Cape Cod restaurants: The Lanyard is a second home for regulars The Lanyard Bar & Grill, known for chicken wings that are smoked out behind the Harwich Port restaurant and dressed in homemade sauces, is normally open year-round. But life was anything but normal over the past year. Despite all COVID-19 precautions, business dwindled when the weather grew too cold to eat on the patio. Husband-and-wife owners Ben and Angie Porter decided the only way for the restaurant to survive in the long run was to take a break. "We closed in mid-December because COVID was keeping business away." Ben Porter says. "We basically had to make a decision. We would have gone bankrupt if we'd stayed open losing money.
