WISCONSIN RAPIDS - Wisconsin Rapids will receive $144,000 through the Economic Development Administration’s CARES Act to help the city recover from the economic hit from the closure of the Verso paper mill. In a news release, U.S. Rep. Ron Kind, who represents the Wisconsin Rapids area in Congress, said the funding will help the Wisconsin Rapids community recover and build back its economy in the future. The investment will help the city fund a recovery strategy, including market assessments, community participation to set goals for the city’s future, redevelopment strategies for the downtown area where the Verso mill stands, and plans to implement recommendations.
