Trending Lord Charles Moore suggested that Britain got its sovereignty back after Brexit, but the EU still held sway over the border issue on the island of Ireland. Regarding the debacle over the EU threatening to impose Article 16 of the Brexit agreement, he wrote: "We therefore now know that the EU’s constant insistence that it will never impose a border between North and South is not true." Following the threat, Northern Ireland's First Minister Arlene Foster stated it was now time to review the Northern Irish Protocol, she said: "The protocol is unworkable, let’s be very clear about that, and we need to see it replaced because otherwise there is going to be real difficulties here in Northern Ireland.”
