Floyds neck as floyd begged for his life. Moments ago, george Floyds Family, including his young daughter, gianna, arrived at the White House. They are currently meeting with President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. This morning, they met with several lawmakers, including House Speaker Nancy pelosi, as congress, of course, also missed the president s deadline, which headset he had set for today to pass legislation. We want to begin with Joe Johns whos in minneapolis at this hour. How is george Floyds Life and legacy being honored today . Reporter well, i heard you just talking a moment ago about the governor of minnesota. We are expecting to hear from him as well as the mayor of minneapolis in just a little while. But i can also tell you that there is a Food Truck Festival here. You can hear the music behind me. And the fact of the matter is, though, having spent a couple days in this city, its very clear that the seriousness of the moment is not lost on the people here in minneapolis. As i talk to people, they say they want to see what government is going to do. They want to see change. Theres a great deal of anger, in fact, still about the death of George Floyd. One year ago today. So, all of that is on Everybodys Mind and is also relevant to point out, as you did, that the family of George Floyd is up in washington, d. C. , meeting with the president of the united states and all of that goes to show theres real concern on a national level about what government is going to do, how government is going to respond to the issue of excessive use of police force. The other thing i think is important to point out is this situation will turn very solemn, we expect, later today with what is expected to be a Candle Light Vigil at George Floyd square. That is the place where he died one year ago today, and there has been what could be a potential wrinkle. We got a report of a number of shots, multiple shots in the area of George Floyd square earlier today. Apparently one person slightly injured. Police responded. So, there is a bit of a concern now about how that could affect the candlelight vigil tonight. No word, of course, from the family or the organizers. When we know more, well get back to you. Okay, Joe Johns, thank you very much for the reporting. So, a short time ago, george Floyds Family arrived at the White House to mark the Oneyear Anniversary of his death. President Biden And Vice president Kamala Harris meeting privately with the family. This comes as bipartisan negotiations on a Police Reform Bill bearing George Floyds name continue in congress. Cnns Phil Mattingly is at the White House. Phil, what do we know about the meeting that is taking place right now, and connected to that in many ways, just how close congress is to an agreement on the Police Reform Bill . Reporter i think when you Look at what the Floyd Family is doing today, not just on this side of Pennsylvania Avenue but also on the other side on Capitol Hill, its very clear the legacy of George Floyd and the legacy of what transpired is something they are utilizing and have for months to try to push through transformative change when it comes to policing and they believe their appearances here and their efforts behind the scenes, not just with the president but with lawmakers, are helping move that process along and its something republicans and democrats on Capitol Hill say has had a tangible effect. When they fiphysically meet wit the family and hear their pain. The meeting itself with the president and the Vice President today, its closed. Theres no press. Theres no spray. Theres none of those things you often see at the top of these meetings where reporters run in, Shout Out questions as loud as we can and then are ushered out for the meeting to begin. The president made very clear that he wanted this meeting to be private. He did not want reporters inside of it. He wanted to have a very real conversation with the family whos the bond that he has had with them has really grown in the wake of the course of the last year. Obviously, during his campaign, he met with the family a couple days after the murder of George Floyd. He recorded a video for the memorial service. He stayed in touch with them. Just a few hours after the guilty verdict for Derek Chauvin, he was on the phone with the family, expressing relief as he put it at the time, about the verdict but also making clear that he believed they needed to keep pushing forward on Police Reform, and he promised them they would come to the White House and here they are and included in the group is gianna, George Floyds daughter, who the president has repeatedly invoked in public conversations and im told private conversations who told the president in their first meeting that she believed her father would change the world. Biden references that constantly, now an opportunity once again and now in the Oval Office to meet with the president and the family. Now, as it comes to Police Reform, Look, i think the White House has made clear, they didnt want to make a public show of today because they want to give negotiators space. They want to make sure that the bipartisan negotiations that are very much still happening on Capitol Hill have an opportunity to progress. And progress is what members on both sides of the aisle have said theyre making. Are they near a deal at this very moment . Doesnt seem like it based on conversations that i have had with people involved but they do believe theyre moving toward a framework, perhaps some type of resolution in the weeks ahead. They obviously wont