Bristol Township Council unanimously adopted a $57.6 million budget Thursday night calling for no tax increase, while it also approved a new contract with its police officers that will raise their pay by 14% over the four-year term of the deal. The budget is balanced and calls for the hiring of 10 new police officers due mainly to retirements, bringing the police department to a full force of 62 officers. The police wage increases will include 4% the first year, 3.5% in years two and three and a 3% increase in the fourth year. Township Manager Randee Elton said that the township will save $200,000 by changing the medical insurance for all township employees to a high-deductible plan with the township responsible for the deductibles.
