Washington. Welcome to our viewers in the United States and Around The World on this first day of may. You are in the cnn newsroom. As we come on the air tonight, several countries are rushing to get desperately needed covid aid to india. Essential medical supplies are arriving as Indias Health care system buckles under the out of control pandemic. On friday india recorded more than 400,000 new cases in a single day. That is a first since this pandemic began. India is not alone. Symbolic body bags now lined the famed beach there in rio de janeiro. Brazil now reporting 400,000 covid deaths. The governments handling of the pandemic now under investigation. The contrast country to country grows more stark. Hospitals in india are struggling to provide even the most basic care. Eight patients died at a new delhi hospital this afternoon because of a lack of oxygen. They couldnt breathe and there was no oxygen for them. This as disney land in the u. S. Reopens and the nation takes more steps toward some level of normalcy. While the cdc announces nearly onethird of americans are fully vaccinated, india has vaccinated just 2 of its population. As an extreme example of how this pandemic is hitting india and new delhi, theyre running out of wood to burn bodies. I want to focus on the u. S. Cnn takes a closer look at what is being done to get past the coronavirus. Reporter even as global Daily Coronavirus cases reach a new peak, pushed by the crisis in india and south america, the United States curve is flattening. The improvement is helped in part by the more than 100 Million People in the u. S. , close to onethird of the population, who are now fully vaccinated. Im seeing a shift, i think, toward that under served population. So the ones maybe on the fence and thinking about it we have to make a little more effort to get the knowledge to them and help them make the correct decision to get vaccinated. By the time they leave they have smiles and then share with us the reasons why theyre getting vaccinated and they post them on the wall. It is all about doing it for not only themselves but most of the time for their family, friends, and other loved ones. Reporter now the focus turns to vaccinating younger teens once eligible, many of whom have also missed routine vaccinations for things like the flu this past year because of the pandemic. It is going to take a truly coordinated effort to achieve both the roll out of covid19 vaccine in adolescents and a rapid catch up of routine vaccinations. Pfizer has applied for an Emergency Use Authorization to allow 12 to 15yearolds to receive its covid19 vaccine. President biden says schools should probably be open in the fall. This vision of almost normal is tantalizing. New york city will allow 75 capacity for Indoor Dining starting friday. I think The Daily News has it right. This is going to be the summer of new york city. Reporter the Restaurant Reservation website open table shows the number of customers dining out is around 20 below prepandemic levels. Disney land resort in california the only one of the parks left closed since last march reopened with restrictions to california residents on friday. The cdc director Rochelle Walensky says falling case rates and rising Vaccination Rates mean a full reopening of businesses by july 1st is a reasonable target though she also warns the virus has tricked us before and the u. S. Has not reached Herd Immunity. Oregon Governor Kate Brown on friday designated 15 counties entering extreme risk level with harsh restrictions as the state recorded five straight weeks of at least 20 increases in new cases and near doubling of hospitalizations in the past week particularly among younger people. Economic relief is something i can do as your governor to help oregonians impacted by this fourth surge. What i cant do is bring back someones life lost to this virus. Reporter with similar caution in mind the Biden Administration will restrict travel from india for nonu. S. Citizens starting tuesday with some exceptions. With much to celebrate on the cusp of normalcy there is also the reminder of what can happen with too much too soon. Natasha chen, cnn, norfolk, virginia. Now to another prime example of how far weve come in loosening covid restrictions, the Kentucky Derby. The horses will run later this hour, but the gathering of fans has been under way all day. Cnns Evan Mcmorris santoro is at churchill downs. Tell us what it is like being there. I grew up going to the Kentucky Derby. It is my favorite sporting event. What is it like and what is being done to ensure that they dont spread covid . Let me first say earlier i was wearing a fascinator and another hat and everybody asked me to take it off. Well go with that. Youve seen this before. This is a very different Kentucky Derby. One trying to get back to the normalcy. You can have up to 170,000 people in the Kentucky Derby watching it. Today only around 50,000 because they really have done a lot to keep the crowds down, maintain social distancing, and inside the Kentucky Derby demand people wear masks when theyre not eating hot browns or drinking mint juleps. We were there all day. That rule was being somewhat followed. The idea here is there is a way to make the derby safe and to prove to people we could actually get back outside