What i saw in the tunnel, it was the most brutal combat imaginable. It was like i mean nothing i had ever seen outside of the movies. Reporter the rioters then push fad known into the crowds where he said he was hit by pipes and batons and even tased multiple times. Reporter fanone said he was knocked unconscious during the assault and suffered a Heart Attack and concussion. And even with the calls to move to protect him from some of the mob, fanone sending this message to them just one week after the riot in january. A lot of people have asked me, you know, my thoughts on the individuals in the crowd that, you know, helped me or tried to offer some assistance. I think kind of the conclusion ive come to is like, you know, thank you, but [ bleep ] for being there. Fanone slammed lawmakers from brushing over the reality of that day. He says he still lives with the emotional trauma of January 6th. Brianna, hes not alone in that. It is traumatic to watch that video. I cannot imagine experiencing that, and hes clearly thinking, im not going to make it home to my children tonight. I cant imagine. You know, ive talked about this a lot. But i think what you really need to remember, hes in law enforcement. Hes going to go back to law enforcement. These cops live this every day. This is their reality. Its a memory thats not going to go away. And unlike, you know, some lawmakers who can leave the district, hes here. These Capitol Police officers are here. They dont get a break. They dont get to escape. I think thats the thing i want you to remember when you watch this video. This is a memory that will be with them forever. It will define them. Congressman, i want to actually start with what we just saw, that just horrifying video of a d. C. Police officer being beaten by the rioters, and we saw it on the same day that some of your former colleagues that say, this insurrection, it didnt happen. There was no insurrection. They were like tourists strolling through the capitol. How can they say such a thing in the face of evidence like we just saw . It defies explanation, john. Im not sure how they can say it. You have to deny what you actually see and what we just saw, and you must deny the truth, and this is part of the problem. Weve kind of entered this posttruth era that we no longer want to accept truth. In reality if we want to be trubltful about what happened on January 6th, it was such a shocking day and important day in history, there was a group of 400 or 500 really violent protesters who entered the capitol who did so much damage and there were several thousand who really bought into a lie that President Trump had won the election when he hadnt, but they didnt break the law, break into the building and they werent violent. What happened on January 6th was a Turning Point and what we saw on the video should never happen again. To see that video and hear those lies on the very same day that Liz Cheney is pushed out of her job, really pushed out of her job for refusing to lie, what does that tell you about The Party youre deciding to leave . I think you have to separate a couple of things here, john. On the Liz Cheney thing, the role of a Conference Chair is to provide the communication of what the House Of Representatives the republicans in the house want to put out there for a message. And the members were saying, liz, we dont want to just talk about President Trump. We want to talk about tomorrow. We want to talk about the future. We want to talk about our vision. And she didnt feel they could go forward and talk about that yet until they dealt with what happened on January 6th. And so she wasnt the messenger they wanted to have. What liz was saying, and i thought her Floor Speech was powerful, was that we must build a future thats built on telling the american people the Truth And Understanding it. And this coalition that were getting to form here is to try to push The Party back to truthfulness and back to common sense. Call us a Commonsense Coalition if you will. But if we make it just about antiDonald Trump, i dont think that will be very effective. My premise would be we dont even talk about Donald Trump. We talk about tomorrow, not about yesterday. How do you know that theres an appetite for what youre trying to sell here . I mean we talk about a split within the republican party. Its actually not much of a split. It really does seem as if the base of The Party has decided. They choose Donald Trump and what hes selling. Republicans in congress have made crystal clear what they choose. They choose Donald Trump and what hes selling. So how can you succeed in what youre trying to do . Well, success, you have to define it through the long lens. You cant define it based on what happens maybe in the midterms or two years from now. We have to take a long view on this, john, and say what could the country look like ten years from now if we can collect all these voices of Disaffected Americans who neither want the country to veer hard to the left or to veer toward populism and what President Trump did. Theres a big group of americans that are persuadable because they just want government to work again and they dont feel that it does work right. And so everywhere i go, people tell me that they would just they want The Party to come back to a position of telling the truth. They want limited government. Theyd like to have the Debt And Deficit under control. They want the economy to work. They want Safety And Security in their homes. All a those things have have been part of republicanism for a better part of 150 years, theyd like to return to that, and wed like to see The Party Sit Back and evaluate what happened last november. How in 48 months could they have been given the keys to all of government, White House, senate, and House Of Representatives and 48 months later lose all of it. You have to look in the mirror and see what happened and be honest about it. Sometimes truth is success no matter what else happens. What was it like to hear that . Shameful. You know, these are the very same members of congress who fled the capitol. You know, the Vice President , they were chanting, you know, hang mike pence, and the president sat back after he had instigated this and spoke to the crowd and told them to get up to the Capitol And Fight for their country or they wouldnt have it anymore, they come out with a completely different narrative, complete lies beginning with the lie that trump won the election, and it is disgraceful. Its disgraceful that the leaders on the republican Sight Painting this scenario. Theyre trying to disassociate what happened on the capitol and they try to recharacterize those attacks themselves by pointing out that, you know, people didnt have firearms, but they did have pipe bombs, and they did, as mr. Ribble points out, 30,000 worth of damage in the capitol. Like tourists do. Its disheartening to see republican members spouting that lie. Congressman, you had a heated exchange with a former pentagon chief, acting defense secretary miller, who in interviews before over the last several months has said it was Donald Trumps language that provoked the crowd and was responsible for some of the violence that we saw. In his prepared Written Testimony to your committee, he said, i stand by the comments that i previously made, but he didnt say that out loud in his