitors starting from the beginning starting with the wellknown Launch Pad at cape canaveral, Launch Pad where the Apollo 11 astronauts launched from, the Launch Pad, the shuttle launch, that went to spacex and Elon Musk and these two billionaires have been duking it out ever since. I wand to bring in miles. That competition that kristin is talking about, that is one of frankly the advantages of having private companies, having Tunnel Companies putting money into space. Theyre bringing ultimately that competition should bring prices down . That is the Free Market in a nutshell, isnt it, anderson . It is been portrayed in the narrative that has come across and we in the media have played into it because it is entertaining, the billionaires race. But there is plenty of room for expanding into space, for the Space Economy to flourish and for all of the competitors to do well. So it is not like theyre duking it out for seats and reservations. A little bit of Bragging Rights and Richard Branson said it wasnt a race but promptly scheduled himself before bezos flew today. But there is some of that. At the bottom of the ledger, while some would say it seems like just billionaires playing with toys, you have to look at the bigger picture. Literally much bigger picture and beyond the planet to really understand where this all fits. Charles, as a former administrator of nasa, how do you see the competition from the companies, from spacex, from Blue Origin and others . Anderson, i dont really look at it as a competition. I think the important Thing Today was exactly what Jeff Bezos said to you in his interview. You know, the fact that the big thing is to take care of this planet. He made a statement that this is the only one. And so people who talk about colonizing the moon and colonizing mars as an alternative to earth. Jeff bezos made it very clear, this is The One planet that could on which life could be sustained. While it looks like a race, i think he and Richard Branson and Elon Musk talk about trying to improve life on this planet by moving the toxic things away and doing things that are heavy machinery and the like in space. And that is the i think that is the road on which were charting right now. Yeah. Kristin fisher and i will be back. Were going to take a short break. Were expecting a Press Conference from Jeff Bezos and all of the members of the crew who were in space today. Well take a short break and well be right back. Im here with Kristin Fisher since early this morning watching the preparations and the remarkable launch and successful it is incredible to see that Split Screen Shot of the Rocket Booster which had returned to earth, landed vertically which is a huge accomplishment and the capsule had also safely returned to earth, both reusable and both symbols of this new age of space. A fully reusable rocket system. This one of course only suborbital. Spacex doing the orbital ones. But i mean, what i just keep thi thinking about the fact this had never been done a few year ago and now Blue Origin able to do this over and over again, 15 times consecutively. It is just an incredible accomplishment. And then you also think about the capsule and the redundancy that it has, providing the safety for the astronauts. So really just on a technical side of things, Blue Origin has to be very pleased today and im sure well hear a lot about that in the Press Conference. And charles bolden, you have had four missions as commander and also pilot of Space Shuttles in addition to be the former nasa administrator. Can you just talk a little bit about what the folks on Board Today experienced as they, you know, rocketed off the earth going from zero to more than 2,000 miles per hour in a very short in a matter of, you know, seconds. Anderson, as you heard when you talked to Jeff Bezos, he used the two senses that i always use when im trying to talk to kids. The sense of feel, feeling the g, the acceleration as you lift off from the Launch Pad and feel yourself pressed back in your seat just a little bit and moments later youre weightless and floating around the cabin and coming back down to the planet had when gravity starts to pick you back up again after youve been strapped back in. That is the sense of feel. The one that is mindboggling and jeff kept referring to it is the sense of sight. Seeing our planet from that Vantage Point in a way that changed your life to be quite honest. Because it gives you a view of earth than less than 600 people on plantet have ever seen. And i think Jeffs Brother Market mentioned the fact that he thought of our atmosphere as being this massive thing until he got to space and he looked back and found out that it is really tiny. And weve got to take care of it. And i think that is what jeff and mark were talking about this morning. It is incumbent upon us as Human Beings to take care of the planet, to make sure that we take care of the environment because it is not a planet that is fragile, it is us, the human species. If we want to continue to survive, we have to do better about taking care of this planet. Matchia, what do you think is the next step for Space Exploration . Obviously you have spacex, which is going to be launching i think in september. Mmhmm. And there is Blue Origin has the new glenn. What do you see as kind of the next major milestone . Well several milestones are coming. First of all, we sometimes forget the fact that this Space Race of the 1960s gave birth to the microchip. The military commerce, they needed to miniaturize big computers to be as small as possible and that created the microchip which is now the basis of the world economy. So i think this could race, it is not just a race between billionaires trying to figure out who has the biggest Rocket Ship. No, this competition is going to generate new technologies in the form of Artificial Intelligence. This rocket here, the New Shepard rocket, was fully automated. Fully automated. And in the future were going to have robots, artificially intelligent systems to aid our astronauts as they build