our houses. We talked to a bunch of fans inside all day and they are really feeling like this is something they can once again feel comfortable doing. I feel like its been exciting and almost like the lights at the end of the tunnel kind of like were outside, gathering. It is a little different still. Its been great to get out and do something. Were College Seniors and weve been cooped up for quite a while. Its been nice to get out and see people and kind of socialize. Its nice to have a little taste of normalcy with everything with covid. Ive had both shots, so im there. I still like the idea you have to wear a mask. I wear my mask around other people. I think its the right thing to do until we get through this thing. Reporter pam, i can personally say it has been a wonderful day here in louisville. The question Going Forward is, can this experiment actually work . We wont know for a little while whether it has or not. I can tell you people are really hoping that it does. People are really working hard to make sure it does. You know, well have the horses run in about 50 minutes from now. That will be the end of a big, big day, but could be the beginning of a summer where we can get back outside our houses and start hanging out, pam. It certainly could and that is what we are going to hang our hat on. Evan Mcmorris Santoro thank you so much. I have to say im jealous of your assignment though i am very happy doing what im doing. Youre in my home state. Have fun as much as you can and dont drink too many mint juleps. You got it. All right. And now before i turn to other topics today, take a look at how people are turning out in cleveland for the nfl draft. Thousands showing up. Take a look around. There are plenty of masks to be seen in the crowd. This was not a quick one day event. The draft began thursday and ends tonight. And what a difference a year makes. Last years draft was a virtual event. No fans allowed. While we see examples of life returning to normal the fight is not over. Lets take a look at colorado for example. As of thursday, cases were up 11 from the week before. More importantly, a 70 hike since late march to about 1700 cases a day. They havent dealt with numbers like that since late january. The good news is that the trend is starting to level off for the moment at least. With us tonight is the democratic governor of colorado. Governor, thank you for coming on the show. Happy saturday afternoon, pamela. Good to be with you. Great to be with you. You know this battle as well as anyone, you and your partner got covid in december. Why do you believe cases have been climbing . Is it the variants, not enough people getting vaccinated, Something Else, or all of that combined . As i say to people, look. I personally have had covid and ive been vaccinated. Much worse getting covid. Getting vaccinated is nothing. If those out there watching this have not been vaccinated just make a plan and get it done. Now is the time to do it. This is a race against the clock, pamela. The new variants are more contagious. That is one reason our Health Leaders tell us the rates are increasing in colorado. I just came from Range View High School in aurora, colorado where 40 High School Students part of the Social Justice club put on a Vaccination Clinic for their fellow high schoolers, 16, 17, 18yearolds. They had over 400 kids and Community Members come by, which is so invigorating to see. So many people going above and beyond to help protect our fellow americans. Right. That is an area of concern that not enough young people are getting vaccinated. Speaking of high school, your state is seeing a jump in cases among middle and High School Students but you dont plan any changes in schooling for the rest of the year at last check. Why not . And might there be changes as you continue to look at the data coming in . The data that we have continues to show that schools are a relatively safe place in that they are controlled. There is mask wearing. Its not that there is zero transmission in schools. Of course there is. But the transmission at schools seems to be a function of the General Community transmission rate. So when it is high in the community, its also high in the schools. When its low in the community, its lower in the schools. And so thats what were seeing. I think another factor at play here is as more parents and grandparents are vaccinated and their younger children arent, they are going out and doing things. While the disease may be more minor for 15 and 18yearolds it is still something we should take precautions against and not something anybody should get out of lack of caution. I want to look at the new cnn polling that was out this week. It shows that 1 in 4 American Adults say they wont try to get a vaccine. Im curious what would it mean for your efforts in colorado if onequarter of the population there said, no thanks . So, you know, were at about 55 have gotten their first dose, i think similar nationally. Theres probably another 10, 15, 20 where i think its folks who have just been putting it off. Its in their minds theyre going to get it but havent made a specific plan. Yes as your polling indicates, 25 might be toward the high end, but there probably is somewhere between 15 to 25 of folks who more actively resist it. What we really