verbal testimony, and that led to this exchange i want to play for people here. I have reassessed its not the unitary factor at all. It seems clear there was an organized conspiracy with assault elements. This morning you stated the following about the president s quote. I personally believe his comments encouraged the protesters that day. That was this morning. So this is a this is a very recent reversal of your testimony. Absolutely not. Thats ridiculous. Youre ridiculous. Whats ridiculous, congressman . Well, the new portrayal here of in his earlier statement before his Written Statement was that without trumps speech that day on January 6th, the Marchers Wouldnt have marched on the Capitol Or Overrun the capitol. That was his earlier statement. And then as i pointed out in his written Statement Yesterday Morning he reiterated that. But when he got on the stand, i think he felt the pressure from my republican colleagues to just reverse his testimony and repeat the lie and try to say that the president didnt have anything to do with the attack on the capitol, which is just so far from the truth it is ridiculous. You know, the president when we interview the people who actually attacked the capitol, got inside and attacked the Police Officers and destroyed a lot of the capitol, furnishings and all that, say they they were called to the capitol by the president. They were told to go up to the capitol by the president. Thats what they heard. And given the statements of the president over the preceding weeks, its easy to see why they got that message. He said there was no need for hawkers of the kkk. He lost in landslide to lyndon johnson. Reagan said, my 80 friend is not my 20 enemy. Newt gingrich wanted to purge moderates from The Party. The inflauns of Right Wing Media amplified these divides. Listen to this now ironic 2009 interview with former Gop Dick Cheney choosing Rush Limbaugh over Colin Powell. If i had to choose in terms of being a republican is Rush Limbaugh. My take is Colin Powell is no longer republican. He left The Party. Republican leaders like Eric Cantor tried to harness their power, but each he fell to a tee party value. The lesson was clear. Play to the Base And Youll win your primary and tons of cash. Speak up and youll be attacked from the right and lose your otherwise safe seat. Check this out. Back in 1994, the gop was basically 60 40 split between conservatives and moderates. As of 2020, only 24 was considered moderate. Trump did play the slash and burn, Divide And Conquer game and proved confidence with the base. D dissenters got purged. You Cant Reason with a mob as v. Now schools across the country are reevaluating Mask Mandates. In alabama, Lee County schools said no more masks last month. In texas, the Carolyn Dependent School District will lift its Mask Mandate next month. Same thing for blan Dane School in ohio. Were not Out Of The Woods yet. Were in the home stretch. We want everybody to be on high alert about their what they call cyberhygiene, that they dont open emails and attachments from people they dont know, et cetera, that they install software that is good, the president s Executive Order went to cover all entities that contract with the federal government. I know many in congress are also contemplating what further steps can be had but the private sector needs to be on high alert. Many are, but we need to up our game. That eo is really in response to the Solarwinds Attack which affected the Government And Government contractors. Now you do have this private en entity. Why does it feel like the federal government is one step behind what is happening here . I dont know that theyre one step behind. This is happening everywhere. You know, this was happening from somebody who was not a state actor, as far as we know. We dont believe there was a direct connection to russia, et cetera, other than the fact that it looks like this group comes from Eastern Europe or russia. But this is happening whether it is international actor, whether it is domestic actor. These acts are happening all the time. This is why its super important to get the knowledge out that people have to be on alert. Their organizations have to be on alert whether its a Mom And Pop shop or the federal government or anywhere in between. A school, you name it. So we want to make sure that people understand. Because the federal government doesnt regulate all of these private actors, obviously, with regard to cyber. We want to make sure people understand how to protect themselves. This will be an ongoing conversation and a priority of this administration. When you look at the Panic Buying that is happening, i try to not participate in this and ill be the one who doesnt have guests. A lot of americans look at that and worry thats going to be them. So what do you say to people about how they should be behaving right now . Listen, i totally understand the fear that people have of not being able to go somewhere, especially in an emergency. But this is why people need to know the gas is flowing. This will be resolved within days, if not if youre in a big population center, perhaps even today or tomorrow. Please do not hoard gasoline because there are people who need it to be able to if they may be essential workers. They may need to go to a hospital. Your neighbor may need to be able to access gasoline. So and when hoarding happens, it compounds the problem. It exacerbates the lack of supply. And it may also contribute to Gas Price increases. So we want to make sure that everybody knows that this is going to be back the situation is going to be back to normal. No need to do that. And Gasoline Stations should not be taking advantage of this either and gas gouging. And anyone who sees that happening with the Gas Station should report that to the state attorney general. Let me ask a general question for people of houston and beyond, if they see this tiger, what should say do . First thing they should do is just not approach the animal and call local law enforcement. You get police out there and then we can take it and handle it from there. We have participated in confiscations where weve gone out and got animals with both Houston Spca and humane society and its unfortunate that theres big cats like this that are in private hands and peoples homes. Its very dangerous. Beyond calling authorities if you do see it somehow roaming in your neighborhood like we see it here, how much of a threat is it to you . It can be a big threat. Say if you see one, you definitely want to get inside your house. Make sure that your kids and pets are inside also. The video of the tiger that we saw is a young one. Looks like maybe its between 6 and 10 months old, somewhere in there. But even at that age, it can still definitely be dangerous. How detrimental is it to a tiger if it is being kept indoors somehow, i mean, how bad is that for the cat and how hard is it to care for a tiger like this . Its incredibly hard. You think about the spaces that these big cats need. And as they, you know, people get them when they are cubs and they are cute and play with them. As they grow, they become more and more dangerous. Thats when they end up in smaller and smaller cages, unfortunately. So you have things like muscle development. Its not like it should. Bone development, arthritis is a problem. Skin problems.
