Motorists across England and Wales are set to save up to £35 a year on their car insurance following new rules on whiplash claims which came into force yesterday.
Car insurance premiums are expected to be slashed by about £35 a year with a new online portal making the claims process simpler and medical evidence now mandatory under a clamp down on exaggeration claims.
Changes to the insurance claims process are aimed at reducing a high number of false whiplash claims made very year.
More than 550,000 were made in 2019/2020 alone. The Lord Chancellor, Robert Buckland QC MP, said: “For too long the system for making whiplash claims has been open to abuse by individuals looking for an easy payday – with ordinary motorists paying the price.