need to get through now in colorado and across the country is the 20 to 30 who havent gotten it yet. Dont say theyre not going to get it but are just putting it off like you and i might put off going to the dentist or getting the flu shot some years. Lets make it easy, convenient, remove the excuses, and make sure they have a plan to get it done in the next week or two. How concerned are you, though, about those numbers when you see them and convincing those people who may be putting it off and maybe are on the fence or decide they dont want the vaccine. How concerned are you about those people in this fight against the pandemic . Well, look, at some level it is a matter of personal responsibility. Once everybody who wants to be protektd is fully protected if there are folks who dont want to be protected they are doing so at their own peril. To achieve the Herd Immunity level that ends the pandemic once and for all and prevents it from running rampant we need to hit the 75 to 80 vaccination range. I think there are enough folks who want it but, yes, we need to make sure everybody sitting on the sidelines and putting it off and says some day theyll get it make sure that day is in the next week or two. Let me turn to another major issue in colorado, guns. You have three new gun bills by democrats after the Boulder Supermarket Attack that killed ten people. They would allow local governments to enforce their own rules if they are at least as tough as state law, expand Background Checks, and create an office of gun violence prevention. In your opinion would any of those bills have stopped the Boulder Shootings . I think the most notable one that would have likely stopped it is one that looks at what types of criminal offenses disqualify you from Gun Ownership . We have universal Background Checks in colorado but, unfortunately, the suspect in this case, and i use the word suspect lightly because everybody saw him do it but legally he is the suspect, he was able to legally purchase a weapon even though he had a violent Misdemeanor Offense within the last five years. One thing were doing is looking at a law to say of course if you have a violent felony you cant get a gun but if you had a violent misdemeanor, physical assault charge, it shows you probably have issues with your temper or other issues like that. Lets look at a fiveyear period where you have to have a clean record before you are legally able to purchase a weapon. That would have had an impact in this case and would prevent additional violence Going Forward if we get it passed. Republicans say look it also shows there are Mental Health concerns there. Why is there not more focus on that, on the Mental Health funding . I think there is an enormous transformational opportunity in Behavioral Health. We are just at the end of a yearlong process of trying to streamline colorados Behavioral Health system to put patients furs. It is one of the areas we are looking at using some of the federal stimulus dollars in the American Rescue act to help transform Mental Health, Behavioral Health in colorado, to help meet people where they are. All right. Thank you so much, governor. We appreciate you joining us on the show tonight. Always a pleasure, pamela. By the way, there is still time to send your questions for our conversation with Primary Care Physician dr. Matthew. You can tweet them to me pamelabrowncnn or send them to me on instagram. One trump adviser telling cnn this was a show of force that sent a strong message to a lot of people in trumps world that other things may be coming down the pipeline. Were now learning it all centers on trumps firing of the u. S. Ambassador to the ukraine. The New York Times Reports Investigators were looking for information about guilianis contacts with ukrainians on this matter. Cnn previously reported that prosecutors want to determine whether guiliani was doing the bidding of ukrainians who wanted ma Marie Yavonovich gone at the same time he was working for the president. So break it down for us. How worried should people in trumps orbit be or does this case seem to be mainly a Rudy Guiliani problem . The answer like so much things when we only have reporting and dont have Court Documents accessible to you and me or a proceeding in court or a trial is we dont know. What we often say about the question of whether people should be worried, people know what they have done. People know they have engaged in bad actions, in crimes. They know if theyve engaged in Money Laundering or Campaign Finance abuses or whatever the case may be. Usually it is the case when someone asks the question about whether people should be worried, its more about whether they think the feds are on to them or not. In this case, look. I think people who know they have done bad things or come close up to the line that violates the law, maybe galloped across it, they have to worry how much information the federal government has gathered, how much they are gathering from other people, and eventually as im sure well get to, what happens if Rudy Guiliani decides to cooperate . I think we are far from that point right now, but guiliani himself has been involved in so many issues relating not just to the ambassador but also issues relating to the election and the insurrection and trying to