hit the president s deadline of today be the White House says theyre okay with that. They just want a bill on the president s desk at some point and as of now, those talks, unlike so many other bipartisan negotiations on Capitol Hill, are moving forward, guys. Well, moving forward is good to hear, at least, even if it may not meet that deadline. Phil mattingly at the White House, thank you. And in just a moment, were actually going to speak with some of george Floyds Family members. Also ahead, Secretary Of State Tony Blinken. Yeah, hes in The Middle East speaking about the ceasefire and pushing u. S. Support for rebuilding gaza. Plus, Donald Trumps first legal response to an insurrection lawsuit. He is claiming total immunity while he was president. [ echoing ] some of us were born for this. To protect people. To help them save. With a Home And Auto bundle from progressive. Ahh. I was born for this. And now its prime time. Cut. Jamie, what are you doing . Youre not even in this one. I thought it was thursday. Sorry. It is. I thought i thought it was last thursday. The lasting Cologne Scent of old Spice Dynasty helps get you off your couch. And into the drivers seat. From the moment i laid eyes on you this is what i said, i said i see it and i like it and i want it yes, i do do, do, do i need it to make me happy baby, yes i do mean you i see it and i like it and i want it yes, i do woo secretary of State Anthony Blinken just wrapping up Day One of his Threeday Trip to The Middle East. He met with israeli prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and with palestinian President Mahmoud abbas. The meetings come amid a fragile ceasefire which ended 11 days of fighting between israel and hamas. Blinken is pledging u. S. Support to help Rebuild Gaza but making it clear that help would not benefit hamas. Asking all of us to help Rebuild Gaza only makes sense if there is confidence that what is rebuilt is not lost again because hamas decides to launch more Rocket Attacks in the future. So, this is vitally important. Cnns Kylie Atwood has more from the state department. What do we know about the trip so far . Reporter were learning a few new things today. Secretary of state Tony Blinken announced that the u. S. Would be reopening their consulate in jerusalem. That is the primary place for u. S. Diplomatic relations with the palestinians. It was closed down during the trump administration. Its demonstrative of the fact that the biden administration is committed to rebuilding their relationship with the palestinians. Secondarily, were also learning, as you mentioned, that the u. S. Is upping its assistance to the palestinians, a total of some 360 Million in assistance, and im told that about 38 Million of that is new humanitarian assistance to gaza and the West Bank that, of course, have faced enormous wreckage in the violence over the last few weeks. And then, when we heard Secretary Of State Tony Blinken speaking with prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he did reiterate that the u. S. Supports israels right to defend itself, and they spoke about the u. S. Support for the Iron Dome that has provided a lot of the stability and a lot of the protection from these incoming rockets. Now, one thing that i also want to point out is that Secretary Blinken just told reporters that the u. S. Also is against anything that would actually be seen as a possible spoiler here. This is a very fragile ceasefire that is under way. The u. S. Is putting a lot of diplomatic heft into keeping the ceasefire here in this current moment in time, but he said the united states would oppose anything, you know, such as demolitions or the continued building of settlements or any support to Terrorist Groups that could essentially retrigger any violence. Kiley, former Secretary Of State Mike Pompeo is also pushing this theory again sorry. I thought we had a chance for another question, kiley. We dont. But thank you for the reporting as always. Thanks, kiley. Okay, so we now know that President Biden and russian president Vladimir Putin will meet facetoface next month. The White House confirms the summit will take place in geneva, swirtzerland, at the en of bidens first international trip since taking office. Relations between the u. S. And russia have deteriorated in recent months over issues including Election Interference and ukraine. Washington applying harsh new Sanctions On Moscow in the wake of a massive Solarwinds Cyberattack on u. S. Government agencies. Attorneys for former President Donald Trump defending his January 6th speech amid a new lawsuit. And theyre claiming that Donald Trump is still immune even today. Congressman Eric Swalwell filed the lawsuit, seeking to hold Trump Accountable for the capitol insurrection. But former president trumps attorneys argue his fiery speech to a crowd of ginned up supporters is protected by the constitution. Cnn has new details. What you just learned . Reporter well, alisyn and erica, were learning that the former president s lawyers are arguing back and pushing back on the challenges to the statements that he made on January 6th, you know, encouraging the Protrump Crowd to head to the capitol and to challenge the certification of the president ial election for joe biden. So, now, trumps attorneys are saying that the speech that he gave that day was protected by the first amendment and also because he was president at the time, theyre saying he has absolute immunity from this lawsuit. Alisyn . So, that absolute immunity, you know, kara, i also understand theres new details about the