bases on the moon and mars. Who is going to do the heavy lifting . Who is going to do all of the dangerous chores in Outer Space on mars and the moon . That is where Artificial Intelligence comes into the picture. So i think in the same that the Space Race stimulated the microchip, which in turn gave birth to the modern economy, i think this new rivalry between the billionaires will force them to adopt more and more intelligent systems as we colonize the moon and we go on to mars. And kristen, Blue Origin is already working with the military . They are. Theyre trying to help right now, the unite the Launch Alliance with the vulcan rocket. It is a huge engine and the reason it is so important is because this engine is going to end the united States Reliance on russian rd 180 engines. Weve been paying the russians millions of determine to launch our own Spy Satellites into orbit. Which we then use, most likely, to spy on the russians. And on top of that, ill wait as this helicopter goes by. On top of that, for ten years almost nasa was paying the russians about 90 Million a seat to take u. S. Astronauts up to their own international Space Station. 90 Million a seat . 90 Million a seat. So thanks to spacex, they no longer have to do that. But it is really just remarkable how far in the last few years the u. S. Has come to ending its reliance on the russians. Were going to take a short break. But were also following news on the coronavirus pandemic. Cdc director dr. Rochelle walensky is testifying on Capitol Hill right now and i want to play what she just said about that highly contagious Delta Variant spreading across the country. The Delta Variant now represents 83 of sequenced cases. This is a dramatic increase from, up from 50 of the week of july 3rd. In some parts of the country, the percentage is even higher. Particularly in areas of low vaccination rates. The country is now averaging nearly 35,000 new cases per day and an increase of nearly 50 from last week. In cases arising in 44 states and up sharply in 20 states. Hospitalizations are also on the rise. Almost exclusively among unvaccinated people. Walensky is reiterating as well the importance of wearing masks, particularly for children who arent yet able to get the vaccine. Just yesterday, the American Academy Of Pediatrics released new recommendations saying that everyone over the age of two should wear masks in schools even if they are vaccinated. And joining me right now is dr. Lee beers, the president of American Academy Of Pediatrics. Doctor, thank you so much for being here. I saw this announcement yesterday. As it should, it always gets a lot of attention when the aap puts something out. What got to the point where you wanted to come out with this recommendation . Well thank you so much for asking. And i think the first thing i want to emphasize is that really all through the pandemic the a. P. Has had guidance for Safe Return To Schools and safe inperson schooling. And with all of the guidance related to coronavirus, every 30 days we review it and see if there is new or updated guidance that we need to put out and in this case we knew that as many things are and you pointed out dr. Walensky was sharing the spread of the Delta Variant, the situation around the pandemic is ever evolving. We know schools are getting ready to go back to Inperson Learning. So there was new information for us to update. I think one of things that i really want to emphasize here is that our guidance really emphasizes that it is so important for students to get back to Inperson Learning in the classroom. It is so essential for their Health And Development and this guidance really just lays out a way for us to do that and do that safely. And i do want to get to that specifically, getting them back in class in just one second. But there is a Cnn Analysis that nine states prohibit schools from requiring masks. And based on of your recommendations, i wonder what your message is as a doctor, as a pediatrician, to the governors of those states . Yeah, i think, you know, most importantly we all want our kids back in school. We want them learning. We want them safe. And we have a lot of tools at our disposal to do that. Universal masks in schools is a really important way for us to do that and i hope that everyone does this voluntarily, just recognizing that there are children in school younger than 12 who dont have access to a vaccine. There are there are children and adults and teens and adults who are unvaccinated and this is the way to help keep everyone safe and make sure that our kids are if school and that theyre learning and that theyre able to be with their friends and doing all of the things that are so helpful for their Health And Development. And we do not expect Approval Authorization for a vaccine for kids under 12 to come, the expectation now is into winter of this year. As a doctor and pediatrician, how worried are you about the Delta Variant for children . Yeah, i think really concerning, actually. And i think were hearing youve heard the reports that is a more contagious variant. It is making people sicker and most of the severe infections are in invaccinated children and adults and that does include children. I think were so grateful that coronavirus doesnt seem to have the severe infectious impacts in the same way that it does in adults. But it does still make children very sick and we have still seen children get quite ill both in the immediate phase, in the hospital, and in the longterm. So it is just so important for all of us to be coming together to do all of the things that we can to protect everyone in our community and especially right now those children under 12 who dont have access to this safe and effective vaccine. And when there is an fda approved covid vaccine for children, should it be required by schools . I guess put a different way, should this vaccine be any different from any other vaccine that the academy recommends . Yeah, it is a great question. And i think it is one that schools and communities are really wrestling