overturn the election. There is a potential Treasure Trove of information from documents in the possession of Rudy Guiliani many of which are now in the possession of the federal government. It is interesting because trump allies are treating this raid like it was meant to send a message. That that was part of the calculation here. The Southern District of new york is handling this case. That is where you were head of that office. Is that something, an effect, a consideration when they carry out a search like this . Would that ever be part of the calculation . No. They dont send messages when they execute search warrants. They are trying to gather evidence. The messages they send are contained in indictments and criminal complaints and Court Arguments in the proper setting. I dont know what message it would be. I think everyone knows the Justice Department and Southern District of new york in particular mean Serious Business and will walk away from a case when it is not appropriate to bring it. I dont know what message they think was trying to be sent. They dont conduct themselves that way. At least i did not. What do you say to those who say this is the biden doj, biden prosecutors doing this, that this was politically motivated. What do you say to that . There is zero evidence of that. The investigation was begun before the Current Administration took office. The level of review just talking about this search warrant, the level of review it had to go through at the line level which are noncareer political prosecutors up to and including the u. S. Attorney themselves and also people at main justice and given the nature of this probably up to the Deputy Attorney general or the Attorney General and then a Federal District court judge. Everyone knows by the way, at the end of the day some of this is going to be public perhaps in connection with a charge or some other motion practice. So it is not as easy as people think to have folks decide theyre going to harm someone because in Rudy Guilianis words they hate him. Nobody hates anybody. You dont build a case based on hate. Eventually the work of the office will be subject to scrutiny from the press, the public, the media, and the courts. You dont go around doing nonsensical things unless you actually have the goods. The other piece of evidence that i think is a good piece of evidence about how unpoliticized this department is, there appears to be a continuing investigation into the son of the sitting president of the United States, hunter biden, by the delaware United States attorney and no effort to interfere. It is a quaint concept but those things can be done without politics. Thank you so much for spending part of your Saturday Night with us. We appreciate it. Thanks very much. Say watchathon into your voice remote and watch for free the cdc says 30 of americans are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus while another 44 have received one dose. Thats about 245 million americans. But the data shows that rate is slowing and Vaccine Hesitancy could block the u. S. From reaching Herd Immunity. Cnn correspondent doney osullivan has been speaking to some americans who are skeptical about getting the shot. He joins me now. So what have they been saying, doney . I want to show you the results of this cnn poll, which first found that onequarter of American Adults say they will not get the Covid Vaccine shot. But if you break that down by political party, the numbers are even more stark. 44 of republicans. Almost half of republicans say they will not get vaccinated. Thats compared to only 8 of democrats. Over the past few weeks we have been speaking to some republicans and to Trump Supporters about why they wont get vaccine naughtd. Have a listen. You getting vaccinated . No. I dont nodeed a vaccine. I had covid last march, sick for all of five hours. I dont need a vaccine for that. Reporter the cdc recommends even if you have covid you should get vaccinated. We can recommend stuff. Reporter emergency approval. Who determines the emergency approval. Reporter you think trump is wrong on this one . I dont know what the situation is but i know im not wrong. We are the independent Freedom People of america and make our own decisions. Reporter you are not getting vaccinated . No. Reporter even though it is the trump vaccine . I dont care whose vaccine. President biden got it while President Trump was still in office. So, yes, it is the trump vaccine. I have no intention. We dont blindly follow what President Trump did or didnt do. Its the fact that he promoted individual freedom and your ability to excel is why we support the movement. It was a movement he just happened to come along at the right time to help when we needed it. Reporter pam, it is interesting. I mean, those folks there i spoke to are some huge Trump Supporters, but for them it is a red line. The vaccine is a red line. So even if trump were to tell them to plead with them to take it, they said they wouldnt go along with it. That might be the reason why we havent seen trump sort of do a psa or even when he got vaccinated he didnt announce that publicly until after he left office. Because maybe he doesnt want to alienate that base. That is a really smart point, doney osullivan, as always, thank you so much. Thanks, pam. With