investigation into president trumps attorney, Rudy Giuliani. What more do we know about that . Reporter well, erica, weve learned the Prosecutors Investigation here has gotten a lot broader. Their seizure of materials goes beyond the 18 devices they had taken from giuliani and his company. According to Court Filing Today that had some faulty redactions in it, we were able to learn that prosecutors has seized and searched devices that include a number of ukraines. One of them was very prominent in the efforts to remove the u. S. Ambassador to ukraine, marie yovanovitch. Thats the focus of Rudy Giulianis investigation. We learned that prosecutors had Looked at the emails of yuri lutsenko. He had met with giuliani multiple times and he was the person who had falsely said that the u. S. Ambassador had spoken negatively about Donald Trump and that she had given him a do not prosecute list suggesting that she was corrupt. Now, we also learned that two other ukrainians emails were accessed. Those include the former head of ukrainian fiscal service, roman, his Email And Icloud was searched. In addition to him, the Ipad And Iphone of a ukrainian businessman, alexander eleven, was also searched by prosecutors. These searches occurred in late 2019 and early 2020. That was just a few months after Lev Parnas and igor, two of Rudy Giulianis associates, were arrested as they were about to board a plane there austria. This new information comes to light as Rudy Giuliani is fighting the Search Warrants that were executed on his home and office. This filing was made public today by Parnass Attorney because he wants to obtain details about any of those materials that were seized in any of these searches that relate to parnas. Erica, alisyn . Kara, thank you very much. Nothing like those faulty redactions to help get a clearer picture. Thank you. There is that. Could it be evidence of a coverup and why key pieces of Body Camera Footage in the death of Ronald Greene were not reported to police. Right now, george Floyds Family is meeting with President Biden as we mark one year since he was murdered by police. Theres a push on Capitol Hill to pass a bipartisan Police Reform Bill in his name. Our next guest is tara brown, George Floyds cousin and the director of the George Floyd foundation. Great to see you. Hi. Thank you for having me. Thanks for being here. What does today mean for you and your family . Obviously, were still heartbroken. Today is a day that, you know, it marks the anniversary of his passing, and so you know, theres no way of avoiding that this is a tremendous loss for us. As much as, you know, its a loss for us, we do understand that its we want to celebrate the life that he lived and focus on just making sure that there is we build on the legacy that we want to honor him with. Yeah. I read, tera, that you had always prided yourself, or i guess considered yourself the Protector And Nurturer of the family and i can imagine that today and this year has been hard for somebody who couldnt protect the family from all of this pain. That is so true. That has always been my role, and so i do have you know, i may have said before that i just have so much guilt about, really, just not being there or not being able to save him. And so, that is why its just so important to me that we cant get him back, we know well never get him back, but we can do things as far as Policy And Legislation and getting those changes that will save lives, save the lives of others. And tera, whats happening with georges daughter, gianna, his young daughter that we all remember seeing . How is she . Gianna is doing well. Shes surrounded by people who love her and support her and care for her, and so as much as we can, we want to shield her from the inevitable pain that she will probably some day feel, but right now, shes happy and just doing as well as she can. She understands some things, but shes 7, so we just try to protect her as much as we can. I mean, we all remember that sweet statement that she made just days after her father was killed, lets just play another minute of that. Daddy changed the world. He did what . Daddy changed the world. Daddy changed the world. I mean, that was just days after he was killed, and she said, daddy changed the world. And so, a year later, there have been a lot of changes. I mean, from where you sit, what has been the biggest thing to come out of George Floyds death . Well, i have to say gianna, my goodness, that is that moves me every time i hear her say that because i honestly know that she believes that. And so, i agree there have been some changes. As far as awareness and, you know, people have been awakened to the sensitivity of understanding what some black men go through with Police Brutality and things like that. So, we have noticed that, and people have spoken out more about it. Ive seen corporations move into making sure that they have the Diversity Trainings and things like that, even in the state of texas, we are actually they have moved to Police Reform In The City where were from. Theyve already band the chokehold and things like that. Were working on a Policing Reform Act in the state of texas as we speak. So there are some changes, and we just have to keep focusing on making sure that we keep the main thing the main thing. Yeah, i understand. I mean, Confederate Statues came down. Schools changed their names. There was a national conversation that came out of this. But i know that what your family has really wanted and has called for from the day after your cousin was killed was Police Reform. You dont want this