it. And i think right now were focused on helping and parents and adults an kids and teens know about the vaccine and understand it so you understand why it is so important to get the vaccine to protect yourself, to protect others so that you know it is a safe and effective vaccine. And so i think these these are going to be really important questions that schools need to wrestle it. And we do, you know, we do ask our kids to be vaccinated against Routine Childhood Ills when they come into school. So to make sure everyone knows about vaccine and understand why it is such a safe and effective vaccine so that you will be eager to get it. Dr. Beers, thank you for coming on. Thank you so much. We have some breaking news. Coming in just now to cnn. Cnn has just learned that a white House Official and a senior aide to Nancy Pelosi have tested positive for coronavirus. A white House Official confirmed that this staffer, this white House Staffer tested positive off the White House campus. And a source tells cnn the white House Official had not had any recent contact with joe biden. But raising many questions an many more questions to come. Lauren fox is joining me now with more on details. Lauren, what more are you learning . Reporter well, look, this isnt just acting the White House, it is also affecting people up here on Capitol Hill. Remember, most people up here on hill have been vaccinated. 100 of the democratic caucus had been vaccinated and this staffer who worked for Nancy Pelosi had already been fully vaccinated. But got the coronavirus. And i think one of the key questions has been what happened here . Remember those texas lawmakers who had traveled from that state here to washington, d. C. As part of their effort to try to pass some kind of voting rights legislation, they had a series of meetings on Capitol Hill and one of the questions and concerns of course is what has happened with this spreading of this virus. Now we have also confirmed here at cnn, my colleagueainy gear, our house producer, learning that the staffer who worked for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not been in contact with the House Speaker since they contracted the virus. So of course that is very key. This morning we saw Speaker Pelosi going into her Kacaucus Meeting and wearing a mask. Her staff said she wears a mask when she is traveling but this is when shes flying on an airline and it is mandated. So everybody is taking precautions. If you remember a couple of weeks ago, the house finally removed the Mask Mandate on the floor. But there are a number of republicans who have not said whether or not they have vaccinated. And that is a key question here. Are they going to be on the floor, is that Mask Mandate going to change up here on Capitol Hill because we are seeing this Delta Variant across the country. I think there are real concerns about whether or not people up here in washington are going to need to start masking up again on Capitol Hill. Of course, we havent seen any guidance along those lines. But it is a question that a lot of people are asking after weve seen the outbreak of cases after the texas lawmakers were here in washington. And any question of what the Breakthrough Infections mean. That is a question more and more. Lauren fox on Capitol Hill with breaking news. Thank you. Any minute now well hear from Jeff Bezos and his all civilian crew in texas after their historic Space Flight. Well take you back to texas. Anderson coop is on the ground there for us. Astronaut here at Blue Origin and it is my pleasure to emcee todays Press Conference with the newest international astronauts, the first human Flight Crew of New Shepard, another round of applause. [ applause ] and without further ado, i think it is time to pin these four wonderful people astronauts. And with that i would like to introduce to the stage, Jeff Ashby our senior director of Safety And Mission assurance and former space shuttle commander. Jeff . I am deeply honored today to represent all of the Blue Origin employees, especially the new Shepard Team Past and present in awarding wings to the first four Blue Origin astronauts. These astronauts will wear a set of wings in the shape of the letter a, the Side Pieces represent the road to space and our Feather Logo is the crossbar. And at top, a tiny Blue Sapphire to remind these folks that they are from Planet Earth and that they have a mission to protect this home. With that said, oliver, would you join me. [ applause ] they didnt make this easy. I practiced. Let me say something. Oliver, you have received a special gift of the astronaut perspective. I know that you will do good things with it and make the world a better place. Congratulations. Thank you. [ applause ] mark, would you join me, please. Gladly. So excited for Yo U guys. Very good. Im going to hand you this. Mark, i hope this experience will help you to continue to do the great things youre doing for human kind. Congratulations. Thank you. [ applause ] jeff, would you join me, please. [ applause ] there are few people i know more deserving than this, jeff. Seriously. And i dont know what youre going to do next, but i cant wait to watch. Congratulations. Congratulations. And wally, would you join me, please. 