Republican Voters especially hesitant to get the vaccine several gop lawmakers with medical backgrounds are trying to convince skeptics to get the shot. Well, we just heard from republicans hesitant to get the Coronavirus Vaccine in our last segment with doney osullivan. Joining me now is one republican lawmaker also a physician working to get more americans vaccinated. Senator Roger Marshall joins me now. Good evening, senator. Good evening. Im excited to talk about this topic. Its an important one. You and several other republicans have released an ad campaign that hopes to change peoples minds. Lets play some of that now. It is obvious to me from a medical standpoint the only way to protect ourselves and your loved ones and to end the governments restrictions on our freedoms is to take action and get the vaccine. I look forward to the freedom that i along with my loved ones will regain once the vast majority of americans are vaccinated. So you actually came up with this idea my understanding is. As you well know, almost half of republicans say they will not get the vaccine. How do you think this psa could change their minds . Pamela, weve done focus groups. Ive talked to i bet hundreds of people that fall into this category, and regardless before we break down the whys and the how comes the number one thing we know would move the needle is if their physician or pharmacist would chat with them. I encourage listeners tonight who are hesitant to get the vaccine that they would reach out to their doctor, nurses, pharmacist and have this same conversation with them. There is certainly a group of people out there who have a libertarian streak and theyre typically republicans as well. Regardless of that i just would encourage them to fall back here and just consider taking the vaccine so we can throw away the mask and live as free as before. Im curious. You had several republican colleagues in this video. Have there been others you wanted to be part of the psa and they declined . I noticed your colleagues in the Senate Rand Paul and bill cassidy, both doctors, were not in this i think it is coincidental probably. We send an email to their staffs and in a given day whether the doctors and sflors were able to do it, it is a busy schedule so i think it is probably coincidental i want to ask about Something Else regarding psas since we are on that topic. Former president s carter, clinton, bush, and obama all were on this Public Service announcement urging americans to get vaccinated. Former President Trump did not participate. He also got vaccinated off camera. What message does that send in your view . I dont think this is all about President Trump at this point. He and his team did an incredible job getting the vaccine across the finish line and started distributing. I think this is really a personal choice and there is a group of people out there who feel like theyve been talked down to, deceived, frankly theyre worried and concerned. Theyve been told they dont need a mask, they need a mask, even if you have a vaccine you have to keep wearing the mask. They need some type of reward. It is a little complicated. I dont think that is the right rabbit hole to go down now. I want to ask you because you say it is a personal choice but also of course as you well know part of the issue with Vaccine Hesitancy is misinformation. Some of that misinformation has been spread in the Republican Party, your republican colleague in the Senate Ron Johnson of wisconsin, has downplayed the urgency of vaccinating all americans. Here is what he said last month. The science tells us that vaccines are 95 effective. If you have a vaccine, quite honestly, what do you care if your neighbor has one or not . What is it to you . You have a vaccine and, you know, science is telling you it is very effective. Why is this big push to make sure everybody gets the vaccine . Im curious what you say to that especially the last part where he said why is there this big push to get everyone vaccinated . What do you say to your colleague in the senate . Well, certainly this isnt about ron johnson and Roger Marshall. This is about the American Public and getting vaccines into peoples arms, and certainly there is a hundred senators with a hundred opinions. I think regardless if we can get people vaccinated we can get to Herd Immunity and were about this close right now. I dont want to argue with other people. I just want to keep encouraging folks to get the vaccine. Lots of reasons to take it. Our children probably arent going to be able to have a vaccine until this fall or next year. I think it is real important we keep our kids in school and we need to get the adults vaccinated to protect the kids. I understand you dont want to do tit for tat but it is more of the messaging and sources of information as you point out with this psa, people want trusted sources of information. As a doctor, as a republican, that would fit in that category for republicans. But ive also got to ask on the other end of the spectrum there is Tucker Carlson on his show on fox news that alleged that the vaccines might not work. Here is what he said on april 13th. He said if the vaccine is effective there is no reason for people who received the vaccine to wear masks or avoid physical contact. Maybe it doesnt work and