10:31 pm A local duo, and two childhood friends, have reeled in high school fishing’s top crown for Central High School. Central High School students, Gerald Brumbaugh and Hunter Klotz, brought a three-bass limit to the scale weighing nine pounds, nine ounces to win the 2021 High School Fishing National Championship last week in South Carolina, according to Major League Fishing. The championship was held on Lake Hartwell in Anderson last week. Officials say the Central’s three-day total of nine bass totaling 28-13 gave them the win by a one-pound, 14-ounce margin. Brumbaugh and Klotz won $10,000, berths as Strike King co-anglers in the Toyota Series Championship event and multiple scholarship offers from colleges with fishing teams.