60 years, wally. Wow. The best pin ive ever gotten in my life, and ive had lots of them. Wally, you continue to inspire us. Thank you so much for doing that, and god bless you. Congratulations. Thank you. More to come. [ applause ] the first four of millions to follow. Again, the newest international astronauts, the crew of new shepherd. Congratulations, all four of you. So without further adieu, how was it . Jeff, what was it like . Was it everything you imagined . Im going to answer that question, but just real quick. I want to thank a few people. First of all, all of the engineers that Blue Origin who have toiled hard to get this done. The people who built it. They have worked for many years. Theyve done an extraordinary job of building the most reliable, most beautiful, most fun i can vouch for that. Ill get to that in a second. Vehicle. We owe them grassrootitude, and people who kept us safe today, operated the vehicle. Our trainers, everybody. Its huge. I also want to thank the town of van horn. This is a small and amazing little town. And you know, were making a dent in it. And we appreciate you for allowing us to be part of your town. And then i also, i want to thank every Amazon Employee and every Amazon Customer, because you guys paid for all this. So seriously, for every Amazon Customer out there, and every Amazon Employee, thank you from the bottom of my heart, very much. Its very appreciated. And now on how it felt, oh, my god. My expectations were high, and they were dramatically exceeded. We were talking about this a little bit in the Car Ride on the way back. I dont know. The zero G Piece may have been one of the Big E surprises. It felt so normal. It felt so like, almost like we were as humans evolved to be in that environment. Thats impossible, but it felt peaceful. The floating. Its much nicer than being in full on gravity. Its a very pleasurable experience, just the way it feels. You know, the most profound piece of it for me was looking out at the earth and looking at the earths atmosphere. Every restaurant, everybody who has been up into space, they say this, it changes them. They look at it and theyre amazed by the earth and its beauty, but also by the fragility. I can vouch for that. When were sitting and moving around the planet in our normal ways, the atmosphere is so gigantic. Were this tiny thing and the atmosphere is so big. But when you get up above it, what you see is its actually incredibly thin. Its a tiny fragile thin, and as we move about the planet, were damaging it. So that is thats thats a very profound its one thing to recognize that and its another thing to see with your own eyes how fragile it really is. And that was amazing. Who wants to add . Oliver, you want to tell us how it was . Our first paying customer . You feel like you got your moneys worth, sir . It was amazing to see it from above and move around. I totally agreed. It feels so natural, almost like we should be doing this, and i hope that we are one of the first and lets hope that many, many more people are going to do this, because this experience you should share with more and more people. Its so amazing. And a special congratulations to you on becoming the youngest person to have ever flown in space. Thank you. You brought with you up there the next generation of Spacex Mother motherers, but another flag, the netherlands. Everybody out there, theres the new dutch flying man. There you go. You should say what you told me in the car about the g force. I thought that was interesting. I was surprised. They told us what what the g forces would feel like on the way up. Again, its one of those things that you hear about. You anticipate, but really feel them on the way up. It was incredibly exhilarating, and then on the way back down, what i had not anticipated we hit 5 gs briefly on the way back down, and thats a lot of pressure. And unfortunately, during the Status Check for eaches a Stro Naught by the time nay got to astronaut demo, mine, we were at 5 gs. They were like astronaut demo, how are you doing . I was like okay. I had a hard time responding, but im not sure what that Video Footage will look like. Probably not very pretty. It was so exciting. If you havent figured it out yet, wally might be the oldest person ever in space and oliver the youngest. My brother is the Funniest Person ever in space, for sure. I want to do a couple of more things before we maybe go to the next questions which is i want to recognize two people here in the audience. We are honored today to have allen shepards daughters. Could you stand briefly . And then allen shepard was Apollo Moon Walker and has a gigantic list of accomplishments, but for our purposes today, the thing that is most interesting about Allen Shepherd is that he is the Name Sake for this vehicle new she shepherd, and thats because the Mission Profile we did today is similar to The One that allen flew when he became the first american in space i guess 6 0ish years ago. That is we are honored to have you guys here. Thank you for joining us. Its incredible. And i got some pictures with them backstage, and i know those are getting blown up big. Thank you. And i have a couple things to show. Can we start do you want to talk about a couple things we flew . Like go ahead. Well, we did so, we had the opportunity to brick with us, it was on loan from the Explorers Club. We were able to fly with a piece of canvas from the right flier. So the plane the Wright Brothers flew, we brought a piece of that canvas with us as well as a Bronze Medallion that was made from the first hot Air Balloon Flight in 1783. That was the first time man ever left the earth and controlled flights. So were thrilled to be able to bring both of those along with us. And we brought the precious objects back. We did. And the Explorers Club will be pleased about that. And we have one more thing. Who has the goggles . Could you please, bring them up to me . This is incredible. All right. These are amelia earharts goggles. The ones she flew across the atlantic with solo. She put tape over them to kind of have less light come in because it was just so bright all the day, and she was flying for so long. And theyre just i like to think that if amelia were here, shed be very, very proud of wally. I just cant resist doing this. Thank you, amelia, wherever you are. We hope youre watching all of this. Thank you. These are precious. Precious cargo. There you go. On that note, wally oh, im sorry. Thank you, lauren. Just reminded me. I have one more thing which is kristina, i might need your help on this. Mom, could you come up for a second . Wheres my mom . Okay. You dont have to come up. I can come to you. I have i wore this necklace. I wore this necklace, and it is a feather, and i wore it up in space, and now its for you. I would put it on her myself, but i would need my reading glasses
