Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Apr 12, 2021 7:02 AM Charles Booker, the Louisville Democrat who nearly won the nomination to face Mitch McConnell last year, has announced he’s forming an exploratory committee for a potential 2022 run for the nomination to face U.S. Senator Rand Paul. He made the announcement in a two-and-a-half-minute video on Twitter Monday morning. Booker lost the primary last year to Amy McGrath and was likely hurt by record absentee voting due to the pandemic that had many Democrats sending in their ballots before he gained momentum. He formerly represented a portion of Jefferson County in the state House.
