Navalny is missing. Were live in moscow to get more details. Good to have you with us. We begin with new reports of clashing between Israeli Police and palestinians in inside the alexa mosque compound. The palestinians have reportedly been injured in the violence. The Israeli Police are temporarily halting by yous to the temple mound and security is tight ahead of the an use Jerusalem Day march later today. The u. N. Security council is set to meet privately in the coming hours to discuss the latest unrest. The journalist is in jer lusale. He joins us live. What is the latest on the violent clashes and rising tensions . Reporter the tensions are running high but what they celebrate as Jerusalem Day, the Reu Reunification Of Jerusalem is another flash point. We know there were clashes between police and protesters on the temple. And you can see from the Footage Hand Grenades going off into the al aqsa mosque. They said palestinians paying heavy handed Police Tactics and publications from the jewish nationalists. We see a graphic footage of a car being driven. They put out a statement and said the driver came under attack from Grenade Throwers and lost control and veered into the protest tlers. Many have to look at social media to see how palestinians are seeing this as basically an attack. At the same time we see violence spreading in other parts north of the country. Weve seen protesters in nazareth. We see rockets being fired into israel, as well. There is no sign of deescalating. Yes, the Police Decision to ban jewish visitors to the temple, perhaps, has relieved the potential flash point. But the traditional march goes through the old city is still set to go ahead. As things stand now, as i said, the violence seems to be getting worse by the minute. Thank you for keeping a close eye on what is going on there. A third of the u. S. Population is now fully vaccinated against covid19. Over 114 million americans in all, according to the latest data from the cdc, and almost half of those eligible have received at least one shot. While Many Americans still need to get vaccinated, doctor Anthony Fauci said the country is moving in the right direction. If we get, which we will, to the goals that the president has established, namely if we get 70 of the people vaccinated by the fourth of july, namely one single dose, even more thereafter, you may see blips. If we handle them well, its unlikely youll see the surge we saw in the late fall and the early winter. Dr. Fauci also told abc news hes open to relaxing indoor masking rules as more americans get vaccinated. Former fda chief, scott gottlieb, is on the same page. Covid wont disappear. We stro learn to live with it. The risk is substantially reduced as a result of vaccination and immunity people acquired through prior infection. I think were at the point in time we can lift the ordinances in a wholesale fashion. People have to take precautions based on individual risk. And the white house covid19 Response Coordinator said the country is turning the corner on the pandemic but warns now is not the time to let down their guard. I think everyone is tired and wearing a mask is a pain. Were getting there and light at the end of the tunnel is brighter and righter. Lets keep up the guard and follow the cdc guidance and the cdc guidance across time will allow vaccinated people more and more privileges to take off the mask. Dr. Eric is a cardiologist and professor of molecular medicine. He joins us. Thank you for joining us and for all you do. Thank you. Good to be with you. Absolutely. Lets start with the mixed messages on when to wear a mask and when not to. Dr. Fauci said it may be time to rethink indoor Mask Mandates as more people are getting vaccinated. Is the cdc being too strict o on this . Well, theyve been quite cautious. The outdoor masks, i think we can get past that unless under extenuating circumstances like prolonged contact and close quarters, otherwise we dont need outdoor masks. As for indoor, if were people who are vaccinated fully, there doesnt pose a worry for that. Were going to see the mask reduction. The need. Were going to help people who have been reluctanted, i think, to get vaccinated. I think part of the encouragement or incentive is Movement Toward a precovid life. Right. And the big same to get as Many Americans vaccinated as quickly as possible. Some gop doctors are trying to win them over and con vince the this is a smart move. Talking about 20 or so. How do you overcome the stubborn 20 that refuse to vaccinate and put everyone at risk, essentially . Well, thats right. We need about 15 to 20 more of the American Population to get to the true containment. Its less than 1 per 100,000 people with covid at any time. Were going to get there. As you say, the last mile, the most difficult one, we havent really rolled out incentives as much as we could. We talked about masks as an example. Also, what is encouraging now were seeing the full licensure application going to the fda. When that gets approved, hopefully it will be in the weeks ahead, many employers, such as universities and Health Systems will require vaccination. That will be the fastest way we can get the 15 . And are counter offensive to the disinformation which hold a lot of people back. Dr. Eric, thank you for helping us do that. We appreciate it. Sure. Good to be with you again. Well, its by no means everywhere but if you know, there are signs around europe of a gradual return to normalcy. In the united kingdom, Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to announce a further easing of restrictions in i tengland. Hes expected to confirm a relaxing of most social distancing rules a week from now. Spaniards making the most of their newfound freedom. The streets were packed with party goers after a State Of Emergency expired late saturday night. More than one quarter of all spaniards had at least one shot and one in eight are fully vaccinated. For more on this, we want to bring in cnn scott mcclain. He joins us live from london. Eng england set to ease covid restrictions, spain did, what is the latest . Reporter its encouraging news. Its part of a trend were seeing across europe as the pace