In one district alone, 1300 people are assumed missing. Some regions receiving more than a Months Worth of rain in just 24 hours. At least 12 people have died in belgium, meteorologists describing it as the heaviest rainfall in a century. Nina Dos Santos is tracking developments. Weeks and weeks of rain. What is the impact of the floods . Reporter thats right, michael, the impact as you see is loss of life, severe devastation to a number of buildings, infrastructure is being blown up. Across one part of the three stricken regions of germany, one of the most populous regions, were seeing some of the Telephone Lines having been cut off, Hundreds Of Thousands without power, indeed running water and basic supplies. It is a pretty dramatic situation and in one part of the vehicle stricken part of the country, authorities reckon that 1300 people are currently noncontactable and assumed missing but it appears that they just actually Cant Contact them at this point. Still scores of people are missing, scores of people in the veh stricken buildings. And also in belgium, the Death Toll stands at 12. And the third biggest urban Area Home to big international factories and a large population had to be evacuated. Also in the netherlands, Tens Of Thousands of people in part of the city had to be advantage natured as well as Weather Forecasters becoming increasingly served that the river will break its banks as well. Youve had a low Pressure System that has been very slow moving during warm air that has hovered over these four countries and caused a lot of rainfall in just a few hours that overwhelmed some of the biggest rivers in europe. Public health experts say the culprit is disinformation, lies and distortions about vaccines often perpetrated in Social Media. And they warn it is not a matter of opinion, it is a matter of life and death. Less than half of the u. S. Population is fully vaccinated according to the cdc. Data from the national institutes of Health Show that 99 of people who now have to be hospitalized with the virus or die did not get vaccinated. Seems pretty obvious the message there. My biggest worry is that we have the ability to save peoples lives, to protection them from covid19. And were not making full use of that opportunity. Were not bringing that life saving potential. And get this, some republican lawmakers are attacking the White House for trying to crack down on antivaccine lies. They call it censorship. Louisiana has one of the lowest Vaccination Rates in the country with just 36 of the state fully vaccinated, well short of the 70 to 85 experts say is needed to create socalled herd immunity. A State Health Officer explains how they are trying to fight misinformation. Were really trying to work hard to engage trusted messengers. At this stage in the vaccine campaign, i think a lot of us need to be humbled enough, i need to know im probably not the best messenger, the governor or my department is probably not the best messenger, but somebody is, a community member, musician, a leader, a member of their church. So were trying to partner with organizations, find those trusted messengers and empower them with facts and resources to talk to people and get their questions answered. In tennessee where Vaccination Rates are below 40 , some medical professionals are calling for an investigation into the governors handling of the pandemic after a top official was fired after she advocated for adolescents to get the covid shots without parents consent. Scenes there florida thirst where crowds of people marched in the streets in support of the antigovernment Protest Weve been seeing in cuba. A mayor who was born in cuba joined in the demonstrations. And cuba is takeing diplomatic heat from the u. S. , President Biden with a verbal slap in the face. Patrick oppmann with that. Reporter the war of words between the biden Administration And Couluban continue continues heat up after President Biden said that he felt it was a failed state. And he offered to restore the internet that the cuban government took down and even offered to send vaccines to cuba but only if an international organization administered those vaccines. Nine days after the assassination of Haitis President , authorities there have revealed few details about who was behind it and what the motivation was. 18 colombian suspects now in custody, some apparently thought they were going to detain the President Jovenel Moise and turn him over to the u. S. Drug enforcement administration. The dea declining to comment on that particular allegation. But Colombias President now claims that some of the alleged attackers knew that moise was to be killed. Cnn has obtained new video that shows the alleged a satisf assassins it is they tried to elude capture. Matt rivers is live with that. Reporter we became aware of a clip that was taken the day that Jovenel Moise was assassinated several hours after, this clip has made the rounds here in haiti quite a bit but it hasnt really been given a lot of attention internationally especially by international media. And what it shows really is enlightening in terms of exactly what happened