to happen to another family. And so, i mean, we keep hearing about the status of the George Floyd Police Reform act and whether or not it will be bipartisanly passed. If it doesnt happen, you know, because a lot of people dont have a lot of faith right now in what happens on Capitol Hill, whats next for your family . I really cant allow myself to focus on if its not going to happen. Every bit of my energy is focused on how do we make it happen. So, with that being said, i understand that this is not something that we would expect to happen quickly anyway because it took us this long to get Derek Chauvin arrested and charged and even to get the conviction. So and this is the first time im understanding in the state of minneapolis that a white Police Officer has been convicted of the murder of a Black Man. So, im understanding that these things do take time, and were i cant allow myself to think that nothings going to happen. Yeah, i understand. I mean, your family has always, even in their most raw grief, has always been hopeful that something can come out of this. That your cousin didnt die in vain and that Theres Something positive that will come out of this, and frankly, your familys incredibly good attitude, i think, has carried a lot of us as well. And so, you know, another question for you. Something in terms of the generosity of your family. You got a multimillion dollar your family got a multimillion Dollar Settlement from the city of minneapolis for the wrongful death, basically, of George Floyd, and i understand that youre going to give half A Million Dollars of it away. Whos going to get that money . Well, we know for sure that a lot of that money will go towards the community where he was murdered. And so, there are some projects and things that will be worked out. Im not sure of the details on those at this point. But we do know that it will go for restoration and to help the community where he was murdered. Tera brown, i know this is a tough day for you, but we really appreciate you taking time and helping us remember your cousin. Thank you. Thank you. We appreciate you so much. Cnn has learned that two louisiana officers involved in the death of a Black Man in Police Custody will be fired. Now, this follows a stunning development in the case which raises fresh concerns of a police coverup. Louisiana State Police now say the Senior Officer on the scene of Ronald Greenes deadly arrest didnt initially report his own Body Camera Footage. Greene died after what State Troopers now describe as resisting arrest in a struggle with officers, but his family says they were told greene died in a Car Crash after a police chase. Cnns Nick Valencia has been on this story and joins us now. Nick, what more do we know about these firings and any more information on why this new video thats come to light was kept from the initial investigation . Hey there, erica, good afternoon. This is a tragedy that continues to unravel and with every major development, with every even minor development here it seems to add merit to the Familys Insistence that there was a coverup in the death of Ronald Greene. To these arrests first. Two sources with knowledge of the investigation tell us that the two troopers seen in that brutal Arrest Video of Ronald Greene repeatedly punching, tasing, and even dragging him will be terminated by the Louisiana State police. One of those sources telling me that the arrests are imminent and will happen soon but did not give a timeline. A second source telling my colleague, ryan young, that those arrests were supposed to happen last week but did not and they did not elaborate on that. And then today, were also learning of this significant development of Body Cam Footage from the Highestranking Trooper at the Arrest Scene that was not part of the initial investigation. We reached out to Louisiana State police to find out why, and this is what they sent me in a statement here, saying, quote, upon continued administrative review of the incident, personnel discovered three videos utilized in the internal Affairs Investigation were not part of the evidence submitted to District Attorney Belton with the original case report. Of course, these videos were first made public by the associated press. Those Video Clips that were part of an arrest that happened more than two years ago, first being made public on friday, and the family is furious. They believe, erica, that this is a Smoking Gun, Smoking Gun evidence that there was a coverup from the governor on down to the head of the State Police. We should mention that the head of the State Police at the time was kevin reeves, who is no longer with the department, but the family attorney, lee merritt, insists that this is further proof that there was a coverup, insisting that not enough was done to help the life of Ronald Greene. Erica . Nick valencia, appreciate the reporting. Thank you. And as nick just mentioned, we are now joined by f. Lee merritt. Good to have you with us. You know, as nick just mentioned, when you spoke with him earlier, you talked about a Smoking Gun of a coverup. Are you confident at this point that you have seen all of the evidence, all of the video that is related to what happened to Ronald Greene two years ago, or do you think Theres Something many . More . Davis, the new colonel over the Louisiana State police, made a representation to the family that he planned to release all the Video Evidence within his files and the files that he dumped on last friday, we found new videos that we had never seen before, videos that we were told were either of no