of vaccinations on the continent really picks up speed, especially after the earlier stumbles with supply issues. Its hard for blaming people in spain for wanting to party. They were under a six month State Of Emergency. People took to the beaches and the main Central Square in madrid. Its a bit of an odd sight. One year ago i was in the square where it was heavily secured by police and soldiers who would question anyone walking through as to where they were going and why they were out of their houses. It goes to show you how far spain has come from one of the strictest lock downs anywhere on earth to the pictures were seeing there over the weekend. Here in england, british Prime Minister Boris Janson Set to announce today a week from today people will be allowed to gather indoors in small groups. Bars and restaurants will be able to serve people indoors. Well see a return to spectators in the thousands at sporting events. Part of a plan that was laid out a couple of months ago, and the Prime Minister is keeping to the schedule of the earliest relaxations he set out according to the plan that was drawn up or helped drawn up by his scientific advisors. It relied on a couple of things, notedly, nmutations wouldnt spoil the plan, the vaccine was effective enough to make sure that the Health Care System could withstand another wave of infections. The Infection Rate in the uk is the lowest its been since september. And deaths and new cases are substantially lower than what were seeing in europe because the uk is so much further ahead of the continent in terms of vaccinations. But because of this data, because its all looking so, so promising and so good, deaths right now in the uk are recording in the Single Digits every day, theres a lot of people wondering why things cant reopen quicker. Even some voices within johnsons own party call for the pals of loosening of restrictions to be sped up. Scott mcclain, thank you. U. S. Republicans are poised to oust one of their most powerful leaders because she spoke out against the big lie that donald trump won the election. Well lay out what is expected to happen this week. You said youd never get a dog. You said youd never let her on the couch. Or the bed. You said youd never do a lot of things. Like get two dogs. But you never knew all the things a dog could do for you. And with resolve you never have to worry about the mess. Love the love, resolve the mess. Welcome back. U. S. President joe biden is set to meet with key congressional leaders this week hoping to drum up bipartisan support for his 2. 3 trillion infrastructure plan. White house correspondent has details on what we can expect. Reporter the white house is gearing up for the Infrastructure Push this week as President Biden is set to host republican lawmakers here at the white house to talk about his proposal. The president has two meetings over the course of this week featuring republican lawmakers, one of those being on wednesday when he hosts the big four congressional leaders including Kevin Mccarthy and Senate Minority leader mitch mcconnell. The first time the two men are coming to the white house to meet with President Biden. And this comes as the senator mcconnell has insisted his focus is 100 on stopping the administration as they make progressive moves. The president dismissed those comments saying they worked together in the past. The president believes there are areas he can cooperate with republicans and believes that includes infrastructure. That is what the focus of his meeting with republicans on thursday will be as he hosts a group of six gop senators at the white house to see if they can hammer out some type of deal on infrastructure. And the white house Chief Of Staff in a new interview talked about some areas where the president thinks he can find agreement. What Montana Biden said is he wants to try to find Common Ground with republicans on the economic measures that have been bipartisan in the past. I think thats the thing, mike, we need to focus on. Building bridges, building roads, connecting people with broadband, Building Electric Charging stations for the roads of the future, they shouldnt divide our political parties. Reporter the president spent the weekend at camp david. The white house held internal meetings. Members of the president s socalled jobs cabinet, including secretary Pete Buttigieg will continue to talk to lawmakers over the course of the next week as the white house is heading into a critical period as theyre trying to get bipartisan sign on to this proposal. Arlett saenz, cnn. They were asked about the possibility President Biden might face donald trump again in 2024. Incumbent president s are judged on their record. President trump had a bad record in 2020. Joe biden hopefully has a powerful record to run on, if he runs for reelection. Its easier to run against him this time . I wouldnt want to estimate or under estimate donald trump as an opponent, if he chooses to run. Another trump run for the white house would require a united Republican Party, and that could be why House Republicans are getting ready to demote one of their top leaders. Liz cheney has loudly denounced all the lies from team trump about Election Fraud and now the House Minority leader is throwing his support behind Elise Stefanik to replace liz cheney. Daniel diaz picks up the story. Reporter it seems almost certain that liz cheney is going to lose her Leadership Position in the house gop conference and it could come as soon as wednesday. You know, all of this is happening because shes been incredibly critical of former President Donald Trump. She refuses to spread this socalled big lie that the election was stolen from former President Donald Trump and has blasted her colleagues for objecting to the Election Results on january 6th. You know, sources tell us shes completely comfortable with what is happening. Shes not trying to protect her Leadership Position because she believes its a Battle For The Soul of the Republican Party and this is bigger than her. Shes now likely going to be replaced by congresswoman Elise Stefanik of new york. A moderate republican who has broken with trump on many issues but a