Apr 14, 2021 TUCSON, Ariz. – Coming off of a successful showing at the Jim Click Shootout on April 10, Johnnie Blockburger and Samantha Noennig have earned Pac-12 weekly track and field honors. On Saturday, freshman Johnnie Blockburger broke the Arizona all-time 400m record, clocking 44.71 to win the event. He previously broke the freshman record at the Willie Williams Classic with a time of 45.83. His performance makes him the first Wildcat to run the 400m under 45 seconds and replaces Bobby McCoy's record from 2008. His time currently ranks second in the country and in the world. Blockburger also competed as a part of the Wildcats' winning 4x100m and 4x400m relays that rank 19th and 13th in the NCAA respectively.
