After shooting over 50 percent in previous season contests, the Thunderbirds were 20-for-56 from the field against No. 5 seed, Sturgeon. Callaway also struggled from behind the arc, hitting 4-for-17 from three-point range.
Cody Cash led Callawy with 16 points and 4 steals, Matthew Weber had 10 points; Noah Scrogum had 6 points and 10 rebounds, continuing his streak of double-digit rebounding.
Sturgeon had four players in double-digit scoring, led by Logan Flaspohler. The win improved Sturgeon to 1-2.