theyre simply not telling you that. As you know, carlson has a huge audience of mostly republicans. In your view, what role do carlson and others like him have in making these statements and spreading Vaccine Hesitancy . Do you think some republicans are skeptical because fox news and other right wing Media Outlets have spread misinformation about Vaccine Safety . I think all of this adds to the confusion of the Average Joe Public sitting there listening to all this noise. There is so much noise. And to be frank the cdc has not been real consistent on some of their suggestions, their guard rails as well. So there is no doubt this group of people youre talking about are very confused. That is why im just doing my final push here is to talk to your doctor. Dont listen to Tucker Carlson and dont listen to the cdc. Go talk to your own doctor. Talk to your own pharmacist about the risks and the benefits, the pros and the cons. If you want to live as free as you did before we need to go get the vaccine. How concerning is it for you that people are already going back to the living as free as they did before without getting vaccinated and have kind of been like im over this. Well, again, it is america. Everybody has an individual right. I think that one of the things we have to be careful about is not shaming people and not talking down to them and objecting to their way of life. In kansas we normally physically distance from each other. We typically live 6, 10foot apart normally anyway. We are really close to Herd Immunity and have to figure out how to get to that finish line. The number that have had the virus, the number of people vaccinated are getting close. We saw when israel got to 60 , when Great Britain got to 60 of their people vaccinated the numbers plummeted. So lets get across the finish line. We were speaking about misinformation. A recent cnn poll found that 70 of republicans continue to believe in the lie that this election, the last election was stolen. You voted to toss out millions of votes in arizona and pennsylvania and also joined on to the texas lawsuit attempting to throw out votes cast in four states. Im curious. Looking back do you have any regrets about your actions and any concern that they contributed to misinformation about the election . Look, pamela. Were just so ready to move on. I made a decision based upon the facts that i knew at that point in time. I was concerned then. I still am today that six states broke their own laws or their own constitution. It is time to move on and time for this country to heal. Its time for a spirit of forgiveness to be happening. Its time for this country to Work Together and focus on the goals we can solve together. Weve got plenty of challenges right now. Were making great progress coming out of this covid virus, the economy has bounced back. It is time to move on. Its time to move on and i see your point there but also it is also important to hold people, lawmakers accountable for their actions and this obviously was a decision that you had made. I am just curious as we try to move on but also look at the Ripple Effect of what happened there with the election, how do those actions square with your Republican Values as limited government, States Rights, federalism, how does that line up with wanting to throw out millions of votes, advocating for millions of votes to be thrown out in several states . Pamela, we want voting to be easier, cheating to be harder. I think by us standing up to our concerns about those elections about the Election Integrity has forced those states with their problems to come back to the table and have those legislatures Work Together to make sure we had safer elections with higher integrity. Again, making it easier to vote but harder to cheat. In my heart i did what i thought was the right thing and i think the country is moving in a better direction. Okay. Im just going to press One More Time on that. I know we do have to move on. But the constitution gives the States Rights to certify the results. These states arizona and pennsylvania did certify the results. That is what the constitution allows. But you had voted to throw out those votes, that they had certified. So, again, im curious how it aligns with your views as a republican on States Rights. Look, this is not necessarily a republican issue. Democrats have done the same thing. I think every election since 2000. If i think that a state cheated, that they broke their own laws, their own constitution, somebody has to stand up and push back on them. But there was no evidence of widespread fraud as you well know. From both sides of the aisle there was no evidence of it. So what were you basing it on . Based upon that they broke their own laws and their own constitution. So, therefore, we dont know how much fraud or cheating there was or wasnt. All i ever asked for is lets get all the evidence into one room at the same time and have this discussion so that we could restore Election Integrity once again. Right now america doesnt have much faith in the Election Process or much faith in the integrity. But do you see why a big reason they wouldnt is because lawmakers, elected officials were coming out and questioning it and sowing doubt when the courts were the ones, all these laws as you well know, they had been