strong ally of former President Donald Trump. Shes more moderate than congressman liz cheney. Shes broken on the tax cuts, border wall, and vierlt. But many interviews has been a strong supporter of the former president. It is likely going to replace liz cheney as soon as next week as the gop Conference Chair. Some republicans are incredibly upset by what is happening in house gop now and the criticism against congresswoman liz cheney. Take a listen to what some of them had to say. I think what the reality is as a party we have to have an internal look and a full accounting as to what lead to january 6th. Right now its basically the titanic. Were, like, in the middle of this slow sink. We have a band playing on the deck telling everybody its fine. Meanwhile, as ive said, donald trump is trying to find Womens Clothing and get on the first lifeboat. Some are saying its not good. Not just for the future of the party but not good for the future this country. If you look at polls, theres a group of folks that agree with liz cheney. For us to win in 2022 and 2024, we need everybody. We need those who feel as liz. And sources have been telling us that steph manic is signaling to some allies in the house gop conference that she is likely not going to try to keep this position past 2022. She is hoping to be the house gop Conference Chair for the next two years and then in 2022, in the next congress is going to try to get the top job on the house education d labor committee. So we might be having this conversation again about two will replace and be the next house gop Conference Chair in two years. A cnn senior Political Analyst and editor for the atlantic. Great to have you us. Ihad. The Republican Party is in disarray. Struggling to find the identity but now its clearly deciding who to keep and who to kick to the concern and liz cheney looks set to be excelled from the leadership post. Will that help or hurt the party . Essentially making an martyr out of cheney. Its an moment when political name cheney is insufficiently loyal in the minds of much of the House Republican and the republican electoral caucus. Its an important symbolic moment. We know that roughly 3 4 of republican voters, maybe 80 , are perfectly fine with everything donald trump has done since the election. Dont blame him for january 6th. Dont necessarily view january 6th as that big of a deal. Dont think he acted improperly since the election. There is roughly 20 to 25 of republicans who are on the opposite side of those questions and who are uneasy about everything trump has done since the election. Even if they dont like democratic pend issing and taxing policies. And what the House Republican caucus is going to do this week is send a very clear, unequivocal signal that the 20 or 25 of the party youre the minority. It just kind of underscores my belief that one of the political questions in the next few years, what does the 20 or 25 of reason republicans do . Yeah. Its extreme to think 25 of representative what the gop is to stand for. What does it say about the republicans . They replace cheney but keep the likes of Marjorie Taylor greene . Yeah. I wrote a piece asking whether the extremist caucus in the Republican Party was too big to fail. And i think first of all the answer is yes. Kevin mccarthy and the gop leaders decided they cannot confront or excommunicate, in effect, voices like Marjorie Taylor greene. She speaks for too much of the republican electorate. In this may not be a problem for republicans in 2022, the elect trait is smaller. The way the election plays out is kind of fraction nated over, obviously, states and districts and there is that tendency for a backlash against the president s party in the first midterm but in 2024, when were looking at the bigger electorate and its the question of who do you trust to run the country, the inability or refusal of republicans to isolate themselves from the extremism,ic, is gong to be more of a problem than it will be probably in 18 months from now. What were hearing from russian authorities, they said the doctor has been promoted to be the Health Minister of the region, the hospital where navalny was treated in the town of onsk. Apparently he left that essentially base camp from where the Hunting Expedition was going on this is pretty far north. I was looking at the area, its quite a woody and also swampy area. So really not much in the way of infrastructure that is out there. He left that base camp on his own with an all Terrain Vehicle and simply didnt return. The authorities are saying the folks with him on the hunting trip looked for him for about a day. For about 24 hours and only then notified the authorities. The latest were getting the search for this man is obviously still ongoing. Theres a drone being used, theres a helicopter being used, but so far the all Terrain Vehicle has been found but he hasnt been found. We saw the pictures. Were seeing them now on the screens. He did play a prominent role when navalny was being treated at the hospital. He gave regular press updates. One of the things he said the first analysis that that hospital had, there was some sort of drop in Blood Sugar Levels that may have lead to navalny falling ill. He was heavily criticized by navalny as t he gave Press Conferences that gave wrong information that navalny was poisoned by the chemical nerve agent but also in that hospital, after navalny was treated there, you had one of the doctors who was treating him who was the second in command doctor of that hospital dying very suddenly at the beginning of this year. Then another doctor also recently die the. However, its not clear whether or not what extent he was involved in the treatment of navalny. So certainly some of the doctors at that hospital that was treating navalny certainly having some very bad things happen to them. As far as that search is concerned, were getting an update from the authorities earlier this morning and they said the search has been continued today about 100 people are involved. They are looking to expanhandle the search and hoping to find that now Health Minister of the onsk region alive and well. All right. Well continue to follow this.