in the hours after President Jovenel Moise was assassinated. Just hours after Haitis President was killed, this video live streamed by a local journalist shows some of the men accused of killing him. Here you can see two of the colombian mercenaries that officials say were part of the hit squad, the first man holding a rifle and signals for the journalist to stop. A second then stands up rifle glinting in the sun. They tell him to stop recording. At this Point Haitian Security Forces had trapped the two dozen or so alleged assassins along this stretch of road. At the bottom a Road Block and lookouts with the majority of the suspects hold up in this building. The camera reaches that building. As it pans, you can see two things. Several black clad mercenaries, and this man, one of the two haitianamericans accused of taking part in the crime. At this moment, he is actually giving a live interview to haiti Radio Mega saying they didnt kill the president. Someone died but we didnt do it, he said. People inside the President S House started to shoot at us and we fired back to defend ourselves. He then says most of the group believed that they were going to arrest the president , not kill him. The journalist who filmed them who didnt want to show his face said the group didnt seem to have a plan. He says they knew they were in a tough position and knew the president was dead, they were confused, not sure whether to turn themselves in or fight. Ultimately some chose to fight and a fierce shootout with police left at least three colombians dead. The easiest way to tell who actually killed the president would be to see the footage from Cctv Cameras inside the president ial residence that source tells us captured most of what happened. But authorities have refused to release it or even describe its contents. We know there is Cctv Footage from the president ial residence the night of the assassination. Why not release that footage to the public, would that not answer so many outstanding questions about who did this. So we cannot reveal to the public anything, anymore information, until the investigators allow us to do so. Reporter we also got the chance to ask the chief of the international police about the fact that we havent heard from any of the alleged suspects that are detained at this moment, including the colombians that are currently detained in haiti. And i asked him when well be able to hear from those detainees, what have they been charged with, do they have legal representation. He didnt answer really any of those questions. And because of that our questions will remain about exactly what the motive behind all of this actually is. Matt rivers, cnn, portauprince, haiti. Next week the biden administration will begin relocatingof afghan sperp interpreters, of course that is the plan. Many fear for their safety and some have tied died as the tali gained ground. Army Captain Matt Zeller about the importance of doing right by these afghans and if he worries the White House efforts are too little too late. The administration has just been completely lacking on the key details of who gets to go in this evacuation, where do they get to go and when do they get to leave. The other thing that we all are wondering as advocates who have been pushing for this vaccination, why are we doing it now at the 11th hour, why didnt we do it over the last four or five months when we still had forces in afghanistan. The association of wartime allies recently surveyed the afghan special Visa Applicant Population in afghanistan and what they found is that over 49 of our afghan wartime allies currently live outside of the city of kabul. The biden administration seems to only have a plan to evacuate people who are in kabul. So what are we going to do about, you know, the other 40,000 people or so that are not in kabul. There doesnt seem to be a plan for them. How do they even get to a rally point. This is part of the question. Too late. When it comes to this concern over vetting, which a lot of people on the right in particular keep saying they need to be vetted and so on, something that gets lost in all bureaucratic side of this is all of these people have been vetted thoroughly enough do the jobs they did. I know when i went what i went through in order to embed with the military and get on bases, these people have already been vetted. Yeah, these people had to be polygraphed as terms of their employment every six months. Their emails were monitored, their Phone Calls were monitored. They were given privileged access to some of the most sensitive u. S. Military personnel and equipment. We have a gentleman that we interviewed for our podcast, sharif, he was the personal interpreter for the united States Navy S. E. A. L. S and u. S. Army forces for over seven years. This Guy Cant get a visa right now. It was already denied once. The taliban have killed his mom, his dad, all of his siblings. Hes afraid he will get left behind. And he is a prime example of somebody who clearly have all the vetting to work alongside them but cant seem to get through the vetting that we now require to get to safety. It is atrocious.