litigated. They went through the court system and so forth. You may not have liked them. You may have said, well this isnt reflecting the legislature didnt do that. It was the elected, you know, executives in these states that made these rule changes. I dont like that. But it was all litigated. Does it concern you that so Many Americans still dont have faith based on the actions and rhetoric from elected leaders . You know, pamela, were going in a circular argument and im not wanting to make this argument. I stand beside what i said, that i thought there was fraud from the standpoint that the states didnt follow their own constitution and their own laws. Somebody has to stand up and say that is not right and i feel like it was my job to do that. Okay. Of course as you well know there were other states, too, that trump won and those states werent contested which also raises the question of why that was done. Sorry. It is my job, too, as a journalist to look into these things, to ask and hold officials accountable. I hope you respect where im coming from as well. Sure. Before i let you go, one more question on a different topic. Axios reported Top Republicans are turning on congressmen liz cheney. Congressman jim banks of indiana said cheneys continued criticisms are an unwelcome distraction and even questioned whether she would retain her role as House Republican chair in a month. Your colleague senator mitt romney was booed while making remarks at the Utah Republican Convention earlier today. Im just curious. I dont know if we have that sound. Okay. Lets play the sound real quick. I dont have the fact that i i dont hide the fact that i wasnt a fan of our last president s Character Issues [ booing ] arent you embarrassed . Im also no fan of the president s yeah, sure. My friends, this is the moment i was talking about. Please. Thank you. Show respect. So as you watch that im curious what your view is, senator marshall. Where does this internal fighting end for the Republican Party . So i cant speak to whats going on in the house side but i can tell you on the senate side weve never been closer. If you go back to the two all nighters we pulled, i saw our caucus pull closer and closer together. Now that were having lunch im excited where we are as a Republican Party moving forward. We have some incredible people out there, tim scott delivered just an incredible message that past week, so im excited where were going and just remember, remind america, we had the greatest economy of our Lifetime Precovid thanks to a smaller government, lower taxes and less regulations and im afraid right now were being tossed in the other direction and i see the moderates on both parties coming in our direction. So, im encouraged. But im just court use on that point, what do you think of the way romney was treated there . What is your view of that . What do you think . You know, i dont know much of the reference behind all of it. Each one of us have to are accountable to our own voters and senator romney will be responsible for his own votes just like im responsible for my votes, as well. But there are a lot of americans out there that are just angry right now. We finished three town halls this morning, they are angry that the president s threatening to take their land away from them, theyre angry about packing the court, raising our taxes. So, theres a lot of anger out there with this far left agenda and i think senator romney is feeling some of the anger out there. Sometimes you just dont know who to be angry at. So, youre saying theyre taking it on him because theyre just angry across the board . I mean, hes a former Standard Bearer of the party in many ways and hes getting booed. I mean, this is within the Republican Party. This isnt democrats. Right. Certainly the Republican Party has a big tent. Weve come a long way since senator romney was the president ial nominee. It is a Different Party today, its much more progressive. I think the Working Classes came over to the Republican Party, those people, Hard Working Americans are now republicans, at least theyre voting republican. So, im comfortable with where we are as a party. Weve got work to do, but i think were going in the right direction. When you say progressive, what do you mean by that . More Working Class Voters . What do you mean . Thats a good question, progressive. I think the focus on just the daytoday lives of people, the supper table issues that folks have, focusing on their freedoms of speech, their freedoms of religion and just local control of their future and of their government, as well. So, i think just listening to the people, yeah. Okay. And i just have to quickly factcheck, because im a stickler for facts. On the election, you said the democrats have done it almost every election it hasnt been every election and the difference here, of course, is that you had the president in office who was saying the election was stolen. But thank you so much, that these are the kind of conversations that need to be have. Senator Roger Marshall, thank you for coming on the show and i hope well have you back so we can continue talking to people from all different sides of the aisle. You bet, pamela. Well fact check it, too. I bet you will. That would be great. I welcome that. Thank you so much. You bet.