evidentiary value or they didnt exist. And so, no, at this point, we cant take anyone at their word. We think that Colonel Davis is doing his level best to be as transparent about what actually happened, but at this point, you know, were going to need to go over all of the evidence with a fine tooth comb. We believe that District Attorney Belton should be should have another opportunity to turn on the evidence and decide whether or not to bring criminal State Charges and certainly there should be a Pattern And Practice investigation into the entire Louisiana State police apparatus. And do you believe that will happen . I believe that its happening already, and so weve been in contact with federal investigators since september. We were told that with the new administration coming taking over, that the u. S. Attorneys would be Looking at it anew but were certainly participating with that process and Looking forward to a presentation to both a federal Grand Jury but i cant emphasize enough, these are State Level crimes and the state has a responsibility to take action as well. You know, nick also just reporting for us that cnn has learned these two officers will be terminated and that the arrests were actually supposed to happen last week. Has any of that been communicated to you or to the family . Well, the arrest was supposed to happen two years ago, but no, that hasnt been officially communicated with us. Weve heard when a rumor of terminations. Nick went back and forth between the Word Termination and arrest. We are demanding that these officers be arrested. But the only Thing Weve got back was conversations about termination, and Look, if i beat someone to death on the job and then i lie about it in all the reports and that evidence comes out, the last thing im worried about is whether or not im going to keep my job. I should lose my freedom, and thats what were waiting for. As we Look at what happened, i think for a lot of people who are just learning about what happened to mr. Greene and what the family was told, it really stops them in their tracks. Initially, two years ago, when mr. Greene was killed, the family was told this was after this was the result of a Car Crash. And then i know a wrongful Death Lawsuit was filed about a year later, but can you just help us understand and for folks at home who are just learning more, when did Ronald Greenes family first realize that what they were initially told is not what happened, that Ronald Greene did not die in a Car Crash . Well, the family maintained their suspicions. They were told that ronald died in a Car Accident and thats when they left florida, where they lived, and started making their way back to louisiana. By the time they got to louisiana, they asked to see Ronald Greenes body and they were told it was taken out of the state to arkansas. That raised a Red Flag for them. And once they finally got to his body, they had a chance to observe it and they took pictures using their camera phones, and the body, as it presented, didnt appear as if it was a person who had only been involved in a Car Accident. As the medical examiner notes, he had significant abrasions and scarring all over his body, lumps on his head that werent consistent with a crash but more consistent with being beat with a blunt object repeatedly. The Family Saw that with their own two eyes and so theyve been questioning the official account really since Day One. You know, as i understand it, the Family Plans to travel to Baton Rouge later this week where theyll be marching with the naacp, the aclu, and theyre hoping to get an audience with the governor again. We know the governor did speak with the family back in october. What are you hoping will come of that conversation if it does, in fact, happen . Well, this is the family of Ronald Greene who the world is now watching being tortured to death in high definition, and so the family wants to meet with the governor and the Attorney General a second time, and this time, having an open and honest conversation about what is actually occurring on that video by agents of the state of louisiana and what are the remedies available to the family, specifically what are the criminal consequences for these officers . And so yeah, the family is going to march and theyre being backed up by the aclu and the naacp and all freedomloving people in louisiana. But it will be to demand that they do their job, the job that the taxpayers pay them to do, to protect the civil rights of all citizens. Lee merritt, appreciate you taking the time to join us today. Thank you. Thank you. Okay, some top republicans are finally, finally condemning the sickening comments made by Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor greene. Why did it take them five days . The house approved this bill, which was negotiated by a democrat and a republican, but top Senate Republicans now oppose it. To bring you up to speed on the latest, lets bring in cnns chief congressional correspondent, manu raju, and chief political analyst, gloria borger. Manu, senators sounding off on this right now. Doesnt Look like the democrats have the votes to get this through, so where do we stand at this point . Could there be concessions made to win over a few more republicans . Reporter its possible they may make some changes to win over a few more republicans but probably not the ten republicans that they need to break a republicanled filibuster. The senate majority leader, chuck schumer, has been coy about whether or not he would, in fact, make changes. I asked him several times this afternoon whether he would be willing to do anything to win over some more republicans. All he said is, i hope to have a vote on this sometime this week. So the expectation is later in the week. And the expectation is that there will not be those ten republican senators to break ranks. One of them, mitch mcconnell, the senate republican leader, just reiterated his opposition to reporters just moments ago, contending that this proposal, which would evenly be split between republicans and democrats democratic appointees to investigate what happened is a political one and argued that democrats are trying to essentially push the narrative about what happened on January 6th and bring the discussion about Donald Trump into the forefront in the runup to the 2022 midterms, which is what is driving a lot of the republican opposition, concern that this investigation could be a distraction politically and a belief that they could deal with the issue about what happened on January 6th through separate means, an investigation thats happening by two senate committees, which is Looking at narrowly what happened on January 6th and the lack of preparedness as well as the justice departments ongoing prosecutions of individuals who breached this building on that day, so those reasons alone are enough to expect here that ultimately, republicans will block this and then democrats may have to decide what to do next and whether to create a committee In The House to mount a democraticled investigation on their own. Manu, one quick followup to that, because Minority Leader Kevin Mccarthy has said, we dont need the redundancy, you know, these two, as you point out, committees are already narrowly Looking at it. He did not mind that there were eight committees Looking into the benghazi. Now, these two committees are whats going to stop him from getting to the bottom of what Donald Trumps role was, Et Cetera . Reporter and i can tell you, ive spoken to the authors who were writing that report from these two committees in the senate, and they are making it very clear, this is a narrow investigation, Looking at why the capitol was unprepared on January 6th, the Security Failures involving the national guard, the capitol police, intelligence services, not the runup to what happened on January 6th, not Donald Trumps role, not the organizing of the rally, none of that. This is a narrowly focused probe, and that report will be out in the first week of june, so what the proponents are pushing for the commission saying is that we need to investigate all of it here, not just the narrow investigation, but the narrow investigation is enough for the top republicans. Okay, gloria, now, next, now, five days later, top republicans are finally condemning the disgusting comments from Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor greene because, obvious, she compared asking unvaccinated lawmakers to wear masks on the House Floor and vaccines to Nazis Loading Jews into gas chambers. Okay. But in terms of condemning it, its really a mixed bag from people like congressman Steve Scalise. Heres what he wrote. Heres the statement from his office. Congressman scalise does not agree with these comments and condemns these comparisons to the holocaust. We also need to be speaking out strongly against the dangerous antisemitism that is growing in our streets and in the Democrat Party resulting in an alarming number of horrific violent attacks against jews. Gloria, who in the democratic party has likened vaccines to nazis . No one. No one. Its just another ridiculous case of sort of whataboutism here. Enough is enough. This is despicable. They should have said, enough is enough five days ago. And the question that i have, well, i have a couple of questions. One is, why All Of A Sudden, now, five days later, all of them in unison, right . Saying, oh my god, oh my god, this is terrible. She shouldnt be saying this. Maybe they got permission from Donald Trump. Maybe their donors started complaining. We know that one prominent republican donor, close friend of mr. Mccarthy, tweeted today about this. So, maybe they were starting to get some heat. Second question. What are they now going to do about it . When are they going to say, okay, we want to lead a Censure Vote against this woman because of her antisemitic remarks. She shows no remorse. She shows no understanding. Because if you dont do something like that, then pretty soon, youre allowing your party to be identified with what she says over and over again. At a certain point, they have to take some action. With these meetings, these all come with Senators Booker and scott along with Congresswoman Karen Bass are negotiating this stalled Police Reform Bill named, as alisyn said, after George Floyd. Is there a sense that these Meetings Today could spark some movement . Reporter well, theres certainly a sense, erica, that there is movement on this particular issue. You know, were up here on The Hill sometimes and things they say Theres Movement and theres really not. In this case theres a lot of cautious optimism floating around on Capitol Hill that Senator Scott, Senator Booker and Representative Bass can actually get something done. Just yesterday we heard from Senator Scott who said he sees the light at the end of the tunnel and all three of them agree they are working off a framework. They have made a considerable amount of progress considering they were pretty far apart when this all started. What we also did was hear from senator lindsey graham, whos been on the periphery of this. Hes not a main negotiator but taking part in the meetings
